Drakon's Plunder by N.J. Walters is Book 3 of the Blood of the Drakon Series.

Honestly, if you haven’t read any of this series yet, then I don’t know what you are thinking...but you are seriously missing out. Ummm hello, drakons...dragons? Need I say more? SMH, just go pick up the books and get to reading. You won’t be disappointed!

Picking up where the last book left off, we are swept up into a hell of a story. Walters is one brilliant writer and this read is a true display of her abilities. Alpha drakon-shifters, their feisty females, and a realistic world combined with an action-packed storyline makes Drakon’s Plunder one spectacular read.

An ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.

Drakon's Plunder is book 3 in the Blood of the Drakon series and while each book focuses on a separate couple, there is an overarching plot line that is best read from the beginning. So, I do suggest you read these books in order.

Ezra is a water Drakon and the 3rd brother we meet in the series. He lives alone on an isolated island off the coast of Maine. Sam is an archeologist who has been hired by the Knights of the Dragon to find 'something'. They aren't very clear about what 'it' might be. The Knights are responsible for the murder of Sam's mentor, so she plays along with their plan, knowing she plans to steal whatever they find. She has a unique ability to identify artifacts with connections to folklore and mythology. When she finds a mysterious book, she knows its important. She manages to escape and Ezra finds her. He also finds he would quite like to keep her.

All of the drakons are pretty isolated and Ezra is no exception. But, when he finds Sam, he starts to feel a pull he has never felt before. Having just witnessed 2 of his brothers find their mates, he is more in tune with the idea. He is also aware that his brother's mates have unique talents like Sam.

I enjoyed the action and adventure of this story. Sam's job as an archeologist is interesting and her absconding with the artifact the Knights want leads to a manhunt. The Knights are still a bit odd to me. They are a very factioned group and while they are working towards the same goal, they certainly are NOT working together. Its all power struggles and pissing contests. It makes it a bit difficult at times to really take them seriously as a villainous group. However, none of that really mattered because I was so caught up in the budding romance of Ezra and Sam! The romance is my favorite part of this series. Yes, they are fated mates, and there is some instant attraction, but all of them are intelligent people and they don't just swoon right away. Some people hate the fated mates trope, but I adore it and I think this series would be acceptable even to those who don't love the trope.

The climax and plot are pretty predictable but it didn't deter from my enjoyment of the story overall. If you like secret societies, dragon shifters, and fated mates, you will enjoy Drakon's Plunder!

Since I caught the second one from this author in this series I thought why not another one. I enjoyed this conception on this finding it interesting so in I went. This one had quite abit of adventure starting with Sam and the trouble she finds herself into. Revenge can lead to trouble, some would view it as justice, either way it usually turns out crazy. She then crosses paths with Ezra which was a good thing for her. Another thing I like about this series each one is different on what and where they are., but all Drakons though. How they get on with their mate is the fine part also of the reading of the tale. Sam is not ordinary though either so combined with the danger this was one exciting adventure with heat.

4.5 Stars!

From the start it becomes apparent Sam did the right thing by wanting to exact her revenge despite putting her life on the line. Thank goodness Ezra steps in when he does. What they learn about this item she steals is frightening. In the meantime, the Knights are intent on finding her. Now that Ezra has her, he intends on protecting her and keeping her. Strangely enough, Sam feels the same way. She is in mortal danger but she would do anything to keep the Knights away from Ezra. Can they keep each other safe?

Suspense and mystery take a front seat in this story more so than in the rest of the series. But the love between Sam and Ezra is steamy and passionate. It's good to see that the other brothers and their mates are always in the background with their support. I have enjoyed all three books in this series. Ms. Walter's writing is addictive and compelling. Nic's insight into his life shows that his life isn't the party he makes it out be and I can't wait to read his story. I just hope it's not the end of the series.

Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for allowing me to review this great story.

