I tried, I really did. I wanted to continue this book but I was so bored within the first few pages--the info dump too distracting--that I could barely continue. My dreams of a happy, Christmas book were dashed as I DNF'd this one. So sad. Maybe I'll pick it up again at some point but I just couldn't make myself read any more. Maybe another time!

The sixth book in Sarah Morgan's From Manhattan with Love series rounds out a story arc that began in New York, Actually with the Knight siblings Daniel, Felicity "Fliss", and Harriet respectively with this book in particular focusing on Harriet.

If you're someone who has read all the books in this series, or has at least read the last couple, you will understand that the Knight children grew up in an unhappy household, with a father who was verbally abusive. This has affected each differently, but probably none so much as Harriet who tried her hardest to avoid being noticed, who tried to fade into the background, to keep from drawing her father's ire.

Well, now that Harriet's brother and sister have both found their happiness in their new relationships / significant others, she's feeling almost left behind. She doesn't begrudge them their happiness, but they're her only close family. And having a close, loving family is the most important thing to Harriet. In order to finally break out of her shell, as she would put it, Harriet has devised a plan titled "Challenge Harriet" where throughout the holiday season she will challenge herself to do the things she would normally shy away from or, in the case of their business The Bark Rangers, have her sister take care of. It's during one of her challenges (trying online dating) that Harriet meets Dr. Ethan Black.

Being an ER doctor Ethan has long ago lost his compassionate view of people, needing to distance himself somewhat in order to get the job done, when the job requires quick and sometimes difficult decisions. When he meets Harriet the first time, he's immediately taken with her kindness. When he meets Harriet the second time (after agreeing to take care of his sister's dog in an emergency) he finds out that he may just have something to learn from her, and in turn, maybe he can help her with her challenges.

I've really enjoyed this series, but probably not so much as these last three particular books focusing on the Knights and now getting it's conclusion with Harriet's story. I am happy to report that Harriet's happily-ever-after is one befitting such a character as she.

I really liked how genuine Harriet is. She's not disillusioned about herself and her insecurities, and while sometimes you may wonder - a point Ethan brings up repeatedly - why she would willingly put herself in uncomfortable or oftentimes unhappy situations - i.e. deciding to spend Christmas alone - I couldn't help but admire her tenacity in really trying to break out of her shell. In facing down the past that made her shy away, yet also coming to an understanding that who she is, shyness and stammering and all, is still wonderful.

I loved that Harriet's happiness didn't hinge on a romantic relationship with Ethan instead it was enhanced by it, but she would have been happy with or without him in the end. It wasn't going to get in the way of what she had accomplished on her own.

On the other hand we have Ethan who has, over time, closed himself off to what he feels are his loving emotions. Helped along by the fact that he couldn't make his first marriage work, he's set it the fact that he doesn't need and / or want love. So even when things begin to heat up between himself and Harriet, he doesn't even figure on them going anywhere. I liked Ethan's transformation because it's subtle, and not an in-your-face moment of catharsis for him. It begins when he agrees to watch his sister's dog while she's away. The caring for someone / something not in an immediately life-threatening situation, as he finds on the job, is a different pace for him. He has to, I guess, slow down a bit. Harriet shows him this and it's really sweet.

Overall, I've really enjoyed this series. It's a perfect light romance and this one has the added bonus of taking place during the holiday season. I could picture the setting of New York in December with snow and Christmas in my mind's eye perfectly.

I'm not sure if there are going to be any more books in this series at this point. Moonlight over Manhattan ties things up quite nicely, but of course there's a thread left open with a secondary character, and honestly I'd love to see some closure there.

I loved this story about Harriet, the dog walker with a heart of gold, and Ethan, the doctor who has turned off his feelings about everything. I had fun reading the banter and the trials that Harriet put herself through. Sweet, sexy, heartfelt, but not too dark at all. Perfect Christmastime romance.

Yet another great book in her From Manhattan With Love series! This is the 6th book in the series but all books can be read as a standalone, in my opinion.

Harriet has lived a sheltered life, protected by her older brother Daniel and twin sister Fliss. But when Daniel finds true love and Fliss is reconnected with the love of her life, Harriet is left to figure out life on her own. She comes up with a plan: Challenge Harriet. Every day until Christmas she is going to do one thing outside of her comfort zone whether it is to go on blind dates or wear stilettos, she is going to do it.

