Publisher's Description: To the north of the Varis empire, a mysterious faction spreads propaganda against the vampire monarchy. Friedrich Volya, the Duke of Winter Hill, seeks to discover who they are before his uncle finds them first. King Dominik will punish the traitors with brutal force. Local schoolteacher, the raven-haired Brennalyn, is on her own mission—to spy on the duke and discover what she can for the Black Lily. She longs to help the commonwealth and bring justice to the many orphans left behind from the ravages of the blood madness, like the children she lovingly keeps in her care. What she doesn’t plan for is the heart-pounding attraction she feels for the duke, enemy to the Black Lily. But when Brennalyn’s secret puts her life and the life of her children in danger, Friedrich steps in as her protector, she finds out there’s more to the duke than she thought. My Thoughts: So far in this series we have had fairytale takes on Cinderella, Red Riding Hood and now Snow White. This newest book of this series is lightly based on Snow White. Instead of seven dwarfs we have seven orphaned children, the most endearing one to me is Izzy who we have already met briefly in one of the prior books. She is a star and a scene stealer with her speech impediment. and her trusting nature. Friedrich Volya, the Duke of Winter Hill is not like his father before him or his cruel uncle. He actually sides with the faction of the Black Lily, fully supporting their cause. Local schoolteacher, Brennalyn is trying very hard to discover what she can for the Black Lily. She has no idea that Friedrich, a Vampire Duke, is also on their side, after all aren't almost all Vampires their enemy. After they discover that they have the cause of the Black Lily in common will these two prior enemies come together and profess their love and devotion to not only their mutual cause but each other? I gave this third book in this series 4.75 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development and a high sensual rating of 4.5 of 5.0 flames. The intimacy between this hero and heroine literally burns. This wonderfully written book is a page turner and one for the keeper shelves. I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley to read. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily. |
One of the most erotic reads from the Vampire Blood series thus far! Snow won’t be the only thing melting in The White Lily. The saga continues with the school teacher (and sometime spy for the rebellion) Brennalyn. The fair lady and mother of orphans will do her duty to see justice for those she claims as her own. There is just one devastatingly irritating, yet irresistible flaw in her plan. The Duke of Winter Hill, Friedrich Volya. The Duke is no fool. He sees the lovely raven haired beauty plotting along. Little does she know, though, he wants to help her– in more ways than she can possibly imagine. I kept a perpetual smile while reading. The White Lily is a dangerously flirty fun filled with the most exquisite sexual tension. The outlying plotline took a backseat in book three to allow the coupling of Brennalyn and Friedrich to take center stage. The only “spoiler-ish” thing I am willing to say is that I am reminded of the infamous chapter 32 in the Kresley Cole IAD series. (((SO HOT))) I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, each book from Juliette Cross seems to be better than the last. She is an author on the rise and taking the PNR world by the throat with her vampire crew. Well written and perfectly executed, her books are an automatic-one-click purchase. Nothing but five-star love! ~Tanja |
The White Lily is book three in the Vampire Blood series by Juliette Cross. Most know that I am a huge fan of Juliette’s writing. I have been since the very first book. Each book she has written has captured me within it’s pages. But there is something special about this series. Something that I’m not sure I can describe. And each book just keeps getting better and better. This one is a very loose retelling of the fairy tale, Snow White. Of all the characters I have met so far in this series, I think Brennalyn and Friedrich have stolen my heart the most. Brennalyn (Brenna) Snow is a school teacher. She is also mother to seven orphaned children that will steal your heart. Brennalyn wants with all her heart to aid in the rebellion against the vampire aristocracy that rules over the human peasants. The rebellion is called The Black Lily. So Brennalyn has been printing up flyers and distributing them all on her own and signing them The White Lily. Brenna is convinced that the nearby Duke of Winter Hill, Friedrich Volya, who is nephew to the evil King Dominik, could be a source of information. So she’s been visiting Winter Hill and trying to gain information from her friend that works there. Unbeknownst