Finally all the answers are revealed in this last book of the Cimarron Legacy series! What made this book different from the previous is that we not only get Cole and Mel's perspectives, we also get the villain's point of view a few times throughout the book. There seemed to be more talking and less adventure, despite the mine explosions. I was also looking forward to Cole and Mel developing a romance, but that thread was pretty lacking. Plot took center stage, and while it was good to see the Bodens reunited, I was disappointed that Cole and Mel didn't have more special moments together.

Like the old saying, this book started off with a bang – in fact with several of them! Explosions set at the Boden’s mining company leave several miners dead and adds another attack against their family to a growing list. Cole Boden and his siblings may be a bit closer to figuring out who wants the entire family dead but questions still remain.

Although there are touches of Connealy’s trademark humor in “Too Far Down”, I found the entire series to be somewhat more serious than previous ones. That did not hinder my enjoyment one little bit though. The author’s mastery of words and wonderful imagination are very evident throughout the story and I personally love the growing mystery and suspense that were present in this series. Plenty of action and danger keep things jumping and my pages turning. It was fun witnessing the interaction between Cole and longtime family friend Melanie Blake, knowing that she was Cole’s designated love interest yet wondering how in the world the pair would actually figure that out.

As always, a perfectly entertaining tale from one of the premiere western romance authors. I cannot wait to see where Mary Connealy takes her readers next.

A fine blend of suspense, action and romance, all wrapped up in classic Western fashion.
Cole Boden might have been raised on the Cimarron Ranch, but he left that behind for Harvard and a refined life on the East Coast. Family duty has begrudgingly brought him back home to the New Mexico Territory and his new endeavor owning and running the gold mines on the family property. Until he spends time with Mel, that is…Melanie Blake is the daughter of successful ranch owner, and a lifelong friend to the Boden family. She’s 100 percent cowgirl, but finds herself falling for “city boy”, Cole.
The Boden family is fighting to save their ranch, and their lives from an outside threat. Mel is determined to help Cole save his family, even if it means putting herself in harm’s way.
Another hit by Mary Connealy. The story has the perfect amount of action and suspense to keep the pages turning. The story picks up after the Boden family has been targeted by kidnappers and several members of the family shot, in multiple attempts at their lives. Cole is trying to make his way in back home by running the mine when the “bad guys” blow it up and try to shut it down. The romance picks up naturally and develops as the two characters work together to find out who is fixed on ruining the Boden family and taking Cimarron Ranch.
I enjoyed getting to know the Boden family, and the romance between the main characters. I did feel a little lost at the beginning, not having read the first two books, since I didn’t know much about what transpired previously or about the other Boden family members. I’d suggest grabbing the first two books, because it looks like I missed some good stuff there!
I highly recommend TOO FAR DOWN to lovers of great Western romances. You’ll be flipping those pages faster than a prairie fire with a tail wind!

This is book three in the series and I thought an excellent conclusion. It can stand alone but is also nice if you have read the other 2, which by the way I recommend. There is love, suspense, and I find that Mary has a way of painting her characters that make them seem legit. This book involves a family legacy at stake. There are snakes around trying to move in and kill off the offspring to take over the valuable land. The parts about the gold mines really make you feel and smell and experience the mines in a believable way. The family togetherness was tender and what everyone longs for their family to be like, there for each other and fighting the battle shoulder to shoulder.

The Cimarron Legacy series conclusion is a wild ride with nuggets of humor, family, and faith along the way! When the entire Boden clan and their most trusted friends circle the wagons to root out the evildoers once and for all, the result will touch your heart and tickle your funny bone! Y'all can read this book as a stand-alone but I highly recommend snagging the whole series for maximum enjoyment!

I requested the opportunity to read this book through NetGalley and the publisher. The opinions expressed are my own.

Cole Boden's quick thinking saves his family's mine, and the lives of many miners. But what happened at the mine was no accident.

Mel Blake has known the Bodens her whole life, she works alongside her father on their ranch. She knows her way around guns, horses, and hard work, so when Cole calls for trustworthy men to rent the mines of the dead miners, Mel steps forward.

Can Cole and Mel unravel the mystery of who is out to get the Boden Clan?

