Tyler had been through some recent heartbreaking trauma when his best friend died in a fire. Now he had a need to protect others to compensate for losing him. Abbie had to be independent from trauma - when she was a teen and Abbi had been taken advantage of by a teacher that wrecked her self esteem. She also had a less than ideal view of what to expect from men. Abbi had survived the trauma from when she was a teen but she had never dealt with it, Tyler is a wildland firefighter but he is running from the memories of his best friend. Tyler takes a temporary job at Gold Mountain. He definitely knows about the devastation of a fire that gets out of control. He had needed to get away from L A to get his priorities straight. Tyler is there to help set up a firebreak to protect the town. Also having this successful venture on hso resume will mean some good prospects in the future.he wants to get in, get the job done and be on his way to to fire safety management somewhere else. Tyler is at a bar and Abbi’s best friend sends Tyler over to pretend to be Abbi’s new boyfriend. As Russ was Abbi ex boyfriend who was harassing her and planning to be involved with the construction of the firebreak. Now they have to learn to be a fake couple so russ will leave Abbi alone as he is still very possessive of her and hasn’t let go. Abbi decides her and tyler can spend the night together. But just that night. Abbi works at a local nature center and her job is to prevent the firebreak from being built. As it would destroy the habitat of some endangered animals. Abbi believes the firebreak is a waste of time and money. The next day Abbi is at work and Tyler shows up at her job as a consultant in the firebreak project that Abbi si determined to get cancelled. Abbi’s view on life, love and relationships with men are all influenced by the trauma she received as a teen. Abbi thinks the worst of anyone who tried to help her. Abbi fights her feeling for Tyler. Tyler saves Abbi’s life but she wasn't very grateful in her actions. I enjoyed this book. It was a quick, easy read but it was also emotional. With two people on opposite sides of an issue. Abbi made it clear Tyler she was only in it for the sex and wanted nothing more. I choked up at times while reading this book. I really enjoyed the suspense and action in this book. I felt bad for Tyler as well as Abbi for they pain they still carried form what had happened to them. Tyler and Abbi definitely had hot chemistry and II liked them together. I’m glad Tyler was patient but also determined to prove to Abbi he’s not like the other men she knew. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I recommend it. |
Tyler took a job at Gold Mountain, so he could run away from his previous life. A blazing forest fire changed everything and he's still dealing with his grief. In the local bar he helps Abbi, who's having troubles with a fling. The man doesn't want to leave her alone. Tyler and Abbi have an immediate connection. They give into their desire and have a little fun together, but they don't know they'll be seeing each other every single day. Tyler is supposed to lead the plans to create a fire break and Abbi is the one who'll do anything to stop this from happening. Will the fact that they stand on opposites sides destroy their attraction towards each other? Abbi is incredibly passionate about her job. She loves to be in the forest and knows everything there is to know about the wildlife. The only way she can get a promotion is to stop this fire break from happening. Abbi has been hurt in the past and she never fully got over what happened. She doesn't trust easily and finds it hard to open up her heart for love again. The only thing Tyler knows is to be useful towards others. He grew up trying to do anything to make his mother happy, so she wouldn't send him away. Will these two damaged people find love again? Abbi and Tyler haven't had an easy start in life. My heart ached for their damaged souls and I was hoping that they'd find the strength and courage to let love in. Make Me Want is a beautiful and heartwarming love story about two people learning to put their trust in love again. Tyler is a firefighter and Abbi is very much like fire, with her fierce and independent character. I loved the two of them together and I couldn't wait to find out if they'd find their happily ever after. Suze has been a fan of Rebecca Brooks's books for a long time and after reading Make Me Want I completely understand why. I loved the amazing chemistry between the main characters and think Rebecca Brooks has written a fantastic sizzling and sexy book. |
Make Me Want was a great read. This was the first book I've read of the Men of Gold Mountain & I'll be reading more. I'm a sucker for a hot fireman so of course I liked Tyler but it took me a bit to warm up to Abbi. She was a little "hard" but I came around. I look forward to reading more by Rebecca Brooks. Third in series. I found the characters conflict with one another interesting and obviously they figure things out. Good writing for this category. |
