Plain Retribution is the second book in the Amish Country Justice series and even though I haven't read the first book I had no trouble following the storyline. For the longest time while reading it I didn't connect with the characters and so I was sure that I wasn't going to end up liking the story...however, the ending was great and made me really enjoy the book overall.
I liked how there were Amish characters in this Love Inspired Suspense novel (I found that unique), however I didn't care for the romance. I can't even put my figure on why exactly except that I just didn't like it. The mystery was good and there was suspense throughout, so I definitely had no trouble reading it and the story flew by.
All in all, I enjoyed Plain Retribution. It's not a favorite, but it was good.
*I received a complimentary eBook copy of this book for my honest review. As always, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.*

This is my first book by Dana R. Lynn but it won't be my last. Even though this is the second book in a series, I read it as a standalone. I was able to follow the start. I was able to follow the events of the book. I do want to read the first book though to glean more information.
As Miles hunts for the offenders, the action and mystery left me chomping at the bit. I was so intrigued by this book. Rebecca is deaf and since I taught ASL to several of my special needs preschoolers who were unable to speak due to autism, I was very interested in this aspect of the book. Rebecca certainly copes well and the need for someone who knows ASL in all businesses/institutions is evident here as Miles was the only person able to communicate with Rebecca. I was thankful as I read that he was there for her though. Readers will enjoy the thrill and nail-biting tension in this book.
I am rating this book 5*****stars. I highly recommend it to readers. This is clean fiction and appropriate for teens as well as adults.
I received a copy of this book in kindle format from netgalley and Love Inspired Suspense in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own. I was not required to write a positive review.

Plain Retribution is a frantic story of kidnapping freedom them kidnapping twice over - but not just of one person but a group of people - The second time they are never to be found - it is a gothic tale about poor Rebecca who was kidnapped with some of her friends during Rumspringa - they were found and freed(all but one was found alive) - Praise GOD - but ten years later hey wait I cannot tell you the whole story but what starts happening is bizarre - now - what is happening to one of the girls and what there was was a major major secret I am not telling you about Rebecca. Then there is the protective police officer who is falling for her - but he can't because he is the head of the case. So what will happen? What happened to her friends? Will they find all her friends? will she remain so defensesive? Will she let them down for her knight in shining armour? Will he survive? This book is awesome, heart pounding, I honestly was scared in the middle of the night alone and enjoyed it very much - this book is phenomenal.

What a breathtaking, fast-paced, action-packed, suspenseful story this was! I was glued to the book from the start to finish, it was impossible to put down because you never knew what kind of twist or attack the protagonist had to face next. The anticipation in the tale is intense!
The only thing that stayed the same, stayed constant, was the unwavering faith their had in God, the trust they had that He will guide them and protect them no matter what they have to face. The faith was sincere, natural to them, and well embedded into the story.
Rebecca Miller was a heroine I not only liked but respected immensely. She knew who she was, she was comfortable with herself, she is capable, able, smart, and sweet. The insights to the world of non-hearing people were eye openers to me, the author pointing out and highlighting things, habits, and challenges that made me take notice.
Miles Olsen as a complex hero was well done. Him struggling with his past mistakes, being honest about them, learning from them and growing as a man, police officer, and a friend was a remarkable to witness. Despite his past problems and behaviors, or maybe because he was so honest about it, I liked him. He is protective, caring, kind man, his growing feelings towards Rebecca were endearing, and his sweet disposition when it came to her was adorable. His temperament was so cool and calm until Rebecca walked into the picture.
The tempo of the story is fast and escalating as the culprit's crimes and assaults get even more violent and intense. I enjoyed the story immensely, the threatening, deadly suspense, the delightful and charming budding romance, and the strong belief that God will guide them and keep them safe, all the component of the tale were well twined together, making it flow naturally from the pages while being engaging and entertaining!
~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

