This book was just so freaking cute and adorable!!! I loved it so much, this book was a quick read and it was the perfect mixture of everything I loved!

After Dylan’s initial heartbreak, all he wanted to do was focus on his baseball career. But when Lucy Foster enters his life, a lot of things start to happen differently. And after their first meeting, he doesn’t want anything to do with her, despite everything the chemistry between them is undeniable. Both of them are complete opposites, would a relationship between them be ever possible?

The plot of this book was fun and engaging. We first got a glimpse of Dylan in book 2 of this series where he fell for the same girl as his best friend. But now, he’s over that fact and he only wants to focus on his baseball. Dylan and Lucy come face to face for the first time when Lucy comes to drop off her brother for baseball coaching under him. And that’s when their face off starts! This book is not exactly enemies to lovers but quite close to that and I enjoyed every moment of it. The tension between them was quite palpable and I looved the angst! Both Dylan and Lucy were completely different from each other, whereas Dylan was the uptight and career oriented, Lucy was living in the moment kind of girl and hence, they balanced each other perfectly.

Underneath everything, Lucy had another side other than the carefree attitude. She took care of her mother, did stitches and embroidery in their shop and also took care of her little brother while her father served in te army. I enjoyed the family aspect of this book too. Especially Otis, Lucy’s little brother. He was just so damn adorable! And he reminded me a little of my kiddie brother. His insecurity was understandable when he voiced his opinion why he didn’t want them to date. But when he saw his sister hurt and crying, the way he defended Lucy’s honour in front of Dylan was just damn, too adorable!!! That scene was one of my absolute favourite in the entire book.

Despite all the differences, Dylan and Lucy both wanted to give them a chance. The chemistry between them was the off the charts and even they saw that. Their relationship escalated quickly and I have no complaints in that matter. I freaking loved the romance between them so much! Albeit, Dylan did mess up and to make up for his wrongdoing, the things he did was the sweetest ever and it melted my heart.

Overall, The Perfectly Imperfect Match was a fantastic read! The plot was executed neatly and I fell in love with each and every character! I loved the chemistry between our two main leads, Lucy and Dylan. The writing was smooth and easy to read and the pace was even throughout the book. I can’t wait to read more by this author!

Lucy is a free spirited girl who has always marched to her own beat but would do anything for her family. Dylan is a very strict, dedicated guy getting over his recent crush gone bad, not interested in dating for fear it would get in the way of his goals. When Dylan ends up being the summer baseball camp coach to Lucy's beloved little brother Otto, sparks fly between Lucy and Dylan, but are they sparks of lust or hatred? The two could not be more different from each other, yet there is a pull, and they both find themselves having a hard time staying away...are such opposites really a good choice for a relationship?

Yet again, Kendra hits it out of the park (ha, like what I did there??) with book 3 in the Suttonville Sentinels series. All the books are about different characters and their challenges in finding love, but the one common factor is that the guys in each book play baseball on the Suttonville Sentinels High School team. They can be read as independent stories no problem, but it has been the best for me reading them in order. Each book will have a reference to the previous book, which fills me with happiness because I love the tie ins. That being said, this was an incredibly engaging, fast read that I sped through in one day because I did not want to put it down.

The plot was fun, with a few twists and dilemmas thrown in, but for the most part this was a character driven story, which I feel works the best for a romance story- you care about the characters so therefore you care about their relationship. I was a little uncertain about Lucy at the beginning, with her hot temper and take what you want personality, but I really liked her. She was willing to take chances, stand up for what she wanted and felt was right, yet she refused to be a doormat to anyone which I think I appreciated the most (and where can I get a chocolate amaretto cupcake??). Dylan was a little harder to crack though with his stiff demeanor and awkward personality, the few moments where he relaxed I was waiting for the shoe to drop and him to go crazy without structure. I think they worked so well as a couple since they both understood hard work, had goals and were not demanding of the other. Without them even realizing it, they complemented the other with their strengths and weaknesses balancing and learning from the other what they need. Yin and Yang at it's finest.