to Brenna, Friedrich is on to her and has been watching the raven haired beauty. Friedrich knows about the pamphlets that have been turning up as of late. He needs to find out who is printing them before his Uncle does. King Dominic has some very special punishments for traitors. When Friedrich and Brenna come face to face, the attraction is strong. But Brenna is here for only one reason, to help The Black Lily. Brenna has been hurt badly in the past and she has vowed to never give her heart again. She has seven children who depend on her and a coming war she is determined to help with. She will not give in to this handsome Duke, no matter how badly she wants to. Friedrich has never allowed himself to harbor feelings for any woman, vampire or human. But something about the beautiful Brenna has captured his heart and won’t let go. “She was his addiction, his obsession, his all-consuming weakness.” The bond grows stronger between Friedrich and Brenna. I want to warn you that this vampire will melt your heart. He is determined to win Brenna‘s trust. But time is not something they will have to explore their feelings for each other. Danger has found one of Brenna’s children. Friedrich and Brenna are forced to travel to Izeling Tower to a ball thrown by King Dominic and his mother, Queen Morgrid for answers. In true Juliette Cross fashion, the book builds to an intense peak enough to make my heart beat right out of my chest. The book goes from sweet romantic words, intensely sexy times, cute, adorable children, and heart pounding action. So the book has everything. I could not stop reading. My husband was lucky I was able to provide dinner. Just a note, even though each of the books in this series is about a different couple, the series is best read in order. There is a plot that continues throughout the series and the characters are recurring. I also want to add that Juliette writes the BEST prologues and epilogues. Just the prologue alone took my breath away. I was hooked immediately. If you haven’t started this series yet, start with Book one, The Black Lily, then book two is The Red Lily. This series is amazing and I don’t want you to miss a single word of it. I can’t wait to see what Juliette Cross has in store for us next. Don’t forget to check out some of her other series as well. They are all amazing. “It was no longer a war of humans against vampires. It was a war between justice and tyranny.” |
4.5 stars Book three in Juliette Cross’ Vampire Blood series brings us Friedrich Volya, Duke of Winter Hill, and a naughty duke he is. “You’re most improper for a royal duke.” “Thank you, I do my best.” The reformed rake is one of my favourite tropes out there and Friedrich does it justice being the perfect blend of charming and cheeky whilst having that strong dominance and presence which comes with being vampire royalty. Popular with the ladies, he’s knocked off his stride when teacher and mother to seven adopted orphans, Brennalyn Snow proves that not all women are so easy to woo. “I can pretend I am only bewitched by your blood and lusting for your flesh.” The White Lily was definitely on the slower burn end of the romance scale, but that was fitting to the overall story because there is so much more as King Dominik makes his appearance in his quest to discover just who The White Lily is, whilst his mother, Queen Morgrid continues in her tyranny against the villagers. And as the story progresses and tension builds within the kingdom and surrounding villages, it’s also building between Friedrich and Brenna, because he is nothing but determined to show her his true self. “She was his addiction, his obsession, his all-consuming weakness.” With passionate build-up and plenty of fight and humour between this couple as well as lovely softer moments involving the children, once again Juliette Cross has created a couple to adore. But when the crux of this story hits, it hits hard and fast, leaving your heart in your throat, clawing at the pages desperate to see how the story will unfold, and that’s why I love this series: the final book, The Emerald Lily, can’t come soon enough for me. |

