Fun Christmas story. Good ro recommend to patrons who want to get into the spirit of Christmas |
Cole gets the surprise of his life when two twin babies show up on his front door. Unsure who would've dropped the babies off in his care leaves him thinking that trip Stacy went on a few months ago could've hidden this secret. Meanwhile its been a few months since Stacy was back to her hometown and the the babies and shes coming around might be a coincidence but Cole is not sure. You know what I really enjoyed this book. I've come across many books with similar plot and sometimes this topic has been overdone where its almost like hearing the same story over but this author managed to make this books story line unique and interesting enough to keep me wanting more. I enjoyed the characters. I loved how the two main characters were able to deal with certain situations that came their way and how they were able to work together looking past old troubles. Overall I thought that this book was an enjoyable read. |

Cole McCullough is working part time at The Healing Ranch, the horse ranch run by his friends Jackson and Garrett White Eagle as a last chance before incarceration for troubled boys, and part time with his brother Connor on the family ranch. But neither of these jobs is Cole’s calling. With his three siblings having found their purpose, Cole is wondering what he wants to do with his life. His focus shifts abruptly one morning when twins, about three or four weeks old, are left on his doorstep. The White Eagles question if Cole is the father, a possibility he denies. Another possibility is that since brother Cody delivered the baby of Devon Bennett, now his wife (The Cowboy and the Baby) and sister Cassidy rescued a baby from the river (The Rancher and the Baby), the McCulloughs have just gained the reputation of being good with babies. But with Stacy Rowe, who left town without saying goodbye eight months ago, back in Forever, Cole begins to wonder if he might be the father after all. Stacy left town when she became convinced that Cole did not return her feelings. Her Aunt Kate, convinced that a change of scenery was the best cure for Stacy’s broken heart, took her niece on an extended European vacation. But Aunt Kate died on the trip, and Stacy had to return to settle her affairs. Finding that her house had been destroyed by fire during her absence, she takes a room at the hotel. She is volunteered to help care for the twins from their first visit to the medical clinic, and when Connor McCullough offers her a room in exchange for caring for them in the McCullough home, she agrees. Soon she and Cole are caring for the babies together and falling in love again. Can they move past the misunderstandings of the past to become a family of four? And who is the twins’ mother? Twins on the Doorstep is the seventeenth book in Marie Ferrarella’s Forever, Texas series. Typical of this popular and prolific author’s short category romances, it is a slight story with a sweet romance and an emphasis on family dynamics. The McCulloughs are an appealing family. Stacy may be less sympathetic initially, but her sad history and her devotion to the twins should win readers over quickly. Forever is filled with stout hearts and amiable eccentrics who will please those who have an affection for the small-town subgenre. If you have enjoyed Ferrarella’s book in the past or if you like shorter stories, Western settings, and simple conflict in your romance, you should find this one an enjoyable read. Although it is connected to the other books in the McCullough subset, it can be read easily as a standalone. For those hooked on the larger series or on the McCullough family, Connor McCullough’s story will be released December 1. The title? A Baby for Christmas. |
A cute and delightfully entertaining story, it was just what I needed to take my mind away for a couple of hours without much angst or turbulence. What we have here is a failure to communicate by two young people in the beginning steps of a relationship. Eight months later they face each other again with two babies in their hands, and they have a chance to learn to trust, learn to open up to each other, learn to work as a team, and most importantly - learn to communicate with each other. Because the chemistry is there, the old feelings are obviously there, and the connection between Cole McCullough and Stacy Rowe is tangible. It is not an easy road, or an instant one, either. It takes few weeks, lots hours with the babies, bickering, arguments, good meals, family time, illness, and taking that brave step to be vulnerable, to be honest with each other, and taking the leap without looking back to build something that is worthwhile to hold on to. Cole is feeling restless with his life, without direction, when he finds the twins on his doorstep. I liked Cole immediately, his sense of humor, his sense of responsibility and respect towards people around him. He seems like a good guy, decent, kind, and considerate. Stacy had run away, sort of, eight months ago, to Europe with her aunt. Upon her arrival at home, after losing her aunt, she finds out she has lost her home as well. At the loose ends, with no immediate plans, she is the perfect person to take care of the mystery twins while their parents are being searched for. Stacy is a stubborn, strong-willed lady. She has spark and bite, yet she has a sense of responsibility, kindness, and good will to accept the duty to take care of the twins. If only she would dare to open up to Cole, to hear him out about the past mistakes, and see what is right in front of her, and things might turn out differently. The smalltown charm is thick in the tale. I loved the strong matronly characters in the town taking charge and guiding the way for the rest of the folks. The story is filled with moments that made me smile, the little twins are sure to charm anyone, and there is a spark with all the sweet to heat up the romance. An enjoyable tale to sweep you away for an evening ~ Four Spoons |
Sweet story and likable characters but I didn't feel that sizzling chemistry & deep bond that I tend to lean towards in my romances, otherwise this is a very enjoyable read. |
Review by Estella for Love Romance Books Blog I was asked by the author for an honest review. Cole McCullough woke up to twins on his doorstep. He has no idea where they came from. Everyone at the Healing Ranch and Cole, himself, think they may be his. Stacy Rowe is the only woman that g=has been close enough to Cole. Stacy says they aren't hers but she is willing to help with them. This story was well written and it has well developed characters. It is very relatable and a cozy book. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from this author. |

