I really enjoyed this devotional. It was so encouraging and most mornings, it had exactly what I needed to hear for that day. It's amazing how God works that out! This book would make a great gift for any woman looking for a fresh word from God.

Priscilla has a readable writing style, which this book stays true too. Many still benefit from her words of wisdom.

Another beautiful devotional book by Pricilla. This is a book to keep and refer back to.

Choosing is different than choosing a book to read. This kind of reading is not for reading enjoyment or pleasure, it’s for listening to hear from God, something to pray over.
Once again choosing a devotional is a personal thing, and I believe that this one is a front-runner. We all know Priscilla Shrirer through her Bible studies and her role in War Room.
This devotional will be a disappointment. I was thrilled with this devotional. Priscilla sits you down over 90 days and helps you meditate on a verse and she really makes you reflect about what was read. She has a unique way of explaining and illustrating the verse so you can absolutely understand what is written and how it applies to your life. You can really hear what God wants you to hear. I also love that Priscilla encourages you to journal and put your own thoughts down at the end of every devotional.
These devotionals will encourage you, challenge you and transform you.
My favorite one and the one that spoke to me was on day 60, Quiet but not so quiet. This encouraged me to sit down and find time with God no matter what circumstances are going on around me.

Highly recommended, well written and easy to read, this is one book that will always be open and read on my desk.

I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own. This book is just what I wanted. A devotional for a grown up. A deep dive into my faith. I have found each day to meet me just where I am and leave me learning something new. Or being reminded of a truth I had forgotten.

The writing is beautiful and vivid. I read through my digital copy as though it was a book and I've asked for a physical copy for my b'day this month. I can't wait to really jump into this and spend a full 90 days being awakened to what God wants for my life.

One thing I loved about these daily devotions is that day 30 is just as well thought out and written as day 1 and day 90. I've found a lot of devotionals will have a handful of really good days scattered with fluff to just take up space. This book isn't that way at all!

Priscilla is a teacher who I've enjoyed sitting under in previous studies and whose writing style I really enjoy.

I love the layout of this devotional and the ease it presents for the reader. It's a 90 day devotional, where each day is set up in two parts. First, is the devotional - one page, front and back, of reflection and scripture that Priscilla said she pulled from her own spiral notebooks. The second part is one page, front and back, to journal what that day is teaching or guiding you. It's approachable, which I love!

I definitely recommend checking this devotional out for you or a loved one. I think it would make a great gift!

Our library does not typically buy devotionals because people tend to keep them until they are completed. I would recommend this to Ladies Bible study groups. This makes a wonderful study to feed your soul. Highly recommended!

Oh Priscilla Shirer, how I love everything you have written (that I have read, that is). Your amazing books never disappoint. I am the worlds worst at sticking to a devotional and I was determined to do this one all the way through. There were even some days that I did two or three devotionals because I did not want to stop!

The daily devotions are not long but they make you think. I can't wait to go out and purchase the actual book so that I can underline and highlight the things I did in this ebook version I received.

What I love most is that these devotional are straight from Priscilla's own 'whispers' from God into her life.

This one is HIGHLY recommended!!!!

Thanks to NetGalley, B&H Publishing Group, and Priscilla Shirer for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Awaken: 90 Days with the God Who Speaks by Priscilla Shirer is the author’s first devotional. This is the first book that I have read from this author and I am so glad I picked it up. With most devotionals, I start eagerly reading and then have difficulty finishing. With this book, I cannot wait to get back and read more. Priscilla Shirer wrote this book so beautifully that each short entry is quite simple, profound, and incredibly sincere. Although brief, you will find yourself still pondering her words much later. I highly recommend this devotional as one to savor and enjoy over time. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Not your typical devotional book...

Priscilla Shirer delivers a masterful grasp of Scripture and our need to daily feast on the words of life. She provides gems to ponder that can shift our thinking and create life change. Daily entries are brief yet give points to ponder throughout the day. There is plenty of room to write your own thoughts with a few additional verses for further reading on the topic. These devotional entries are deeper and more insightful than most.

Today I am reviewing —

“Awaken”(90 Days with the God who speaks) by Priscilla Shirer.

This is a devotional with 90 short devotions. I loved reading this book!

The devotions are short, but packed with encouraging insights. Each devotion ends with Scripture and a question about your life or about your own relationship with God. After each question, there is room for you to write your answer inside the book. Since I have a Kindle version, my answers are in a separate notebook. Because of this you may want to buy the print version of the book.

Priscilla says that she wrote this book now, because she felt she had enough life experience as a Christian to write with some wisdom and depth. She surely did that! I highlighted a lot in this book! There is so much good advice. She is writing from her own life and revealing what has been helpful to her.

Priscilla also points out useful Scripture verses. I need to memorize some of those! How about this one? – Elisha’s prayer in 2 Kings 6:17 is “Lord, please open his eyes and let him see.” I can pray this for someone else, but I can also pray this for myself. Please open my eyes and let me see! I want to see God working through the people around me, and I want to see where I can step in and be helpful.

