I decided not to finish this book because I didn't feel a strong connection to the story or characters. I will not be rating it or writing a full review, but I appreciate the opportunity.

I was a little confused when I first started Sunlit Surrender. I should have known that Jess Dee would make this story both interesting and confusing.

Bianca is going through a divorce but has to be on the island for her brother’s wedding. She is in no mood to celebrate and is not interested in anything going on, but, for Mack and Aidan, she’ll put on the act. Until she steps out of her room and runs into one hell of a man. Brody … a man that may take her mind off her troubles.

Brody can’t keep his mind off Bianca. She’s hot, sexy and everything he ever dreamed his woman would be. Interludes with her are not going to be all that he wants. He wants forever and he knows that he is going to have to work for that. But, if he has anything to say about it, he will get to the bottom of why she is resisting the inevitable.

It takes Bee opening herself up, looking at her flaws, acknowledging them and speaking about them to really start the healing process. She also has to get “him” to understand them and accept her for who she is and what she wants. She also has to find it in herself to forgive him. Broderick Evans saw what his life would be like without Bianca Evan in his life. It’s time to tell her just how he feels, what he wants and get her to agree to “burn the papers”.

I was thrilled when I realized what was going on. I couldn’t have been happier for both of these characters. Their back-story was beautifully told by Jess Dee. She made us understand the depth of their feelings and just what can happen if you compromise with the one you love.

Bianca/Bee is at the festivities weekend for her brother’s wedding at Bandicoot Cove. It has been a rough year for Bee, Bee had met and married her husband right from HS when she was seventeen years old. After over ten years of marriage Rick- Bee’s husband and Bee separated for a year now and divorce papers have been drawn up. Rick and Bee had grown apart somehow. This weekend Bee just wanted to relax and enjoy the festivities before her big brother’s wedding. She wanted to forget about the pain of ehr failed marriage. Then Bee runs into the best looking man she has ever seen- Brody. The chemistry was hot between them. Brody is also getting a divorce.
This was a good novella. I wish it had been longer but it was a short hot read It also had twists and turns that I really enjoyed. I liked how Bee didn’t just walk away from her marriage easily. But I did like Brody and Bee together. I liked the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend.

I love second chance romance books. I am not really a fan when it includes married people who are headed for divorce. Marriage is suppose to be the ultimate HEA in books. I HATE when people pretend to be strangers! UGH!! so dumb!!

A woman ready to sign divorce papers meets a handsome stranger at an exclusive resort. The man bares a resemblance to her ex, is she totally over him?

A super steamy island adventure that will leave you wanting more!

This novella was very interesting because like the others in this series it’s steamy as all can be but unlike the other there is no menage going on. There are some twists and turns that are attention grabbers. Bianca is at her big brother’s wedding and on her mind are the divorce papers waiting for her signature back home. Hoping to move on from her problem and her soon to be ex-husband she has an island fling with Brody. Both have baggage that together they unpack and things take come interesting turns. It was a 4 star read that I really enjoyed.

What a great story. Getting back together and listening to each other is really the hardest thing in any relationship but this one they have a mountain to climb to make it work. This story is so sweet and heartbreaking but so good at the same time!

DNF -- I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.

OK, technically I did get to the end of this book. But at 34% I started skipping to get to a point, and after that I skimmed to the end. This book's "hook" did NOT work for me. Not only did it not work for me, it actually made me irrationally angry. I'm not even kidding. I started reading, got to the point where our heroine and hero meet, started getting REALLY confused, had a theory, then read something that nullified that theory, then got more confused, then wondered if my theory was correct despite inner musings that made it truly unbelievable, and finally couldn't take it anymore and started skipping until I could confirm my theory. Then I got really really mad because the way the heroine's inner thoughts were written, it did NOT make sense. So not only did I not like this hook (my theory) in general, but I felt like it was not done well.

