I loved this book! I haven't read ant other books in this series son now I'm going to have to go back and read the rest. |
Are you ready to feel the burn? Rhetorical question because of course you are. How can you pass up hot firefighters and cops? Add in that the fact that Kimberly Kincaid has written what has quickly become my favourite book of hers in Deep Burn and you have zero excuses to pass this book up. OMG, how I loved this book and Shae and Capelli. I was so excited to read it that I may have squealed like a tween when I got my grubby hands on it. Seriously, I have read this book more than once since I got it, know it almost word for word and I still want to go back and read it. I FREAKING LOVED IT. I will say my love for this book is twofold. Firstly there is the love for the writing and storyline. The author does an amazing job of blending romance, hot, hot sex, humour, heart, character development and suspense and making the storyline flow but keep you hooked at the same time. You can totally get lost in the world she has created and not feel bad about it. Hell I would pack my bags and move there if I could. My other love for this book is the characters. I am the first to say that after Skin Deep that I was fascinated by firefighter Shae McCulloch. There was just something about her that drew me in and I needed to know more. Cue the girly squealing when it was announced she was going to be the lead in this book. After reading Deep Burn, I have a serious girl crush. Shae is one of those characters that come along and you love them instantly. She is so much more than just a firefighter and we get to see what makes Shae tick and be who she is. The Starsky to Capelli’s Hutch. “A muscle pulled tight over the line of Capelli’s jaw, and in that second, Shae realized how hard he’d been fighting for his composure. And just how badly she wanted to wreck it.” Ooooh James Capelli is just divine, hot, dreamy, intense, nerdy and so not what you expect when you scratch the surface. If I say I have a girl crush on Shae it’s nothing compared to how much I love Capelli. Who knew that just under the surface of the uber intense cyber geek there lay a dirty talker who can certainly follow through on that talk. Lucky Shae. But he also has many complex layers that make him the man he is and the perfect Hutch to Shae’s Starsky. Put these two together and sparks will fly. Shae and Capelli are absolutely perfect for each other. While they have enough chemistry to burn your ereader, (wait for the life affirming scene that is hotter than hot) they are also the light to each other’s dark. From their adorkably awkward first attempt at flirting at the grocery store, (so cute) to the heart-warming ending that will leave you with a big fat smile. Shae and Capelli are just undeniably right for each other. “Do you want to tell me what you do want?” “You, Shae. I want you.” And just like that, his composure shattered. Yes I’ve neglected the suspense side, but you really need to experience it to fully enjoy it. No spoilers from me. Sorry, not sorry. Let’s just say that the bad guy made my skin crawl and leave it at that. I know I’ve waffled on, but it’s so hard for me to contain the love for this book, Capelli and Shae plus all the characters that make up both Station Seventeen and the Intelligence Squad. More I need more to feed my addiction. Do you hear me Kimberly Kincaid, MORE!!!! |

I have read all of Kimberly Kincaid books and each one is better than the next. I love the interaction between everyone.. Kimberly had me on the edge of my seat and laughing. I loved this book,, |
You can never go wrong with a book by Ms Kincaid, and this one is no exception. Book 2 of her Station Seventeen series, will keep you on the edge of your seat. Our main characters are firefighter Shae McCullough and Remington’s Intelligence Unit surveillance expert, James Capelli. Both characters are strong, though it took me a while to like Shae. She is impulsive and when put on desk work, she hones in on her instincts, much to the dismay of James Capelli. But once they start working together to solve an arson case, the attraction becomes apparent. The story is filled with suspense, dangerous fires, dead bodies, James’s past coming back to haunt him, too many coincidences, and of course romance. Let’s not forget a good cast of secondary characters. In addition to all this, it’s also a story about how our past, whether as a child or later in life, affects us to be who we are today. Another well written story by this talented author. I was gifted this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own. |

