I was a little hesitant of reading a Christmas story in August....however, I love the work by all of these authors so it was an easy decision for me. I read this novel in a few sittings. Loved each and every story. Beautifully written. Thank you for the opportunity to read...and share it w/ others. It's on order for all of my local libraries...just in time for the Christmas season.

An Amish Christmas Love - Beth Wiseman, Amy Clipston, Ruth Reid, Kelly Irvin

A charming Christmas book comprised of four novellas written by four well-known Amish authors, Beth Wiseman, Amy Clipston, Ruth Reid, and Kelly Irvin.

Winter Kisses by Beth Wiseman

Naomi, age 25, who has never married, her mother, Barbara, her grandmother, Ruth, who are both widows, comprise the main characters in this book. Having rented the daadi haus to 3 men who will be working in the area for the month of December, they find that they are each attracted to one of the men. Will any of them find a new love in their life?

The Christmas Cat by Amy Clipston

Emma Bontrager, who was widowed in the month of July before this Christmas, finds a cat on her doorstep and shoos it away. She isn’t fond of cats, and the Amish don’t normally let pets in the house, but finds that it has returned to her door. She lets it in and gives it some food, to then find it curled up in her late husband’s chair. The cat seems to help her loneliness, so she lets it stay. It is Christmas Eve and she is supposed to go to a friend’s house for dinner, but it starts snowing very heavily, so she decides not to venture out. The family becomes worried about her and the younger members go to check on Emma. While there, Christmas Eve becomes a special time they all will remember as they bond together.

Snow Angels by Kelly Irvin

Molly Shrock has been waiting for the man she loves, David Byler, to propose and just as it seems that he is ready to, the Englisher girl he had been serious about during his rumspringa returns from college to help her father who is ill. David thought his feelings were over for her, but once he sees her, finds the feeling still exist. Molly can tell and is very hurt. She finally decides to trust God to show them both His Will. Will they end up together and her prayers be answered? What part do snow angels play in their relationship?

Home for Christmas by Ruth Reid

Ellie Whetstone, who lives a very busy life as a show dog trainer, inherits her Amish aunt’s farm and accidentally meets her neighbor when her GPS leads her to the wrong farm. She hopes to sell the farm, but when she continually runs into her neighbor and his young daughter, she wonders if she is being too hasty with this decision. Will she decide the slower, Amish life is for her and finally settle down, or will she go ahead and sell her farm and return to being a trainer?

I found each story to be a delightful, easy Christmas read. I would highly recommend it to be added to anyone’s list of “Christmas” books to read.
I received a copy of this from Thomas Nelson publishers on Netgalley. I was under no obligation to give a review.

This is a sweet collection of Amish Christmas novellas by a group of great authors. Each story is about situations revolving around the holidays and how the characters cope with memories and life decisions at this special time of year.

Winter Kisses by Beth Wiseman is the story of three women in a family living together on their farm and working in a family florist. Ruth is the mother in law of Barbara and grandmother of Naomi. Ruth and Barbara are widows and Naomi has never been married and has never allowed anyone close enough to date her. She has seen the sorrow from the death of her father and grandfather and doesn't want to go through it herself. But the truth is that all three women are lonely for the love of a man in their life. When they rent out the daadi haus on their property to three Amish men from another area for a month while they work a job, there might be a change in the air.

In the Christmas Cat by Amy Clipston, Emma Bontrager is experiencing her first Christmas since her husband's death. She and her husband never had children so it is set to be a lonely time. Just as it start snowing on Christmas Eve, a stray cat refuses to leave her porch so she lets him inside to get away from the weather. She was supposed to eat with another family but decided the weather wasn't good to venture out in the icy conditions. Her only phone is in the barn so she doesn't go use it to let them know that she won't make it. The teenage children of the family and a couple of friends go check on her and wound up getting snowed it with her for the night. This is the sweet story of a group of caring kids spending their time with a widow as she remembers and shares the memories of her forty five years of marriage with her husband. This was probably my favorite of the novellas and is a story of love and hope for the future.