The ending of this book was absolutely perfect. This book overall was so sweet, making me feel all warm and fuzzy in my heart, and I wish it was a physical book in my hands so I could hug it to me. Can I just say how much I loved that this was not an angsty teen problem book: no gossip, no misunderstandings, no love triangles, but instead it was more about self discovery and learning how to pick the important battles and be a well rounded person.

I would have loved to see or at least hear about Kyle and Faith, but it was nice to see how well Tristan and Alyssa are together and how they interact with Dylan. It is 100 confirmed that I will read any book in the Suttonville Sentinels series and now I need to find Kendra's other books because I absolutely love the people she creates and how she puts her stories together so full of heart.

I received this title in return for my honest review.

Not too long ago I read and reviewed Swinging at Love, which was a baseball themed book. In that story there were two best friend trying to help the other one get the girl. However, it all back fired. In this story we get to see what happens to the friend that was left brokenhearted.

Dylan has a plan. That plan is set and there is no detour from it for him. He is a pitcher and wants to play ball in the minor leagues right out of high school then get drafted to the majors. He is also known as Iceman. He is completely type A personality and doesn’t like any type of change. So when Lucy Foster walks into his life he becomes off kilter with life, but Lucy may be just the little bit of chaos that Dylan needs to find joy in his “type A Life.”

Lucy has a lot on her plate. Her dad is deployed for the army, she helps her mother at their sewing store, and she helps take care of her little brother. This doesn’t include her side jobs for patrons at the store, helping her best friend with their farm, and being a chauffeur for her little brother. Lucy likes a little bit of crazy thrown into her life to help her stay sane with all her responsibilities. She likes to protest and “stick it to the man” for causes near and dear to her. When Lucy takes her brother to the baseball fields for his summer training she is blown away by the guy walking around with a stick up his butt. He is the last guy she could ever see herself with, even though he is mighty fine to look at.

These two are like “oil and water.” They are each passionate in their own way and focus on their individual goals; however, they seem to be off-balance until they have each other to fill in the space were they lack personally.

Dylan and Lucy relationship is not your “A Typical” teen crush book. Lucy isn’t a quiet girl who waits for the boy to come to her. She is strong, independent, and states her mind. I like her. Dylan even describes her like a flower child or hippie. These two characters need to either loosen up or get the rains pulled in on them. Lucy and Dylan helped with that.

I liked Dylan in Swinging at Love. He is a very likable guy, and I am glad the author decided to tell his story. I honestly felt bad for him and the situation that occurred in book 2. In this book we get a little taste of what happened from his POV, and the pain he feels/felt through the betrayal of Tristan and Alyssa. Lucy helps mend his broken pride and heart.

This book is a cute read. Has some steamy scenes that can put a smile on your face. Is is told from alternating POV’s.

4 hearts.

It says it could be a stand-alone, however I would read book 2 prior to this book.

Lucy was adorable and quirky and responsible and the kind of heroine we need in YA novels. Dylan was oddly focused and narrow minded, but sure was great with the kids at the baseball camp. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and the Suttonville Sentinels have a special place in my heart.

sigh
So honestly, I've been thinking what I should write in this review for days and days.
Because frankly my response to the book, is a big sigh. A good one mind you, the kind of sigh that is full of contentment and swoony cute & fluffy feels.
Yeah, so basically Highley killed any logical response I am trying to come up with. It is that cute.
The Perfectly Imperfect Match is the third book in the Suttonville Sentinels series and I am pretty sure it's my favorite. I love that we get to revisit the previous books characters. It was an added bonus. But I should mention that this works as a stand-alone as well.. The support cast in this made me love the book even more, I love the different family dynamics. I adore the siblings relationships the most, though not really smooth sailing, it feels authentic and real. Having 3 sisters, being a middle child, meant I could relate to each situation. How ever while we at this, I found the brother's claims a bit annoying. I mean who owns anyone? Why even accept it? Because let's face it each person has his own place with everyone else and I think it's best one gets taught that really early in life, it saves a lot of dramas. I was very glad when that issue was settled.
Lucy and Dylan are both likeable, relatable and I adore them. I am not into baseball at all. But I understand them both a little. I was more of a rebel but I also was always driven. I think most people will be able to relate, because we all a bit of Lucy and Dylan, but more we all search for our way and try to hold to ideas of ourselves when we grow up.

