An educational juvenile non-fiction book perfect for older elementary and young middle schoolers about landforms. Would be a good resource for book reports and other school projects.

Landforms by Mary Lindeen is an easy to read book for young readers in the Earth Science series. This book teaches the reader about the science of landforms, and their shapes.  It has beautiful color photographs that help the reader to better understand mountains, hills, plateaus, etc. The book will help young readers learn about geography in a fun way in which they will understand. The vocabulary used in the word list is simple and perfect for young readers.

I would love to add this book to my classroom library.

I give this book 4.5/5 stars.

Landforms, by Mary Lindeen is an informative book that provides a fun way for children to learn about various aspects of landforms.

As a part of the Read and Discover Science series, this book encourages children to learn about scientific subjects while working on their reading skills. According to a note from the publisher: "The series can be used with beginning readers to practice high-frequency words, academic language, and to expand comprehension of life, earth, and physical science."

Within thirty-two pages, this book features interesting facts about landforms and Did You Know sidebars intermixed with intriguing full-color photographs. Also, there are sections titled as Earth's Landforms, Connecting Concepts and Word List.

Landforms is a children's picture book that's geared toward kindergartners to third graders.

Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Great concept for the book. While the pictures match the descriptions on the corners, sometimes the vocabulary words to quite work. For instance, what differentiates ocean, river, pond, lake? The pictures chosen could easily be similar things at different scales.

A good start for sure. But just adding a few more details would save a lot of confusion.

Landforms is a beginning to read book in the Earth Science series. This is the perfect book for young early readers to learn about the science of landforms and the many shapes they take in our earth. It is easy to read and the photographs are in gorgeous colors, and truly make it easy to understand what mountains, plateaus, hills, etc. are. The reading word list is simple and geared for early readers. I recommend this series for elementary school libraries, ESL programs, public libraries, and early learning centers that teach science, as well as preschools.
