Thank you for giving me an opportunity to review ARC of Storming the Castle for honest review. This was my first read of romance book written by Arianna Hart and I was pleasantly entertained. My first criteria for a good book is if I can finish it. Storming the Castle kept me interested and I continued reading about Sam and Faith's love story until the very end of the book. The story is familiar, a famous rock star is hiding away from the public and finds love unexpectedly with a "normal" woman. There were several side characters in the book that I suspect are cameo appearances from Ms. Hart's earlier books. A small town of Dale appears to be the location for her love stories in this series. Interestingly, Sam is not an alpha male in this story. Recently, I have been reading romance books full of dominant male heroes, so this was a nice surprise to read about a non=alpha male. Sam is instantly sexually attracted to Faith, but keeps his distance for awhile trying to hide his lust. The book takes quite a while describing Faith's life routine with her young daughter, Piper, before the attraction between Sam and Faith is brought back to reader's attention. The flow of the story is at times a bit awkward, but the potential of a good romance keeps the reader interested. I needed deeper delve into Sam and Faith's personality to fall in love with the characters. The story kept me interested, but I found it lacking in further development of characters or events. I needed more depth to make it a book to remember after I read the last word. |
Sam was so sexy and his relationship with the people of Dale, Georgia was fun and down right supportive. Him and Faith though, combustible sexual fit. They were like steak and potatoes. Who would have thought the owner of a small town bed and breakfast could have made all his needs come true; quiet, muse, escape, and life. She was his means that would not end (If he had anything to say about it) and he was the strength and support she needed when her world came crashing down. Don't forget Piper, she was a worldwind of adolescent energy that made all things fun and her way. I loved the small town close knit feel and the girls and guys that made up friendship and support regardless of the situation. |

Sam Castleton is a rock star with a drinking problem. He's looking for an off the grid location to dry out & write his next album. Faith Adams is a widowed mother who owns a bed & breakfast in the middle of nowhere, small town, Dale, Georgia. She's just trying to support her daughter & run her B & B when an unbeknownst to her famous man asks to be her only guests for a few months. Can she help him get sober? Can he show her how to trust again? I really enjoyed this book. I picked it up hoping to get a sweet, small town romance with a likable cast of characters. That's exactly what this story gave me. I'll admit the first chapter had me thinking twice about continuing. Sam seemed like a big headed jerk & I can stand those heroes. However once he arrives in Dale his true self is shown & much more likable. I appreciated the way the author betrayed Faith as a strong, independent, single mother. A lot of times I read romances with children in them that are conveniently absent through most of the story making it completely unbelievable. This book is perfect for a light hearted, sweet, quick read. I've heard that Arianna Hart has other books set in Dale, GA with characters we from Storming the Castle. I'll definitely be checking them out soon. |