Having read Drakon’s Promise and Drakon’s Prey, I was keeping an eye out for the next book in the series, Drakon’s Plunder. So, imagine my delight when I saw it on Netgalley! This is a series I have read and loved and, just like with the first two books, the cover stands out. That slight smile and peek at his tattoo? Purrrrrrr! Plus, I’ve been waiting for Ezra’s story and and delighted that his is next in line! I jumped at the chance and received an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

And, honestly, I liked it! This story picks up right where Drakon's Prey left off. Darius and Sarah are on the run, Tarrant and Valeriya are in the Pacific Northwest, and Ezra is off the coast of Maine doing his water drakon thing. The Knights of the Dragon are looking for Darius, but don’t know about the rest of the family. They also have a crew exploring a shipwreck off the coast of Maine, looking for relics, and when you have Knights so close to Ezra, you know action will ensue. Much like Sarah and Valeriya, the heroine of this story, Sam, has a superpower sense that ties her to the Drakon’s story. In this instance, it is an awareness of supernatural artifacts and much of the plot is related to keeping artifacts safe and away from the Knights.

As for the story itself, the plot and pacing for this book are much slower than the other two. Aside from two real action scenes, the plot is mostly Ezra and Sam realizing the depths of their affection. And, even then, it feels a bit stilted. First off, Sam is way too okay with having been essentially kidnapped and while she questions and eventually comes to grips with having no way off the island, it was very unemotional. Then Ezra and Sam fall into bed very quickly – and very often. But, aside from his Dragon wanting to be close to her, we have very little in the way of conversation or shared experiences to bond them. And, even the bedroom stuff seems stilted or heavily one sided since he is repeatedly trying to set his lust aside and think about her needs – they hardly seem to be on the same level of interests in the bedroom stuff. Don’t get me wrong, the scenes are sweetly hawt, particularly that bathroom scene, but the internal reminders that he needs to do something besides bang get a bit tiresome and awkward. The story moves very quickly over a matter of days. But, there is no witty banter between Sam and Ezra and I really wonder what draws them to each other. Everything is just a rushed “I love you” and “We’re together forever!” without the courtship and solid basis to build that future with.

In general, though, I would say the writing is top notch – clearly this is an author that has spent a considerable amount of time writing about shifters. There is a lot of detail to the environment, the settings, and secondary characters are all well developed. You have a clear mental picture of the setting and a general idea of how the characters will behave, based on their personality’s development and descriptions.

The only reason I am giving this book 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because it felt like a transitional novel. The first book set up the good guys, the bad guys, and the general conflict. The second book saw that conflict come to a head. But, this one didn’t really have a lot of forward momentum. In fact, it opens it up the possibility of more than 4 books in the series – a number I had assumed based on the number of brothers. I don’t see how the 4th book will wrap up all the conflict and storylines, though, if it does, it will be one whopper of a fantastic book and I can’t wait to read it!!! No, but really. Gimme gimme gimme!

Review: Drakon's Plunder and Blood of the Drakon series the is one of those books you discover like Ezra's Treasure! Ezra is a four thousand-year-old half human/ half dragon. Sam is an archaeologist with the ability to find mystical artifacts. Sam is looking to avenge her mentor's murder with a secret society, Knights of the Dragon's, that believe in dragons. She is with an expedition to recover artifacts from a ship that sunk in the 1800's. Sam steals an artifact and looks to escape, but the Knights are on to her. In her efforts to escape, she is injured and saved by Ezra.

Set in a contemporary setting, this Paranormal Romance is hot as Sam and Ezra! The story and characters are unique. The story of the Drakon's is different than most, as the story deals with secret societies and dragon shifters. The book is well written with lots of action. I am so excited about this series and can't wait to read more! I read Drakon's Plunder as a standalone with no issues, except wanting to know more about the Drakons! If you hadn't guessed, I loved this book.

This is the third installment to this series and it doesn't disappoint. I mean, how can it be disappointing when you've got a sexy water Drakon who turns out to be a damsel in distress' savor? Right?!!!

Sam Bellamy is out for revenge. Why? Because she believes that the Knights killed her father figure and she's willing to do anything to make them pay. Including taking an artifact that possess an evil element while sailing in the ocean. You can imagine how her escape wouldn't be easy. Yet she's saved by Ezra.

Ezra is the hot and sexy brother that's a water Drakon. When he sets out to see what the Knights boat is up to, he ends up rescuing Sam and is immediately drawn to her. To say that he's alpha is a bit of an understatement. When he finds out that the Knights are after Sam, his over protectiveness kicks in to high gear.

