I liked the poems about nature. That's the romantic in me talking!

This mix of poetry and prose had a sentimental and nostalgic tone that appealed to me. The language was mostly simple and direct, not flowery, yet is still conveyed the setting incredibly well. Setting--landscape, towns…*places*--are key to much of this book.

A couple poems I particularly liked were “Wychwood Park” and “Old Song”. The poem “Homage” struck me as out-of-keeping with the theme of the book.

I found the poetry stronger than the prose. Also, at times, the punctuation seemed a bit messy, and there were places where the poetry could have been tightened up.

Overall, though, a very enjoyable read.

A quick final note: The formatting was a little wonky on my Kindle version (didn’t affect the overall rating, but it should be fixed prior to publication): line breaks sometimes appeared in random places.