The storyline is sweet and it has most of your typical cute & fluffy elements. But Highley has thrown in some cute twists and made it quite unique with some wonderful details. While I adore the story and I really enjoyed the book, my biggest issue lies in the romance. It is the reason why this is not 5stars for me as well. It was a bit, actually let's just say it as it is: It was a lot too insta for me. I completly got over it by the end but the first half, felt way too insta.

The writing style is just as expected insightful and contemporary. There is some great humor in here. But there are also some amazing, beautiful and moving descriptions. Those are my favorite part of the book and the main reason for my sighing.
I am hoping there is another book in the series, simply because they are the perfect cute and fluffy kind of read. Alas I have no clue what Highley plans to publish next, but I know I will read it.

A great book to take to the lake (or beach) with during a warm day!

Received in exchange of a honest review.

So I like that Dylan and Lucy both have a journey and both see the other wrongly at first. I like how Lucy is out to help Dylan lighten up while Lucy is learning to be a little more serious but not serious ie she has a lot on her plate but doesn’t always balance it well.

Lucy has taken a lot on her plate while her dad is away and sometimes she is scatterbrained. Of everything her love for her brother above everything else so her and Dylan have a hard time coming together at first.

Dylan is so focused on one way and feeling that his parents don’t believe in him that he misses the bigger picture. meeting Lucy has him change his ways. He starts to loosen up and question things. But he also has such respect for Lucy and all she is doing that it warms your heart. His way with her brother is heartmelting as well. He is an overall great guy I didn’t like his stupidity when things didn’t go as he liked but he learned and rectified that awfully fast. Watching his journey and how he and his family worked on things was great as was seeing him fall for Lucy.

Lucy learned things about herself as well. She also saw that not everyone is to be fit in a box. Her attraction for Dylan overrode this and she got to see that he isn’t just a jock. He is thoughtful, kind and honest. He works hard and is focused. Watching her get him out of his shell and try things was great. I loved how well they meshed together and helped one another. Both were supportive and respectful of each other.

the story was sweet and fun. Seeing Dylan loosen up and Lucy learn that not everyone fits in a box while they fell in love was equally adorable and entertaining..

The perfect romantic comedy with alright writing, relatable characters and light plot.

PD:This book may or may not make you want to sew and knit at a professional level and get a baseball hottie in the process.

The Perfectly Imperfect Match (Suttonville Sentinels #3) by Kendra C. Highley is book three in her series about some of the Suttonville high-school baseball players finding their match.

Dylan Dennings, pitcher for the Sentinels, has his whole future planned out: he is going to make it to the minors straight out of high school, move up the farm system, and be playing in the major leagues by twenty-three. All he needs to do is stick to the plan and focus without distractions especially in the form of a girl. After losing the girl he crushed on to his best-friend, Tristan, he can definitely stick to his “no girls” policy. However, the world seems to want to test his resolve by sending the pretty and gregarious Lucy Foster down his path.

Lucy Foster is a needlepoint ninja who loves her family, including her little brother Otis, and has been known to get into a little bit of trouble especially for a good cause. While her father’s deployed, Lucy’s been helping out at her mother’s store and with taking care of her brother, which now includes driving him to baseball camp. With a tendency to get lost at times, Lucy ends up bringing Otis late on his first day of camp and it brings her face to face with Dylan, who couldn’t be described as anything but the polar opposite of her. Sparks fly instantly between these two characters and chemistry is definite. Throw in a baseball scout, a little brother, chickens, and future dreams on the line and Ms. Highley gives us a story that you don’t want to miss.

The Perfectly Imperfect Match is a fun and romantic, and filled with just enough drama to keep the story moving along nicely. With a character-driven plot, Ms. Highley really lets you get to know the main characters of Dylan and Lucy. From the beginning I felt for Dylan who is dealing with losing the girl from the last book and the pressure of trying to make his dream of making it into the minors come true. So when he meets Lucy, who is like a breath of fresh air with her boldness and quirkiness, he begins to come alive. Lucy shakes things up and brings happy chaos to his life, while he brings order to hers. They understand each other even though they’re so different. I also enjoyed the secondary characters like Otis, Serena, and Tristan. The ending was great and I appreciated the epilogue. I love finding out more about the characters later down the road even if it’s just a few months later.