Dr. Ethan Black is an ER doctor and married to his job with no time for anything else. That is, until his sister calls in a favor-to dogsit. Fortunately, his sister has been a long-standing customer with The Bark Rangers and her dogwalker, Harriet, will help out. After an incident with the dog, Dr. Ethan Black loses his temper and Harriet's stammer from childhood returns. Can Harriet overcome this Challenge working with Dr. Ethan Black?

As I said earlier, this love story is another great one by Sarah Morgan. I think I say this with each new book that she releases in this series, but this one is my new favorite! It has the magic of Christmas mixed with unexpected romance and overcoming complicated pasts. A beautiful combination of the three made me giddy while reading this book. I kept forcing myself to stop every couple of chapters because I wanted to savor the book rather than speed through-which was a Challenge!

I would absolutely recommend this book (and the other books in this series) to any adult reader who enjoys romance with comical moments. Also for readers who enjoy reading character development and overcoming the past to find themselves. This fast-paced book showed strong character development not only with Harriet, but with Ethan as well.

I would not recommend this book for readers who may be sensitive to or offended by mild foul language, violence, and sexual scenarios.

Harriet Knight has always been introverted, relying on her more confident twin, Fliss, to help her navigate the uncomfortable sea of humanity outside their apartment. But now Fliss has moved out to live with her fiancé, and Harriet has decided it’s time to push herself outside her comfort zone in order to seek changes in her life. She’s put herself on a month-long challenge to do something she wouldn’t normally everyday between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Dr. Ethan Black works in the ER of a Manhattan hospital. He’s great at this job, knowledgeable, friendly, and able to put aside the overwhelming array of emotions that can spring up in his intense line of work. But when he meets Harriet who simply twisted her ankle and takes his professional advice at face value, he realizes he’s become too cynical. When Ethan agrees to watch his sister’s dog for a short time and Harriet comes as part of the package, Ethan begins to question his own outlooks on life.

Moonlight Over Manhattan is another wonderful romance in Ms. Morgan’s enjoyable From Manhattan with Love series. This time, the story focuses on Fliss’s twin, Harriet, the timid sister who lets Daniel and Fliss take care of her. In the previous two books, we’ve gotten glimpses of Harriet, but in Moonlight Over Manhattan, Harriet is allow to develop and grow.

Challenge Harriet, the name she calls herself because of her goal to do something outside of her comfort zone for a month, is full of surprises, doing things that would be difficult for Harriet. But what happens over the course of the book is that Challenge Harriet and Harriet become one. She learns how to be comfortable in her own skin and discovers she can trip up, recover, and move ahead. And Ethan’s genuine joy in seeing this transformation in Harriet is contagious. I found myself cheering for Harriet each time she tried something new.

While Ethan is an equal partner in this romance, I feel his storyline is overshadowed by Harriet’s. Not only did it seem he had fewer POVs, but because he has given up on love and the messy emotions that get in the way of his job, we don’t get a lot of emotion out of his POVs. Yet, he’s empathetic and kind, with a bedside manner of a saint. And Ethan is freakishly perceptive, in ways I’ve not seen in real life men. For example, realizing how Harriet uses food to help people and make things better and that she isn’t trying to win his heart, but just being who she is: an honest, giving person. He’s just too astute. But that’s also how his character is developed.

While minor, I did have a couple issues with the storyline. For example, Ethan’s need for Harriet to move into his home, rather than have his sister’s dog go home with Harriet. Although I feel the reason for Harriet moving in is a bit ridiculous, the author doesn’t use it to press them together. Additionally, for someone who is so dedicated to animals, Harriet spends a lot of time not walking dogs and easily finding other people to take care of her responsibilities. At one point she is bottle feeding kittens, which is a huge responsibility and a round-the-clock job, yet she goes out of town the next day or so.

In the end, I loved Harriet and Ethan; I loved watching them grow close, and loved how they ended together. Moonlight Over Manhattan, and the entire From Manhattan with Love series, is great because it is about all of those warm fuzzy feelings that make romance my favorite genre to read.

My Rating: B+ Liked It A Lot

i quite liked the first 4 books in this series (i haven't read matilda & chase's but i remember them from the first book i think) but unfortunately the last 2 fell a bit flat for me. i liked harriet and ethan, about as much as i liked seth and fliss, but something was missing for me in both books. i really liked susan, she was such a fun character.

bottom line, this was cute and fun, passed the time just fine. it wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. it was sweet. overall i recommend this series if you're looking for some fluffy reads.