When you’re in love with someone knowing how and when to add the sexual component to the relationship is always a sticky situation. Even in middle America, the urge to be together is there.
That is exactly what happened with Stacy Rowe and Cole McCullough. Yet, after professing her love in the greatest way she could by giving all of herself to Cole he says, that maybe things were moving too quickly. That they should slow down before it was too late. For her, it was already too late. What more did she have to give? She had already given it to him. The man she had loved for as long as she could remember and he was telling her that he wasn’t ready. They were almost thirty.
She felt like an idiot. She thought they had been on the same page and felt the same way about each other. Well, now she knew that she was wrong. She had given him her heart and her body and he tossed her gift aside giving her words that to her ears said, “It was fun. Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on your way out.”
So, when her aunt heard her crying she put two and two together. She decided to take Stacy to Europe the next day for the trip of their lives. It was for her aunt Kate, you see she passed away on the last leg of their eight-month journey.
Stacy had sworn never to return to Forever but due to her aunt’s final instructions when she fell ill was to come home cremate her and to hear her will. She returns to find out her childhood home burned down while away. She’d have no luck if not bad luck.
However, the new hotel that was built while away had a room. The next morning, she got a job by accident and while running a breakfast run for her manager she runs into Cole who found a set of twins. Who she has been ordered to help Cole for the day with the babies, by the owner of the restaurant. All she can think is killing me now.
What she can’t understand is why Cole is acting like he missed her and like nothing even happened between them. Cole, on the other hand, is finding it odd that these babies were left on his doorstep at Healing Ranch. At the same time, Stacy returns eight months after they made love to each other. Are these their children? He’s freaking out.
See how these two resolve their past issues, see who abandoned two beautiful babies, and see how a family can work together to make a home for lost souls two small ones and one not so small.
This was very enjoyable. Once again, the author has characters with humor and strength. Yet, most of all a sense of family honor. I give this book: 5 stars. Provided by netgalley.com. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com.

A second chance romance book is not one I can just ignore. Plus, with babies in the mix - I love it. When I read the book, I was surprised of the hints of couples, whom I guess also have their own books. Which is why I'm going to be looking for those cause this one was so good. I really liked this book. I wish it's somehow longer cause I guess some parts were just too short that I wanted to savor it. Anyway, our hero here, unlike other Harlequin books, is a gentleman and really has done nothing wrong. But I guess he did something bad in the past, but it was only expressed a little here in the book - which I think is a huge plus. I do hate flashbacks where the couples usually screwed up, and we were saved that in this book. But in present time, he really did nothing wrong. He literally saves two babies and gives them a home, which is so heartwarming. The romance was not as steamy and not that electric, but still very romantic. |

When cowboy Cole McCullough opens his door to find twin infants in a basket on the stoop, he is flabbergasted. When he takes them into town to the health clinic....he sees his ex Stacy Rowe...who walked away from him eight months before, leaving him to wonder if the twins belong to them. Stacy Rowe walked away from the love of her life when it seemed to her, that he did not feel the same. To avoid separating the twins, the work together with his family and the town folk to care for them and to search for their mother, falling deeper in love. They soon talk about the past and work out their misunderstanding to create a permanent home for the twins. I requested and received a NetGalley ARC to peruse. |