Overall, Kendra C. Highley’s The Perfectly Imperfect Match is a sweet and feel good YA romance that I very much enjoyed and happily recommend. I look forward to reading the next book by this author.

(I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)

What a great mix of characters! Each was so different to the other I (as a reader) had no problem identifying/remembering who each one was. I especially loved Lucy and her quirky-ness! I don’t think I’ve ever read a character like Lucy (not one that I can remember anyway) and pairing her with straight-laced, follow the rules Dylan? ABSOLUTE GENIUS! I can say that without a doubt, the book would not have been as much fun to read – and as laugh out loud as it was – had it not been for these two’s clash of personalities.

I loved every second of The Perfectly Imperfect Match, in fact, I’d go so far as to say that I enjoyed it even more than Tristan and Alyssa’s book (and that’s saying something!)

That ending though… I teared up, it was the perfect way to end a great book!

I must admit, I have a total soft spot for Kendra C. Highly books, I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t leave me sat with a shit eating grin on my face so I might’ve been slightly biased going in.
Dylan is a straight-laced baseball player that doesn’t have time for girls or distractions, until he meets the little whirlwind of carefree fun that is Lucy. I really enjoyed reading about both of these characters, it’s rare for me as there’s usually something that irritates me about a lot of main characters in the YA genre. They were both refreshingly honest and flawed which made for a really interesting read. They both had depth to them and I felt like I was right there with them.
I love YA books where romance and sports mix. This book gets the balance absolutely spot on, there’s not so much sport talk that you feel confused or overwhelmed but there’s just enough that you really understand Dylan’s passion for it.
I would’ve liked for their backgrounds to have been explored a little bit more. We got little bits of Lucy’s by her talking about her dad etc. but we never really got to find out why Dylan put so much pressure on himself, what made him that way. I think it would’ve been nice to have that insight.
The romance aspects were really sweet, it moved along perfectly, from their rocky start onto something adorable and real.
I was captivated in their relationship from the very beginning.
I’d definitely recommend this book (or any others by Kendra) to people who like an easy to read, light-hearted romance. She knows how to write an enchanting story.

The Perfectly Imperfect Match by Kendra C. Highley was provided to me by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, I was very glad that the file was changed from a PDF book to a mobi file/epub file. I know this doesn't matter too much, but mobi and epub files are MUCH more reader friendly on e-readers. It made it more enjoyable for me to read on my Kindle. Thank you, publishers!

I think this was one of my first baseball romance books. I'm trying to remember if there were any others that I have read, but I don't remember reading any of them. This was a great first one to read. I haven't read any of the other books in this series but I think they can be read as a standalone because I wasn't lost in it. It does mention another character's romance, so if you do want to read them in order to know what happens you COULD do that, but reading out of order won't mess a reader up at all.

Dylan and Lucy were the main characters in this book. Dylan was a hot shot baseball player and Lucy was a designer. She liked to sew all kinds of stuff. She had a spunky, spontaneous personality, and Dylan didn't. My favorite scenes between the two of them were when they played truth and dare and they ran out in the rain to dance in it. I also liked the locker room scene too. All of those moments were very cute.

And Otis was a cute little brother!

This book was a very cute read. I was even a little late with finishing the book in time for it to be published because I was busy taking my time with it to soak in every moment of the book. I love books that do that to me!

It was definitely a five star read and I'll be going back to read the other books in this series as well. They're almost as cute as the hockey romance books through Entangled Teen.

I received this book via NetGallery in exchange for my honest review.

This book for me was just ok. I wasn't as drawn into this book as I was in the other books in the series. I don't think that I really connected with the characters together. I really liked Dylan in the other books but I didn't really feel the connection between him and Lucy. There was just something missing between them.

I liked the passion both characters had about the things that were important to them, Dylan Baseball and Lucy the chickens and stitching. I really LOVED Otis, he was so cute and funny.

This series is one that I would recommend.

**Thanks so much to the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review!**

I had read Finding Perfect by Highley a while ago and I really loved it, so I knew that I had to read The Perfectly Imperfect Match. Little did I know, it's actually the third book in a series. However, I believe that each book follows different characters, so I completely understood what was going on in this book without reading the others--that's a huge plus!