Sticking with her typical style Sarah Morgan gives us Harriet's story. The other half of the Bark Rangers, who have featured in her Manhattan stories since the beginning, albeit in a minor role.

Besides having two characters with different careers, I felt like the more I read from this author, the more I feel like I've read this before. Same never ending snowfall in New York. The main characters always end up moving in for some reason. Same stereotypical unrealistic events going on around them. Same insecure emotional female with gazillions of baggage that needs a man to show her how it's done. Who then falls in love with the man who can't get it together fast enough mentally to handle it. Which is crazy. In this case we are led to believe he is supportive and encouraging her to seek out the tough stuff. But then he seemingly can't do the same.

Sometimes the 'lightbulb' moment in which the man, in this case Dr Ethan Black, then realizes he loves her too - feels connected. In this boom however, he's pretty certain he doesn't love her and then suddenly he's there telling her he does. It didn't work for me. His thoughts are missing from this conclusion, as books usually have the ability to share when they are written from the point of view of both main characters.

There's a good dose of humor and romance that will keep her fan base happy. The minor characters, like Susan & Glenys do enough to add dimension to the story. Harriet is what I imagine a good best friend should be. Kind, thoughtful and loyal to a fault. Ethan an overworked ER Doctor that is content with his lifestyle of work, work and more work. No time for much in the way of a real relationship.

I received this eARC from HQ and Netgalley. This is my honest review.

My Review:

Sarah Morgan continues to delight with Moonlight Over Manhattan, her latest installment of her From Manhattan With Love series. I have read and adored each and every one of these divinely written and cleverly endearing treasures. Sweet Harriet is on her own for the first time since her beloved twin sister and human buffer to the harshness of the world has found love and moved away. Harriet has devised a self-improvement plan for her Christmas present to herself by meeting a challenge or completing a difficult task each day between Thanksgiving and Christmas, to gift herself with courage. A rather ambitious and admirable plan in my opinion. And I enjoyed every step as Harriet battled herself while making significant inroads in facing her discomforts with sly humor and insightful observation. I adore Ms. Morgan’s complex yet lovably flawed characters as well as her amusing and deft word-craft. The witty banter and snappy quips flung between characters is always a tasty treat. I have smirked, laughed aloud, and sighed myself through each cleverly written book and as always, I am already eagerly awaiting the next arrival.

If I thought “From Manhattan With Love”, was a fabulous love story of Felicity Knight and Seth Carlyle, wait until you read her twin sister, Harriet Knight’s walk into the sunset with her doctor Ethan Black…it’s just stunning!!!!

Sarah Morgan’s latest and up coming, “Moonlight Over Manhattan” is just as magical and mystical as the festive Christmas time in the Big Apple. The kindest, the sweetest, and the shy Harriet Knight wants to go through the “Challenge Harriet” and go beyond her comfort zone, a challenge that lands her in the ER and to the existence of ER doctor Ethan Black.

Circumstances and a dog bring them under one roof, long conversations and dog training brings them close, and the attraction and lust brings them under the same covers. But the beauty of this love story is in the conversations, the brilliant chemistry between Ethan and Harriet, the emotional and kind interactions between Harriet and her world of people, and the courage and empathy of making new friends as Ethan and Harriet navigate the delicate lanes of love and relationship.

“Moonlight Over Manhattan” is a must read to savor the magic of romance, the mysteries of relationship, the spectrum of fears and insecurities, and the support of friendship and family. Words and reviews don’t do justice, and make sure every word is read to enjoy this beautiful love story.

She'll risk everything for her own Christmas miracle...

Determined to conquer a lifetime of shyness, Harriet Knight challenges herself to do one thing a day in December that scares her, including celebrating Christmas without her family. But when dog walker Harriet meets her newest client, exuberant spaniel Madi, she adds an extra challenge to her list--dealing with Madi's temporary dog sitter, gruff doctor Ethan Black, and their very unexpected chemistry.

