4 Rebel Stars!

Finally we get Rebel's story. I wasn't sure who was going to be able keep up to Rebel but Cruz was the perfect match for her. These renegades get into so much trouble. I guess its in the blood. They attract it from every angle. From what they do and whom they choose to love.

Rebel is struggling after the accident caused by her sister. This has left her broken physically, emotionally and spirit. As she trying to put herself back together she meets Cruz. A mystery men whom causes a part of her to waken for the first time. Cruz saw something in Penelope/Rebel that he would risk everything for just a moment with this mysterious woman.

One night is all they were going to get, but some risks catch up with you. As Rebel's latest stunt separates these two, they both think they will never see each other again until Cruz ends up on the boat. Unfortunately he's now off limits. But has that ever stopped a Renegade?

I quite liked the book and I have enjoyed this series and I absolutely adore this author.

4.5 stars -- I received a free copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.  Though in all fairness I didn't get to this one before release, so I actually read my preordered copy instead.

Welp, this was definitely my favourite of the series!!  It's like they just kept getting better and better!  I LOVE it when that happens.  I'm not the type of reader who's particularly drawn to forbidden romances (such as student/teacher in this case), but I don't shy away from them either.  Basically if enough else draws me in, then I'm totally in.  And that was most definitely the case in this story.

This one started off beautifully.  I was already mega intrigued by Penna, not only as this badass extreme athlete who was every bit as enthralling as the boys she calls friends, but also as the damaged woman we got to see glimpses of in Nova.  And Ms. Yarros totally fulfilled all my wishes in her story.  We really got a glimpse of how her sister's actions had broken her, and got to delve into the mental aspect of recovering from an accident.  I thought Penelope was exactly as strong inside as she appears on the outside.  She has an inner core of strength that just shined through, even as she struggled with figuring out who she was.  She was sassy, she stood toe to toe with everyone, and she was wicked smart.  She was a heroine it was so easy to fall in love with.

And I ADORED that Cruz didn't want to squash her fire/strength/attitude, but recognized what a privilege it was just to keep up with her.  And at the same time, we still got to see a bit more of what it's like to love someone who is addicted to adrenaline and always pushing the envelope.  It was beautiful.  He was awesome.  I LOVED that he matched her in strength and stubbornness, and that he really pushed her when she needed to be pushed, and was there for her with no strings attached at other times.  He was also really easy to fall in love with.  Dedicated, sassy in his own right, and also wickedly smart.  So hot.  Honestly, I know lots of people love the whole muscles and shiznit, but everytime Penna described his muscular arms, I just wanted her to talk about his dimples, his accent, and hear more of the things that came out of his mouth and the thoughts in his head...but I am a bit weird that way.

And if you couldn't tell from all that, they were perfect complements to each other.  They pushed and pulled and fought but inevitably brought out the best in each other.  And it was so awesome to watch.  And while I probably should have been more bothered by the student/teacher relationship aspect, apparently this reader was fully able to buy into the inevitability of it, and the measures they took for Cruz not to be biased, and all that jazz.  *shrugs*  Honestly, there was so much else going on, it really didn't remain in the forefront except when they brought it up.  It was more them keeping it a secret at times.

As with all the other Renegade books in this series, I desperately wanted to visit all the places they were seeing, and go on my own world cruise.  I loved learning little tidbits here and there about the places they were seeing.  And I also fell in love with the sports aspect...I think one of the things that I loved about this series is that it is true sports romance, in that we actually get to delve into the sports, not just have them be some background aspect.

And I was so on the edge of my seat throughout much of this book!  GAH!  So much action and suspense!

Honestly, I think my only real problem with this book is that I noticed quite a few instances of repetition.  Like I had so many moments of deja vu, where I felt like Penna had described something in the EXACT same way a few chapters earlier.  Or Cruz and Lindsay would have the EXACT same conversations in two different places.  And that led to some little bits where I'd be wondering why the result of the previous conversation didn't follow through in the future.  Or why Penna got away with not talking to Rachel OVER AND OVER even though she constantly said they'd talk later, or that night, etc.  These aren't huge things, just a bit of a bummer because it took me out of the story.

All in all, this was a SMASHING finale to the series.  The grand gesture at the end was everything I was hoping it would be and more, and the epilogue was perfect!  You have no idea how happy I was with it; not just its contents, but the fact that it existed...I needed that final wrap up/glimpse into the future.  Now I'm off to dream about dimples...does it for me every time.

I have loved all of Rebecca's books since I first read her book Full Measures! And when this series started I was drawn into the world she created I didn't want to leave! I have book looking forward to Rebel's book since book one and to say I was excited when this popped up on my kindle is a bit of an understatement!