Police Officer Miles Olsen is driving home one night when an Amish girl runs out into the street.
Ten years ago Rebecca Miller and her friends were kidnapped, and now one by one her friends are being picked off by someone who wants revenge for what they did to send their abductor to jail. Born deaf, the only person she can talk to on the force is Miles, who learned because his grandparents were deaf.
Miles insists in taking her home and checking out her place because what happened didn't seem like a random act, and when her roommate goes missing, and then turns up dead, they know that they have a killer on the loose. Will Miles be able to stop the killer and keep Rebecca safe, before it's too late?
I like that Miles is put in charge of Rebecca's case, he's determined to keep her safe and stop the threats that haunt her. He takes every precaution he can, but he finds himself growing to enjoy her company along with her smile and quick wit.
Rebecca is my favorite character, she is a survivor. When she left the Amish she held onto her faith, while taking advantage of what the English world had to offer, like an education, deaf friends, and a cell phone that helps her communicate with those who don't sign. She wants to be an interpreter to help other deaf people.
I like how Rebecca and Miles are there for each other, and Rebecca helps Miles to cope with his sister's murder, counseling him in faith.
This was an excellent read, fast paced action, mystery, and plenty of suspense, as well as sweet moments. Rebecca is a fantastic heroine, brave in the face of danger. Fantastic read!

Having not read the first book in this trilogy, I liked that the author filled in some of the background material so I wasn't totally lost. Lots of suspense in this fast paced story. Having the main character being deaf brings insight into the world of deafness. Recommended!

Plain Retribution will have your riveted and page turning as fast as you can, with non-stop action, this book will have you ducking as shots seem to come out of no where.
Rebecca was a young Amish girl when she was kidnapped and tortured along with some other girls, while one died the man was brought to justice and as far as she knew he was in jail.
All of a sudden she is being attacked, but why, had the evil one escaped from jail? Why are things happening all over again? Will Rebecca ever be safe, and what of the others? Can Detective Miles help her, even with their growing affection, will one or both of them end up dead.
This book has a bit of everything, our Rebecca being deaf, and Miles having grown up with deaf relatives really has her life on the line, but why?
If you enjoy a fast pace, non-stop action book, this one is for you, you will never see coming what is about to happen!
I received this book through Net Galley and Love Inspired Suspense, and was not required to give a positive review.

This is book two in the Amish Country Justice series, however it is a stand alone book. I am sure I missed some history of some of the sub characters yet it did not make this novel hard to keep up with.
This novel is full of mystery, suspense, and romance. It is not your typical Amish type novel. Even though, Rebecca Miller, grew up Amish, she has chosen the English world. The Amish do appear and play a role in this book but it is not the primary focus.
Rebecca Miller is a beautiful, kind hearted, deaf woman. She is just trying to forget a horrible past experience in her life and move on. Yet, is her past trying to catch up with her or is this new threat totally unrelated.
Miles Olsen is a handsome detective whom happens to know sign language and has helped Rebecca in her past. Will he be able to overcome some of his own fears and solve the threat against Rebecca before more harm comes to her?

Plain Retribution is a book a Christian romance with suspense. It's set in both a small town and Amish country. Ten years ago Rebecca Miller, a deaf Amish girl was kidnapped along with three other girls, after being rescued their testimony helps put the man in jail. After surviving that ordeal she has tried to move on with her life in the "English" world where she feels more at ease with the deaf community. Now Rebecca and the other girls who were abducted are being targeted.
Officer Miles Olsen is the only one on the police force fluent in ASL and he must protect Rebecca and bring the kidnapper to justice. Officer Olsen has the need to prove himself after he let his emotions get the better of him in the past on a case that he still feels guilty over.
This book is the second in a series called Amish Country Justice. I have not read the first book, but I had no problems following the story and I think that Plain Retribution can be read as a stand alone book. I really enjoyed this book, I read it all in one day. The beginning gripped me and pulled me in. It is a suspenseful romance, but it wasn't scary or grossly detailed. This story has some Amish living scenes in it, but it's mostly set in the "English" world, as that where the main characters live, I'm not sure why there is an Amish girl on the cover. The love story is sweet and it is a clean read. I can't wait to read the rest of this series. I'll be following this author for sure.