I absolutely ate this book up. There's something about swoon-worthy baseball guys. They'll always have a special place in my heart. I really loved Dylan and Lucy's relationship. Lucy was super nerdy and into needlepoint and she just wanted to help fix up Dylan because she could tell he'd been through something.

In the end, I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for more by Highley in the future. If I can, I'm definitely going to check out the other books in this series because I loved this one.

“You know, there’s more to life than baseball.”

This was a YA contemporary romance story about a baseball player and a needlepoint enthusiast.

I liked Lucy and Dylan in this, I liked how devoted Dylan was to baseball and how Lucy managed to ruffle his feathers.

The storyline in this was about Lucy and Dylan meeting when Dylan was coaching Lucy’s younger brother, and liking each other even though Dylan wasn’t looking for a relationship. Lucy managed to get Dylan to relax a bit, and Dylan managed to teach Lucy how to catch a baseball correctly, and they did make a cute couple.

The ending to this was pretty good, although Dylan was a bit mean to Lucy when he was drunk.
6.5 out of 10

the suttonville sentinel series closes out perfectly with the perfectly imperfect match. dylan dennings has a plan. finish high school, get drafted, go to the minor leagues and end up in the majors. he's a machine when it comes to practicing. his singular focus is baseball. not girls, especially not after the debacle with alyssa. he's going to focus on training and on the summer camp that the suttonville sentinels are hosting for young kids interested in baseball.

he's not supposed to be distracted by one of his campers' older sister. and the fact that he keeps managing to piss her off without intending to is definitely not part of his plan. it's just around her it's like his brain and his mouth aren't on the same wavelength. there's just something about lucy foster that has him off-kilter.

lucy knows she's quirky. she doesn't run in the popular crowd at school. she's obsessed with chickens and her best friend's chicken farm. she loves a good protest. she's running a needlepoint business as a way to earn money toward college. her dad is currently deployed so she's had to pick up the slack in helping her mom out with her younger brother, otis. she doesn't trust people easily, and dylan seems like the last person she should ever trust.

except there's that spark. and when they do spend time together, she actually likes him. he's funny and kind and willing to give the unexpected a try. and that is exactly why they work. because both dylan and lucy are planners. they have goals and ideas about how to achieve them that don't include distractions like relationships with star pitchers or needlepoint ninjas. but when they are together, all bets are off. the unexpected happens. love happens. and it's worth fighting for.

i so enjoyed this series, i'm pretty sure this is the last one, but if some of those tertiary characters on the team decide to get their own stories, i wouldn't be mad.

I loved this book. I really loved both main characters so much. It was such a fast read and I was equally invested in both POV. I loved the opposite attract elements and also the elements of both sewing and baseball. It made me want to read more. I just was feel head over heels for both of these leads. The book had the prefect mix of fluff and but also hard hitting issues like parental drama and also letting loose and life not going to plan. It was such a fun read and it even made me cry. I highly rec. this book if you are looking for adorable summer read. I hope to read the other books in the series this soon!

The Perfectly Imperfect Match is the third in Kendra C. Highley's Suttonville Sentinels series. After reading Swinging at Love, I couldn't wait to see if we would get Dylan's story.

I love opposites that attract. And Dylan and Lucy are definitely opposites with an attraction that is hard to resist. From their initial encounter, we see that there's an attraction but also the realization that they really are opposites. Add in a little brother that would rather his sister not date his coach and the odds just may not be in their favor.

I loved this perfectly imperfect match. Highley has a way with her matches. I'm looking forward to seeing what may be next in her Suttonville Sentinels.

5 Swoon-worthy Stars (okay, Highley, where are my unicorns? Just proving I read the note at the end. LOL)

The Perfectly Imperfect Match is the third installment of Suttonville Sentinels, and can easily be read as a standalone. While the hero and heroine from book two do make an appearance on the pages, their previous story doesn't make an impact on the current one. Although, I was happy to see them, reconnect with them.

If you're not reading this as a standalone, you no doubt will remember Dylan. Uptight. Obsessed with his future plans, to the point he isn't living in the now. He's hitched all of his dreams, hopes, and aspirations with singular focus, to the point it's unhealthy and could be a detriment should things not go according to plan.

