I wasnt sure if I was going to like this book but I picked it up anyway, And for that I am glad. While i love a well written historical romance, I have a few guidelines that help when I’m picking which ones to read. I like the authors who like to turn an arranged marriage into something of beauty and love. This one was completely the other way around. Rose’s husband is more like her best friend than her lover. He is also dying of an unknown illness. On his dead bed he makes her promise to do something that threatens her very heart and soul. I loved this twist, no one had written a story like this. My only issue was how it played out at the very end. You got such a huge build up then it just sort of stopped. I would have loved more at the end. Warwick and Rose are getting chased by Owen her dead husbands brother and its over within a few chapters at this point. There is not much excitement towards the end. While they are at the castle you are pulled into a plot of mystery, shock and horror. Its fast paced and you go through all the emotions. At times I found myself gasping and crying along with Rose at the unfair situation she found herself in. But once her husband passes away its almost like its over. The suspense is gone and you can see what is going to happen. This didnt pull any strength away from the story its self as it started strong enough to keep you happy. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to read the DIFFERENT ways.

Forbidden Night with the Warrior starts with a very unusual proposal. The ailing Lord of Penhurst desires his wife to sleep with her first lover in order to conceive an heir to save his dynasty from his twisted younger brother. Great plot! But I felt the storyline became predictable as the story progressed. Reading this was like riding a roller coaster in that you hit the highs & lows quickly, the highs a little too quickly. I was disappointed in the ending for it felt rushed.

1174, England.

This story is about heroine, Rosamund de Beaufort- De Courcy, the hero is - Warrick De Laurent. They are star crossed lovers to the core. Sadly the stars are not in this couple’s favor! Both have cruel fathers .. as it is love at first sight.

You can't help, but have empathy for Warrick, whose own father issues torture lashing punishment for his involvement with Rosamund! As Harold De Beaufort orders the same flogging! This is to force Rosamund to accept his choice of husband, Baron Alan De Courcy. As Rosamund is deeply in love with Warrick De Laurent! Harold threatens the death of Warrick, the man she loves and forces her to watch his brutal thrashing! She has no choice but to accepts her father's terms to save the man she loves life!

Even though Warrick is from a noble family, his father leaves only his brother and sister lands and holdings. Believing his step-mother’s lies that Warrick is mentally impaired! This is due to his reaction to his baby sister’s death! So he receives nothing, yet he wants lands and holding and respect on his own terms. His life has been that of a soldier and a warrior.

Three years later: Warrick still loves Rosamund even after her severe betrayal! He does not realize or understand the position and threats her father made to her. Basically using her as a pawn to do his bidding. Forcing Rosamund to watch his flogging...she would do anything to save his life!

Rosamund’s husband Alan De Courcy is dying. Over the years Alan has tried everything to keep her happy, now she loves him like a brother or a dear friend. Never that deep, passionate, all consuming love, like she had for Warrick.

The problem is if they don't conceive a child soon his wastrel evil brother Owen, will inherit Pevensham holding, lands and its people! He will abuse its people, plus everything Alan has worked for will be destroyed. As Owen's own holding is destroyed and due to his excessive evil ways and his creditors want repayment!

Owen is extremely desperate and wants his brothers estates, title, lands, and even his beautiful wife now! Now he has made a proposition to Warrick to murder his own brother! What Owen doesn't know is Alan also has made a proposition, but it's quite different.

Alan wants Warrick to conceive a child with his wife and pass it off as his own . This way he would have an heir and be protected from Owen and his evil shenanigans. Alan is aware Warrick is the only man Rosamund has ever wanted. Plus he knows he impregnated Rosamund before, a stillborn. Though Warrick is not aware of this pregnancy or the loss of this child. Plus Alan wants a marriage between the two so Rosamund is protected too.

On top of this upheaval some of Alan’s own soldier are switching sides and betraying Alan. Feeling his death and no heir in site. Many are doing Owen’s bidding so there is threats and danger at every corner!

Rosamund is no adulterous and wants nothing to do with her husband’s airborne crazy scheme! Warrick thought this would be a perfect revenge on the woman who broke his heart.

Though he still feel he's her first and only legitimate marriage, though no witnesses. As they said vows three years ago in a church- before they consummated their marriage. They thought this would force Rosamund’s father to accept their union. They were sadly mistaken and only made Harold rush to give her away to another man, who had better prospects in her father's opinion!

When Rosamund and Warrick both confront each other with a slight innocent touch...it ignites an all consuming fire that never went away. Feelings buried away for the past three years come back to the surface!