Rebel is the third book is The Renegades series, after Wilder and Nova. Rebel, or Penna, is the third and only female to make up the main Renegade group. Months after an accident mastermind by her sister that broke her leg and made her lose herself Penna is trying to find her footing in the world she lives, unsure if she has what it takes to be a Renegade again. After all it was being a renegade and doing the stunts that she and her best friends love and are known for that caused her sister Brooke to crack and lead to her broken leg in the first place.

Penna decides to do a stunt to see if her Renegade self is still buried inside her, she meets a mysterious man and they decide to do the crazy stunt together. But after an exhilarating leap and a few hours in jail she has to go back to the real world on a cruise ship and thinks she may never see that man again, and she didn't even get his name. Cut to the first day of class, who's voice does she hear in the seminar? Non other than her mystery man, and he's her teacher.

What happens when the bold beautiful and so bad ass Penna is face to face with the man she can feel against her skin days later? Cruz, her mystery man, is just as shocked to see her in his class room, but he can't let it deter him, because he has more important things to focus on, but will his secrets matter when he can't fight the pull to Penna? Will his secrets tear him at Penna apart?

I truly loved this book! I had very little that I could complain about! I felt the connection between Penna and Cruz! The steam was amazing, but the actual storyline was fantastic! I loved the epilogue! We got to see all the original Renegade! The only thing I didn't like about this book was the Brooke aspect! I wanted to know more about her and Penna's relationship in the future as the last we saw of them together the relationship was beyond broken, including Penna's relationship with her mother! But that did not deter me from my love for this book!!

I would 100% recommend this book and this whole series to romance readers!! You won't regret one-clicking this amazing title!

OHHH Has Mizz Yarros done it again! I have loved Penna’s character right from the start but her finally getting her own story was just unbelievable. I honestly think this is my favorite of this series and that is pretty hard since I am in LOVE with Paxton!
I can honestly say with this story, I was given a full range of emotions. I laughed, wanted to cry, wanted to yell and I wanted to just hug them by the time it was all over! I really enjoyed the concept of their story and the angst that these two had. Penna and Cruz just have that passion about them that is so undeniable that it leaves you fanning yourself. Between the quick wit and banter, you are left in giggles!
Overall, this story packs such a punch that you cannot put it down and you are taken for a journey that is unforgettable. If you have not read anything from this author, run, do not walk to your nearest retailer and get to one clicking! You will not be disappointed whatsoever!

I expected a student/teacher romance, which happens to be one of my favorite romance tropes. What I got was so much more. The characters were so well written. I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed reading a female lead character so much. The story was much more than just student/teacher. It was so original and it will definitely take you through tons of emotions. This book was so bittersweet for me. This was such an amazing conclusion to a series, but I am so sad to see the end of a series that I have absolutely loved.

Rebecca never fails to write engaging and poignant stories and this one was no different. This entire series is definitely a one-click series. I can't wait to see what she brings us next.

Let's start with how hot and amazing this cover is! It is exactly how I pictured Penna and Cruz as I read this book. Rebecca Yarros does it again with this release. This book has all that I have come to expect from her books. Exciting, adventure, drama, sexiness, love, happiness. Penna and Cruz have a crazy Vegas night in their past, but no one can be more shocked than him when she steps foot in his class. He is now her professor so that makes her off limits... right?
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book provided the publisher and NetGalley.

Living life on the edge is nothing new for the members of the Renegades. For Penna – the risk has finally made her question her place within the games. An injury that plagued her mind, while her sister’s betrayal crushed her heart. Now Penna is faced with the struggling of knowing who she is, knowing where she stands in her sport, and where she wants to proceed with extreme sports. A Renegade at heart. An athlete that knows how ‘the next big thing’ can threaten to crush your career.

With a determination unlike any other, Penna decides to see if she still ‘has it’. A base jumping stunt that no one knows about….including the other Renegades. Penna’s plan to take on a risk all on her own takes a new turn when she runs into Cruz. With Vegas as the setting to this risky stunt, Penna decides to throw caution to the wind and ask Cruz to base jump with her.

The two set out on their adventure, and decide they can’t ignore the attraction that clearly is buzzing around them. One night…that’s all they planned. A night to give in to the rush that so clearly envelops them. What neither counted on was a swift interruption by the police. Tearing the couple apart before they acted on their attraction.

Now they are pushed back into the lives that they planned. Never knowing the true identity of the person that jumped that night in Vegas with no regards to the consequences. A thrilling event that ended without any means of future contact. Penna heads back to the ship to continue with the studies and stunts that await the Renegades. Nothing could have prepared Penna for the new teacher she would encounter aboard the ship. None other than Cruz…the man that threw caution to the wind and base jumped with Rebel. Can they ignore the pull that was so evident that night in Vegas?