When Abbi needs to get rid of a pushy man Tyler helps her out. He pretends to be her boyfriend and they immediately have a connection. He's only in the area for a few weeks, so she thinks having some fun together would be harmless. However, Tyler is supposed to be working with Abbi on a project they're on opposite sides of. Will their differences at work mess things up for them on a personal level and what will happen when past and present become intertwined? Make Me Want is a sexy story with two strong, but damaged main characters. Abbi has been hurt by someone in her past and is still dealing with the consequences every day. It influences each relationship she has. Tyler wants to be there for her, but it's difficult for her to accept his help. Tyler went through something very traumatic and left everything he used to know behind for a fresh start. Being accepted and caring for someone is exactly what he needs. My heart ached for both of them. Abbi and Tyler keep having their differences and they seem to continuously take one step forward and two steps back. I couldn't wait to find out where that would lead and read their story in one sitting because of it. Make Me Want is hot because of two things, forest fires and sizzling attraction. I love the way Rebecca Brooks combines the two. Fire is a serious topic and she writes about it in an informative and sympathetic way. In her Men of Gold Mountain series she chooses to focus on different sides of what living in the area is like, which makes each story equally fascinating. Make Me Want is a sparkling, entertaining and captivating romance, it's a fantastic addition to the series. |
I voluntarily read this advanced readers copy of this book. Strong characters and a great story line. You will love reading about Abbi and Tyler's story. Her ex is causing problems so Tyler steps in to help. I think he gets more then he bargained for though. I so can't wait to back and read books one and two of this series. |
When one little lie gets spoken and everyone is believing it well Abbi and Tyler have to deal with it even if she did just want one night as well Abbi has a type and she can happily admit to it. I liked the storyline I liked the characters but il admit I did love hearing about the other characters. Overall an enjoyable read. |
This story is one of love/hate relationship so to speak. We have Abbi who's be taken advantage as a teen which has made her very hard to trust anyone. Tyler has lost his best friend in a raging fire so he chose to leave LA to come to Gold Mountain in order to supervise building of a firebreak and maybe find some peace of mind. When I started reading this story I had a feeling it was going to be a hit with how they met, how Tyler come to Abbi’s rescue…but the more I read the more I got agitated with Abbi. I get that she has legit reason to be closed off and not letting anyone near and I get that what happened to her was a shitty thing – but that was no excuse how she reacted when Tyler told her why he came to Gold Mountain or when he saved her life in the forest. The biggest eye roll was when she went to the court to testify and was thinking he didn't even contact her to see who she was – I mean HELLO you told him to get lost and forget that she even exists…but OK; if I look past this »problem« then this is a good book to read. The banter was funny (when Abbi didn’t try to push Tyler away), the side characters we good people who loved Abbi and at the end tried to help Tyler to win her back, the plot was not bad but was a little predictable. I wasn't all bad; just a few parts had me almost screaming out load :P ********Review copy requested and reviewed on behalf of OMGReads.*********** |
Abbi Haas is a woman determined to take care of herself. She doesn't need a man to come to her rescue like she's some sort of damsel in distress. However, when a possessive ex won't take no for an answer, Tyler McCall comes to her rescue claiming he's her boyfriend. But before their fake relationship can become real, Tyler finds out that Abbi could make trouble for his new job. Will they be able to find a way to get what they both want, or will their chance at happy ever after be impossible because they're on opposing sides? Although I haven't read the other books of this series, I found this story could easily be read as a stand-alone. It's also a story that I loved from start to finish and could not put down, not only because the book encompasses the fake relationship and enemy to lovers tropes, but because the obstacles these two had to overcome were tough. Such as the fact that Abbi won't let Tyler in when it comes to her past and Abbi doing everything she can to make things more difficult for Tyler when it comes to his job. Will Abbi ever tell Tyler anything about her past or will Tyler have to get creative in discovering what she wants to keep hidden? Will Abbi and Tyler find a way to get what they both want? The way this story started had me liking the hero immediately, as he's been through so much and needs time to come to terms with what happened to his best friend. However, it was from the moment that the hero did what he does for the heroine that had me wanting to discover more about the hero and how he would win the heroine over, especially after they discover their roles when it comes to them being on opposite sides of why Tyler is in town. Will Abbi be able to make Tyler see things from her point of view? As for the dialogue, it was compelling due to the main characters back stories, as they've been through so much in their pasts. I also loved how these two are on opposite sides and are determined to win, as both need to, if they're to have any chance to advance in their careers. Moreover, the heroine is resilient, courageous, fiercely independent and I liked how determined she was to get what she wanted. Then again, who could blame Abbi for wanting to do everything she can to protect the environment? While the hero, he's confident, very good at his job, and I liked how determined he was to win the heroine over, especially once he gets some sound advice from one of the secondary characters. I also liked that the hero was willing to do whatever it takes to protect the heroine from her ex when the man gets a little too assertive-aggressive likes he's about to completely lose it, if the heroine doesn't fall into line with what her ex wants. Overall, Ms. Brooks has delivered a really engaging and scorching read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was intense, the romance was extremely passionate, and the ending had me concerned for one of the main characters. Will they be all right? However, it was the hero's determination to win the heroine back that had me loving the hero more than I already did, because his way of doing things showed how much he cared and how far he was willing to go to show Abbi that she matters more to him than what brought him to town. I would recommend Make Me Want by Rebecca Brooks, if you enjoy the fake relationship trope, the enemy to lovers trope, or books by authors Joya Ryan, Cathryn Fox, Samanthe Beck and Gina L. Maxwell. |

