From the first few pages I knew this was going to be an awesome read. I connected with Penna/Penelope and Cruz from the very beginning, and for me, Rebel was everything I was hoping for and more.
The storyline was well written, the angst was well done, I laughed at their antics, I swoon with their romantic gestures and I cried for their pain.

Penna/Rebel/Penelope and Cruz were both such strong, likable, endearing characters. When you first meet them they come across as confident and sure of themselves, but underneath these two are hurting, no one sees the pain and insecurities they're going through day in day out.
Until they meet, being together they feel safe, secure and not afraid to show the real selves to each other.

I loved their chemistry, it was so strong I felt it from the first time they met. I loved how deep their connection was, they both knew they couldn't act on their feelings but how long can you deny your heart and body when that's all you want and think about 24/7.

I loved watching these two wounded souls find comfort, love and respect in each others company.
They made my heart swoon so many times...

Rebel was a beautiful, heartfelt read that I devoured in one sitting. I told the family they had to fend for themselves & placed a "Do Not Disturb" sign on my bedroom door.
When your favourite author writes a new story everything is put aside and reading takes first place ;)

Truly this was the perfect read, and that epilogue was simply perfection, seeing all the gang together, happy and watching their family grow was a perfect close to the Renegade series.

Rebel is the third book from The Renegades series, each book can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend you read them all as the characters do appear in each book and play a role in the overall enjoyment.

Thank you Rebecca Yarros for sharing your beautiful, heartfelt words and characters with us.
Can't wait to see what you have planned for us next <3

6+ “X-Game Worthy” Stars!

I stretched reading this one out as long as possible to enjoy and savor every moment. (Which is hard to do with an action-packed, fast paced, AMAZING story! Rebecca helped a little with it being the longest in the series which meant more words for me!) I love this entire series and I just didn’t want it to be over. It’s hard for me to say which book was my favorite but this one is definitely a top contender!

As I write this review, I am both completely in awe and very happy but also extremely sad. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not sad because of the book or the story. I am sad because one of my favorite romance series of all time is over. I have fallen completely head over motorcross boots in love with The Renegades.

When it comes to the student/teacher relationship trope, I am very picky. I’ve only ever liked a few of them. This one tops them all. The forbiddenness and the tension has to be just right without leaving a scummy feeling or be over the top with drama. Cruz and Rebel’s relationship was just perfect. Their personalities separate from each other were amazing let alone when they were together!

Cruz is the ultimate book boyfriend! He’s so swoony! One of the best parts about him is that he wasn’t threatened at all by Rebel’s strong and independent personality. He’s protective but not so much so that he’s smothering. He knows when he needs to be head strong and when to back off. Their chemistry was hot and the passion was not lost between the two. Rebel is so relatable in so many ways. She’s the lone girl with 3 guys as her best friends and is just as much of an adrenaline junkie as they are. Always keeping up with them, she’s a bit lost after her injury. Can she be the Rebel everyone knows and loves or will she just be Penelope? She needs the right man, not boy, to help save her but will she let him?

What helps make this series so amazing is the cast of supporting characters. They are not just friends; they are a true family and they stick together no matter how hard it gets. While each of the books in this series focuses on one Renegade, it encompasses them all. They win, lose, learn, and grow together. Always. I do wish that Nick would get a story of his own. I fell more in love with him in this story and feel like there is so much more to learn. I know there is no plan for it but a girl can wish right?!? Maybe a novella down the line! *fingers crossed!*

While I do wish for more Renegades, this was the perfect ending for the series. The epilogue was pure gold. I loved it so much! I think I re-read it 3 times after I finished the story because I was so obsessed with it.

Note: Each of these books could be read as standalone stories but please don’t start at the end. Start with Wilder, fall completely in love with all the characters, and then watch as they get to be in the spotlight.

I enjoy forbidden romance, and I think the idea there is a reason that the couple are not able to be involved is compelling.

Penna and Cruz are student and teacher, and Cruz is a last minute replacement for the history teached on board the Renegades ship. And, this was interesting as they had not only met previously but were involved in an illegal base jump together, so they know there is an attraction and a connection.

The forbidden was mostly compelling, but then the book took a bit of a turn and it went into another reason that they were not able to be together. And, I felt a little overwhelmed by the title at this point, like maybe there was too much going on, and that the forbidden student and teacher romance was enough without the additional tension.