When I heard that Capelli was going to be the hero in the second installment of Station 17, I had no idea what to expect. You see from the first book I pictured him as a nerdy, computer geek. Sorry, (not) it was my imagination putting specific looks to him. But clearly he is a hunk under all those brains. And OMG, Shae, what a badass firefighter she is in this book, a real rule breaker, risk taker girl. What I enjoyed the most about this second installment of suspense and romance is that even though you knew who was being paired off, the way it occurred and the drama leading up to the relationship and the crux of the book could not be predicted. I actually put the book down at one point because it was so intense; even though I knew the heroine and the hero would survive. But I had to catch my breath after another unexpected twist. I think the author did a phenomenal job of tying this story into Book 1 of Station 17, and playing off of the previous villain's co-conspirators. I can easily say that Capelli is clearly my new 'geeky', hunky, book boyfriend. |
Shae is a good host to James, “heck yes, Starsky. I hope you’re hungry, because I can order Chinese food like nobody’s business.” James just needs his woman at times, “you, Shae. I want you.” And just like that, his composure shattered. Capelli rushed forward, slanting his mouth over hers as their bodies crashed together." I really liked this book, James was so logical and was perfect for Shae. |
Kincaid does serious research for books. Her knowledge of fires, arson, and basic firefighting is extensive. Station Seventeen is back again hunting an arsonist and murderer. Working with the police intelligence unit Shae is helping to find the suspect. She witnessed one fire and has a personal stake in the outcome. She is brassy, silly, and risky with actions and words. Her complete opposite is James Capelli, geeky brainiac with a mind made for puzzles and a seriously secretive past. The two make an odd couple but produce very intense fireworks. Great series about firefighters and is not only sexy but suspenseful, I couldn't put it away. I found the characters familiar from reading the first book but it wasn't necessary to read beforehand, this one is a standalone. I received an ARC from Netgalley, my review written voluntarily. |

An absolutely fantastic book from start to finish! Fast paced, full of suspense, scorching sexy times, and a story and characters that grab your attention and hold it. Put this one on the top of the must read list. Shae McCullough, a firefighter at station seventeen, and James Capelli, a specialist in the Elite Investigations unit for the Remington Police dept find themselves neck deep in a murder/arson investigation that could put both their lives at risk. These two seem like an odd pairing but somehow they just work on and off the case! If you enjoy your romance with a whole lot of steam and suspense, don't miss this one! I highly recommend it. |
This is a firefighter/police story that goes from 0-60 in a few pages. Two suspicious fires, two dead bodies, a female firefighter who is an adrenaline junky, and a gorgeous nerdy tech genius with some OCD, are partnered to work this case. Things get hot! Shea McCullough is the only female firefighter at Station Seventeen. Although she does admit to a hyperactive libido, it doesn't include her brothers at the firehouse. Shea drives the fire truck and loves the power of it. They respond to an out of control fire suspected to be a meth lab, and go to work, the fire is getting stronger and her superiors call them out. But Shea disobeys to help a rookie remove a body, a dead body with his throat cut. There was already a dead body Shea found and removed. The police are called, and the investigation begins. She was surprised to find James Capelli in on the investigation. Capelli is a civilian IT specialist with the 33rd Precinct. Not disappointed, Capelli is a computer geek with sexy glasses she would like to get to know better. James Capelli has an eidetic memory, he's a genius at all things computer related and can't function if things aren't exactly black and white. He has been watching Shea for a long time, but her hyperness and unpredictable behavior made him crazy. Working with her was going to kill him, or make him fall in love! This story moves fast and the suspense never lets up. I couldn't put it down. Capelli has some secrets he keeps hidden very deep and Shea has a soft vulnerable side she wants no one to see. The romance is as hot as the fires. This can be read as a stand alone, but the first book and novella about Station Seventeen are great reads. I received this ARC from the publisher and Netgalley for an honest review. Pat Fordyce |
Ms. Kincaid sure knows how to spin a realistic story. I liked this although I did have difficulties with the heroine. |