I had mixed feelings about this book. The love-hate relationship between Abbi and Tyler was OK for me but when they constantly butting heads seemed rather redundant. Almost from the start by Tyler playing her fake boyfriend the whole thing spread out of control and their "relationship" takes on a life of its own. Tyler wants to build a firebreak and as a fireman he has seen the devastation wildfires can bring to a town without the firebreak. He lost his best friend and coworker to a fire just a few months previously. Abbi is a wildlife conservation is hell-bent on preventing the firebreak because she is worried about the indigenous species of plants and animals in the region. Abbi is fiercely independent which stems from an traumatizing incident that happened in her teens. Will Abbi learn to trust Tyler or will her demons still haunt her? Will two opposing people overcome their differences of opinion?

Make Me Want is another strong entry in the Men of Gold Mountain series. Abbi and Tyler are damaged souls who have a strong connection. They meet when he rescues her from an ex of Abbi's who's drunk and won't leave her alone. When Tyler, a stranger, comes to her rescue and pretends to be her new boyfriend, to scare off Russ, I was impressed, and so was Abbi. Soon they find themselves in a fake relationship turned real when their chemistry explodes. But, when they find themselves on opposite sides of the firebreak project Tyler's trying to get installed, can these two damaged people make a real relationship work? Like the previous 2 heroines in this series, Abbi was hard for me to connect to. I really felt for her, because she had a traumatic past. I admire her for her strength, but she wasn't very likable. Tyler, though, was awesome - sweet, dirty talking with a huge heart. Their communication skills were less than great and they butted heads A LOT. That's OK, because it just made for some interesting tension that you just knew was masking that smokin' chemistry. Make Me Want is a standalone, but I would advise you read the first two (Make Me Stay and Make Me Beg) also, though, because not only are they great stories, but they'll give you background on some of the secondary cast. If you like your romances with hot chemistry, strong, feisty heroines, and sweet, sexy heroes, Make Me Want should be on your TBR list. |
This is the third book in this series by this author. another amazing read, you are always guaranteed a fantastic story. This story has a very good plot and is quite emotional in places. The characters are well written and are very realistic. This book has plenty of well written hot and steamy scenes. This author has a fab way of sucking you into the story with interesting characters. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future. Highly recommended I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book |
I just loved Abbi and Tyler i enjoyed getting to know them and the chemistry was smoking hot, this is the third book in the series and i have enjoyed them all.Well written with fantastic characters i would recommend these books to all. |
Make me Want is book 3 in the Gold Mountain Series. I have not read her previous books but after reading this one I will be going back and reading them. Abbi and Tyler have a love hate relationship and clash from the start. Tyler has always had the need to protect others and its only intensified after losing his best friend. He's in town to help set up a fire break and show how to protect the town. Abbi is that strong character who needs her independence, partly because of something traumatic that happened in her teens. She works at the nature center and is dead set on preventing the fire break being built since it will end up destroying the habitats of some endangered species. The personality of both these characters are so opposite that it causes them to butt heads left and right. But that clashing also builds on the sexual tension. This read is suspenseful, action packed and intense from beginning to end. |
Make Me Want is intense. Tyler and Abbi start an intense relationship--physically intense, and though it starts out as "fake" it soon is anything but and becomes intense in a whole other way--they're both hiding very intense events in their past from each other, and oh my gosh, they both live through an unbelievably intense event together just before everything falls apart for them. Honestly, I went into this one expecting...well, pretty much what you's be expecting, given that cover...and found out that there is so much more between those covers. What I especially liked here is that both Tyler and Abbi let their issues get in their way, they both let them negatively impact their relationship, they both took an active part in their black moment, and they both put work into getting back together by each realizing what they were doing to sabotage things and worked to repair their own problems in order to go forward together. There was a greater sense of equal responsibility in their relationship than is often seen, and I really liked that. Plus, these two were incredibly hot together, even if they do have a tendency to get busy in the great out of doors, where everyone knows there's spiders. [shudder] ;) Make Me Want is the third book in the series, but works just fine as a standalone. Rating: 4 stars / B+ I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book |