Can this book be any more of a scorcher?? Rebel is the last book in the Renegades, and it packed one heck of a punch!! From the previous books, Penna has come off as one tough daredevil. In this story, Penna shows readers a deeper side of her personality…the doubts, fears, and feelings that plague her days. What I didn’t expect to find was the amazing love interest that would take Penna on a ride like no other.

It’s the world of extreme sports with all of the danger wrapped up in the stunts. What makes Penna’s journey different? It’s not every day that you find a female worthy of the status that this Renegade holds. Cruz will rock the very foundation that Penna believes in. Making this journey one filled with scorching hot intensity that will rock your world!! Enjoy the ride……live the sport….devour the romance!!

I was waiting impatiently for this book because Rebel is a character that I like very much. She’s an extreme athlete, which should not be obvious being a woman. Her best friends are Wilder, Nova and Nitro. If you read the first book on Wilder you know what happens to Pena (Rebel). If you read Nova you know she’s hardly recovering, so I was pretty impatient to see what will happen to her. I wasn’t disappointed at all, Pena feels lonely even if she’s surrounded by people who love her. She no longer knows if she is still a Renegade and especially if she will regain the courage to ride on her bike one day. She goes to meet Cruz who on his side will notice that Pena hides something and that she needs someone who can understand her. The problem is that they aren’t supposed to be together and that everything will be royally complicated in their lives.

I love Penelope, she’s strong and independent but at the same time she was broken and has trouble recovering. She feels betrayed and at the same time feels that she’s also betraying her friends. She misses Brooke and that’s what makes her feel like betraying her friends. She thinks they cannot understand what she feels for Brooke after what she has done to them. I understand her reaction but I also know that her friends can only be on her side. I love this totally crazy side that characterizes her so well, Pena is ready for anything to feel strong and even if she has forgotten a little bit that first, she will quickly recover. I also like the relationship she has with Wilder, Nova and Nitro, they are very close all three and she considers them her family.

Cruz is also a character I loved, he’s not afraid of the Renegades or of Pena’s madness. He feels she needs him and eventually he also needs this crazy side in his life. It will push him within his limits and he will have to make choices. I love the attachment that Cruz has with his grandmother and his sister. He is one of the men who had to fight and work to get what they wanted and it is unfortunately not over. Cruz is really a good man and is the perfect person for Penelope.

In this volume we also discover a little more Nick and I liked the passages where we see him. It’s the 4th link in the chain and he had to appear a little more since he will not have a tome to himself.

I really liked this book and this series which made me discover extreme sports and the dangers that athletes may incur. I also enjoyed the friendly and familiar spirit of the characters. They can bully but ultimately they love each other and that makes all the difference.

I discovered Rebecca Yarros thanks to Jay Crownover and frankly I am absolutely not disappointed and I will read her other books with pleasure.

Quick Word: An explosive tome that closes the trilogy perfectly.

WOW! What a ride this was! This was more than just a romance – there were many layers to uncover here and I enjoyed every bit of it. When Penna and Cruz meet it begins an adventure neither of them are ready for. And, after discovering that he is her teacher, their attraction becomes not only explosive but also off limits. With each of them battling their own pasts and their desires to move forward and change their lives, the complication level of this relationship is through the roof. But, with the support of their friends and each other, it’s evident early on that their strong enough to take on whatever the world throws at them. On top of romance, we’re also treated to some adventure. And, no, I won’t tell you more because I think you need to experience it on your own. But, I will say that what Cruz wants to achieve will have you on the edge of your seat.

I loved both Cruz and Penna. Both are strong characters who have baggage they need to deal with but they also realize that their undeniable connection is important as well. Of course, Cruz is swoony, sexy, and very, very sweet. And, his devotion to Penna is sigh-inducing. Penna is a Renegade and, with that, comes her love of all things dangerous. She’s fierce and can definitely hold her own with the rest of the team. These two are quite obviously perfect for one another and their chemistry is through the roof!

This is the last book in this series and I’ve loved every one of them. If you’ve never read a book by Ms. Yarros, this is a great place to start. I think you’ll love everything about these books – from the characters to the relationships to the action, these books will grab you and hold on tight. Enjoy!!

Rebel’s story is the one I’ve been waiting for ever since I was introduced to her in Wilder; there’s just something about a kickass woman who can hold her own and then some in a male dominated environment, and as an extreme sports athlete, Penna Carstairs has made one hell of a name for herself as one of the original Renegades, diving in headfirst regardless of the danger and pushing the envelope as far as it will go.