The book, at least for me, was a little too long and I thought there were areas where too much time was spent in each area, with the development of the story. I thought this pulled you out of the central Penna and Cruz story, and I thought it cost some of the momentum of the story. A lot of this was time spent with other Renegades characters. Admittedly, this is my first book in the series, so I did not have the connection to these secondary characters that I would have if I had read all of the books, and this might be a factor.

I did enjoy it overall, and I do recommend this title.

The Renegades series is everything I'm not. Yet, it is by far one of my favorite series...ever. The whole gang, Pax, Nova, and Rebel, they just had me from the first pages of their stories. In this case of Penna and Cruz, they were wonderfully developed characters that I couldn't get enough of. Their journey was epic and their happy ending one of my favorites. Much like Wilder, I couldn't put down Rebel.

4 Stars!

A fantastic story of a forbidden romance between teacher and student set with the backdrop of a cruise ship and exotic locations, a dangerous rescue, extreme sports and a beautiful romance between two people who just get each other! Rebeccas Yarros hit it out of the park with Rebel, the next book in The Renegades series!

Rebel is Penna's story and begins several months after the accident that sidelined her from the Renegades. She is tentative and not sure who she is anymore. In Vegas, she plans a stunt with one of the other Renegades, but when he is too drunk to do the stunt, she grabs the hot guy at the bar, Cruz. They have an immediate connection and he, being a former Army Ranger, sees something in the beautiful Penna, or as he calls her Penelope, and does the stunt. Afterwards, they go their separate ways. A day or two later, they are reunited on the School at Sea ship - Cruz is Penna's new professor!

Penna's story is pretty straight forward, but she had a lot of emotional baggage that weighs her down. Her attraction to Cruz is inconvenient, but you can't control life. Cruz comes with baggage of his own, but his involves a dangerous quest. Neither can stay away from the other. They both risk as lot, but Cruz risks his job, his family and his safety.

Yarros's writing is stellar and the story flows nicely. There is a lot off angst and tension as Cruz and Penna fight to stay away from each other. I loved the ebb and flow of the story as it played out and moved toward the climax. All along, I was drawn to these characters and invested in both their relationship and their back stories.

You have got to read this book and let Penna and Cruz take you on a sexy, emotional ride!

And when I didn’t think that I could love this series anymore, Rebecca Yarros blew me away AGAIN! These books are so unique, action-packed and full of amazing romance! Just like the previous books, I felt like this book was really fun, but still had emotional topics interwoven into the plot making it heartfelt and dynamic. I am really, REALLY sad that this will be the final book in the Renegades series, but I am extremely happy that I read these book and hope to re-visit them several times in the future!

Rebecca Yarros’s writing is absolutely phenomenal! I am always instantly sucked into the story and this book was no different. Rebel was full of action and amazing stunts, but they took more of a backseat than they did in the previous books. I felt like this book focused more on the devastation left over from the end of Wilder and how the characters, mostly Penna, had to cope. That aspect did make this book feel less ‘fun’ and more serious, but it also added more depth to the characters and the dynamic between them.

I can’t even begin to explain how excited I was to read Penna’s book! She is so sassy, independent and although she can hang with the guys, she also has a girly side. It was nice seeing the hard front she is always putting on slowly crumble as she reevaluated her life goals, family dynamic and friendships. Her character development was amazing and by the last page, I felt like she was the Renegade that I really got to know the most. And let’s not forget about the introduction of one of my favorite book boyfriends, Cruz! He was PERFECTION! I loved that he was older than Penna and the other Renegades because I felt like he balanced out some of their crazy antics. He still was a free-spirit and liked doing some crazy stuff himself, but he always evaluated the situation first, where as some of the Renegades were a bit reckless.

The romance between Penna and Cruz was amazing! At first I was not exactly sure how I felt about the forbidden aspect of it (teacher-student), but considering they were both consenting adults, I slowly started to root for them. I LOVED how they met and that it was fate that brought them together. Surprisingly, I never really felt the angst between Penna and Cruz, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t feel their chemistry. I do wish that I could have seen them together more! I loved the push and pull of their attraction, but I wanted to see more of them as a couple out in the world rather than hidden in a hotel room.

I am super sad, and I expect other readers probably are too, that Nick is not getting his own book, but I am happy that he was integrated within this story a lot more. I do think that Rebel was a great conclusion to this epic series and the epilogue helped wrap it up perfectly!