a potientially good book if you can get past the foul language. |
A nice romance with a side dash of sweet. This book took me a couple of hours. It was a smooth read. At times I might not have liked how something was written or implied but it turned out to work for the characters. |
i couldn't finish this book i stopped at about 44% i just could'n't finish this book, Faith's inner thoughts where just plain annoying and i just couldn't seem to connect with the Faith or Sam |
Sam Castleton is one of America's greatest rock musicians, and he's completely lost himself in the rockstar lifestyle. Terrified that he's well on his way to alcoholism, and in an attempt to get his muse back, he checks himself into an out of the way hunting lodge/bed and breakfast for some peace and quiet. The bed and breakfast is run by Faith Adams, a young single mother doing the best she can. Her husband died before she even knew that she was pregnant, so she's used to doing things on her own. She's lonely, but her daughter is her priority and no sexy rock star is going to change that. Can Sam and Faith put their fears and misgivings aside to give into their mutual attraction? This book left me feeling very... indifferent. It's not that it's a bad book, it just wasn't amazing. It follows the standard contemporary romance plotline and pacing, although there are a couple of twists thrown in to keep us on our toes. None of this is necessarily bad, but it didn't make for the most exciting book. There were some things that threw me off, like the former in-laws suing for custody. What was the point of it? They'd never wanted anything to do with Piper before, and even during the custody battle, they didn't seem to care about much aside from just winning. I had hoped that their motivations might be made clear at the end, but the brief answer we got seemed half-hearted and underdeveloped. The whole plot line just seemed to be there to prove that Faith was A Good Person™ despite everything that had happened to her. And, brief spoiler ahead... Can we talk about her dead husband for a second? Like, yes, it was awful that he cheated on her and I myself could never set that aside and carry on with a relationship. But, #1, he's dead, and #2, of all the ways to be cheated on, I feel like the reveal here was kind of weird. Matthew was quite literally coerced into sleeping with his boss to further his career. I suppose he consented, but is it really consent if your job is on the line? It doesn't matter that he's male and his boss was female, it's still disgusting and wrong. Whatever his boss said about "In my circles, that's vanilla" doesn't make it right. I don't care what kind of circles you run in. I don't care if sexual assault is the most common, most normal thing where you come from. It is absolutely 100% wrong for someone in a position of power to use that power to garner sexual favors from someone who reports to them. Even after finding out that Matthew literally wanted no part in these sexual encounters, he's still vilified. I feel like I came away from that revelation with a different impression than I was supposed to because honestly, I just felt bad for the guy. Anyway. I also thought it was kind of weird that Faith was so adamantly against casual sex and then she was just flinging herself at Sam. I mean, good for you, Faith, I'm glad that you're finally getting back out there after five years or whatever of celibacy. Clearly, I have no problem with reading about sex (I mean, look at my recent reviews), but there was no transition. It's just like one minute she's super anti-sex, and the next she's like, "Wait, how many condoms do we have left?" I also thought that the ending wrapped up a little too neatly and quickly for my liking, but overall, I did like the characters (particularly Sam) and I appreciated the strong female friendships that constantly figured into the plot. This book was, more than anything else, very readable and I really did fly through it. Piper was the cutest and I loved how much she loved Sam. He was adorable with her as well, and much like in real life, I like the guys in my books to be good with kids. If you're into books about rock stars looking to settle down, you're sure to enjoy this one. Final rating: somewhere between 2.5 and 3 stars |
STORMING THE CASTLE is a perfect addition to your summer beach reading list! Arianna Hart gives us a wonderful tale filled with romance, fun, intrigue, and redefining yourself when your life is at a crossroads. Bad boy rocker, Sam Castleton, has it all: money, fame, and hot women throwing themselves at him. Despite all of his success, he feels lost and at sea. He doesn't like the direction that his life is going and he makes the decision to step away from everything and really evaluate what he wants out of life. It was a bold choice to make and took a lot of courage and strength. Running away to Dale, Georgia to a small cabin in the woods, he begins to divest himself of the trappings of fame and rediscover what he loved about music to begin with. While he is working on getting his life back on track, he meets and starts to fall for his neighbor, Faith Adams, who owns the cabin and property. Faith has her own baggage and battles but she is powerless to resist the charms of Sam. Readers will enjoy watching them navigate their way throughout the story. Definitely recommend. |
This book turned out to be more then I had anticipated. I love the realness of the relationships, the honesty, and doing what's right. They are both fighting for believing in themselves again and find it in each other. Very heart felt and warming. |
This is my first time reading this author. I grabbed it based on the synopsis. I enjoyed the twist on the typical rock star trope. Oh, that's not to say Sam Castleton didn't behave like the typical rock star. He just decided to have his come to Jesus moment in small town Dale, Georgia. He needed to change his path and despite wanting solitude, he found himself drawn to widow Faith and her young daughter. I always like when the big, bad, gets stung by the love bug. The mighty fall pretty quick sometimes. Enjoyed the small town quirkiness and the tight group of women supporting each other. Overall, a nice, light read. It is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. |
I really liked that Storming The Castle isn't your average rockstar romance. Sam and Faith had a sweet romance that had me laughing and falling for them as they fell for each other. I enjoyed that they seemed to take some time to connect and it seemed more worth it in the end. Piper was a nice touch to the over book as well. |
Wow! This was a great story, I hope to keep my eye for more by this author. Loved the bun pun at the end. This is a voluntary review, I do not get paid for this review. My thoughts are my own. |

Aaawwwww. I really liked this. Still swooning. A hot Rock Star hero, a bunch of amazing supportive characters, adorable dogs, funny kids and a low-angst romance make for a beautiful feel-good read full of heart and Southern charm. This is the perfect novel to read on a beach and get yourself out of a lazy summer book slump. |