Snow Angels by Kelly Irvin is another great story of faith in God's will and discerning what that will is in their life. David Byler fell for Bobbie McGregor, an Englisch woman, during his rumspringa but she didn't want him to leave his faith and broke it off. She went off to college and tried to forget David. For a year David has been spending time with Molly Shrock from his church. Molly's family was not living in the community when David and Bobbie knew each other. Now, Bobbie is back working on her family ranch after her father had a heart attack. Bobbie is still in love with David. This is time of struggle in David's life where he has some decisions to make. He loved Bobbie when she broke it off. But, is he willing to leave the Amish community for Bobbie? Or does he love Molly?

In Home For Christmas by Ruth Reid, Ellie Whitstone drives to Michigan to see a home that she inherited from her Amish aunt Bonnie Whitstone. Ellie's parents were both Amish but when her father died, her mother left the faith and moved away with Ellie when she was very young. Her mother has told her that no one in the Amish community would welcome her. So she goes back to put the house on the market. When she accidentally mistakes a neighbor's house for her aunt's, she thinks her mom must be right. Ezra Mast and his daughter, Allison, live in the neighboring house and he doesn't seem to like Ellie at first. But Allison loves Ellie's dog, Lulu; they bond immediately. Ellie has a strong faith and as she reads her aunt's journal, she revisits her family roots and her history. Will she and Ezra become friends? Ellie lives in an RV and really has no home other than her aunt's house. What is in her future?

This are all good reads for the Christmas season. Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the opportunity to read and give an honest review.

Ever since discovering Beverly Lewis' books when I was a young teenager, I've always loved inspirational Amish fiction. The Amish culture is something I was never really familiar with before that, but I've come to really appreciate their culture through the beautiful books I've read about it. As well, anyone who knows me knows that I'm completely Christmas crazy, and I'll honestly read Christmas themed books at any time of the year, even in the crazy heat of summer like was the case with this one. So needless to say, when I found this book on Netgalley, the fact that it's a Christmas inspirational novella collection about the Amish culture, had me beyond belief excited to jump right into it, and I was pleasantly surprised by these beautiful stories about second chances, finding love, the importance of friendship, and relying on our Heavenly Father and faith through Him despite any obstacles thrown our way.

This book contains four separate novellas that don't connect to each other, and I'm going to quickly talk about each, and say which ones were my favorites.

The first story is Winter Kisses by Beth Wiseman, and this one focuses on three Amish women, and the home they've made for themselves together. Ruth, who's living with her daughter in law and granddaughter after the passing of both her beloved husband and son, Barbara; who often finds her mother in law trying her patience, and has never been herself after the loss of her husband, and Naomi; who's hesitant to ever fall in love after seeing how much the loss of love has affected her mother and grandmother. Their world changes in ways they never expect when three Amish gentlemen rent the daadi haus on their property, and soon each woman is questioning which direction God is telling them to go. This was definitely one of my favorites in the collection, as I really adored Naomi's character and her hesitancy to fall in love. Plus Ruth's antics definitely had me smiling and laughing throughout the story, and the connection between these three generation of women was beautifully told.

The Christmas Cat Amy Clipston was definitely my favorite of all the stories. This one focuses on an elderly Amish woman named Emma, who's spending her first Christmas alone since the death of her husband. Her and her beloved Henry always wanted children, but they were never blessed with any, and she's left feeling like she's all alone in the world. On Christmas Eve a stray cat finds its way to her porch, and soon she finds herself appreciating the companionship that's been sent her way in this furry creature. Younger members of the community decide to stop by and pay her a visit, and between visiting with the younger generation, and reminiscing about the beautiful marriage she shared with Henry, Emma comes to realize God's abounding love for her, and I can't recommend this beautiful story enough.

Snow Angels by Kelly Irvin was definitely my least favorite of this particular collection. It focuses on a young Amish man named David, who's been courting a lovely young girl named Molly, and its obvious to everyone that she's fallen head over heels for him. However, a blast from his past sets everything spiraling out of control, when the Englisch girl he pledged his heart to during his Rumspringa reappears, and states she still has feelings for him. While I did still enjoy this story overall, I really couldn't stand the way that David treated Molly for most of it, but I did love the sweet event that inspired the name for the story, and I really admired Molly's strong character, and her devotion to her faith.