This series has definitely became one of my favorites! I HIGHLY recommend it if you love unique romance with action thrown in. Wilder still is my favorite from the series, but all the books are fantastic! I will say that although this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading them in order. If you skip the first book, it will definitely give away some big spoilers and Rebel is so good that you will definitely want to read the others in the series!

“I have everything I could possibly want, but not the one person I need. I don’t know how to give up on him, or how to reconcile the fact that everything I have is worthless.”

My heart is still pounding, racing, swooning and falling in no-holds-barred love with Rebel, with Cruz, with Penelope. It’s an uncontainable feeling of joy, having read this book and found it to be everything I wanted it to be, everything I needed it to be, everything I hoped it would be.

Rebecca Yarros didn’t just knock this one out of the park. She obliterated it. Rebel was a perfect balance of all the things I adore in romance—a swoony hero with all the right words; a kickass heroine with the strength to be both brave and vulnerable; a group of friends that are in it, in life, together; and action-packed, adrenaline-heavy adventure.

There’s really no way to say this without being a complete and utter fangirl, but since I have no shame in that department, I’m just going to go with it: Rebel is not just my favorite book of this stellar series, it is also one of my favorite books of 2017. Ms. Yarros blew me away, enthralled me with her words, and there isn’t a single thing I would change about it. Not the forbidden, stolen moments that made me ache two-fold—knowing that Cruz and his Penelope were so right, yet so wrong. Not the bruised, bent but not-yet broken truth of Penna’s pain. Not the high thrill, high risk, high stakes ending.

And certainly not that epilogue. What a way to finish the Renegades series. What a reward for readers of these three books, fans of this rebellious group of daredevils. I don’t think this epilogue—or Rebel in its entirety—could have been more perfect. And, though I was loathe to close the book on this series, I couldn’t help but tear through this final installment like a woman on a mission.

Like a reader on a mission to find the best book, the happiest ending, the most rewarding tale. Which, in case it’s not yet obvious, was a mission I completed with heart-racing happiness and no-holds-barred joy. {And a MAJOR crush on Cruz…}

He kissed me a step past breathless, a moment longer than forever, until he had me arching in to him, everything forgotten but the slide of his tongue and the subtle caress of his hands.

I think this might be my favorite of The Renegades series - and that is saying a lot because I truly enjoyed them all.
Penna (aka Rebel) is a character that we have seen since the series began and have seen her go through a lot, but this is the first time we get to meet Penelope - the complete person behind the persona. As I got to know Penna as a more complete person, I really liked her. I've always known she was more than a pretty face, even more than just a wonderful athlete, and it was nice to get to know that person.
Cruz is the newest faculty member at the Renegades study at sea program. He's an easy character to like and root for, especially when he almost immediately sees past Penna's facade to the woman beneath and wants to take care of her.
Rebel has a lot going on in the plot department. There is the "normal" Renegades piece that carries through the series, but there are so many other elements. We see Penna's emotional struggles on several fronts, Cruz's secrets, and the taboo element of their relationship. Ms. Yarros does a fantastic job of pulling all of these pieces together in such a way that they blend together seamlessly and create an emotional journey that you don't want to end.
There was one issue that kept this from being a full 5 star read for me and it was the interaction between Penna, her sister Brooke, and their mother. While the Brooke issue was important to the story, the resolution and final confrontation felt a little incomplete to me. It left me with more questions than answers, especially about Penna's relationship with her parents.
Rebel is very much part of a series. It could be read as a stand-alone, but I would not suggest reading it as such. Part of what makes this such a strong book is knowing what has happened before, so I would definitely read the series in order to get the full impact.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

OMG this book is.... there are no words for it. This book is AMAZING. And the epilogue, wow. I loved every word. This book left me with a big smile and tears streaming down my face, in a very good way.

Rebecca Yarros proved again what an amazing writer she is. She makes you feel everything tge characters are feeling.

I loved Nova and especially Wilder very, very much, but I think Rebel is my favorite.

Rebel is the third and last installment in an amazing trilogy about the Renegades. Rebel is the only original female Renegade and I loved that this book was about her. And Cruz was very swoon worthy.

4,5 Rebel stars

This is the epitome of a very good romance story. The character cast was fantastic! The plot had just the right balance of (slightly) forbidden romance (teacher/student), great friendship and coming to terms with some inner guilt and bruised past.