The White Lily by Juliette Cross is the 3rd book in her fantastic Vampire Blood series. I loved the first two books in this series, and was amazed how Juliette Cross just keeps on giving us another fantastic story. Seriously folks, if you have not read Juliette Cross, you are missing a wonderful author, who never fails to wow us each and every time. In the first book of this series, The Black Lily, the themed fairy tale background was Cinderella; in The Red Lilly it was Red Riding Hood, and in The White Lilly, it is Snow White. We meet our wonderful sweet heroine, Brennalyn Snow, who is a school teacher in Terrington, and she also has adopted 7 homeless children. Brenna has been visiting the lands of the Duke of Winter Hill to spy on him. Why? She is a supporter of The Black Lily, but unbeknownst to everyone, she is secretly The White Lily, who prints out propaganda against the vampire monarchy. Friedrich Volya, is the Duke of Winter Hill and our hero. One day he has one of his men bring Brenna to him, to find out why she is spying on him; he is suspicious as to who she supports. Friedrich, whom we met in the last book, is a full supporter to the Black Lily, and hates his evil uncle, King Dominik; but he has to put on an act that he supports the monarch or he will be marked as a traitor. Despite their suspicions of each other, in a short time their attraction becomes something neither can avoid. Brenna does not want any relationship and knows she does not fit with the Duke for long term. Friedrich finds himself besotted with the beautiful sweet Brennalyn, and is determined to make her his. Friedrich knows he must protect Brenna, since the King is looking for the White Lily, and he moves her to his mansion, with her 7 children. I have to say, I adored the children, which was such an excellent added element to the story. Watching them with Friedrich or his men was sweet, and it also helped bring Brenna and him together. What follows is a very exciting adventure that will have Friedrich, his men (The Bloodguard) and Brenna attempt a rescue that will put her life in danger, as well as all of them. As we raced to the pulse pounding climax, I loved seeing those we met in the first two books join the battle. I loved Friedrich and Brennalyn together, as they had great chemistry together, and made such a great couple. Juliette Cross has given us wonderful characters in all three books, as well as flawlessly moving the story along cohesively. Vampire Blood is a fantastic series, and so very well written by Juliette Cross. The White Lily was another fantastic ride. I can’t get enough of this series, with so many great characters, sexy couples, and bad villains. You need to be reading this series, if you have not done so yet. |
"You want me too kiss you… And bite you… Lick you… Fuck you." *sigh* that quote makes me tingle in all the right places. On that note, I enjoy a good erotic pnr romance and the Vampire Blood series by Juliette Cross is exactly what I'm talking about. You're thrust into a vast world of darkness. Everywhere around you there is corruption and deceit. The vampire order is ruling over the humans, thus causing the rebellion. Friedrich is a duke, vampire royalty. While his lover is Brennalyn, a local school teacher. Little does Friedrich know that Brennalyn is in on the rebellion against humans and vampires. Both carry secrets, but once they are out in the open . . . Well that's for you to read and find out. XD The White Lily is an action packed adventure, with romance that make your toes curl! |
Brennalyn Snow is a school teacher and a revolutionary . She also has seven adopted children to look after. Friedrich Volya is the vampire Duke of Winter Hill. He knows there is someone in his area that is printing and distributing leaflets to encourage the humans to rise up against the Vampire aristocracy that rule them. Our heroine is a very brave , but a bit naive young woman. She doesn't realize how much danger she is in. Our hero lives by his own rules. Not the way his family think he should. The story in this occasionally gets lost in the sex. It's still an exciting and action packed book. It's part of a series that I would say you should read in order , so that you know what the revolution is all about. The heroines all have a slight resemblance to ones you might have read about as a child, but they are definitely adult stories. |
5 - "The prick is a little painful... But you'll only remember the pleasure." Stars! We finally get Friedrich’s story in the third book of Juliette Cross’s Vampire Blood Series. The White Lily puts the Duke of Winter Hill and local schoolteacher Brennalyn Snow firmly in villainous King Dominik’s crosshairs. IMAGE. This book was a little more of a slow burn compared to its predecessors, the first half or so dealt with the budding relationship between Friedrich and Brennalyn, but then everything in relation to the bigger story arc comes to the fore in the second half, as the relationship and feelings between them deepen. "You’re most improper for a royal duke…" "Thank you… I do my best." I loved the verbal sparring between these two. Friedrich isn’t shy about ensuring that Brenna knows exactly how much he is attracted to her, and although reluctant to become one in a long line of women from the village who have willingly become one of his bleeders in the past, she cannot deny just how mutual their feelings are for each other. The man made her want to climb in his lap and run away at the same time… But she was feisty with it, and never backed down when