I loved it. Shirley McCoy is an awesome author who knows how to write a story. When i see a new story coming from her i can't wait to get my hands on it! I'm so glad that she writes christian suspense.

Christmas on the Run stars off with a very suspenseful beginning. I was drawn into the story immediately and found it fascinating how the heroine had never met her brother-in-law, but he ended up being the only person she could turn to for help.

I really loved Dallas as a character. He was brave and, even though he had reasons to be angry with her, he right away was willing to drop everything and help. Her son was also adorable and I loved a certain scene in the story. ;)

All in all, Christmas on the Run was enjoyable and I recommend it. I read this book in a couple hours and never found myself bored.

Carly Kelly is a museum conservator at the Smithsonian, when blackmailers ask to forge antique stones, and threaten to take her 6 yr old son, Zane, she reaches out to her late husband's ex-military half-brother, and member of HEART, for help.

Dallas Morgan has noticed Carly running by his house every morning on her daily jog, he's never spoken to her before so when he approaches her, she runs. When she get's home her son is nowhere to be found, but Dallas has experience with threats and hostage situations, and he calls in all of his connections to help get Zane back.

I liked that Carly's best friend, Jazz, moved in to help her with Zane after the death of Carly's husband, and she does everything she can to try to prevent the bad guys from taking Zane.

I love that Dallas get's a chance to connect with the nephew that he didn't know that he had, but it also reminds him of what he lost. He is a rock for Carly, so she doesn't have to go through everything alone.

Carly is a headstrong and protective mother, she doesn't want to sit on the sidelines while others do the work, she wants to help where she can to get her boy back in her arms. As she get's to know Dallas she wonders if she has been given a second chance that she didn't even know that she wanted.

Fast paced, with a heart pounding mystery, fraught with tension, and surprise twists. Definitely a great addition to the HEART series!

Carly cuts gemstones and is a master at what she does which seems to have caught the eye of some men who are willing to blackmail her into doing what they want. Unwilling to do what they have asked they have threaten to take her child. Without anyone to turn to shes goes to her brother in law who doesn't even know she or her son exists but will do everything he can to protect them.

If you are looking for a great mystery book that packs a punch in a short amount of time then this book is for you. I managed to devours this book in a short couple of hours which is perfect for those readers who are pressed for time and still looking for a great book that wont take forever to finish. I loved that there was plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting and seeing that connection form between Carly and Dallas. Plus the setting of this book is during christmas time and if your anything like me your going to want to read this book during that time as well. Overall a really great book highly recommend!

There is nothing like family to bring trouble to your door. Dallas didn't even know his late brother had a kid. When Carly drops that bombshell on him, there are also bullets flying and he has trouble believing it. Carly's frantic worrying about her son. Whoever has been threatening her to get her to do the work is after them.
I loved that this book didn't slow down. The characters were great. Carly is a wonderful mom and wishes Dallas was more like her late husband so she wouldn't like him. That part was both sad and funny. I didn't like the best friend/roommates fiance at all. The best friend though, we could all use one like her. She was tough but so kind at the same time. Dallas played the knight in shining armor well and I liked his team!
It was a 5/5 for me. I want to read more in this series!

An engaging and energetic romantic suspense story that captivated my mind. It was a great read for a rainy evening with the entertaining plot with plenty of twists. The suspense kept the intensity high, the romance was alluring yet sweet, and little Zane, he was just too cute and endearing, saying the funniest things to make you smile.
Carly Rose Kelley was a strong female lead. She knows who she is, what she wants, what she is good at, and where she needs help with and how to go about getting the help. She learned the hard way to stand on her own, but she does it beautifully while raising her son. Her late husband taught her not to trust men, not to count on other's word, not to rely on anyone. Could it be possible that his brother would be the person to teach her to trust again?
Dallas Morgan grew up in a rough environment and getting adopted with his brother to a good, loving, Christian home was something he would always be thankful for. His losses in life were still sore in his soul, but he was getting on with life, making his mark after finding his place with HEART.
The connection between Carly and Dallas was instant yet believable. It had time to grow while the investigation was developing, giving the relationship depth and sincerity. The attraction between them is palpable and even with all the tension, threats, and danger lurking around, they were rather adorable with the budding feelings festering inside their hearts and minds.
Little Zane and Jazz made great secondary characters and deserve a mention. I wish that one day soon after she is healed, Jazz would find a true love as well.
Even though their faith in God is evident in the few thoughts and quick prayers across the story, it has by no means a center stage in the tale, nor is it talked about or gotten into in depth.
A compelling tale with appealing, charming characters with interesting life stories and heartbreaking destinies mixed in a life-threatening situation with thrilling, high-speed action and puzzling motives.

