I really enjoyed the story line itself, but a lot of times, I found myself confused and having to go back and read a few paragraphs again. I loved Ollies character and her story. I also loved the use so ASL between her and Aaron. I didn't like how things ended with Aaron or Sadie. I they they should of had some kind of closure ? After what happened it just seemed unfinished. And creepy Alan 🙈

The book has a lot of side stories with the characters that definitely could turn into more or other books possibly. The characters have a lot going on.

Brooks- absolutely love. Perfect book boyfriend. ;) and you could definitely tell he loved Ollie. And ollie loved him! Overall, the book has so much potential, and seeing as it is book 1, I'm excited to see what's in store for book 2!

Falsies is hard to describe. It's not your typical New Adult or Women's Fiction nov. It's a mix of both. The book had a really great premise. The storyline was really good, so much drama. I love drama, but I don't love an insta-love type drama. The insta-love wasn't in your face, but it was implied right when the characters met. So that was a downer for me. I feel like I needed more background for the characters, I didn't feel any real connection to them, and I think if there was more background than I would have. Overall, it was a good read. I'd recommend it.

3.25 Stars!

I was intrigued by the blurb and was excited to read this book by a new author.

Falsies is was an enjoyable enough read. It was a bit slow in some parts, but thankfully picked up at about 30-35% in the novel. And because I choose to keep my reviews fairly spoiler-free, I won't go into explicit detail about things related to the plot.
But, our main character, Ollie, is a complex and damaged individual. She's an art major and interning at a well-known tattoo shop. Ollie is still very much mourning the passing of her father and is in a great deal of pain, and is just trying to get by.

Brooks is Ollie's best friend's neighbor, and she is quickly intrigued by the handsome doctor-to-be. Brooks was definitely swoon-worthy! And if anything I wish there was more of him and less of the side characters.

There were a handful of aspects I liked about this story; the writing and creativity behind certain concepts. But, there were some things I just couldn't get past. Ollie, makes a very immature and hurtful decision forwards the end and it was a little too quickly resolved, which felt unrealistic.
I wished there was some sort of epilogue.

This book was good, but it had the potential to be great.

I wasn't sure what to really expect going into Falsies. But I was pleasantly surprised. Ollie and Brooks (William) seemed to just gel. With him she was a completely different person then she was with her friends (Aaron and Sadie). Of course Brooks pushed and saw past all the fake and broken Ollie. Her friends well they seemed to more thrive off her almost pushing her to stay broken. I think we all are a little broken and put a false façade hoping someone will look past and see through. I love that Brooks never gave up on Ollie even when she gave up or started to give up on herself. Falsies was well written and had me glued to the pages. I can't wait to see where Olive East goes next.

Falsies. A title that passed on to Netgalley and I really wondered was by the flap text and the cover. I decided to request him and was happy when I got him.
Because I do not know Olive East, I had no expectations. Well, okay, after peeking at Goodreads, I expected quite a bit. There Falsies received only high ratings.

Frankly, I do not really get the high ratings. I did not like the book. Or just say, not at all. And I think it's all about the writing style of Olive East. In the beginning, I had a lot of trouble to get in and I hoped it would be better that I eventually came in, but it just did not happen. The writing style felt particularly flat and did not read well.

It should be a New Adult, but in terms of writing style and flatness, it felt like a mediocre Young Adult.

And with the characters I really could not really do anything at all. The story is told by Olive in the first person, but I do not have any connection with her and also feel nothing about her. She does a few things I picked up my eyebrows and I do not think she's getting well painted, especially her past.
And Brooks, I find such a character that only has good points and not bad. Of course you see him from Olive, but still. I was not totally curious about him and did not need to get to know him better.

I also found the situation with Brooks ... weird. It felt like a very strange story and Brooks almost made me think of a stalker. I found that a very weird piece and just scary. A love interest should be fun, but I totally did not think so.

Too bad, because Falsies really sounded like a nice book and there was also potential, but somehow it did not really matter. It was not so bad, but really not my thing. I'm sure I will not read this book. Unfortunately, I can not give the book more than two stars.

Falsies I received as a review copy of Netgalley and of course this did not affect my opinion.

Wow, do I begin with this one. I really enjoyed this, it hooked me from the start and just adored the main character Ollie and her story, especially when Brooks came in the picture. Anyway, we meet Ollie not long after a devastating loss of father, it hit her hard and everyone around is afraid that she might take her life just the same. Her best friends walk around on egg shells and treat her like she is fragile. I won’t give away to much more other than, it has brings all kinds of feels with it.

Ollie believes she is broken, and no one will want her the way she is. The thing is, she really isn’t broken, and I found her to be a pretty strong woman. She just has to learn to believe that. She is isn’t perfect, she does things that I don’t agree with and if I could I probably would have tried to smack some sense into her, but you learn life’s lessons as you go along. Sadie and Aaron have been her best friends for so long, and they want what is best for her and really do try to do everything they can to help her. Sadie seemed to care a lot for Ollie, Aaron did too. Something about him, just didn’t set with me. O’well… There are a few other people, you have Ollie’s Mom, can you say, “piece of work”, and Brooks parents, “curiously interesting”. They all made for a fantastic set of characters that I hope we get a little more about them in the next book.

The romance is slow and builds at a nice burning pace. There is no jumping right in the bed, no instant I love’s you. Yes, there is chemistry from the initial hello, but neither of them act on it. Having their back stories woven in was a nice way to understand them both a little better. And I enjoyed watching them get to know each other and build something a little more than just something sexual. Now, don’t get me wrong, they had some steamy sexual encounters and well worth the wait. The romance between Brooks and Ollie was done in such a way that I couldn’t help but to root for them.

All I can say is, I adored this one sexy romantic book, and I can’t recommend it enough. There are up and downs, tears and anger, a cast of characters that I just adored. Can’t wait for the second book.

I did not get a chance for finish this novel. Based on the description, I was very intrigued but upon reading the story my expectations just fell kind of flat. I wish that the story had more to it. This was not one of my favorites and I hate to mark it on my DNF shelf. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read and review.