What will Rosamund and Warrick do? Will they do as her husband requested or part ways forever? Is this a second chance reunion or more devastation, betrayal and heartbreak? This is an absolute must read to find the answers and more!

Have your tissues or hankies nearby, as this quick paced, moving romantic adventure pulls heavy on your heartstrings. It's a major page turner that readers won't be able put down!

I have read every single Michelle Willingham book and they only get better. She is one of the most talented writers in the historical romance genre, the only genre I read. It doesn't matter if it's Scottish, Irish, or regency historical all her novels are supreme phenomenal reads from start to finish.

Always well developed with unforgettable characters , brilliant scenes, magnificent dialogue and breathtaking settings!

This novel is a riveting, romantic, adventure filled with intrigue, mystery, assassination plots, suspense, murder, flogging, drama and passion. It is so steamy and hot it will make readers drool. Plus betrayal, treachery, hatred, torture, loathing, sibling rivalry, jealousy, and at long last love. As Ms. Willingham pens another heart melting best seller that will make your pulse race. Plus magnificent plotting that you're holding your breath with anticipation not knowing what could possibly happen next!

I received an advance readers copy from the publisher. I voluntarily agreed to do a fair review and blog through netgalley. All thoughts, ideas and words are my own.

Forbidden Night with the Warrior (Warriors of the Night #1)
by Michelle Willingham

Definite buy buy buy book! While I did take off a star, it was more personal preference then anything really wrong! I have come to expect a great deal from this author so I objected when finding the heroine to be a little too weak at times for me! As this was a truly engaging story line, it made the book for me a great read. Totally full of murder, romance, passion and passion and passion! Strange choices we as humans will make and back again to love and forgiveness and passion. I did not put it down until I was finished and the only disappointment was the heroine was a little too hmm too bland at times! Maybe though it was the era for that type of heroine. All in all this was a great read! I was given this book in return for an honest review. Anna Swedenmom

I am giving an honest review in return for being allowed to read this ARC. When I read the description of this book, I was really anticipating the tale. Unfortunately, I felt let down somewhat. Don't get me wrong, it was well written it just lacked the passion i felt it could have had.

One wicked night for an heir!

Rosamund de Courcy has always loved Warrick de Laurent, but was forced to marry another. Now her husband's dying command is that she must provide him with an heir. To do so, she will have to spend one sinful night...with Warrick!

The powerful warrior was wounded by Rosamund's abandonment years ago, and Warrick refuses to let her touch his heart again. But this illicit night is impossible to resist, and soon he is determined--he will not only possess her, but reclaim her for his own!

Three years ago Rosamund met and fell in love with Warrick. She wanted nothing more than to be with Warrick but her father had other ideas about her future – not one where she wed a third son with no property. Under threat of death to Warrick, Rosamund marries. Now it’s three years later and her husband, Alan, is dying. He summons Warrick to him and tells him that he wants him to lie with his wife to produce an heir. Alan doesn’t want his evil brother to inherit and he knows he can’t produce an heir. Rosamund is adamant that this not happen but Alan gets his way.

Being with Warrick again brings back all of the old feelings she once had for him. She knows she never stopped loving him but she is still married to her husband. When he dies Rosamund fears for her life fro Alan’s brother, Owen, and fleas her home. Unfortunately Owen is determined to have Alan’s estates as well as Rosamund.

I never am one to read books that involve infidelity but this was a different take on everything. I still didn’t care for it but I could deal with it better because of the circumstances. Alan truly gave Rosamund no choice in the matter and that pissed me off. He even forced it on her by coming to her in the dark - he wanted her to believe that it was he that she was having sex with. Of course she knew immediately it was Warrick. That whole scene had me cringing because Warrick – who I had really liked up until that point was involved. It was a bit weird to say the least.

The story revolves around not only the issues with Alan and his wishes for Rosamund before he dies, but the issues with his brother Owen as well. Then there was Rosamund and Warrick working out their issues from the past as well as the problems they faced currently. There was a lot going on but as usual Willingham wrote it in such a way that it flowed easily. She took all the different parts of the story and brought it into one cohesive and very good book. I really enjoyed all of the parts of the story and definitely recommend this one.

This book was very annoying to me. the h was non stop winey and I just could take any more. I really like author but this was not as good as other books I have read. it will not stop me from reading other things just this one did nothing for me. I like the description and probably would have enjoyed if h was less annoying and making everything a constant fight..
