Being the sister of his best friend, Natalia Texeira, is off limits for Dr. Adam Cordeiro. However, with the pair working together, he's finding it harder and harder to keep his hands off the woman. Will Adam be able to win Natalia's heart and keep his friendship with her brother, or will they go their separate ways because they can't seem to overcome their past demons?

I love sitting down to read a medical romance penned by Ms. Beckett, as she's a fantastic author whose books I get so engrossed in that I find I'm at the last page of one of her stories before I even realize and this is a series that I have been absolutely charmed by. Because the heroes are hot and irresistible and the heroines have been through so much and deserve their happy ever after, which is absolutely true with this couple. Right from the beginning, this book had me smiling because of the hero's reaction to the heroine and how surprised he is when he comes face-to-face with her. Will the heroine be able to talk her way out of the situation?

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the medical drama and the main characters back stories, especially the heroine because of what she's been through that has made both her family and Adam protective of her. Yet, I liked how she's overcome her past and is determined to be the best doctor she can be, which is proven by how she helps one particular patient that is all but ready to give up due to what he's going through. Will their talks help? I also liked how strong and brave the heroine was and that she stood up to her brother when she needed to, especially when it came to her relationship with Adam.

While the hero, he's confident, a great doctor and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over, even though he knows being with the heroine could destroy his friendship with his best friend and that the heroine could end up being hurt if she discovers things about his past. I also liked how he wasn't afraid to ask for help from the heroine when it came to helping a patient, especially when the heroine has first-hand experience with what Adam's patient is going through and that she was the best person that could help his patient make the right decision when it came to the man's future.

Overall, Ms. Beckett has penned a really good read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong, the romance delightful and showed how good these two are for each other; and the ending had me loving the advice the heroine received because without a doubt she needed to make things right with the hero after how she treated him. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, as we discover how far this couple have come in their relationship and how happy they are. I would recommend The Doctor's Forbidden Temptation by Tina Beckett, if you enjoy medical romances, the brother's best friend trope, or books by authors Amy Ruttan, Annie O'Neill and Amalie Berlin.

MY RATING: 4/5 STARS

I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.

This book was very different from harlequins I've read in the past because I am and I'm sure majority of the harlequin community is used to the idea of perfect female heroines with no flaws on the outside. In the eye of the hero and the author, the heroine is always the most beautiful woman in the world and she is the only one who is able to change the hero's mind to commit to a relationship. However, in the doctor's forbidden temptation, I was surprised and happy to see that our heroine, Natalia, is flawed on the outside.

Having survived cancer at an early age, her arm had to be amputated. Her dreams of becoming a successful neurosurgeon vanished when her arm was removed to save her life and so were her dreams of becoming a mother. This is one of the main problems our couple faces. Natalia wants children and she knows how badly Adam wants babies of his own so throughout the whole book, we see the internal frustration, Natalia feels when she grows more and more intimate with Adam.

She's afraid that once he realizes that she is barren, Adam won't be interested in her so it would be easier for them to simply not be together.

MY RECOMMENDATION

This book was very well written and entertaining to read. I suggest to pick this one up!

The Doctor's Forbidden Temptation is part of the Hot Brazilian Docs! series by Tina Beckett.

Natalia Texeira is a doctor in the NICU. She is a cancer survivor and although not actively looking for love, she often wonders if it will ever be on the cards for her. She can't give any man children because she is sterile after the chemotherapy. Is it fair to begin a relationship knowing she has nothing to offer?

Adam Cordeiro is an Oncologist. He works with Natalia's brother Sebastian. They aren't only working colleagues, they have been friends for years. Natalia has had a crush on him since she first saw him. Adam only saw her as kid sister though.

After her shift, Natalia is getting changed in one of the treatment rooms. Adam accidentally walks in on her when she is clad in only a sexy pair of knickers and is putting jeans on. From that moment on he no longer sees her as a kid sister!

The problem is that no matter how much Adam wants to be with Natalia, she's still his best friend's sister and therefore off limits to him. Natalia, on the other hand, would jump at the chance of a relationship with him, but again the issue of children is getting in the way. Can they have a fling rather than a proper relationship, can either settle for that or do they both want more?

I enjoyed this story. The romantic aspect, of course, was at the forefront. Adam and Natalia need to help each other come to terms with the issues that could prevent them finding happiness in the future. I must admit that I was a tad disappointed when the couple finally gives in to their lust. I mean Natalia has wanted this man for years. Yes, their first 'session' was steamy, but I just didn't get the feeling of utter relief and ecstasy from Natalia because she finally got her man!
Apart from the romance, I loved the medical parts in the story. You can tell that the author has thoroughly researched the type of cancer and its treatment, and I found it fascinating. I'd never heard of that type of cancer before.

All in all this book was enjoyable, and I look forward to the next book which is Sebastian's story.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers' copy of this book.