This story reads much like the first two in my opinion. Like the way the story starts, how quickly the love interests fall for each other, etc. But it works. Hey, if you have a formula that works, stick with it, right? As you can guess, the chemistry between Ezra and Sam is instantaneous and super hot. That being said, Ezra wasn't my favorite brother even though I enjoyed this book. Let's see if Nic can be "that" brother...

Drakon's Plunder is book three in the Blood of the Drakon Series by N.J. Walters. It also is my favorite so far. Ms. Walters creates a dragon world that is vivid and original with Ezra’s island and ocean setting. Again, she has given not just a strong alpha male drakon, Ezra Easton, but also an independent, talented, hardy and resilient female in Sam Bellamy. Like the previous books in the series, Sam has a gift of her own while Ezra can be overprotective to the point of being overbearing. Thant’s a drakon for you.

When the plot is focused on the action and suspense, the story is top-notched. The personal relationship between Ezra and Sam was hot too but had some odd timing. I will admit liking the search for the artifact and the danger from the Knights best. Still paranormal fans will want to read Drakon's Plunder if for no other reason than its uniquely wonderful Water Drakon.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley.

This third installment of the drakon series left me captivated again with the world shrouded in mystery and danger that this author has created.

The story picks up where Drakon’s Prey left off only it’s now told through the 3rd brother, Ezra’s point of view. Being a water drakon, Ezra lives comfortably, if lonely and secluded, on a private island off the coast of Maine. When his brother calls him with a warning to be extra cautious, as a research vessel owned by the Knights of the Dragon is salvaging close by, Ezra heads out to find out what exactly all the fuss is about.

Meanwhile, Sam Bellamy, the archaeologist on board the research vessel has snuck away from the rest of the crew and smuggles a book found in the wreckage. After the Knights murdered her mentor and friend, Sam has sworn to get justice. And if the only way to hit a secret and powerful group like the Knights, where it hurts, is to keep their hands off the strange book she found, she plans to destroy it.

Things don’t go exactly according to plan when Dexter discovers Sam trying to sneak off with the book. Lucky for Sam, Ezra, having watched everything from a safe distance, rocks the boat and in the chaos that follows the sinking ship, spirits Sam away to his home.

While trying to stay off the Knights’ radar and accustom herself to a life on the run, Sam learns exactly what drives the Knights and discovers a connection unrivaled by any other that bounds her to Ezra.

What I loved about it:
Each brother so far has been pretty well described, each with their own quirks and personality traits. Ezra, however, had always remained a little more aloof and distant. There was something about him that always stayed just out of reach so I was dying to read his book and I straight up fell in love with him. Unlike his other brothers, Ezra is a less suspicious sort. His approach to Sam was endearing and although cautious, he trusted his instinct when it came to her.

I loved that there was no jerk-phase or pushing away from his feelings. He is probably the most sensitive of the bunch and I think that change of pace from the last two books helped ground this story. He is still all alpha and possessive and growly but also the one most accepting of finding something lasting with his mate.

There was some eluding of the Knights but it wasn’t so intense like in previous books. Sam and Ezra get some down time and touch on the more emotional part of their relationship, probably more so than any other couple in the series, so far.

I loved the little break we get from all things Knights and danger, and chasing and running. It’s still there is the background but it doesn’t overwhelm the story. We get to explore the drakons’ past and piece together important facts that will come into play in future books. *fingers crossed* The undercurrent of danger took a backseat to the romance in this book and being a romance junkie, this was right up my ally.

What I look forward to:
There are so many new questions to ponder for the next installment and I’m wondering which ones will get explained in Nic’s story, up next.

For starters, the idea that there might be more brothers out there somewhere, for these drakons, is exciting. Then there’s the necklace of drakon tears Ezra and Sam uncover in the wreckage, along with the creepy journal. The hint that there might by a drakon being held prisoner somewhere by the Russians and could the author being hinting that Victoria, Temple’s secretary, might actually be a double agent? But probably the most note worthy question I want answered is who are the Dragon Guard and what is their real motivation?

I can’t wait to find out!