it came to getting her point across with him, and I enjoyed the fact that she made him work for what he wanted. Her adopted children and their care paramount to her more than her own wants and desires. "You want me too kiss you… And bite you… Lick you… Fuck you." We are definitely reaching the crescendo of this series now, there is more involvement from the Blood Guard in this book which bodes well for the future, and the battle between the Black Lily and the Vampire Royal family is very much firmly in the foreground in the latter stages of this book. "Your cause… My cause." Not one too wish my life away waiting for books to be released (soooo untrue it’s not funny) I cannot wait to get my hands on The Emerald Lily at this point I have absolutely no idea how the author plans to close out this series, and January 2018 cannot come soon enough for me to have all of my questions answered. "I can wait for more…" |
This is just what the entertainment gods in the fantasy world I visit recommended. A shot of vampire meets human fix. The story revolves around Brennalyn Snow or as the Duke, Friedrich, calls her Ms. Snow, and an uprising to challenge the reign of terror unleashed on the people by a very powerful vampire King. Brenna is a schoolteacher at Terrington and she is also a spy calling herself, The White Lily, who helps print publications aimed at enlightening the local people on the uprising. Her intention to spy on the Duke turns into an instant attraction, one that neither of them saw coming, but have to embrace, well...The Duke does this so well, and he goes after his prey. Brennalyn, well, she's never liked being hunted but cannot resist the way her heart beats faster at the thought of this Duke. The ending was quite predictable and what Friedrich had against him in the story was only the bad reputation of his family, I did not see him deal with a greater challenge in the book. I did however found his ability to humble himself quite intriguing because this then made Brenna see him in a different light, hence absolving him of the opinion she had of him due to his family's past. Brenna's connection with the seven orphans she took in was touching and the lengths she went to save Helena in the story was something unexpected for me. It's been a great read and I received an advance readers copy from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review and now my thirst for a vampire fix has been quenched! |

Great plot! Strong heroine who wiling to do anything to protect her family! A aristocrat vampire learning more about humanity and a vicious vampire villain who wishes to reign over people! |
'The White Lily' by Juliette Cross is Book Three in The "Vampire Blood" series. This is the story of Friedrich Volya, the Duke of Winter Hill and Brennalyn. I have read the previous books (and loved them!) but feel this can easily be a standalone book. Brennalyn is the local school teacher but she has a secret that she is hiding that puts her is very real danger if found out. Brennalyn has a soft heart too and has taken in some of the unwanted children who have become like her own children. Brennalyn's friend works at the Duke's house and one day while there 'talking' to her good friend, she looses her way and ends up in front of the Duke, Friedrich. Brennalyn pretends to be interested in being one of his blood women but he calls her out. Brennalyn then reports she wants the school to have a better stove. Brennalyn doesn't know if she can trust Friedrich and doesn't want him to know why she was really there. Friedrich knows that Brennalyn is lying to him but he not sure yet if he can trust her....but he does know he wants her. This whole series has been great! This book just added to my love of this series. I cannot wait for more books to come by Ms. Cross! Vampire and schoolteacher . Fredrich and Brennalyn are great characters whom has a special connection.. An epic vampire paranormal romance with drama, action, suspense and passion. Haven't read the others but didn't have trouble following story. Enjoyed reading. |
Recieved in return for an honest review via NetGalley Naughtiness 3.5* Thoroughly enjoyed this book, one of the first I've read by Juliette but most definitely will not be the last. Though part of a series this can be read as a stand alone but purely because of how fantastic it is I'd recommend getting all of them and reading them back to back, I haven't had chance to read all of its sisters to date but will be doing so. As always I will not give spoilers it would be unjust to the book and author to do so, I will however tell you that if you love vampire romance, adventure and an epic roller-coaster of a story that completely pulls you in to the point of not knowing whether you are in said story or the real world then this is for you. I highly recommend this book and hope to read many more in future by Juliette. Thank you Juliette for this amazing book, I love it very much. can't wait for the next to come out xxx |