First of all: I love Rebel!
I’m a reformed tomboy. You know the kind to climb trees, make stunts with the boys on her skateboard. The only girl allowed at playing football (pardon, soccer) with the boys at school. The one who never backed away from a challenge and knew how to use her fists against boys if need arose.
So Rebel being the only girl in a bunch of daredevils touring the world to make crazy stunts more dangerous than the former ones was my kind of girl! Did I dig that chick!

Second: Cruz is the perfect boyfriend.
Seriously he is not only drool worthy all lickable abs, happy trail, dark hair and something eye but he is incredibly supportive. He fell for Penelope/Rebel and her crazy job but will never try to cage her or put any blackmail hoping to have her stop her dangerous activity. He will band her injuries, demand to study the projected stunt to better advise the technicalities and security measures…and worry till it’s done but never stopping her. He knew the stunts were part of her personality. Rebel is who Penelope is.

Let’s put some order to this review now.
This book is part of a series and it would probably be best to read the other books first but that’s not what I did. I read it as a standalone and got the gist of the other books without too many difficulties. It certainly did not deter me from my pleasure!

As already said Rebel is a twenty something woman part of a band of daredevils. Pax, Landon, Nico and Penelope are the “Originals”. The firsts to have created this group of adrenaline junkies. They know each other since childhood and now have made their stunts into a business, gathering other “Renegades” with them and a huge fan base.
In the previous book a drama happened and Rebel has been physically and morally wounded.
She now is trying to go back in the saddle and the story opens on Penelope convincing a stranger met in a bar at Vegas to pull a BASE jump from a Ferris wheel.
She needs to prove she can do stunts again. Not to others, well that too, but to herself first.

The story revolves around a forbidden romance but also around Rebel’s journey to rebuild her confidence and self-esteem. I really liked her determination, her dedication. She wants to claim back that brazen part of her that’s been missing. You have to admire the girl as she is one strong willed heroine!

The forbidden romance aspect happens when Rebel’s new teacher is none other than the mysterious stranger: Cruz.
Of course they’ll try to resist their attraction but the chemistry is too strong! She could ruin Cruz’s career and he desperately needs to teach on that ship for personal reasons.
Oh yes, I forgot to tell that Rebel and her friends are touring the world in a cruising ship, busy getting their college degree thanks to in house teachers. How cool is that right? Being taught on a boat cruising the oceans. Yes sign me in any time!

I really loved witnessing the blossom of their love. How perfect they were for each other forbidden aspect aside. Nothing wrong had ever felt so right!
I loved the friendships with Pax, Landon, Rachel, Leah. Learning the technicalities of the stunts was very interesting and following that strong girl on the path of her recovery was inspiring.

So would I recommend it? YES if you’re a fan of romance without too much angst with swoon worthy character and in need of a kickass heroine.

I Voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book
This books begins with Penna (Penelope) lost and a little broken. She doesn't really know where she fits in anymore and isn't sure if being a Renegade is for her.

When she meets Cruz Delgado at a bar in Las Vegas, there is an instant attraction. One that sets your skin on fire and leaves you breathless. Thinking they will never see each other again after their hot night together, they were both in for a shock when it turned out that Cruz... is her new professor.

They try as hard as they can to keep their distance and to just be student and teacher, but their attraction is one they can't deny. It's one that neither of them has ever felt before.

Ok, don't throw anything at me but REBEL is my very first read from this series AND from this author, period. I know! I'm so behind the ball on the greatness that is Rebecca Yarros' writing. Believe me, once I finished REBEL, I wanted to binge this series SO FREAKING HARD because these characters are EVERYTHING!

REBEL was a high-octane SMASH HIT of a romance and I NEVER wanted it to end! The whole way through, I kept thinking to myself that this story belongs on the big screen! I could see it playing out so vividly in my mind, it was just crazy! REBEL, aka Penna Carstairs, aka Penelope, is a certified BADASS! I mean seriously, if I were into women, I would absolutely be IN LOVE, but we shall settle for being completely enamored by her spirit, her sassiness, her confidence, her EVERYTHING! I want to be her when I grow up, even though I'm already 33 years old. And don't even get me started on Dr. Cruz Delgado! WOW! His forbidden obsession with Penelope was spine-tingling. At the beginning you knew what was going to happen because it's all in the blurb, but it still sent a shock through my system when I read it. An author who can surprise you like that, even when you know what is coming, now THAT is some damn good talent!