Home For Christmas by Ruth Reid tells the story of Ellie, a dog trainer who's come back to her Amish roots she doesn't remember from childhood, after her beloved aunt passes away, and deeds her property to her. Ellie soon finds herself immersed in the Amish culture, and the welcoming way they make her feel. Her handsome next door neighbor, and his delightful daughter might also have something to do with it. Ellie's finally starting to wonder if this is the place she could truly belong, but could her heart truly reside somewhere that's been so different from anything she's ever known. This was another delightful Christmas tale, and I loved the fact that it was about an Englischer returning to her roots.

All in all, I completely adored this beautiful novella collection, and the way it emphasized the true reason for the season. I hadn't personally read anything else by any of these authors, but I definitely hope to change that in the future. I gave this one four out of five stars, and I hope come this holiday season that you'll all take a chance on this endearing novella collection that reminds us all of of what's truly important: family, friendship, love, and a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father.

An Amish Christmas Love is a collection of four novellas set around the Christmas season.

Winter Kisses by Beth Wiseman. Spinster Naomi lives with her mother, Barbara, and grandmother, Ruth. Barbara and Ruth are widows, while Naomi has never been married and does not believe she ever will. One winter, three guests will turn their world upside down. Will Naomi finally give into love even though it could mean heartbreak, will Barbara learn to love again, or will Ruth finally land her a new spouse! Another great novella by Wiseman. I loved Ruth, who reminded me of my great aunt and her determination to find a husband.

The Christmas Cat by Amy Clipston. Emma is facing her first Christmas alone in 45 years after her husband, Henry, passes away. She is surprised to be invaded by a cat who quickly takes up residence. After a snow storm keeps her from going to eat with friends, she invites unexpected guests into her home and opens her heart and shares her stories of love and her new-found friend’s love. What a cute novella about true love and loss and the healing power a sweet cat and a little friendship can bring.

Snow Angels by Kelly Irving. During Rumspringa, David has a relationship with Englisher, Bobbie. After realizing that he doesn’t want to leave his family and faith, she leaves for college and he moves on. Molly and David are in love and he is ready to make a commitment of marriage. Before he can, Bobbie shows back up and makes a play for him by declaring her love. Irving does a great job with this novella. It was a sweet love story that kept me engrossed until the very end. As much as I didn’t want to not like Bobbie, I really did as she knew Molly and David were together but still was set on breaking them up.

Home for Christmas by Ruth Reid. Following her GPS, Ellie thinks she arrives at her aunt’s home but realizes too late that she at the wrong address and has broken into Ezra's home! He is taken back by the Englisher but assists her in finding the right home. His sweet daughter and her dog become fast friends. Can they bring together two lonely people and create a family?

I enjoyed An Amish Christmas Love. All four of the novella had unique story lines and well-delvoped characters that were easy to love. If you are looking for a great Christmas or Amish read, this book is for you.
I received an advance reader copy of this book from netgalley in return for my honest opinion of the book.

It’s always hard to review a collection of novellas because I always like some stories better than others. The same is true in this compilation. I felt the Winter Kisses characters were underdeveloped—probably because there were 3 different storylines converging into one short story. It was an enjoyable idea, but seemed rushed. The Christmas Cat was a sweet story of a recent widow facing her first Christmas alone. A barn cat brings Emma hope along with the visit of 4 young people who come to see her on Christmas Eve. I thought it a sweet story. Snow Angels left me feeling like I needed more of a backstory to fully appreciate the emotions of David, Molly, and Bobbie. Once again, I think the novella format did not work in favor of this story. The final story, Home for Christmas, was an interesting idea of a young girl who had been Amish as a child, but taken away by her mother at a young age. The interplay between Ellie and Ezra was fun. I probably enjoyed this story the most of the four.

I absolutely adored this book. Amish fiction plus the Christmas season makes for the perfect, cozy escape.

