I read several of the previous books and by far I think I liked this one the best. I liked River & Edith. They had great chemistry and I liked that we got a bit more new revelations to this ongoing saga. This is a must read and I can't wait for the next one!

When reading this book I got the nagging sense that I am missing a coupling things and after Reading it found out that I was reading the 5th book in the series (Oops!) It did good as a stand alone but I think It would've been a whole lot better reading experience if I read the previous books. That being said I thought that this was a really good mystery book. I loved getting to see Ediths character, she really was a hard working stubborn women. I loved getting to know their back stories which made their characters even more interesting. I loved the spark between the two main characters. I loved that not only did I get the the two main characters POV but the mystery intruders thoughts as well made it more creepy seeing that view. I loved that there was plenty going on in this book o keep things interesting and overall it was a really enjoyable book,. Thinking about getting the previous books to see what happened before .

The Colton Marine by Lisa Child is part of the Coltons of Shadow Creek. I had not read the other books and I was able to follow this one very well. The underlying story in the series is that their mom is missing and she is wanted by the FBI for murder. River is the marine that has returned home from very bad injuries from the war. He finds out that the man he thoughts was his father isn’t so now he doesn't know who his father is. This is just one more thing his mother has done to cause havoc in the family. He feels lost both from not knowing what to do after the service and finding out who his real father is. The author did a great job of making River a hero even with his injuries.
Edith is working for the man who has bought River’s mother's mansion. This is the house they grew up in and each one has different memories of the house. Several accidents start to happen as Edith works in the house to get it ready for her boss. Edith hires River to help her not knowing that he has his own reasons for wanting to be in the house. They start to feel that someone may be in the house.
Definitely some revelations happened in the book and Edith and River try to fight their attraction to each other. Edith has a mysterious boss who becomes a little more known in this book.
A bonus was that I love the cover :-)
There was also enough storyline around the other siblings that would make you want to purchase those stories also.
Sexual content: one physical scene, chemistry throughout
Violence: nothing disturbing, accidents, held at gunpoint
Language - D@mn - 51 times, b!tch - 3, nothing stronger
alcohol/drug -no drugs, might have been drinking, nothing noticeable.

I really love a good romantic suspense novel and this one is well worth the wait. The Colton Marine is the fifth book in The Colton’s of Shadow Creek Series and is the best one so far. I really love how the stores have evolved and grown in this series. I was drawn in from the first page and even more with each chapter I read. Childs creates a magically romantic novel with a touch of suspense that will leave you wanting to know more. I found this to be an outstanding read that I could not put down.