This is book 8 in the Mission: Rescue series, however it is a stand alone book. You will probably notice it is written in a way that could be part of a series yet you do not have to read any of the previous books to keep up and understand what is happening in this one.

This novel is full of mystery, suspense, love, and romance. McCoy does an excellent job at grabbing and keeping your attention. There are a few twist and turns and her dialogue is written wonderfully. You feel a part of the action.

Carly Kelley has found herself in need of help, since she has taken care of herself and her son for so many years she is not sure how to get the help she needs, nor how to respond to it. When she feels she must rely on the only person that is somewhat family, will she be able to let him keep her and her young son safe?

Dallas Morgan, which I fell in love with by the way, is struggling with physical and emotional healing. When he realizes who Carly and her son are will he be able to heal and help?

Dallas and Carly must learn to trust one another and stay one step ahead of the enemy.

Review of Christmas on the Run by Shirlee McCoy.
I really could not decide if I liked Carly or not. I was impressed with her planning skills to get to Dallas and her career was interesting as a gemstone cutter. However she made several Stupid decisions.
Zane, her son, was absolutely adorable. When he came out in his Spider-Man outfit I was smitten. The author created an adorable young man. He almost stole the show from Dallas. Dallas was the perfect hero. He had his own memories he was fighting during the holidays that seeing Zane intensified. Dallas was so strong mentally and physically. I appreciated how he would be so calm under pressure. All of the HEART men are special. I still have a soft spot for Boone.
Dallas was an example that character overcomes a bad childhood and bad experiences. Which was also what I liked about Carly. She knew she was not going to agree to the blackmail so she was trying to find a way to protect her son and not succumb to their demands. I loved the ending. Again it shows how special Dallas is.

This is a McCoy mystery, the best in a while, actually. I'm calling this a mystery because there was little romance in it.

Carly is a widowed mother who is being threatened. Someone says he will kill her son unless she does exactly as he says. Dallas is the brother-in-law that shes never met, but she turns to him for help.

The book is thoroughly enjoyable though there are some plot points that fall to the side and are unaddressed. This doesn't interfere with the story, but does leave the reader wondering after the story is over.

I always enjoy Shirlee's books. This is no exception. I will be happy to recommend to my customers.

This has been a very entertaining read; it had romance, light suspense, a bit of mystery, and even some Christmas. I want to clarify that this is not exactly a Christmas book (as you may think from the title), but if you are in search for some romance and action during the holidays, this is a great choice.

"Christmas on the Run" is a Christian suspense novel. It's the eighth book in a series, but it works as a stand-alone novel. The characters were surprised when they discovered the person ultimately behind the jewelry scheme, but I wasn't, though I think it was meant to be unexpected. I even wondered why they didn't checked up on that person more. Still, suspense novels are about staying alive while stopping the bad guys, not about whodunit.

The characters were nice people. Carly struggled with following Dallas' orders (that were meant to keep her and her son safe) since she's used to doing things her way. But she did ask for help, so she tried to trust and cooperate. Dallas struggled with his grief over losing his family around this time of year some years back--children that would have been about the age of Carly's son. The suspense was the physical danger to everyone and Carly and Dallas's emotional turmoil over their attraction to each other.

The Christian element was learning to accept that God is Sovereign even when things don't go the way we'd handle things. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense novel.