REBEL was a fast-paced thrill ride of a sexy romance that had me HOOKED INSTANTLY! I only regret I didn't meet these characters sooner, but no worries because the minute I finished REBEL, I went and purchased the first two in the series. I don't even care that I know how it all ends up. It's the journey that matters here. In the end, I'm SO FREAKING STOKED that I found this author. Her writing style and her character development is ON POINT and right up my alley. Ms. Yarros has made a brand new FAN with her latest release and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next! Fans of the series may be saying FAREWELL to The Renegades, but I'm just getting started!

Whenever I hear that Rebecca Yarros has a new book out, I can not jump on it fast enough. She has the remarkable ability to seamlessly weave a story that encompasses ALLLL of the things!!! This story was EVERYTHING y'all. It was so damn sexy, emotional and had the perfect combination of the forbidden while incorporating adventure and action!

I have patiently waited for Penna/Rebel's book from the beginning because I knew there was more to the strong and fiery firecracker we saw in Wilder and Nova. After the first couple of pages where we meet Cruz and Penna I just knew this author was going to end this series on an explosion because that is exactly what Cruz and Penna delivered. Their banter was fiery and their attraction just as combustible. He was the perfect alpha Badass to her sassy Renegade. I could not get enough of them.

GAHHHH. This book was everything. YES IT DESERVES TO BE REPEATED. EVERYTHING!!! I laughed, I cried and I wanted to throw them both (along with my kindle out of the window at times) because my frustration level was to the roof. I was hooked on every word and emotion as it was so amazing to see the usually strong and confident Rebel (to the world and her brothers) needing a shoulder to cry and lean on. I absolutely fell in love with Cruz at first sight and was enamoured with the way he saw the vulnerable woman inside looking to find herself again. She was his weakness and as a result, he would do anything for her!!

All in all this was an amazing conclusion to the series and I once again bow down to the greatness of this author. She can do no wrong and always delivers on ALL levels. Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula

I would like to thank NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review

Wow, what a ride! I'm honestly afraid I'm not even going to be able to do this book justice with my words. Rebel has just jumped to one of my top reads of the year and is hands down my favorite book by Rebecca Yarros ever. I wasn't sure what I was expecting going into this book, but I was not at all disappointed with the story I read.

Penna and Cruz are just...everything! The connection and chemistry between these two was off the charts amazing. Cruz is going to the top of my favorite book boyfriend list. It's going to be really hard to knock him down. I don't think I've ever swooned so hard while reading a book before. Cruz said the most beautiful, heart-warming things to Penna. I lost count of how many times I highlighted throughout the book. I loved his loyalty and dedication. He did whatever was necessary to reach his end goal. Penna has also jumped to the top of my favorite female character list. I loved everything about her. She is sassy, strong, independent, and goes after what she wants no matter what.

This book had me on the edge of my seat almost the entire time I was reading it. There was so much anticipation about how certain things would turn out. I loved the suspense, the build up, and the twists that I didn't see coming. It made for an amazing read.

Questions were answered about things that happened in the previous books and it all came together wonderfully. I laughed, I was angry, and I cried. This story was everything you could hope for in a Renegade book and more.

Rebel is a smart, adventurous, sexy read. Third in the Renegades series, it's the story of Cruz Delgado and Penna Carstairs also known as Rebel. They are both intelligent, driven, caring, sexy characters. The story is smartly written, with touch of mystery and the forbidden. The rest of the Renegades add to plot and the togetherness and commitment of the group. Rebel is a fantastic and recommended read. Even though this is a standalone, I would suggest reading Wilder and Nova first to get a better understanding of the group and characters as a whole.

Student-teacher taboo romances are, to be quite honest, no longer taboo. Take a look at French President Macron and his missus, for example. However, stories like theirs are still too titillating to pass up, especially when one adds the age factor to both main characters and there are no further taboos a reader has to deal with (i.e., statutory rape is NOT sexy). By the “age factor,” I mean both MCs are young (NOT like Macron and his madame), single, and ready to mingle.