This is Book 3 in the Blood of the Drakon’s series. It can be read as a stand alone and you will understand what’s going on with no problems. Sam is an archaeologist who specializes in ancient languages and mythology, especially ancient lore and magic. She had been born with a 6th sense when it comes to finding ancient texts, paintings and things like that. If other scholars made fun of it, then she went after it. She’s on the boat, Integrity, to document items being salvaged from the Reliant which had sunk in the mid-1800’ss. There’s an artifact that she steals before leaving the boat in the middle of the night. This is when she meets Ezra. There’s so much exciting and dangerous things going on in this book! We learn about 4000 year old Drakons and how they begin. It’s all really exciting things and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Now I’m off to buy Book 1 and 2 so I can catch up with the rest of the crew. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy that I received from Netgalley.

4.5 - "Never doubt your value." Stars!

We return to the Blood of the Drakon series, with the third book; Drakon’s Plunder finally giving us Ezra Easton’s story.

IMAGE.

I am abso-blooming-loving, this series. N. J Walters has really hit the mother-lode with the guys/drakons that these books are telling the stories of, and just like his brothers before him, I absolutely adored Ezra. Nothing gets my girly parts zinging more than an Alpha growly male, going all possessive over the woman destined to be his mate, and Ezra was all that and a bar of chocolate.

She was his. He’d found her in the ocean, plucked her from the sea. By the laws of maritime salvage, that meant she belonged to him now…

Once again the author managed to give the reader a really great love story between Ezra and Sam, another strong willed, sassy woman, not afraid to speak her mind, and do what she believes is the right thing. All the while their mutual enemy the Knights of the Dragon are still looking for clues as to whether there are further Drakon in existence and for ancient spells and curses to help them capture and use the Drakon for their blood.

It was rare for both sides of his nature-man and beast to be at peace. Sam gave him that.”

As with the last book I felt this part of the bigger story hardly moved along in the scheme of things, in fact there hasn’t been a huge amount of development around Karina Azarov, Herman Temple, and the whole Knights plot since the author set it all up in book one to be honest, a few bad guys may have died along the way, but nothing else of real note(yet). But after reading this one I have a feeling I know why, not that I can say as that would be a huge spoiler!

He’d bring ruin to the world before he’d let anyone take her from him…

That-said I still absolutely adored this book, there is involvement from the previous characters as well, so that keeps everything cohesive and current, and some of the banter between Ezra and his brothers bought a few giggles to the fore.

"I haven’t known you very long, but it feels like I’ve known you forever."

This isn’t a series you can just dip into, you definitely need to read it from the beginning, I also love that the author/publisher are keeping the break between releases small, it means that I am not spending the first few chapters of each book trying to recall everything that has happened previously. On that point I really hope that we don’t have to wait for the next book, Nicodemus Wilde, has been the most un-involved of the brothers up to this point in the story, so I cannot wait to get to know him better.

"You’re never leaving me. Not while I have blood in my body."

Drakon’s Plunder is book three in the Blood of the Drakon series by N.J. Walters.

I’ve been enjoy this series. I like the drakons, half man, half dragon, who are solitary except for the occasional interactions they have between the four brothers. Once they meet their mate; their love is unrestrained, their passion is explosive, and they are unmatched in their protectiveness.

Ezra I’ve wanted to meet him since the moment he was introduced. He’s a water darken and needs the sea. The man is a recluse, owns his on island, and a salvage company on the main land.

Sam’s an archaeologist and she has a specially gift for finding artifacts seeped in magic or myth. She took a job with the Knights, so she could get revenge for them killing her friend.

Danger is every present throughout the story. We also get a little deeper into the workings of the Knights and their goals. Sam & Ezra’s relationship is fast. Their chemistry is fierce and fiery from the moment they meet. I liked these two together, but I was a little sad with how quickly their relationship went. I wanted a little more, push and pull, not a total in all at once. The other area of disappointment for me was in them sleeping together after only knowing each other for 6 hrs. With this being an insta-love story, you know that everything is going to be quick.

Drakon’s Plunder was a satisfactory read. It didn’t blow my mind, but I still enjoyed it. I'm curious about the fourth brother Nic and I'm looking forward to his story. This story can be read as a stand-a-lone, but the books are best read in order.