Make Me Want is the third story in Rebecca Brooks Men of Gold Mountain series. I've enjoyed the previous two stories I've read (Make Me Beg is a particular favorite) so I was looking forward to this one. From the start the two characters clash, but in that way that makes you know the chemistry between them is going to be too hard to resist! Abbi and Tyler start out as odds because of their competing job interests. Tyler is in Gold Mountain to help set up a firebreak to protect the town. As a wildfire firefighter, he's seen the devastating effects of a fire that gets out of control, with the loss of his best friend a few months earlier. He needs this time away from L.A. to get his priorities straight, and having this successful venture on his resume will mean some good job prospects in the future. It's a temporary assignment, one he'd been hoping he'd pull off without any hitches, until meeting Abbi. Abbi works at the local nature center and her job is to prevent the firebreak from being built, as it will destroy the habitat of some local endangered species. She believes the firebreak is a waste of time and money and won't actually protect the people of Gold Mountain in the area where the Forest Service wants to build it anyway. The problem is that Tyler intervened in a situation where Abbi was being harassed by an ex-boyfriend (a man planning to be involved in construction of the firebreak) and pretended to be her new one. Now they have to navigate a fake relationship, while both trying to best the other in a game of one-upmanship where someones is going to lose - and might just ruin the best thing both of them have ever had. There's no doubt that Abbi and Tyler have lots of chemistry! They share some sexy scenes together, though Abbi makes it clear that she's in it for the sex only, and isn't looking for more. She was taken advantage of as a teen by a teacher, a relationship that wrecked her self-esteem and gave her a less than ideal view of what to expect from the male species. She's stubborn and feisty and fights her feelings for Tyler every step of the way. Fortunately Tyler has the patience to see things through and prove to Abbi that he's not like the other guys she's known. Though he initially planned to get in and get out, his growing feelings for Abbi make him gives his future career some second thoughts. Couple their complicated and growing feelings for each other with Abbi's ex, who just won't go away, and a suspenseful and action packed second half of the story and you've got an entertaining and intense read! Two wounded hearts collide in what is just supposed to be a quick dash of fun, but neither can resist the magnetic pull towards each other when life keeps bringing them together! Rebecca Brooks always brings us a sexy read filled with passion, angst and a fun group of characters. Always a joy to return to Gold Mountain and see what they have in store for us this time. Wildland firefighter Tyler McCall is running away from memories he can't handle right now and has taken a temporary job in Gold Mountain, Washington. He's got his sights set on getting in, doing the job and getting out with the lead on a future job to head for immediately afterward. His priorities just might change when he gets set up for a short-lived rescue of a damsel in distress at the local pub ... and ends up ready to hook-up with her before the night is out! Abbi Haas doesn't need any man to rescue her, but when the hottie that her BFF sends over to ruffle her exes feathers turns out to be smokin', she's willing to take him for a ride before she sends him on his merry way too ... only her best of intentions are thrown for a loop when he shows up at her job the next day as a consultant in the project she's determined to cancel before it gets off the ground! |

**3.5 Stars** Abbi has a type, she can admit it, and she prefers them gone the next morning with as little fuss as possible. However, she's currently dealing with an ex, a possessive one, that obviously has trouble letting go. When a sexy firefighter steps in, pretending to be her boyfriend, she rolls with it, and later thoroughly enjoys the explosive sex that follows. Tyler isn't exactly following the decree to avoid danger while dealing with the loss of his best friend a few months prior when he begins his ruse to rescue the gorgeous woman, but he can't resist helping, nor acting on their mutual attraction. However, though they are definitely in agreement sexually, the same can't be said professionally as they're on opposing sides of a proposed firebreak. Their viewpoints make their newfound fake relationship shaky as they continue the charade due to Abbi's ex. Though Abbi only does temporary, and Tyler was in agreement as he'll be returning home soon, what was once fake is suddenly becoming all too real. Can Tyler and Abbi overcome not only their differences, but also the demons they both struggle with? Will Abbi learn to trust Tyler, a difficult task considering what she experienced as a teenager? If the firebreak is approved, what will that mean for Abbi's job? What happens when Tyler's time in Gold Mountain is over? Will Abbi's ex finally get the hint and leave her alone? Will Tyler find peace in regards to his loss? Can these two have a HEA? One-click now and follow along as two people on opposing sides discover something else worth fighting for as well. **I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.** |