Here is another Scripture that would be good to memorize: “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:32) Most of us have someone we need to forgive. I know I do!

I will definitely be following up on some of the things Priscilla suggests we do to get direction from God and to stay on the right path.

One way to read this book is to read one devotion each day and answer the questions, then pray for God to show you how to apply it in your day or week. If you have some days with more time available and other days too busy, you could read several devotions in one day, answering the questions that are easy for you, then return to the harder questions later, after taking time to think about them throughout the day. I chose to read through the whole thing fairly quickly without answering the questions, and then go back and read more slowly, taking the time to answer each question.

Whichever way you read this book, challenge yourself to answer each question. Answering the questions will “Awaken” you to how God is working in your life, and how you can include Him in your everyday life.

As Priscilla says, God is always there in your prayer times, in His Word, and in your heart. Just open your eyes and see!

I tend to like in depth Bible study so I don't do many daily devotional type of books. But I have done several of Priscilla's Bible studies and decided that I'd give this one a try. So glad that I did. I know it's cliche to say that I was hooked from the beginning, but I was. The very first daily devotion is still resonating with me weeks later.

The set-up of the book is simple. There are ninety different devotions that start with a small portion of scripture and then follow with thoughts by Priscilla. Then there are questions to contemplate and and area to journal your thoughts if you desire.

As I said earlier I'm not usually drawn to this type of reading but I liked Priscilla's style in this. She presented each day's reading in a way that made you contemplate what it means in your life. The stories are hers but the situations are common to women so it was very easy to relate to the readings.

I thought that this would be a great morning and evening reading. It would also make a great gift to a friend. I thought it would be especially nice for that young mother that doesn't have gobs of time to do in depth Bible study but desires to stay in the Word amid the chaos of raising young children. Whether you decide to give it as a gift or use it yourself, I'm pretty sure that you won't be disappointed.

I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

I'm not really much of a "devotional book" person, but this one stood out to me as being quite useful. Priscilla achieves an admirable balance between being kind and being direct. Her words have meat to them, not just more Christian fluff. My favorite parts were the "He Speaks To Me" sections after each devotional. The questions are apt and challenging, without seeming insurmountable. She points the reader to listen to God for him or herself while providing helpful, specific promptings.

A wonderful devotional book and a fantastic way to start each day. The author is new to me but I will be checking out her other books!

I’ve read a few books by Priscilla Shirer, and I have never been disappointed. Her books always seem to tell me exactly what I need to hear at that moment. This book is no exception.

Awaken contains ninety devotions, and each day includes a verse, devotional passage, another verse, and a place for reflection. I read an electronic copy, but I look forward to getting a hard copy so I can fully engage with the journaling portions of the book.

As a fan of devotional books, this one is a wonderful addition to my collection. Shirer writes in a way that is easy to understand, and her personal stories are easy relatable.

Some of my favorite quotes include:

-“Be alert. Be present. Be fully engaged in the day stretched out before you. He’ll be there. Waiting to be seen by anyone watching and waiting.”

-“The quest for perfection will always be beyond our grasp. Unattainable in time and space. So we’ll need to look elsewhere. We’ll need to look upward.”

-“Allow life’s imperfections to become what they were always meant to be—everyday signs that point you to Jesus.”

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. However, I was not required to leave a positive review.

If you’re listening for God to speak to you, this devotional book is for you. If you’re in need of something more, this devotional book is for you. If you are ready for your soul to be awakened, this is THE book for you.

Start off your day with this book and you will find your spirit changing. It’s been a while since I’ve used a devotional book and this is exactly the one I needed to get me back into the habit. This book enriched me in two ways - by starting my day off right spending time with Him and with the encouragement and challenges that Shirer sets out for readers which strengthened my relationship with God.

Each day brings inspired words, a few verses, and room to journal your thoughts on the days reading or answer the question that Shirer sets out for you. Reading these devotions first thing in the morning are the best idea as they give you lots to think on as you go about your day. Shirer is someone who understands that the best of us struggle, and she has her finger on the pulse of what we need each and every day. She shares lessons that we all need to learn, never shying away from the tough stuff but doing so with grace, love, and tenderness.

As someone who has let a lot of distance come between her and God, this book has closed the gap. It was exactly what I needed.

This devotional is a must have! For me to be the best I can be, I must start my morning by being in His presence. This devotional just takes a couple of minutes of your time, but everyday has something that has spoken to my heart. The journaling section is great to record your thoughts or struggles and then be able to go back and see how He has worked and brought you through whatever struggle you are facing. This devotional is what I will be giving to friends and family for the holidays.

This is not your average devotional. I was encouraged, strengthened, and stretched. Of course there is a devotional and scripture but at the end of each day is more scripture related to that day with journaling prompts to push you deeper. I recommend this to anyone needing to go the extra mile to build that relationship or anyone just wanting more !!!
