This is an absolutely stunning piece of art! I loved the illustrations and the page layout as it gave a very interactive feel to the book. The story itself was also fantastic!

This book will be remembered long after you have read it to a child. The gentle illustrations set the tone of a fairy tale to connect us. A warm book that you want your students and your own children to read and emulate. We are all connected and random acts of kindness put forth our best self. Let's share more 'gifts' like this book with yourself, your family, your friends, and the world. Pimm Van Hest's drawings promote multicultural acceptance and tolerance for many ethnicities. Lovely.

'I Give You My Heart' by Pimm Hest with art by Sassafras Bruyn is a relective picture book with a beautiful story and pictures.

Young Yuto receives a special gift, and he is told that everything he needs is in the box. When Yuto is finally able to open this gift, he finds a seed. He plants the seed, with some advice about finding the right spot. With love anything can grow, he is told.

And time passes. Yuto grows up and so does the tree. When it is time, he knows what to do.

It's a beautiful story about making a life. Told in a way that is simple enough for the young to understand. I've been a fan of Sassafras Bruyn's illustration work, which is the main reason the tile caught my eye, and I was not disappointed. The pictures have a complexity to them that is not often seen in picture books. There is a lot to see and read in them.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Clavis Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

A beautiful folktale with the theme of love. The illustrations add to the story and are beautifully done.

This was an absolutely beautiful story about a tree and the meaning of life. The illustrations are beautiful, if half done in the galley I am reading. There are various pink lines and unfinished artwork, but what is there is gorgeous. However, please look again at the font. It is really small and hard to read on the darker backgrounds.

I Give You My Heart was a beautiful story about patience and fulfillment. The boy receives a very special gift from a shopkeeper with everything he will ever need. After years he is able to open the box. Through dreams he discovers what to do with the contents and then we see his life unfold through this special gift. This was a heartfelt story that would be a beautiful classroom read a loud.

I Give You My Heart is such a beautiful book First the artwork is absolutely gorgeous, add to that the beautiful story of a boy who receives a gift from an old man that literally changes his life. It's a beautiful modern fairy tale and both children and adults will love and treasure this story and share it friends and family. I believe it is the type of story that should be passed on to the children of the children who first get it and then pass it on to their kids as well. Author Pimm Van Hest and illustrator Sassafrass de Bryun created a new and entirely unique story. I hope to see more from them in the future.

After receiving a gift from an older man Yuto begins the task of opening it to discover what he had been given. The gift was something that needed to be planted and grown. As Yuto grows so does the gift--a tree, planted in a special place. The special place that his future begins to unfold. The future place where he is able to give another young boy the same gift.

Love grows within.

This was another sweet children's book--part of me wonders if some of the intention will be lost on a younger child. The illustrations are beautiful.

I am enchanted by this picture book. The poetic tale is beautiful. The words on the pages are surround by captivating images that signify a nurturing assurance 'when you give love you can grow anything' and 'you are never alone'. All the while depicting, being patient and opening ones heart, to the inevitable cycle of life and loss.

Young Yuto, is always in tune with the world around him.

"The sunlight tickled his eyelashes.
Yuto smiled but kept his eyes closed for just a while longer.
He opened his ears.
He listened."

On his way to school he notices a little shop he has never seen before and a being curious boy he decides to enter in. What he discovers inside changes his life forever. He is given a gift by a small old man, a simple box, that when opened offers him many life lessons. It provides Yuto with comfort, warmth and shelter all throughout his life. It is very special and destined to be passed on from generation to generation.

The illustrations are simply gorgeous and include laser cutouts that are stunning. This poetic fairytale will touch the hearts of all who read it. I highly recommend it.

Such a beautiful story! Both the pictures and the story are well done, and beautiful. The story is one of life, and knowing what's important. This story is enjoyable no matter your age, and parents and teachers can enjoy it right along with their children!

A little boy in what appears to be rural Japan finds a store on the way to school and zeros in on a wooden box. The owner gives it to him and then promptly disappears. The kid can’t get the box open until his seventh birthday, when he wakes up to find it ajar. Anything else would be spoiling, but it has to do with cycles of life and passing the torch from one generation to the next.
The artwork is kinda hard to describe; best I can come up with is muted watercolor, vaguely impressionistic but a little more lifelike than that. Sometimes I find it beautiful, others mundane. The only problem here is the incredibly tiny text.

Five stars for beautiful illustrations. But we'll pass on this one. A sweet story about a little boy who brings home a seed, a gift from an old man in an old shop (that disappeared the next day). At first, the boy was not able to open the box (this scenario gets repeated at the end of the book with another boy--but after a dream, the box was opened and the seed inside was planted. The seed grows into a large tree that comforts the boy throughout his life. The tree falls at the end of the story--but not without a seed being passed on to a new generation.

This book was beautiful, even in a digital version and without the aesthetic benefit of the cut outs. The story was very sweet and the illustrations were captivating.