'Drakon's Plunder' by N.J. Walters is book Three in the "Blood of the Drakon" series. This is the story of Sam Bellamy (who is a women) and Ezra Easton (who is a dragon shiftier). I have not yet read the other books, so for me this was a standalone book. Sam is trying to find information on the man/group that killed her mentor. In doing that she had to go undercover to try to get information. Doing so has placed her on a ship that now she is having to escape from. When she in rescued by Ezra who find her unconscious. Ezra is after the same people Sam is but at first he not sure if she is with the people that he and his fellow brothers are looking for. But Ezra does know that he is attracted to her and 'his dragon' is not wanting him to hurt her. Sam too is unsure at first if Ezra is a friend or foe. But the soon learn what the other is about and Ezra trust her enough to let her into his secret of his dragon.
I so enjoyed this book that I want to go back and find the other!

Great fast paced romantic read! I really enjoyed this book and finished in the first sitting. The characters are well developed and the story doesn't lag. This has definitely made me decide to go look into the other books written by this author.

These books just keep getting better and better. Each time I think I found my new favorite couple, another book comes along and knocks the previous ones out of the top spot. While these books can probably be read as a standalone novel, they are so good and keep building to something that you should completely start from book 1.

Sam is an archaeologist with the gift for finding magical artifacts. It helps that her works tends to put her in their path, but even without her profession she would be drawn to them. After her mentor was murdered, she was exposed to the very evil Knights of the Dragon, who are determined to hunt down these mythological beings and keep them in captivity for their blood’s gift of immortality. While she doesn’t necessarily believe in dragons, she does believe that this organization has murderous plans and would appreciate some justice for her mentor. On this path, however, she’s put herself alongside them, hunting for sunken treasure.

Ezra, who we met previously as one of the drakon brothers, had a very simple plan about sinking the Knights of the Dragon’s research vessel until he found a woman trying to steal something (and being shot for her efforts). That, coupled with the undeniable draw he felt towards her meant he found himself nestling her in his covers before too long. As usual, the Knights are up to no good and fate stepped in to align these two strong allies. Oh, and they also kept another evil book out of the hands of the bad guys. As is to be expected, they don’t exactly embrace their relationship right away, but that doesn’t stop the sexy times! These two positively sizzle while they try to find a way to be together. If they’d both just stop trying to protect one another, they could end up being a formidable team. Don’t worry – we eventually get to our HEA. Bring on the last brother!

I have really been loving the Blood of the Drakon series, and book 3 is a solid addition to the story.

This time, the heroine is Sam Bellamy, an archaeologist working on a salvage dive sponsored by Karina Azarov. You might remember that Karina is the head of the Knights of the Dragon, an ancient organization whose purpose is to enslave dragon shifters (drakons) for their blood. Sam has her own agenda in working with the Knights, and when she finds an artifact the Knights are desperate to get their hands on, she steals it and sneaks away in the night. When she gets shot during her escape, she’s saved by water drakon Ezra Easton. As in the earlier books, Ezra isn’t sure who Sam is or whether he can trust her, but the Knights are definitely hunting her, and she did steal something important from them, so Ezra decides to play the ignorant rescuer while he tries to learn more about Sam.

I’ve really liked all the heroines in the series, but Sam is definitely my favorite so far! She is incredibly smart, and I loved her practicality and quick mind. For instance, when Ezra first shows her his shifting abilities, she is the only heroine to have doubted what she saw. Come on, wouldn’t you think something was wrong with your brain if the sexy guy kinda sorta holding you captive (they're on an island and she has no way to leave on her own) suddenly changed into a dragon?! Of course, as Sam learns more she accepts the situation, but she remains curious and thoughtful about it. She’s also the only one to really consider why these drakon brothers are suddenly falling in love at the same time, and she has excellent instincts about how to handle the Knights as well. Without Sam, I probably would have given this book a slightly lower score; I enjoyed her that much.

These books are not reinventing the wheel. The brothers are all similar to each other. They’re all possessive, all domineering, all hot for the heroines instantly, and all sex gods on earth. Ezra isn’t much different, which is fine because these books have sucked me in. I am interested in how the brothers will manage to stop the Knights (because we all know they’re going to stop ‘em), and I’m VERY interested in the final brother, Nic, who I’m hoping is more complex than his playboy image might suggest. I haven’t heard yet when the next book is coming out, but I will eagerly wait for it.