Certainly an interesting storyline. Good overall writing. Liked it for the most part |
It took me longer to settle into this book than it did the previous ones but by the time I'd reached the third chapter I found I was enjoying it. Brennalyn Snow is the school teacher at Terrington she's beautiful with a huge heart proven by the fact that she's adopted seven children and these children steal the show, they are completely adorable. Brennalyn believes in the Black Lily and justice and she's trying to discover where the Duke's loyalty lies. The Duke is supporting the Black Lily but his uncle has planted traitors before so he's suspicious about Miss Snow. Despite their suspicions they are very attracted to each other although each has sworn to never get seriously involved with another. There's some fabulous characters in this book particularly the children, the Bloodguard, Friedrich and of course Brennalyn. #### SPOILER #### I don't know if its just that I'm sceptical by nature but when they arrived at Izeing I expected them to be incredibly cautious (discreetly writing notes and burning them) after all his uncle already suspects he's a traitor yet they talk freely in their room a room in his uncles home. I know this is a paranormal romance and not a book to be taken too seriously but I'll admit this bothered me because it seemed so obvious, the perfect opportunity for his uncle to discover once and for all if he's a traitor. #### Despite the spoiler I really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one. I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by NetGalley and Entangled Publishing LLC. |
This review is as spoiler free as possible for this, and the previous books; however I can’t stress strongly enough that you need to read the books in order: The Black Lilly, The Red Lilly, and then The White Lilly to really understand and appreciate this amazing world and the characters that live in it. Book three of the Vampire Blood series has us well and truly enmeshed in a world of humans ruled by vampires. What should be a peaceful coexistence has instead turned into oppression. The highest echelons of vampire society have been infected with sanguine furorem, the blood sickness, which transforms vampires into sadistic creatures with an unquenchable bloodlust, and those infected are spreading it for their own nefarious purposes. But all is not lost; the Resistance is growing, an army of humans and unaffected vampires, led by the infamous Black Lilly. The White Lilly reintroduces us to Friedrich, Duke of Winterhill, who is covertly aiding the resistance while attempting to maintain a façade of loyalty to the crown to his uncle who strongly suspects his true allegiance. He meets Brennalyn who has secrets of her own. Secrets so dangerous they put her, and everyone she loves, in mortal peril. Juliette Cross has done it again. By book three The Vampire Blood world is already well developed, but each new title adds new depths and nuances, expanding an already fascinating world. Of course, characterisation is spot on and I’d expect nothing less from this author. All characters regardless of whether they are the main players or just in the periphery are anything but cardboard cut-outs. Each have their own stories, their own distinct personalities, which makes it so easy to either love them… or hate them. Friedrich is my personal favourite of the male leads so far. Don’t get me wrong, the previous two are fantastic, but Friedrich has such a playful, humorous side to him. He’s so naughty, in all the right ways! Brennalyn makes a lovely female lead and the perfect balance to Friedrich. Perhaps a little naïve in her understanding of safety for her and her family, but there is no doubting her courage and willingness to do whatever it takes for those she loves. Although completely addictive and page turning, I didn’t find the storyline quite as intense as The Red Lilly, but that’s a good thing; a little lightness after the harrowing events of book two. A breather before what I’m sure will be a powerful journey towards the end of the series. I can’t wait for book four and if you haven't started this series yet, do it now! *Advanced Reading Copy received from publisher in lieu of an honest review. My thanks to Juliette Cross and Entangled Publishing for giving me the opportunity to review this fantastic book. |
This series is a hit! I loved this alternative perspective with the introduction of the White Lily! Bold and sassy and competent heroines who take the lead, charging into danger while protecting the ones that they love- paired with the fairy tale noir twist- and seriously delicious heroes with fangs I want to bang- Yes, I highly recommend! |