The stupid thing is, I've read a few books by this author before, though granted they were a few years ago, so I'd been anticipating an enjoyable read. But despite all the anger from above, I was actually pretty bored. Bored with the characters, even bored with the sex! And being bored with the sex is not a good sign for an erotica type book. Maybe I was bored because I didn't like the characters, or because I was already so irrationally angry; it's a distinct possibility.

And after my theory was confirmed, I started skimming to see where this all was going to go, and got mad at the miscommunications that were continually perpetuated for no reason I could understand. And I just didn't care about their problems.

Take all this with a grain of salt. I can't divulge the hook, b/c that would be spoilery to the extreme, but not everyone will have a problem with it. And since I think that affected my enjoyment of every aspect, it kind of makes the rest of my opinions null and void outside of that. Sometimes I just get heated, you know? And yesterday was definitely a day for that. Since I did skim to the end, if I rated it it would probably be a 1 star for me. But since I didn't honestly read the whole thing, I usually don't give a rating. I can't decide if the skimming was enough to validate my opinion. I almost think it was. *shrugs*

Bianca Rogers just wants to relax and celebrate her brother’s wedding at the exotic Bandicoot Cove resort. The last thing she expects is to be knocked off her feet by Brody Evans.

The chemistry between Brody and Bianca is scorching hot. She’s everything he wants in a woman.

But they’ve come to the island with baggage that can’t be ignored forever, and their previous mistakes and the circumstances that have led them to the island soon demand attention. As desire transforms into love, it’s time to see if the past is going to get in the way of any happy-ever-after there could be in their future.

Bandicoot Cove is the place to go, to cut loose. In more ways than one. Escapism at it's finest. Jess Dee delivers a story of emotional discovery, sexual awakening and starting over all in a handful of pages. Not bad for a first impression.

Sunlit surrender is the return to Bandicoot Cove where Aidan and Mack are getting married. We get to meet Aidan's sister Bianca and discover her life.

She's on the island close to signing her divorce papers. She meets a man, Brody, and he's getting a divorce too. Sparks quickly fly and the two have an off the charts chemistry. Both have quite a bit of baggage and when they dig into their pasts things are going to take quite a turn.

It's a good read and I enjoyed it.

I was tossing around a 2 and 3 star with this book. I was kind of hoping for more. But I guess that is why ex's are meant to remain that way.

RATING 4.5 STARS

Sunlit Surrender is part of the Bandicoot Cove series and is by Jess Dee. Although I’ve had a couple of her books on my list, this is the first book I’ve read by Jess. I honestly have to wonder why because I loved her writing. This book was sexy, so sweet and when I thought I understood what was happening, she found a way to surprise me. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Bianca Rogers or Bee as most call her, is in Bandicoot Cove for the destination wedding of her brother. It’s been a very rough year for Bee. She met and married her husband, Rick right out of high school. She was only seventeen years old. After over ten years of marriage, Bee and Rick had separated. The divorce papers were waiting, only requiring signatures. She and Rick had grown apart, the distance seeming insurmountable. This weekend, she just wanted to relax and enjoy the festivities. To forget the hole in her heart that just didn’t seem to close up. When she literally ran into the best looking man she’d ever seen who smelled even better, Brody Evans, and chemistry sparked between them, things started looking even better.

This was fairly short, about 128 pages, but there was so much inside. I fell in love with Bianca and Brody. These two together had chemistry like crazy. I was getting to know them as they revealed themselves to each other. I loved the way Jess Dee told this story and I loved what she did! This was such a wonderfully entertaining little book and I’m so glad I read it. I definitely want to read more by her.

I have to say that I really did not enjoy this book at all. The idea that they pretend to not know each other at the wedding was confusing and odd to me. And then to obviously not care enough to try to work things out over a year but can magically fix their issues in one weekend of sex, is incomprehensible. I just did not see this story being as poorly done as it was. The writing was also a bit sub-par for my liking. Not more than a 2 star effort for me.

This book was interesting and at first I thought something was up and the pieces quicly added up. When your soulmate has found you not much can make you leave them permanently.