But at the end of Nova/the beginning of Rebel, there’s more broken parts of Penna than just her leg, and as she works to try and figure out if she still fits the role she created with Pax and Landon by her side, Penna finds herself taking a different kind of risk - one that could break her in ways she never imagined because she’s never felt anything like what Cruz Delgado made her feel in one night and continues to make her feel even when it crosses a line neither of them should be crossing.

Rebecca Yarros does an AMAZING job of illustrating the many layers and demeanors that make Rebel who she is. Since her accident, she’s lost a bit of her inner rebel, which has forced doubts and insecurity to take up space in her head. Rebel is the facade that the world sees - the fearless woman whose ego never waivers. Adventure and recklessness is what ignites Rebel and it’s what her fans expect from her during every stunt and every interaction on the worldwide trip she and the Renegades are using as their EXTREME playground. Beneath her Rebel veneer is Penna - the good time girl who’s always smiling and living life to the fullest. Penna is her default persona, and it’s the one she feels most comfortable in, especially now, when she second guesses her position as a Renegade. At Rebel’s core is Penelope - the fragile and complex girl who tries to hide her pain with fake smiles and bravado. This is the part of her that she rarely allows people to see because it reveals too much about her true nature, so the fact that that’s the layer that Cruz easily recognizes proves how in tune he is with this complicated woman, even when it’s in his best interest to see only what Rebel shows to everyone else because anything more than that places them both in a dangerous position.

Cruz Delgado may not be the daredevil he once was, but there’s not much that the Renegades do that he couldn’t match or at least attempt with little difficulty. But that’s not who Cruz is now and he’s spent the last 8 years of his life singularly focused on one mission, so the fact that he feels more than a physical connection to a girl he barely knows throws him off balance and makes him reassess exactly what he’s willing to give up in order to accomplish the one thing that’s always dominated his every action.

Penna and Cruz’s chemistry is evident from their very first interaction, but even though they met one another before embarking on the Athena, it’s clear that his role as professor and her role as his student does not allow them to finish what they started in Las Vegas. Yarros does a great job illustrating just how conflicted both Penna and Cruz are once they realize one another is off-limits, and while it’s clear that Cruz wants to do what’s right because he’s teaching on a cruise ship for a very particular reason, what Penna offers him is something he can’t relinquish because everything she feels for him, he feels as well, so while there’s a huge risk every time they cross their predetermined boundaries, the undeniable bond that formed in a short amount of time becomes something that they both desperately need to live and breathe, even if the outcome of their inappropriate relationship destroys more than just Cruz’s teaching career.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed Yarros’ Renegades series. Each of the three stories teaches the characters and its readers that sometimes taking risks is worth the fallout…that sometimes being alive means working past one’s fears and accomplishing feats that would never have even been attempted without the opportunities that lie before them. And while the Renegades definitely put their lives on the line with each stunt that they attempt to master, what’s also clear is that they attempt to live life fully, experiencing everything it has to offer and never holding back when things seem too risky or too difficult. Dylan Thomas would definitely see Penna, Pax, and Landon raging ‘against the dying of the light,’ and while they don’t expect everyone to follow their lead, they do expect everyone to make the choice making their lives everything they’ve ever wanted them to be.

5 Poison Apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)

If you've kept up with The Renegades series you know that Penna was seriously injured by someone she loves. It's not only effected her body but it's really screwed with her mind. She can't quite find herself and doesn't know if she'll ever be Rebel. one of Original the thrill seeking Renegades, again.

"For the last three months, I’d felt like plain ol’ Penna, and no matter what I did, I couldn’t rouse Rebel, couldn’t get her to stand up and take notice that I was withering away."

Knowing she just has to throw herself back into it she cons a guy she just met in a bar to literally jump back into her old life. Chemistry flew but so did their short time together. Thinking she would never see him again, she is quite surprised when he turns up on the cruise ship she'll be stuck on for the next few months. A forbidden relationship fuels between these two as Penna slowly puts on her Rebel persona again. There's one thrill ride after another, plenty of breathtaking stunts and some twists you didn't see coming. As is usual for The Renegades.

"You are a Renegade through and through. That need for adrenaline, to prove yourself, to be the best."

You know when you get into a great book but then it always ends too quickly because it runs out of storyline? This book kept going and going and kept twisting and turning. Life with the Renegades is never boring and never once did I feel like it was dragging on. Moments had me holding my breath and cringing while I was there laughing and celebrating with them when they landed the perfect trick too. The more I read, the more I got excited and pulled in to every stunt until finally the Renegades pulled off the biggest stunt of their lives.

“'Ever wonder why it is we find the best views, highest peaks, and then hurl ourselves off them?' Landon asked. 'Because it’s fun,' I answered with a shrug."

