This was an okay story but I don't feel like Kate Hewitt did a good job of pulling in the reader. I didn't really connect with any of the characters.

One night with consequences. Allegra Wells, estranged from her father since she was 12, flies to his funeral where she meets Rafael Vitali at the wake. Their connection is instant and he invites her up to his suite. She gives her virginity but when he learns her relationship to her father, he essentially throws her out of his room. They meet again at the reading of the will. He's had time to think and realize that no protection was used the night before. Before she leaves, he tells her he expects to hear from her if she learns she is pregnant.

Allegra has NO desire to see Rafael again so when she starts throwing up her breakfast on a daily basis, she determines to go it alone. After all, she's been virtually alone since she turned 18. Why change that now? Only when she learns that her baby is in danger does she contact Rafael who is livid. He does what he does best and takes over. Can they find a middle ground where Allegra feels valued, not imprisoned?

I try to read every one of the Harlequin Presents "One Night with Consequences" books. I love that every couple puts the well-being of their baby first and ends up falling in love in the process.

Loved, loved, loved the sworn enemy plot and everything that comes with it when you discover your one night stand was someone you're not supposed to have anything to do with.

I really enjoyed Kate's way of telling the story, why they were enemies and how they overcome all of this due to the consequences of the night.

Thank you for another wonderful read!

Very enjoyable story. Another well written romance by this author. Billionaire Rafael Vitali's ruthlessness backfires dramatically when he cruelly dismisses shy and sensitive Allegra after a passionate one night stand. Rafael discovers that Allegra is the estranged daughter of his business rival and is furious at being attracted to her. A surprise pregnancy brings the two back together, but a heartbreaking threat to the baby tests the couple to the max. Sensitively written, this story is well worth a read.

Engaged for Her Enemy's Heir is a sweet and sometime heartbreaking story and I could not put it down till the very last page! This is the story of Allegra and Rafe who meet at a funeral and end up together as the attraction is so strong that they can't help themselves, but soon it all comes crashing down as Rafe realizes that Allegra is the daughter of the man who ruined his family. While Allegra doesn't know anything about the story involving her father and Rafe's family she does have many questions of her own, such as why did her father turn his back on her and what was he trying to tell her in his last letter to her and then things get even more complicated as Allegra and Rafe find out that their explosive encounter had consequences. This was a great love story and at moments a very touching and heartbreaking one! I really loved Kate Hewitt's characters!

Rafael Vitali is determined to get revenge on his family's enemy, but when he discovers that the woman he slept with is the man's daughter, Rafael is determined to do everything he can to forget her. However, when Allegra realizes she's pregnant and turns to him when she needs help, Rafael realizes the only thing to do is insist Allegra marry him and move to Sicily. Will Allegra be able to give Rafael another chance after how he treated her, or will she leave rather continue to go at things alone?

This story, which encompasses the revenge and opposites attract tropes was such a riveting read due to the tension between the main characters that creates wonderful chemistry; the emotion from the characters that made me sympathize with their back stories; and entertaining dialogue that had me enjoying the way the heroine stands up to the hero when it comes to the decisions they make when it comes to their baby and her life being turned upside down since no way will she put up with his domineering ways. The way this story started had me feeling sorry for the heroine, as she wasn't close to her father. Should she be at the man's funeral when he was never there for her growing up?

As for the dialogue, it was attention-grabbing and had me hooked due to the main characters back stories and the reason for Rafael wanting to take down the person that wrecked his family. Moreover, I felt sorry for the heroine when it came to how things went down with her father and how she lost him years ago. I could also understand why she was so determined to discover the truth about why her father did what he did to her and her mother once she learns more about the hero's past. Yet, what I liked most about the heroine is how resilient she was when it came to dealing with the hero and the moment when she learnt the truth of who falsely accused Rafael's father.

While the hero, he's arrogant, hard-working and a man determined to always get what he wants. He's come a long way since what happened to his father, but I found it was hard not to feel sorry about the fact that he's been unable to help his sister and how difficult his relationship with his sister is because of what she believes he did. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero is how he let the heroine into his life and how she helped him to realize that what his father did wasn't his fault.

Overall, Ms. Hewitt has delivered a really good read in this book where the chemistry was strong; the romance was wonderfully crafted and shows how good these two are together; and the ending left me completely captivated because Rafael finally got the answers to get closure from his past and the heroine got the answers she needed when it came to her father and why he deserted her. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely, because of how far the hero and heroine have come in their relationship. I would recommend Engaged for her Enemy's Heir by Kate Hewitt, if you enjoy the enemy to lovers trope, the opposites attract trope, or books by authors Miranda Lee, Cathy Williams, Carole Mortimer and Michelle Smart.

This was a sweet romance.

The hero,Rafael and heroine, Allegra encounter one another at the heroines fathers funeral. A father who she hadn't seen in years and abandon her and her mother, she believes/thinks. The Rafael had issues with Allegra's father, but he doesn't realize that the heroine and father are connected.

Allegra had a sad childhood, she idolized her father but believes he turned his back on her and her Mother. Allegra always carried the hurt and feeling that she was lacking somehow. Her Mother was not very maternal and had issues and also a bitter person.

Well Allegra and Rafael meet there is instant spark. The two are strangers who console each other and enjoy a night of passion. When it's revealed the next morning who Allegra is Rafael wants her gone and never see her again. Rafael has a lot of bitterness and feelings of betrayal that he associates with Allegra's father.

The two meet again as Rafael learns that Allegra became pregnant from their encounter and insists on being a Father to his child. He does all he can to win Allegra and treats her with sweetness and determination.

A sweet romance with a hero that treated the heroine with a kinder and gentler mannerism then is normal in a HP. I liked this well enough but found it to be a more average read.

At first I thought this would be yet another typical Harlequin read with a jerk of a Hero and a doormat/needy heroine, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I liked both main characters. This is a sweet story that will keep you interested till the end.

Rafael was a bit of a hard headed ass and Allegra came across as a door mat thru much of the story. The me tarzan, you Jane dribble becomes a bit much.

This is the reason I continue to read Harlequin Presents, once in a while I find a hero that treats the heroine with a certain amount of respect throughout the book and not just during the last chapter. True, at the beginning Rafael was not nice but he tried to mend his ways and he was not overly cruel. I could feel his struggle to overcome his past. I like that Allegra was a strong woman. Both Allegra and Rafael have had a difficult time growing up so they both had their issues. I liked it, and I would read it again.

Good story, didn't care for the hero of the story. She shouldn't have forgiven him so easily. But all in all. A good read
