Three beautiful and well written Amish stories. Each selection is well written with a good plot and lovable characters.

Such a sweet set of novellas! Probably my favorite thing about the book as a whole is how they are all tied together, from one generation to the next. It is so wonderful to see how the little babies from the first story grow up and play out in future stories. While not necessarily a Christmas book, the story crescendos all happen over Christmas...but this would make a great any-time-of-the-year book!

The Beloved Christmas Quilt is a book I can see myself returning to again and again for the feeling of joy and comfort I found reading it! Wanda Brunstetter, along with her daughter in law Jean, and granddaughter Richelle, have woven together 3 stories, that consecutively follow 3 generations of Amish women in the same family. This really draws the reader in to the family's lives and helps the reader identify with the characters.
In Wanda's installment, we meet Luella, a young Amish lady caring for her friend Dena who is very ill with heart disease at a young age. Luella cares for Dena's son and makes meals for the son and for Dena's husband. When Dena passes, Atlee (her widower) and Luella continue to spend time together despite her parents feelings about their age difference. Luella and Atlee eventually prevail and prove that love is greater than any age difference. In Jean Brunstetter's story, we read about Luella and Atlee's daughter Karen and her husband Seth and their children. They have moved to another Amish settlement a few hours from Karens' and Seth's parents in Lancaster county. Karen is having a difficult time adjusting to being away from extended family, especially when their youngest is born with a disability. She and Seth go through a difficult period while they learn what it truly takes to make marriage work. In Richelle Brunstetter's story, we are taken an additional twenty years in to the future, to meet Roseanna, Karen and Seth's oldest daughter, as she prepares for her wedding day, which has a very distressing outcome. When Roseanna's husband to be runs from the wedding, Roseanna faces a rough time of coping. Throughout these generations, there is a quilt that is passed down, with a psalm that ultimately brings each generation great peace and comfort. I cannot recommend this book highly enough.