This series is one of my top favorites. From the excellent writing and well developed characters to the thrilling storylines. I have yet to find any other books with this kind of thrill seeking excitement. I'm hoping it doesn't stop here...

"We weren’t indestructible anymore, and we knew it, but we still had one another."

Rebel is book 3 in The Renegades series by Rebecca Yarros. I am a huge fan of her writing because she hits you right in the feels every time.

Rebel is the only girl in a group of daredevils and she is a bad ass. She has defied all gender barriers and doesn't let anything hold her back. Cruz is a man she met a bar and had a fling with. He is irresistibly hot with lickable abs and he doesn't let her dangerous job get in the way of his feelings for her. He doesn't tell her she has to quit. The only thing that really stands in their way is the fact that he's her professor making their romance forbidden.

I seriously didn't want this story to end and I am sad that it is the last book in this series. I have loved this series so much!

Sometimes you can’t merely read a book; you have to live it. I LIVED THROUGH Rebel by Rebecca Yarros. The last story in the phenomenal Renegades trio, Rebel is a romance you live…breath…feel…experience. Oh did I experience everything! I FELT Rebel race through me…every single word!

Rebel is a HEADY HIGH, one I FELT the moment I began reading. This book made me BREATHLESS!!!There is no other way to read this stirring story except to do a deep dive, so I sank in until I could only feel the words. I plunged ALL THE WAY INTO this thrilling and tender tale, and loved every minute!

I’ve never been a toe-in-the-water kind of girl. I was a dive-headfirst-and-see-what’s-at-the-bottom girl.

I lived and breathed these characters that came to life before my eyes.

Bold, brave, beautiful, and badass to the bone, Penna may be my favorite heroine yet! Rebel is her name and it fits her like a glove! Penna holds her own in extreme sports, rivaling men in sport, smarts, and sass. Rebel has lady balls the size of balloons and I bowed to her! She gives as good as she gets and then some! I ADORED and ADMIRED this heroine so much!

I’ve never given a shit about rules. They called me Rebel for a reason.

I was IN AWE of everything Rebel! She was my idol!

I don’t go soft and doe-eyed for boys because I worked too damn hard to get where I am to be a piece of ass for some guy on the circuit.

Rebel has never had a man catch her eye until she meets gorgeous Cruz in Vegas one night where their attraction was unstoppable. Cruz is a gorgeous alpha and the perfect man fiery enough to capture this rebel gal, Penna. They would be perfect together if they weren’t teacher and student…off limits in every way.

“You’re everything I can’t have. Don’t you get that?”

The sexual tension is high. The pull is too palpable, too strong to ignore. I loved this most delicious angst!

If all I got was this one time to kiss him, to feel like he was mine, then I was taking advantage off every second. I kissed him back with everything I had.

That kiss was hot…on fire! It spoke so many words. That kiss was possibly the last. That kiss was EVERYTHING!

She was a magnet and I was a compass, my north facing wherever she moved to.

I MELTED from these oh-so-romantic words. I SWOONED so hard! Sweet and sensual are a lethal combination, one that hit straight to my core.

I thought Pax’s book was IT for me in this series until I met Rebel. Rebel was my KRYPTONITE, my ADRENALINE, my EMOTIONAL EXPLOSION, my EVERYTHING!

Maybe it’s because it was the last book, the last Renegades romance.

Maybe it’s because the Renegades, this family, felt like my family too.

Maybe it’s because of Rebel, truly a badass heroine among the best of the best!

Maybe it’s because the Renegades made me LIVE, leaping off cliffs into the unknown in a story and series that felt like a HUGE HIGH that never left.

Maybe its because that as I lived through this story, I felt so much too.

No…not maybe at all…but YES!!! YES to all of these and more! An all-consuming, adrenaline-filled adventure meets forbidden romance, Rebel hits the heart and slays the soul. Hot, heart-pounding, heady, and utterly hypnotizing, Rebel is the highest of highs meets the lowest of lows. Rebecca Yarros has outdone herself in a riveting ex-soldier/ teacher and an extreme sports superstar/student romance that ROCKED MY WORLD!!!

Rebel is a RUSH OF FEELS! Pulse-pounding meets passion in one sensual super star of a story! I felt this tale take me. I felt the angst tug at my heart, pulling me under. I felt the bitter sting of rejection. I felt heartbreak. I felt hope. I felt happiness. I FELT EVERYTHING!!!

We’d always been a family—able to conquer every fear, land every trick, and generally do the impossible when we were together.

I’m not ready to release the Renegades, these extreme sports daredevils who were my family. I am sad to say goodbye. If I were Rebel, I’d demand that Rebecca Yarros give us more Renegades because I’ll never get enough of this high. This free-fall of feels felt real, and I’m not done falling and feeling.