Grade: 4 out of 5

I am fast becoming a fan of this author and I absolutely love the concept of this series. Fabulous!

Ezra is one of the four Drakons' brothers. He owns a salvage company and enjoys living on his own on his private island. Being a water Drakon, he is in his element when he is in and near the sea.

Sam is an archaeologist who has a gift with certain artifacts. She suspects that her mentor has been murdered and wants some form of payback and, takes a job with the Knights of the Dragons to do just that. She believes that Dragons are mythical but, the Knights hunt them for power through greed.

When Sam feels the vibration of one of the artifacts recovered by the diving team during their excavation, she sees the opportunity to get her revenge. This object is quite likely what the Knights want and, she has no intentions of passing it on to them. She devises a plan to get away but, unfortunately, one of the ruthless Knights goes after her.

Ezra witnesses the attack on Sam and when she is injured, he does what any gentleman would do, even though, he suspects that she might be one of the Knights. He takes her to his home and tends to her. Funnily enough, Sam is not afraid of him when she recovers. Apprehensive. Yes. Who wouldn't be? She is taken by the colour of his eyes and his godlike physique as much as he is taken by her hair and her eyes. Well, and the rest. Their interactions are tentative to begin with, but they both want answers. They start trusting each other and most questions are answered. The attraction between them is palpable and when they give in, it's electric.

As the story unfolds, it becomes apparent that Sam did the right thing by removing the artifact from the ship. What they learn about this item is frightening. In the meantime, the Knights are intent on finding her. Dead or alive! Now that Ezra had found her, he intends on protecting her and keeping her. Strangely enough, Sam feels the same way. She is in mortal danger but, she would do anything to keep the Knights away from Ezra. Can they pull it off?

There is less action in this instalment as opposed to the first two but, suspense and mystery abound. The love between Sam and Ezra is steamy and passionate. It's good to see that the other brothers are always there, in the background with their support. I have enjoyed all three books in this series. They are addictive and compelling. Nic is the more sociable brother, and the insight into his life indicates that appearance can be deceiving. I am looking forward to read his story.

I was kindly issued with an eARC from the publisher via NetGalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Sam Bellamy is on a quest for justice. Her mentor was murdered by the secret society The Knights of the Dragons. She has been tasked to find artifacts on the reliant a ship that sunk. Sam nearly dies for doing the right thing.

Ezra Easton a water drakon lives on a secluded island. His brother tells him to check the vessel out as it seems the Knights are up to something.

He is intrigued by Sam and decides to take her home with him. He is overprotective an ultimate alpha and I loved every moment of his caveman act.

Although the setup here is the same as the first two books it doesn't distract us from its awesomeness.

NJ Walters also brings us unique paranormal romance. Be it Hades's Carnival or here with Blood of the Drakon. Admittedly I've only read a limited amount of her books but I still really love them and if they are all like this well then nuff said really.

My one true love will always be the paranormal genre. It has been since I started reading. On top of that we have shifters and oh dragons/drakons. I'm a happy bunny.

The book is action packed and I couldn’t get enough but what did ruin it for me is the sex the plot would progress and suddenly they'd be at it like rabbits taking me away from the plot.

I can't wait for Nic's book if he doesn't find his mate soon he'll go into a sleep he may never wake up from.

Ezra is a Drakon and he lives alone by the sea. Samuel Bellamy is a girl, an archaeologist and is sensitive to objects of power.
The characters are life like, fun, sexy and help keep the story moving. The descriptions are necessary for this story, if you want to know what a drakon is like. The plot takes all this ,mixes it together and comes out with an excellent book. There is danger, intrigue, laughter and sex. I loved the banter between the characters and how smoothly the story flowed. Poor Sam was being hunted and Ezra wanted to protect her. N.J. Walters did a great job and I can't wait till the next one. I received it free for an honest review.

N.J. Walters continues to be a favourite of mine, and Ezra and Sam are a great addition to this gripping series.

Deeply emotional and sensually passionate, this story has strong characters and some teasing banter added to ensure that readers get an overall entertaining mix of seriousness and fun too. I’m looking forward to what comes next!
