Cowboy’s Legacy is book three in the Cahill Ranch series by B.J. Daniels. I want to admit up front that I am a romance reader and I especially love romances involving cowboys. I’ve been wanting to try a book by B.J. Daniels for a while now and one look at this cover and I decided this one would be my first. This book is so different than what I thought it would be. It’s more of a suspense filled race against time as the Hero tries to rescue the woman he loves from a kidnapper. If I had known this up front, I might not have chosen this book but I am so glad that I did. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and was surprised over and over again as events unfolded.
Maggie Thompson has been dating Sheriff Flint Cahill for quite awhile. These two have been introduced in previous books in this series but even though I haven’t read them, it didn’t take away from the book at all. It was evident the connection these two had and Flint has asked Maggie to move in with him. But their romance has not been uneventful so far. Flint’s ex-wife has caused Maggie considerable trouble. And Maggie has a few skeletons in her closet as well. Things she is sure would drive Flint away. Maggie has finally decided to say yes to Flint. She’s in love with him and it is time to trust in her heart. Except it is also the day Maggie disappears, the day she is taken.
Flint is desperate to find Maggie. He understands that it is protocol but he is taken off the case. Every hour that passes is an hour that he could lose her forever. He’s not supposed to be on the case but he can’t help it. He has to find her. It’s almost Christmas. Flint had dreamed that this would be their first Christmas together as an engaged couple. He’d been carrying around the ring for months. Now he might never get to give it to her.
This book was non-stop, intense, crazy suspenseful. There are several little side stories going on at the same time. Every chapter brought something new and it kept me on the edge of my seat.
So, now you know that this isn’t really a regular romance. It’s a crazy, wild ride that will have you biting your nails with each page that you turn. I am so glad I took a chance on this book. I hope you will too.

This installment of this series, which I've enjoyed up until now, was too all over the place for me. It skipped points of view so abruptly I couldn't keep up with the narrative well enough to really connect. Additionally with so much plot happening and the several twists of the story it all felt very overwhelming that I just lost touch with the characters and their plights.

COWBOYS LEGACY is Flint and Maggie’s story which is part three of the Cahill Ranch series. COWBOYS LEGACY is actually the first book I’ve read in this new series by B.J. Daniels and needless to say it whet my curiosity about the previous stories but didn’t intrude in enjoying this tale with its seemingly endless twists and turns. I guess that is to be expected when one of the leading characters is repeatedly referred to as being unhinged. While diligently trying to be the cheering squad for the characters that are falling in love you can’t help but cringe at the endless possibilities for evil that surround them.
Flint and Maggie’s story is truly a testament to love and veracity. Can’t think of a couple with more seemingly impenetrable barriers to conquer. But they were meant to be together.
Maggie was the target – the object of interest of Celeste, Flint’s ex-wife who just wouldn’t go quietly into the night even though any remaining relationship with Flint was only in her mind. She was cagey enough to avoid any evidence pointing to her as the culprit when Maggie fell victim into some rather unpleasant pranks. In truth Maggie was fearful of just what Celeste would do next. And it was that fear that kept Maggie from moving ahead with anything remotely looking permanent with Flint.
Celeste left Flint looking for greener richer pastures than a sheriff could afford. But now she has an unhealthy obsession with things Flint. And that’s how Maggie wound up with a target on her back. Maggie is in love and turns a deaf ear on friends who advise her that Flint has too much baggage. But doesn’t everyone have their own baggage. Maggie certainly feels as though hers is a detriment toward a future with Flint.
Question is whether Celeste is the only thorn in Maggie and Flint’s budding relationship – or is Maggie using that as an excuse to not face her own issues.
So living in a small town makes it increasingly difficult to stay away from the ex-wife. And as a result Maggie’s problems are escalating.
B.J. Daniels has made COWBOYS LEGACY quite a nail biting, page turner of a story. Guaranteed to keep you on your toes.

Such a soap opera. I felt like I was watching Pretty Little Liars Or Days of Our Lives. After about 1/3 of the book, I had a headache from rolling my eyes and decided to give up. Very disappointing

After Sheriff Clint Cahill divorce from his ex-wife Celeste, he was a loner. That is until he met Maggie Thompson. They grew close enough that she agreed to move in with him. He hurried home after she called to tell him and tell him she'd be there waiting for him, only to find her car open in the drive, his house empty, her cell phone on the floor and plenty of blood.
Calling for assistance, and afraid for Maggie, the only person he could think that would want to hurt Maggie was his spiteful ex.
There are many twists and turns and multiple suspects, some are eliminated, but others remain.
This is a well crafted romantic suspense done in the style B.J.Daniels is noted for.
Don't miss it or you'll regret it.
