Shaye is going back to work as a forensic analyst after a year since a shoot out. Now she seems to be back where she was before with another shoot out. Whether or not both situations are related is what Detective Cole, Shaye and many others must piece together. Until shes safe detective Cole with the help of others will watch over her, but the longer Shaye and Cole are around eachother things start to heat up.

You konw what? I really enjoyed this book it was action backed, plenty of steam between Cole and Shaye and there was plenty of twists and turns that it really got me hook. Then there was that bit of back story to Cole and why he keeps some semblance of distance between Shay that I thought was interesting and how Shaye was able to attempt to help him. I loved that there was plenty of mystery, hints and clues making the readers question who the assassin could be, when would they strike next, and just questioning what is really going on. If you like a good mystery thriller with a bit of a romance your going to like this book.

4 1/2 STARS!

Danger strikes when she least expects it! Yet again Shaye Mallory finds herself dodging for cover as someone comes out of the woodwork and starts shooting at her ... what happened to her quiet life?? With the second in this spin-off series, Elizabeth Heiter brings us Cole Walker's story. We met him in his brother Andre Diaz's book last month, and Shaye was instrumental in helping them save Juliette in that story as well. The characters mesh well and are all passionate about their work and protecting those they love. The fact that the brother's are always ready to jump when the other calls, even if it's for a stranger they haven't met means a lot. The background story that they brought up in the first book was mentioned in this one too, but fell to the way side a little too much. I'm looking forward to getting answers to that in the next book.

As the sole survivor of a police station shoot-out last year, forensic analyst Shaye Mallory has had a lot to deal with. She's just getting back in the swing of things at work when she finds herself the target of a gunman yet again. She gladly accepts help and protection from her friend and co-worker Cole Walker.

Cole has been attracted to Shaye ever since the day he met her two years ago, and the feeling is definitely mutual, but it's taking her being in danger yet again for them to get close to acting on that attraction! Will they push it away again, or day after day of being in close quarters finally have them relenting and admitting what they feel?

Police Protector by Elizebeth Heiter is a romantic suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters. It's one of the better stories that intrigues you enough to want to read all the other books to learn more about the secondary characters. I can't wait to read Luke story.
In Police Protector, Shaye is an extremely talented forensic investigator. She survived a police shootout that left her shaken. Shaye is such an interesting character. She has had a two-year crush on Cole who is a detective who seems to always be in the line of fire. The story opens with someone shooting at Shaye in a grocery store parking lot and they're trying to decide if it's based on a previous case or if someone new is after her. There's a very good mystery with enough suspects to keep you guessing. It was a sweet romance with Cole and Shaye trying to decide if they can have a future together when they both come from such a different backgrounds. Cole was raised in foster homes which made for an interesting side story. Two of his foster brothers are also in police work and I suspect they're part of the series. The author did a very good job of creating realistic scenes between the characters. You couldn't help but chuckle when Luke calls out his partner and his two foster brothers seem to know Cole better than he knew himself.
Only one physical scene

This book has a great hook. We are introduced to Shaye Mallory in a scene where she is being shot at. It's suspenseful and definitely made me not want to put the book down. Shaye was already traumatized because she survived an earlier shooting at a police station. She is in this situation because she is a forensic computer expert and works right next to the police station. Cole Walker is a detective who has been interested in Shaye ever since he met her. However, he does not believe that he is marriage material because his job is dangerous. Family plays a large role in this story. Cole is very close to his brothers and I love that they accept Shaye as someone they have to look out for. I'll take 4 alpha males looking out for me any day ;) *fans self*

You will be dying to figure out who the shooter was in the first chapter. It sets up the plot for the book really well. The dialogue flows and the chemistry between Cole and Shaye sizzles. I wish they would have hooked up sooner than they did. I like this Harlequin Intrigue series. I would not have picked up these books in the past because I didn't think I liked romantic suspense. But it turns out that I do. I definitely recommend Elizabeth Heiter's book. It will make for a great summer read!

One word: Exciting! Lots of thrills and danger found within the cover of this book. Shaye survives an attack at the police department where she works and subsequently quits. Months later, she decides to tough it out and return, only to fall victim to a shooting at a grocery store. What follows is a strong thriller with a romance that takes a long time to make much progress, which is refreshing. Two thumbs up.