Rebecca Yarros blended many of those titillating, sensual, exciting, and dramatic elements that made “Rebel” a fast-page-turning read. Whilst the YA aspect of the story was a little bit much for me (e.g., the MCs hem and haw endlessly about their relationship, and their uncontrollable urges and loins are OTT), I just decided to deal with it. I got on with their show, and at the end of the day, I got a good book that took me far and away from my reality. That, after all, is what good books ultimately do.

you guys, rebel was even better than i imagined it would be. penna's story is by far the most emotional one of the bunch. she's still recovering from her leg injury. she's estranged from her little sister, her best friend and the rest of her family. she's not sure she's got what it takes to still be a renegade.

so one night in vegas she decides to try a stunt. and she meets someone who is willing to roll the dice with her on a crazy basejump off a carousel. and that leads them to an intense makeout session that is interrupted only by the police looking for some illegal basejumpers. cruz only knows her as penelope. but when he starts up his new job as a history professor at ucla working a semester at sea program he learns that she is rebel aka penna carstairs, his student.

while what happens in vegas should stay in vegas, the problem is that the chemistry between cruz and penna is ridiculous and out of this world. these two literally scorch the pages of this book with the intensity of their connection and when you add in the layer of danger because they can't get caught it's so hot. so freaking hot.

she is his student. he is her teacher. except she is also his. and he is hers. there is no question that they belong together. their love burns so brightly. it's impossible to contain.

i can't really explain how much i loved this book. part of me is sad that this was written as the last in the series, because i feel like nitro/nick deserved his own book. but the epic epilogue on this one is perfect. literally, everything about this story worked for me. i have no nitpicks or quibbles about cruz and penna's story. i loved everything about it. i keep repeating myself, but it's because i feel compelled to tell everyone how much i loved this book.

I am completely in love with this book.
Since it’s the third one in the series I was a bit afraid that the story wouldn’t be that original and that it would follow a similar pattern as the previous one; I can gladly say that I was very wrong. Color me surprised. There are so many good things I’d like to say about this book that I should probably make a list:

- The writing is always amazing. I love Rebecca’s style, her way of describing amazing stunts and landscapes, how the character’s personalities are portrayed.
- I loved Penna from the first book. She is definitely one of my favourite characters ever. She’s super badass and resilient yet still vulnerable; she was going through a rough path and she had to decide how she wanted to face her fears and problems. I also really really loved her relationship with Pax, Landon and Nick. In this book you can really see their family dynamics and how much they care for each other.
- Cruz. Cruz is just the best thing ever. He’s a great character. He is protective yet very supportive of Penna, he can keep her pace without problem and can make her feel safe. They’re perfect together.
- I loved Penna’s journey throughout the book, how she tried to resolve her problems with Brooke and her bike, her journey to pull off that crazy stunt and her love for Cruz with all the consequences. As well as Cruz’s journey, and how brave he had to be to make the right decision.

So, in case you hadn’t noticed, I really loved this book. The first one had been my favourite but I think that maybe this one was even better.

But now that this series is (sadly) over I’ll just have to go and read the Flight & Glory series.

Thanks for the book, I loved it. 5 stars.

I wasn’t even 5% into this book when I realized it was going to be something really special.

I mean, the reality is that I look forward to every Rebecca Yarros book like it’s some kind of much coveted Christmas present. But even that level of anticipation never seems to adequately prepare me for what I find between the pages. Penna, you guys.

Jesus.

I somehow just wasn’t prepared for the emotional punch of her, the soul deep ache of her, and all the ways she would completely steal my heart.

Ms. Yarros got everything just perfectly right in this series finale. The sizzling, pulsing, nearly tangible chemistry between Cruz and Penna, evident nearly immediately and threading its way into every storyline over the entire course of the book. The stunts and adventures - exciting and suspenseful, causing my breath to catch and my eyes to widen as I feared and cheered for these incredible Renegades. The subtle taboo in the forbidden nature of Cruz and Penna’s relationship making the build-up slow in that way that caused my heart to ache with want and frustration for these two amazing characters and their star-crossed love. Penna – all fiercely independent but so desperate to find her safe harbor in the storm that is her life. Cruz – all alpha protective and completely helpless in the wake of Penna’s storm.

This is perfection you guys, plain and simple. I crazy loved it.

I’m not going to lie – I’m a little bit (sort of a lot) sad that there won’t be a Nick book. I feel like there’s a compelling and heart-wrenching story there – but I can live with the ending Ms. Yarros gave him in this book. All of the Renegades actually got endings that made my heart overflow with happiness for them. I loved this fiercely loyal little family. I loved that they squabbled like siblings, but stood by each other, no questions asked, time and time again. This series has been an incredible wild ride and I’m so glad to have been along for the journey.

The ending? Sublime. Really. So incredibly heartwarming and happy-making. I cried, I’ll admit it. Because it was so perfect for these characters, and so right for their stories. A nearly perfect series ending, the best kind of present (Christmas or otherwise) and I am 100% satisfied.