This book is made up of four novellas. First, let me just say that I absolutely loved each and every one of them. I would say, perhaps, that 'The Christmas Cat' by Amy Clipston and 'Snow Angels' by Kelly Irvin were my favorites. They both were rich, wonderful stories that brought a smile to my heart and brought Christmas to me in the middle of July. One of my new Christmas favorites, for sure.

Four incredibly talented authors write some significant Amish fiction in this collection of novellas. It is a Five Star, Two Thumbs Up, and a Christmas Cookie type olio.

Rather than take on each novella, I want to review my favorite one. The Christmas Cat by Amy Clipston is not a typical romantic novel, but more of the reminiscences of an elderly lady who is sharing with four young people who came to bring her some cookies. She tells the story of falling in love with her husband, and how their love grew through the years, even though their one wish was never fulfilled. She tells of the struggles of their early years and trying to open a hardware store and not lose their house for lack of money.

These stories have a warmth to them that is lacking in a lot of stories that are published today. These four ladies who put these novellas together do their due diligence in research and in creating believable stories for those who love Amish fiction.

My thanks to Thomas Nelson for allowing me to read and review this book.

Snow Angels by Kelly Irving. Going through Rumspringa, David falls for an Englisher, Bobbie. He realizes he does not want to leave his faith and decides to stay Amish. He, then, falls for Molly and is ready to make a commitment of marriage. That is, until Bobbie shows back up. Will he break Molly's heart?

Home for Christmas by Ruth Reid. Depending on a faulty GPS, Ellie is sent to the wrong address and start breaking into Ezra's home! Does this really take her to the right turn she's been looking for in life?

Great Christmas read! 5 plus stars.

An Amish Christmas Love was such a treat to read, such a "Feel good" collection of holiday stories. And, what fun to read about winter in the midst of a hot Florida summer! Love each of these stories by some of my favorite Amish genre writers.
In Beth Wiseman's "Winter Kisses", there are three generations of Stoltzfus ladies living under one roof, Ruth, Barbara and Naomi. Ruth, Naomi's grandmother and Barbara's mother in law, is an extremely lonely widow who hopes to remarry, and also hopes for new love for her daughter in law Barbara, recently widowed, and for Naomi to find a special young man in their Amish community. When a few Amish men of different generations come to rent their "dawdi" house", Ruth seeks these men out as potential husbands for her, Barbara and Naomi, embarrassing Barbara and Naomi in the process. Naomi and Eli start a gradual friendship though Eli is quite hesitant due to a very difficult secret past. Barbara is also very hesitant, feeling it wrong to find new love.
In Amy Clipston's "The Christmas Cat", Emma, a new widow, reluctantly feeds and gives shelter from a storm to a stray cat that shows up on her porch. Stranded at home on Christmas Eve by a storm, she is visited by four young adults in her Amish community, who are concerned about her and come to check on her safety. When they are snowed in with her, it becomes an evening of cheer and companionship for all. I think this was my favorite story of this collection!
Kelly Irvin's "Snow Angels", bring the reader to Bee County, Texas, and in to the struggling relationship of David and Molly. Molly has deep feelings for David, who is home from his rumspringa, working and trying to win her heart. However, the young "English" lady he fell deeply for during his rumspringa has also returned to Bee County and does not want to give up her hope of a future with David in the "English" world. David has to do some serious soul searching to decide if he wishes to become baptized and have a life with Molly and his family or leave his family and community.
Ruth Reid's "Home for Christmas" is my second favorite in this collection. Ellie is visiting Ezra's community in order to restore and sell the home of her deceased and beloved Amish aunt. Meanwhile, Ezra is recently widowed and raising his young daughter who is suffering from seizures. His little girl takes an instant liking to Ellie. Ezra experiences many conflicted feelings over Ellie's connection with his daughter, as well as his daughter's strong connection with Ellie's dog. Will Ellie decide to become Amish? Will Ezra find a cause and treatment for his daughter's seizures? I encourage all who love the Amish genre to pick up this book!

These are some of my favorite books, because they are bite-sized! Four stories, each with the big theme of relationships coming to a head at Christmas time, and being in an Amish setting, but that's pretty much where the similarities end. This is good for someone who wants quick reads, without having to remember how the characters interweave from story to story. They were very sweet stories, too!