“That’s why you have me—to show you the parts of yourself that you can no longer see.”

“I have one night, just a few minutes in this eternity of ours, to try to understand you.”

Once again Rebecca Yarros has made me fall in love with one of her stories! This was amazing, absolutely fantastic and so so hot!!! Rebecca owns my soul. I’m not sure how she’s able to create the swooniest heroes time after time but she totally does. So people, you need to read this, because you need to meet your new favorite book boyfriend “Cruz Delgado” aka Doctor Delicious, aka my husband’s cousin, lol!

““God, I love this feeling,” she whispered, as if she hadn’t meant to say the thought aloud. “The rush?” I guessed. “The anticipation. The war that silently rages in my body between what I want it to do and what it knows isn’t safe. The way my stomach tightens and my heart starts to race. The moment the decision is still mine.” I knew the exact moment she was describing because I’d lived it—I was in it now. It was the moment you stood on the edge of epic and decided to topple over.”

To me, he made the book. He was just amazing. His background, his dedication, his hotness, his love for Penna. Ahhh swoons!

“You are a headstrong, independent, stubborn woman surrounded by a sea of boys, when what you crave—what you need—is a man. One who isn’t going to hold you back but isn’t afraid of you, either. One who knows the delicate balance between watching you fly and protecting you so you don’t fall. Hell, I’m not sure any of those boys would even know what to do with you if you ever let them get their hands on you.”

See? See? F-ing Hotttt!!!!

So let’s talk Penna. if you’ve read the other books in the series you know what Penna has been through (if you haven’t, what are you waiting for!!!). Penna is a little lost and trying to find her way after the events in Wilder and Nova. And she’s struggling hard, with who she is, who she was and how she’s perceived by the world. She’s a Renegade to the core, but she’s also such a sensitive soul. I loved her, everything about her. Definitely my favorite heroine of Rebecca’s (sorry Sam!).

“For the last three months, I’d felt like plain ol’ Penna, and no matter what I did, I couldn’t rouse Rebel, couldn’t get her to stand up and take notice that I was withering away.”

As the blurb states, Penna and Cruz met in Vegas and shared an “experience”, let’s call it that.

“She stared up at me, every inch of her body language screaming that she didn’t care what I did. She was going to do whatever she wanted. But her eyes told a different story. There was something damaged there, a desperate plea that tapped into my soul in a way I’d thought I was immune to. Man, was I wrong. She wasn’t a damsel. She was in distress, but she wasn’t going to say a word about it, and that set off every alarm bell in my brain and engaged that sense of chivalry Grandma had busted her ass to instill in me.”

Little do they know that they’re about to become student and teacher. And you know how much I love that trope! High stakes, lots of pressure, lots of sneaking out and the angst!!! Of the charts!!!!

“What if I never felt this kind of connection with anyone else? What if he was the one guy I was capable of feeling something with? What if I was about to miss out on something that was truly once-in-a-lifetime because I was ironically scared to jump?”

“This was a high worth chasing. He was a risk worth taking.”

“This was dangerous. We both knew it, and yet here we were again. Magnets. Gravity. Chemical reactions. Whatever.”

So overall, this book has everything I love:

-Sports: check
-Forbidden: check
-Romance: check
-Angst: check
-Sexy Times: check
-Hot AF Swoony Hero: check
-Strong Kickass Heroine: check

Hands down this is my favorite book this series and a favorite this year. I guarantee it will keep you hooked from beginning to end.

“I don’t do this. I don’t chase boys. I don’t make out with boys. I don’t risk my reputation for a guy, or for some fling, and I sure as hell don’t open myself up for rejection. I’m not a normal girl, and I know that. But I think that you’re the only man strong enough to handle every facet of the woman I am. You’re everything I want, everything I need, and I just want the chance to be what you need, too.”

As I’ve stated before, Rebecca Yarros’ writing is so beautiful, and so real. There’s no way you can read one of her books and not by affected by the writing. Rebecca is one of the reasons our blog exists today. We’re huge fans. There are a couple of authors we support and swear by wholeheartedly, and she’s one of them. This is one of those books we want people to know about, we want everyone to just read!

“So, you and me?” I asked softly. “You and me,” he agreed, taking my lips in a deep, soul-reaching kiss. “It’s not going to be easy.” “Nothing worth it ever is.”

Needless to say, Rebel is 100% Sisterhood approved! This book is all the feels, all of them! Everything you need in a great story from beginning to end. I can’t stop grinning when I think about it. And the epilogue, absolute perfection! We can’t wait for what Rebecca will bring us next!!!

“You challenge every belief I’ve ever held about relationships, and I have a feeling you’ll keep that up, which I am more than fine with. I’m not an easy man, and you’re anything but an easy woman, but together we are effortless, because I can’t imagine any other possibility.”

