I am sorry that I couldn't complete the book on time and it got expired. I am giving 1 star because of the book description. I liked the synopsis and that is why I asked for the book.

I didn't like this book as much as the others I have read from this series. I did enjoy getting to know Mistress's backstory, and how Emily Weatherspoon ended up the madam of the Jeweled Ladies. However, it felt like this Mistress wasn't the same person from the other books, it could have just been my perception of the character, or the fact that the story is mostly told from her point of view, but this version of Mistress felt too "nice". I also wasn't quite sure I felt that much of a connection between her and Cyrus, as much as the two characters kept telling you there was this connection. While this book wasn't my cup of tea, I would still be interested in reading more books in the series.

I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I fell in love with this story it is about a second chance at love and what they have to go through to get it. I have not read anything else by this Author but I will now be keeping a look out for more of her books.I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.

His Crown Jewel is a historical romance written by Maggie Chase. It tells the story of the notorious madam Mistress, Emily Weatherspoon who is still in love with her first love Cyrus Franklin. When Cyrus suddenly appears in Brimstone where Emily's brothel is located many heads turn their way waiting for new juicy gossip.

I really did not enjoy this novel one bit. I tried and forced myself to finish it, but I simply could not. I came to the middle of the novel and then I decided I simply did not want to waste any more time not enjoying myself.
The writing itself is not bad, nor are the characters badly written. It is simply that the plot has so much unaccomplished potential. I found this book rather boring, I really do not want to seem harsh, but I really did not like it one bit.

One thing that really bothered me about this book is the morality of the main character - Emily Weatherspoon. She simply cannot shut up about equality between people. Do not get me wrong, I am all for equality, but this damn woman simply will not shut up about it. She speaks about all the time, she thinks about it all the time. Come on, woman. Have some fun, you own a brothel for god's sake!
I have nothing more to say. I am really disappointed.

I received this book in exchange for a review.

The idea for this book was intriguing enough that I looked forward to reading it. When I finished the book, the best emotion I could express is "ho hum". Oftentimes I was thoroughly engaged with the characters but other times I was bored.

In return for allowing me this ARC, I am giving a fair and honest review. I have read all of the "Jewels" series and loved them all. Each one tells a different story and takes in different desires. They are so well told and cater to each individual's choices and what has brought them to where they are. If you read one, you will need to read them all.