I like that Mel's parents allow her to follow through with her plan on the condition that she work alongside her Uncle Walt, who has a lot of mining knowledge, even though it's not his favorite thing to do. Mel has a strong faith, and a determined spirit. She's straight shooting, capable and intelligent, she cares deeply for her friends and family.

Chance is a good man, he cares about doing right by the miners, and takes care of his people. I love the way that he admires Mel just the way that she is, and doesn't wish that she was any different. He is torn between the opportunities in New Mexico or back home in Boston, and he is unsure of starting something if he won't be around for long.

I loved catching up with the other members of the Boden family too. As it also follows Veronica and Chance to Denver, as they lay low waiting for Chance's leg to heal and befriend a young boy named Finn.

A fast paced read, hard to put down, with many twists along the way. A fantastic conclusion to the Cimarron Legacy!

Too Far Down is a thrilling ride into the gold mines of New Mexico Territory, filled with greed, murder, and romance. While Too Far Down does reference previous events and people from the first two books in the Cimarron Legacy series, this third book can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Too Far Down starts off explosively, literally, and never stops for a single breath. Cole Boden and his siblings as well as close friends from a neighboring ranch race against the clock to find out who is behind such deadly destruction and why, but every turn produces more questions, every person appears more sinister, and every heart-pounding moment pushes them deeper into the mystery.

And what a mystery it is, chock full of cryptic messages, piles of gold, secret passageways, wanted posters, impostors, relentless villains, betrayal, revenge constant danger, and a Wild West shootout that rivals any Hollywood production. Add in a hefty dose of romance and an adorable little Irish boy named Finn, and you have yourself one entertaining story that won’t relinquish its hold on you until the very last page.

The overall plot in Too Far Down is delightfully intricate and full of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I will admit that I yelled “Hurry up!” and “Uh oh!” during the climactic scenes, obviously proving that I really was on the edge of my seat as I raced through the chapters. Well done!

This story continues with the Boden Clan. Cole is working at the mine when a series of explosions occur. Upon further investigation it was revealed that most of the deaths were murders leaving Cole confused as to who to trust and with the reality that the danger directed at their family was far from over.
Melanie Blake, a long time friend of the Bodens, is eager to help uncover the truth, it doesn’t hurt that she’ll be able to spend more time with Cole.
Although the book was slow for me at times, I was eager to know who was behind the series of unfortunate events that had befallen the Boden clan. From reading this book I saw the importance of family, appreciating them, being around them. I loved the appearance of Seth Kincaid and the reunion of the whole family.

While I did enjoy this book I haven't found this series to be quite as engaging and fun as the first couple of series I read from this author.

The Boden family is back with their biggest, deepest adventure yet. Done miss the final installment!

The Boden family is once again under attack. The CR Mining Company is hit by an explosion killing men and casting another dark shadow upon the family. Cole Boden moved back to New Mexico after spending years in the East and loving the city life. He has been running the mine and trying to find aspects of the mining and ranching life to keep him happy. Melanie Blake has caught his eye in ways no woman ever has before. She has been fiends of the Boden’s forever and wants to help tackle the latest threat to those she cares about. She never expected to find herself falling for one of the Boden’s but can’t help the feelings she has for Cole. Together they will work to save the family and the land they have all worked so hard for.

As the final book in the Cimarron Legacy series, Mary Connealy, ties up all the loose ends and leaves readers with a satisfying end to a fun, spirit filled story. Which each book focusing on a different member of the family, we really get a chance to know the characters and develop a relationship with them making it easy to laugh and cry with each joy and trial they go through. The Boden family has had more than its fair share of trials and tribulations and this latest takes them deeper than ever before. Mary Connealy has an uncanny talent for creating a story that is both suspenseful and fun to read. It’s hard to find the balance between those two but Connealy has made each of her books entertaining and enjoyable by using wit and humor to make the story flow.

The relationships flowed well keeping with the suspense of the story and the troubles the Boden’s have experienced. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to enjoy the story with Cole as the main lead but he stepped up and brought the story to life. There was so much with his background that helped the story take on new life when I thought it was finished. Melanie is a tough gal that isn’t willing to put up with being talked down to or taken advantage of because she is a woman, which I liked from the start. Being able to bring her into the family dynamic brought about a new view to the family and what they were going through. She has been around them from the start and gave the reader a different perspective. I recommend this book to fans of Connealy’s previous works and romantic suspense lovers alike.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.