I loved Pax. I loved Wilder. But holy CRAP...I. LOVED. PENNA. Like, so incredibly much. She is everything I want my young daughter to be. She's strong, independent, smart, adventurous, rebellious, and kind.

Cruz and Penna are PERFECTION. <3 Rebecca could not have written a better plot line for these two. I absolutely LOVED IT! I honestly cannot say enough good things about them. Cruz is so swoonworthy. He was so respectful and kind, but also brave and daring - every single thing that Penelope NEEDED.

This book with the most perfect way to end the series. And that epilogue...GAH! I cried. My heart filled with love for the Renegade family. I'm so sad to see them go, but I'm so happy that I met them.

Bravo, Rebecca. You are a writing Goddess!

I loved this story.

I don't want to rehash the plot because you might want to experience it yourself. This book had all of what I look for in a romance -- main characters that are sooo very good together, great action, good friends, with romance that has a touch of fairy tale. Yep, I may gush a bit. This book made me remember why I love reading romance. It hit all the right notes for me.

I loved Penelope. She's an awesome female lead. She's tough, strong and feminine. And she's struggling with much on her mind and heart after the accident in Dubai. When she meets Cruz, they just click right away. The book started out with a renegade version of Cindarella and just kept on getting better for me.

Cruz and Penelope are so good together, there was no way they were going to be able to stay away from each other on the ship. Their chemistry is off the charts. I liked how their relationship developed while they were trying to stay away from each other. When all that tension got released, there was some major steam between these two. Although there were a few times they were a little too gooey, it made for a great fairy tale love story.

The stunts were awesome and Penelope's journey back to her bike was a great story line. I think I really liked this part of the book as much as the romance. What makes the thrill seeker tick and how injuries mess up an athlete were very interesting parts of Penelope's recovery.

Another satisfying part of this book was how the originals interacted with each other and Rachel plays a significant role in the story. I thought Rebel wrapped up the series perfectly. (although I could go for a Brandon Wilder story... he's seriously in need of some romance!)

I really enjoyed this book. Just writing the review makes me want to go back and re-read again. This is definitely on my Favorites of 2017 list.

An ARC was provided for review.

5+ ALL THE CROWNS I COULD EVER GIVE

It has been over a year since a novel has gripped me, and not just a novel but a series. The Renegades and particularly Rebel has enraptured me, heart and soul. I never want to leave these characters and this world Rebecca Yarros has created, and Rebel is just the shining star of an already beloved series.

What has made me love this series is the Renegades. This cast of characters are a real family, and the author writes about them in a way that you feel the love they have for each other. They will sacrifice and bleed for each other, provide endless, no strings attached support for one another, and give complete acceptance for what they desire and want. They are wild, crazy, and reckless, but at their core Pax, Nova, Rebel, and Nitro are passionate and live every moment to the fullest while they can, knowing they have each other's backs if they stumble and fall. Even as the Renegades grew with Rachel, Leah, and Cruz over the course of the series, their zeal for life never falters, pulling these new characters into the fold, and this group just became something special, something that is so hard to put into words. This family, not by blood but choice, is stronger than any I can remember reading about, and it is one that most would long to have as well.

Rebel is one of my absolute favorite heroines ever!! EVER! She is everything I would want in a role model for my own daughters. Rebel is fierce and a bada** athlete, dominating a male-centric sport. She works hard for her role on this world and never backs down from a challenge. She is passionate and goes after what she wants with abandon. Penelope is intelligent, loyal, and kind. She has a huge heart that wants to heal and forgive, and she works tirelessly to get back the parts of herself that she has lost. Rebel and Penelope make up who Penna is. These two different names represent the strength and vulnerability readers find in her character, and I found that I admired every single courageous part of her. There is not one aspect of her that I disliked, and there must be more Rebels not only in books but the world.

Cruz couldn't have been any more perfect for Penelope. He is this strong alpha who understands what she needs. He gives her freedom yet speaks his mind when it comes to her safety, perfectly balancing what they both need. He is smart and loyal, and his dedication to Penelope and his family is beyond what readers would want in a hero. He is a man who would do anything for those he loves and does. They come first for him, and with each sacrifice he makes and with each word he utters to Penelope, I fell more and more in love with this man. I'm not sure if it is his accent or what but the chemistry in the sheets between this two is off the charts, and not because it is overtly sexual. It is the way he cherishes her body and soul and the way he protects her that makes even the simplest interaction between them so much more sensual. His honor and his heart make it absolutely impossible not to love this man.