Fate and destiny and things happen, just because you plan it or want it, doesn't make it so. This is a lesson Dylan needs to learn, and in a way that doesn't leave lasting damage.

Dylan's an amazing pitcher, but he's even better at teaching the next generation of ballplayers during summer camp, which leads us to Lucy...

Lucy is an interesting character. Free-spirit, chicken savior, and colorful rebel. She's the daughter of a serviceman who is deployed and a quilt shop owner. To help her family, Lucy stitches/embroiders various items to bring in side money and bring new clientele into the shop, all the while helping raise her nine-year-old brother.

Otis enrolls in summer camp – the budding pitcher is placed under the tutelage of Dylan, and that's how Dylan and Lucy meet.

Opposites attract.

Without giving a book report, the pair have some angsty bumps and bruises along the way. There's heat and intensity, bucket loads of chemistry. Dylan has a 'no girls' policy, and fears Lucy is throwing him off his game. Lucy is worried about Otis' relationship with his pitching coach, so she doesn't want to come between her baby brother and his idol.

The Perfectly Imperfect Match was a delightfully sweet read, full of crushing and budding love, and it put a smile on my face. Until the epilogue – boom – emotional extortion by the author. Mad props to Highley for making me cry (happy tears, of course).

Definitely recommend to lovers of the Young Adult genre, no matter if they are actual young adults or the young at heart. I look forward to more in this series and more by this author.

*I will say, from my own experience, grown men and boys alike do believe the 'no girls' nonsense. My grandfather, who was old enough to be my great-grandfather, was always bringing up failure in the baseball world due to his son getting a girlfriend – (I can't remember what team he played for) unable to be apart from her, he made her his wife and had children. Blaming my aunt, of course. Is it true? I have no idea – it was a generation or three before my time, but adult me knows the misogynistic blame-game is a great way to explain away what really happened. But boys and men do believe that nonsense, so I could relate to both Dylan and Lucy as I read the book and it brought up the memory of my grandfather, enough so I could even hear his voice.

Swoon – still waiting on those unicorns.

Young Adult age-range: 12+. Kissing and adult language.

The Perfectly Imperfect Match is book #3 in Kendra C. Highley's Suttonville Sentinels series and just as addictive as her first, Swinging at Love. You can easily read these as a standalone, but Swinging at Love, book #2, is totally worth a read for any young adult romance fan. Highley will easily draw you in with her swoon worthy characters and keep you turning the pages all night!

Book #3 follows the story of Dylan Dennings, pitcher for the Suttonville Sentinels, who has his whole future mapped out and doesn't plan to let anything steer him off course. Dylan's determined to make it to the minors straight out of high school, which is why he has a "no girls" policy. Unfortunately, he keeps running into Lucy Foster, needlepoint extraordinaire, and his polar opposite, but he can't seem to get her out of his head...

If you're looking for your next book for the beach look no further! Highley has a home run with her Suttonville Sentinels series. I'm absolutely loving these books and I can't wait to see what's in store for book #4! Another fantastic YA read by Kendra C. Highley! 4 stars

I was so excited to see that Kendra C. Highley was releasing another book in her Suttonville Sentinels series! Although I love all sports romance, baseball is my very favorite sport. Dylan and Lucy were both great characters, and I loved the banter between them as they got to know each other and tried to deny the chemistry between them. This book was super cute and fun!

Thanks to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the opportunity to read and review The Perfectly Imperfect Match by Kendra C. Highley! Dylan focuses on his baseball future only and Lucy is focusing on her future sewing business. While Dylan feels like he has to have his life extremely controlled, Lucy is flighty. An awkward moment pushes them to notice each other. Dylan is also the baseball little league coach for Lucy's brother, Otis. This is hopeful and unhelpful at the same time. The two of them are attracted to each other, but seem bound to grate on each other's nerves. Both teens are busy with their own lives, families and relationships and they can't decide if they should try a relationship together or not and they are both wishy-washy to each other, which gives mixed signals. Fun and frustrating describes their relationship and they have to decide what is most important in their lives. 4 stars for quirky characters and a book full of interesting supporting personalities and side stories!