And another great series ends :( this one Started out a little slower and I had a harder tie getting into it( might be cause it was the last and I always have a harder time when series end!!!) and when I say slower only like the first page or two was slower lol things went fast once things started happening.....I liked Cole but I'm not sure he was my favorite Boden sibling. might be because he wasn't a cowboy like the rest. Or it might be because he didn't think his grandparents were as evil as we(the readers) knew they were!

Too far down is a dynamic blowing you a way – figuratively and literally – mysterious, addictive, adventurous, alarming, bewildering, romance thing, Caverness, dangerous, devoted, emancipating, exhilarating, fallacious, frightening and handsome story for you -phew- was that a mouth or let's say eyefull . This poor family cannot catch a break – when you start the book off with a big boom and then things get worse from there for the family the big brother has to find who the Cole is and take care of them once and for all and decide where he wants to be once and for all and now he has to include this Melanie in his decision-making this book is a fast read and one that you'll totally enjoy.

This book was a blast. From the very first page I was hooked. Too Far Down is the third book in the Cimarron Legacy series. I have read the first two and loved them both as well. I couldn't wait to read Cole’s story and find out what was going to happen next. This book is also a great stand alone novel. Connealy drops enough hints in case you haven't read the first two books, so you'll know what's been going on. That being said I would recommend you read the others because they were a lot of fun as well. The Cimarron Legacy is a place where the land was paid for with a steep price. The land is only a part of the legacy though. Family and love are the most important things to the Boden clan. When someone keeps coming after them their loyalties will be tested.

Cole has always been different than his brother and sister. Being the oldest was never easy, and spending time in the city with his grandparents has changed him. Torn between his love for his family and city life, Cole knows he'll have to make a decision soon. One thing he knows with out a doubt is that he's not going anywhere while his loved ones are in danger. When his mines become the next target Cole is furious. Knowing the explosion was no accident his family puts plans into motion to find the culprit. In the midst of all the trouble Cole finds himself drawn to Mel. Knowing now is not the time for romance Cole worries for her safety and his sanity. Can they catch the criminal before it's too late?

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Fiction. It is set in the Historical category, but I really think anyone will enjoy this book. I loved the amount of suspense mixed in with the romance. The family dynamic cracked me up, and I loved seeing them interact. The characters relied on their faith in a real way through out the entire story. I loved the strong female characters and couldn't get enough of their feistiness. I received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers and was in no way obligated to post a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is book three (four if you count the prequel) in the Cimarron Legacy series. I have only read book two and now three and had no problem keeping up with what was going on, however I do believe I missed out on a lot of history and some good reading. Even though it is a stand alone book, Connealy gives you a lot of history in review so you do not necessarily need to read all the books to keep up, I think you will enjoy them all.

This book focuses on Cole Boden, the eldest of the Boden children. When the mines are in trouble and someone is killing, they must band together and find the killer or killers before one of them is next.

Mary Connealy has a fun, spunky way of writing. You really get to know her characters and what they are thinking. She weaves laughter, mystery, suspense and so much more into her novels.

If you enjoy reading about good looking cowboys, romance, humor and action you will enjoy this novel.

When an explosion kills men and damages the CR Mining Company, the Bodens realize their troubles are not behind them as they thought. Shadowy forces are still working against them.

Cole Boden finds himself caught between missing his time back East and all that New Mexico offers. Sure he fights with his siblings now and then, but he does care for them. He enjoys running the mine and, when he's honest, he admits that Melanie Blake captures his interest in a way no other woman ever has.

Melanie has been a friend to the Bodens forever. A cowgirl who is more comfortable with horses and lassoes than people, she never expected to find herself falling for someone. Particularly for refined Cole Boden, a Harvard graduate who may not stay long at the ranch. She's determined, however, to help the Bodens finally put an end to the danger that's threatened all of them. But will putting herself in harm's way be more dangerous than anyone expected?