This story is PERFECTION!! From cover to cover, I was enthralled by Rebel's comeback. She has been broken by those she loved and trusted, and she has been lost since it happened. This book though is about her journey back, her path to becoming a Renegade again, and every single moment is fantastic because it becomes about more than being Rebel. It is about facing her demons, fusing together Penelope and Rebel, and seeking out what makes her a Renegade. Seeing her come back together with the Renegades and Cruz and confronting her past is exhilarating, and I was so proud of her as a reader for every single hurdle she overcome. Watching her open her heart and embrace love is so worthwhile, and readers want for it all to work out. Of course, there is the huge hurdle of their forbidden relationship and the expected conflict, but even though I knew it was coming, I was still gutted. Cruz's actions and Penelope's reaction broke my heart, just ripped me to shreds, but Rebecca Yarros gives them an ending they absolutely deserve. Not only do they get the ending they deserve, but all the Renegades get a life they have earned with that epilogue. I seriously couldn't have been happier as a fan of this series for how she chose to end this epic adventure.

What is so enticing about these books is the energy that emanates from this group. These books make you want to embrace life, take on challenges, and go on adventures. They make you want a family like this group, people who will love with full hearts and endless support. These couples make you want a love that consumes and that fights against the odds to stay together. It makes you want everything that life has to offer and to grip it with both hands. These characters and every single journey absolutely inspired me.

As I end this review, I have two emotions warring inside of me. I am so sad it is over. I don't want it to end. I want more Renegades, more love, more family, just more forever. I am also so elated with every aspect of Rebel and the series. Rebecca Yarros should absolutely be standing on the author podium with medals around her neck for this amazing story and series. It couldn't have asked for more as she delivered epicness, and I am forever a fan of this writer because of the Renegades.

My gods, this book. After years of reading everything Rebecca Yarros writes, I've become fairly well accustomed to her wrecking me (in the best possible way) with every new release, but I couldn't have predicted ALL THE FEELS she delivered with Rebel. It was absolutely perfect, one of my favorite books of the year so far. I wouldn't change a single thing about it.

Rebecca is one of those authors whose releases I don't even read the blurb for before deciding I want to read the book. Because of that, I had absolutely no idea the setup for this story. I knew it was Penna's book and that alone was enough to give me total grabby hands over it. Once I started reading and realized it was a forbidden romance with a hot teacher, I couldn't read it fast enough. It truly was a one-sitting read for me, as I devoured it in a matter of mere hours.

Penna has always intrigued me. She's such a strong character, such a badass woman, but I always suspected there was more lurking underneath the surface. I wasn't wrong. I loved getting a chance to see a more vulnerable, less self-assured side of her during this book. She is amazing, point blank. And Cruz? Oh. My. God. I was all in on him from their first meeting and NOT just because he was hot AF. Something about him made me want to learn EVERYTHING about him. What a guy. Seriously. He's high up on my all-time book boyfriend list.

I won't get into the nitty gritty about this story because you should experience it as I did — unspoiled. Rebel will take you places and give you plenty of feels along the way. Penna and Cruz's chemistry was so intense, so irresistible that I knew it was just a matter of time before they gave in and I WAS HERE FOR IT. Of course, I also appreciated the chance to get more from the characters I loved from books earlier in the series — and a bit of a cameo from beloved characters from ANOTHER series we're all acquainted with. I laughed, smiled, blushed and, yes, cried, during this one. Feels — of all varieties — for freaking days.

Rebel is a gorgeous book. I love Rebecca's writing and the way she spins a story. I fall hard for her characters every single time and I'm with them for every experience, every feel. This book was no exception. Based on the epilogue — which was AMAZING — I think this is the last book in The Renegades series. I'd always kinda hoped to get more from Nitro, to be honest, but I can't be angry this series has come to an end. I loved it from the time I picked up the first book. I can't deny it went out on a strong note with Rebel. And that epilogue. *all the heart eyes*

FAVORITE QUOTES

Maybe I was damaged, a little broken, but I was still me.

Kissing Cruz made me feel borderline insane—every ounce of logic fled as he kissed my collarbone, and I became a creature of pure physical need.

"Your friends? All boys. Their little follower-Renegades? Boys. Jumping out of airplanes and flipping motorcycles doesn't make you a man. Serving something larger than yourself, sacrificing for someone you love, understanding the nature of true suffering and working to alleviate it in someone other than yourself—that's manhood."

"I'm not blind. You look at that girl like she is the first drop of sunshine you've seen after a lifetime of darkness."

Kissing Cruz brought me back to myself. No expectations. No stunts. No cameras. Just the one man who accepted me simply as I was.

"It's impossible. Impossible to be with you. Impossible to not want you. Impossible to stay the fuck away."

"You and me. It's not going to be easy."
"Nothing worth it ever is."