This book contains both on-screen sex and cursing including f-bombs. It is not technically part of a series, but contains characters that are from other books by the same author. You do not have to read those ones to enjoy this one and it comes to a satisfying ending and *does not* end on a cliffhanger. Despite my hesitation about reading another rock star romance story, I really liked this book. I enjoyed watching Sam grow and change as a person, and watching Faith figure out how to allow herself to love and trust again. They were both extremely interesting and likable characters, so I never once wanted them to not work out. The story line with her in-laws and her late husband was really interesting, and I loved how Faith dealt with all of that in the end, despite how difficult it must have been for her. I also thought Piper was adorable and very accurately written which is something that isn't common in romance novels. This was an fun and entertaining read that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a story about two characters that are just really good people finding their happily ever after despite a bunch of road blocks and challenges being thrown in their way. I was generously granted an ARC of this book via NetGalley and was under absolutely no obligation to write this review. |

I really liked this book. A rockstar on his way down the tube with his drinking and he recognizes he's going to hit bottom soon enough, so he decided to pull out, clean himself up and find his muse again. And it isn't going to happen in rehab. He has his manager find him a secluded place in the middle of nowhere which happens to be in Georgia, his manager books him there for 2 months, pays ahead, sends along a list of what are needs right down to the fancy coffee beans he uses and strict orders he is not be be disturbed. Sam doesn't want to be recognized either, so he cuts his long hair and off he goes to a small B&B in a tiny town. The B&B has 3 cottages and a few rooms in the main house. Faith owns the place, lives there with her 5 year old daughter Piper and is a widow. There's a tricky underlying story there with her dead husband, one that will pique your interest. They also live with their dog, who could pass for part Bear. I loved the dog. Faith has some really great and supportive girlfriends who are married and either have kids or kids on the way. Sam starts to come out of his hibernation when he starts getting his mojo back which in part he attributes to watching Faith and Piper. No story is quite that simple and there's a twist that comes at you out of the blue, her dead husbands parents now want partial custody of Piper. Faith is beside herself, calls her friend who is an attorney and gets one. Meanwhile earlier in the story Sam gave her 15k to ensure his complete solitude. The other part that brings Sam out of his shell is he runs out of coffee. These two become fast and easy friends and when Piper goes to spend two weeks at Grandma and Grandpap's things take a more intimate turn and spark they did. Yowza! Faith is a selfless and giving person, and so is Sam when it comes down to it. There are things that play out at the end that you don't really know which way they'll go. The end moves rather quickly so you have to pay attention, but not too fast where you're lost. This was a great little read. I loved the way Sam sobered up on his own, put Faith and Piper before all else and how dedicated Faith was. I really enjoyed reading this one. **arc from NetGalley and Entangled in exchange for a fair review** |
An ok read for me. It was a little unbelievable for me. Rock star romance set in a small town in Georgia. |
Set in the small town of Dale, GA, Storming the Castle follows Sam, a famous musician, and Faith, who owns the Bed and Breakfast he stays at. Sam needs to get away from everything and is hoping to find inspiration for his next album. His manager sets him up for the summer at Faith's B&B so he can get away from everything and hopefully avoid being recognized. Faith has a small daughter, Piper, who is her whole world. She also has a great group of friends and family who care a lot for both her and Piper. I think her friends were one of my favorite parts of the book. The author did a great job crafting Sam and Faith's relationship. Even though they were both attracted to each other early on it didn't feel like insta-love. There are a few other issues that Faith encounters relating to her in-laws but I feel like they were well handled and fit within the overall story arc. I wished there had been a little more to the resolution and ending, but overall I enjoyed the story. |

A typical romantic book a bit shallow in some places you could guess the outcome after the first chapter. A summer pool read. The characters could have been more developed instead of being sterotyped i.e. blond, sexy, musician depending on alchol to get through the day. |
Sam is a man that thinks of Faith's feelings at times, "he was tempted to add condoms to his shopping list, but he didn’t think she’d appreciate that. Maybe he’d make a run into town himself if things headed in that direction." Sam doesn't mind asking the hard question, “just admiring the view,” he answered, jogging a little to catch up to where she waited.“ Are you wearing another one of those barely-there thongs?” I loved this book, I love when a story takes place in small towns. |