This is the conclusion of the Cimarron Legacy series. This is Cole and Melanie's story. Cole and the Bodens are still fighting those are out to kill every last Boden. It gets all tied up neatly at the end with twists and turns along the way.

Mary Connealy does it again with humor and mystery. I really enjoyed this series and look forward to the next series by Ms Connealy.

Too Far Down is the perfect end to an amazing trilogy!

I’ve loved reading the Cimarron Legacy. The characters, the continuing but segregated plot, and the changing villain really kept me on my toes. Each was a stand-along romantic adventure while still being part of a huge conspiracy wrapped in years of anger and greed. It completely mystifies me how someone can be that way.

While not specifically a “Christian” novel, the characters in Too Far Down relay on God and His way of life to conduct themselves. There are no calls to the Lord or scenes non-Christians would find uncomfortable. I personally love this because, while there is romance, all we read about are a few whispered conversations and some steamy kisses.

I love Mary Connealy's stories, they never disappoint. Western romance, humor, mystery. This is the final story of the Boden family, Cole's story. Someone has been trying to run the Boden family off their land and when that doesn't work hired killers are sent in to do the job. This book takes place mostly in the gold mines that the family owns. Someone tries to blow them up but Cole is able to stop it only to discover there is more going on then what he thought. If you love westerns with a touch of romance and mystery then this series is for you.

I am reviewing a copy of Too Far Down through Bethany House Publishers, and Netgalley:
Mary Connealy transports us back to Skull Gulch, Mexico Territory in the 1880’s. An explosion kills men, and damages the CR Mining company. They soon realize the troubles are not as far behind them as they expected.
Cole Boden enjoys his new life in New Mexico, but misses his friends back east. He fights with his siblings sometimes, but that certainly does not mean he doesn’t love them, and try to do the best by them. He enjoys running the mine, and is finding that he is interested in Melanie Boden though at times he finds that hard to admit even to himself.
Melanie has been a friend of the family for many years. She’s definitely not a girlie girl, but a cowgirl who is more comfortable with horses than lassos than she is with people.
Cole Boden is a refined Harvard graduate so it surprises Melanie when she falls for him, but will it end up putting her in danger too, or will they have a chance at their happily ever after.
I give Too Far Down Five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!

While trouble has been following the Boden family and their ranch for years, their powerful and well-connected enemies seem to have begun targeting the profitable CR Mining Company too. When someone purposely detonates dynamite at the entrance of several mines and kills five men, and the life of patriarch Chance Boden is threatened again in far-away Denver, the Boden children decide to find and eliminate their elusive enemy once and for all.

Having served as the mine's manager ever since he returned from Harvard, the destruction at the mines hits Cole Boden particularly hard. Will the love of his family and his confusing feelings for his neighbor-- Melanie Blake-- be able to keep Cole in the New Mexico territory, or will the rugged danger send him back to the intriguing world of business he left behind back East? Melanie Blake grew up with the Boden children, and has been a friend to Justin and Sadie for years. More interested in horses and guns than silk dresses, Mel has never quite understood her infatuation with Cole. When Cole begins to show an interest in her, will she have the strength to protect her heart from a man who hasn't truly decided what he wants in life?

Mary Coneally brings her Cimarron Legacy trilogy to an exciting and satisfying conclusion in Too Far Down. Much like the second installment, this novel takes place just weeks after Long Time Gone, and the plots of all three novels are intricately intertwined. Readers should view The Cimarron Legacy as a three-part story, rather than a series of three individual novels. Having made the mistake of not re-reading No Way Up when Conneally released her second installment, I brushed up on the Boden family before starting this newest addition. I'm certainly glad I did. In re-reading the first two installments, I also decided that the first and last novels are superior to the middle one. Cole's struggle to find his identity and reconcile his two lives is compelling, Melanie's need to protect herself from Cole's indecision shows wisdom and strength, Chance and Veronica's mistake in making unfair demands on their grown children is (finally) addressed, the chance to see Sadie, Heath, Justin and Angie in their first weeks of marriage is enjoyable, and solving the mysteries surrounding the CR's enemies was sufficiently satisfying. As a resident of New Mexico these days, I particularly enjoyed this glimpse into American history.
