Easy uncomplicated read. Beautiful successful rich and talented man and scared unsure woman whose otherwise fierce in her career as a Secret Service Agent . Both have difficult/non ideal relationships with their fathers.

I wanted more. I like that Rafe's a musician and music was I the story. I don't feel like I knew enough about Avery personally. Maybe, I need to revisit the book again to determine if I've missed something.

I would recommend as a quick light read. If only to get to know Rafe Lawson and friends. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for opportunity to read, rate and review this book.

The sweet, smooth seduction of mind and body ignite the tale of two soulmates that resembles the forever so classic theme of the two families fueling with lovers caught in between the powerful fathers and their hopes and desires for their children's future.
Rafe Lawson is as hot of a character as the picture on the cover of this book. He reminds me of steaming liquid velvet if there is such thing, with the tender, sexy, alluring way of his with the women. He has spent his life rebelling towards his father and building his own empire and music career.
Avery Richards is tough as nails heroine, a CIA agent, on the fast track to being one of the top agents in the country. Her soft, feminine side is pulling Rafe like no woman for a long time, and one of the most popular bachelors is about to fall, and fall hard.
Even though the story is wrapped in the dance of attraction, temptation, and adoration, the references to the current events and the awareness of the challenges in today's society where not ignored or passed over by the author giving the tale relevance on a completely different level.
One of my personal preferences with romance stories is that after the meet cute and the ignition of the attraction the protagonist has the focus on each other and don't have other dates/interests/lovers on the side. With Rafe trying to resist the allure of adoration he feels for Avery, he does everything he can think of, to stay away from her and to get over her, even seeing other women.
The push and pull between the hero and the heroine were enticing and entertaining with palpable intensity. As they get closer together and the trust is formed, they open up and expose their deepest vulnerabilities, they learn to make compromises and own up to their growing feelings, their reverence to each other

Well Lawson family followers, it’s finally here, Surrender To Me! Prolific author, Donna Hill has penned the story of the charming, elusive eldest son of the Louisiana Lawson family, Raford ‘Rafe’ Lawson. Rafe is the sexy, sax playing, ‘do his own thing’, love ‘em and leave ‘em Lawson sibling. No political office or desk job for him. So, who has caught the attention of this wealthy, 36 year old die-hard bachelor? Her name is Avery Richards, a Secret- Service Agent, who is stationed in Washington, D.C. Is a long- distance relationship in Rafe’s future? Not for the ever resourceful Rafe Lawson.
Avery is herself the daughter of a Washington politician. She, like Rafe, has some serious father issues. If you recall, Rafe and his father, Branford Lawson, are constantly at odds because of Rafe’s lifestyle. Although Rafe tries to put distance between him and Avery, his unexplainable attraction to her prevents him from doing so for very long. The chemistry between them is sizzling, and avoidance is out of the question. Talk about frequent flyer miles….New York, D.C., or Paris…if Avery is there, Rafe will follow.
The storyline includes Rafe’s backstory giving insight into the reason he refuses to surrender to love and commitment. No spoilers; I’ll let you discover the reason Rafe is the ‘playa’ that he is, but here’s a little hint- 9/11. You’ll get that when you read the book. Ironically another catastrophic event occurs that involves Avery, and Rafe’s father that is like déjà vu for Rafe.
The Lawson family members are all present and accounted for in this story, and I enjoyed the reunion. Surrender To Me is a story of family, finding love and second chances. Thank you Donna Hill for Rafe’s long-awaited story. It was worth the wait.

Rafe Lawson finally has his story told. This is the story I have been waiting for. The playboy musician who lives life on his terms will meet someone that brings up feelings that he has been trying to escape. Secret Service agent Avery Richards has lived her life always trying to please her father. Meeting Rafe will throw her into a tailspin.

Once Rafe reveals to Avery the reasons behind his free wheeling lifestyle your heart will feel his pain. But a new crisis will put things in perspective and both Avery and Rafe, along with both their fathers will realize what is really important.

A much anticipated and well written story.

What a hot cover! Whew. Good job, Kimani. Rafe Lawson is a successful sax player. He knows how to plays instruments and women. That is, until he meets Agent Avery Richards. Then, everything changes. Surrender to Me begins with their meeting and instant attraction. From then on, we see firsthand what Michael Bolton means when he sings, When A Man Loves A Woman. Ladies, you shouldn't have to run down a man. If he wants you, he will come after you. Rafe traveled across states and even another country to get his woman. I Loved this hot, scintillating read. Donna Hill is one of the best.
3.5 stars.
Thank you Netgalley!