All I can say is wow... I am so glad I decided to request this book because I now have another Author I have to keep up with. This book I could not put down and ended up staying up all night to finish it. I am a big fan of Rachel Gibson and Jill Shavis and this book left me feeling so happy like their books do.
Harriet was such a lovable character and made me want a friend just like her. I loved seeing her grow as a person throughout this book. All I can say that would be bad about her is hearing about her cooking made me hungry reading this book.
Ethan was yummy from the start. Who would not love him, not only does he listen but he tries so hard to be a good guy which you have to give him points for. Without giving spoilers the only time he drove me a little crazy was the end of the book.

The only bad thing about this book was the fact I would of loved to see a year after the last chapter ended. I love knowing how things ended up in the future and this book didn't have that.
I ended up giving this book 5 out of 5 stars and already have started looking for the other books in the series. This book was a great romantic read and is perfect for all those people who love a good love story.

This was a really cute festive novel! Harriet is just adorable (and so are the dogs in this book). Ethan sounds handsome and I liked him, although I wish he acted better sometimes. Nonetheless, this was an adorable novel that I completely flew through!

It is an entertaining and endearing holiday romance. I loved it. Definitely recommend to all lovers of romance! I have read three other stories by Sarah Morgan and I loved those as well. I will definitely continue reading more from her in the future. Moonlight Over Manhattan tells the story of Harriet, a New York dog walker, and her attempts to challenge herself each day until Christmas, to step outside her comfort zone. Please Check out this awesome story!

I have not read any other books by Sarah Morgan, but I am so glad I read this one. (This is the 6th book in the From Manhattan with Love series). It was a delightful read.

This book is about Harriet, a dog walker who is shy and introverted (I can relate!) and she has implemented “Challenge Harriet” project to try and break out of her shell: doing one thing a day that is outside of her comfort zone. Through this process we find out about her past and her family in a very touching way.

If you have read this genre before, it is evident early on in the book (around the second chapter) that the story will also be about the relationship between Harriet and the handsome doctor who treats her ankle (that she hurts while escaping from an ill-fated internet date).

The relationship could have felt contrived, but the author did a great job in not making it seem natural. The conflicting feelings of the characters felt real. I definitely got invested in the characters and was rooting for them.

The thing I really liked about this book is that the characters had history, especially Harriet. We learn about those and the struggles she has had to overcome. This wasn’t done in a maudlin or tragic way, and it really helped me to ‘buy in’ to the story.

If you enjoy romance stories, (and dogs!) then this is a book for you. If you have read any of the author’s other books, you know the charm of her writing. If you haven’t read any of the others in this series, you could definitely start with this one (and not feel lost)!

I rated this book 4/5 stars on Goodreads.

Full disclosure: I received this eARC from NetGalley for a fair and honest review. (Thanks NetGalley!)

There were parts in this story that I liked and parts that I just skipped over. Harriet is a sweet h and Noah is a bit gruff but you eventually warm up to him. I enjoyed this sweet read.

*ARC provided by the publisher via Net Galley - thanks! This in no way impacted my opinions of this book.*

As the weather turns colder, I find myself increasingly drawn to warm fuzzy reads full of romance and some steam. Sarah Morgan is an author whose books I've come to enjoy this past year, and this cute addition to her Manhattan series is no exception. While I felt like I connected more with the characters and there were more swoony moments in her earlier installments in the series, this was fine to carry me through two blustery wintery afternoons.

The book was okay. Predictable plot with predictable characters who have just a tiny hint of sass. Overall an enjoyable read to keep boredom at bay. For full review check my blog out:

This is an absolutely delightful ending to the trilogy. Ms.. Morgan delivers her surefire recipe of interesting characters mixed with the right touch of emotion, story and dialog finally pulling me out of a reading slump.
Harriet is one of the most delightful characters that I've met between the pages of a book. She's such a contradiction of love and pain and good will that I wanted to reach out and hug her. There were quite a few times when I wanted to shake Ethan but its a good thing that he managed to redeem himself in my eyes by the end of the book.
Last night my girl friend was relating her niece's adventures with dating a la the internet dating sites. Her stories are so reminiscent of Harriet's adventures particularly the one that has her crawling out of a bathroom window of a restaurant to escape her latest fiasco. Of course the fact that her jump in unaccustomed high heels lands her in the Ethan Black's ER are a perfect start to her story.
For all the chaos of a busy ER in a New York hospital Ethan enjoys a well order home when he does come home. When a family emergency sees him caring for his sister rambunctious puppy his well order life is thrown for a loop. Enter dog walker Harriet whom Ethan remembers for her patience in his ER. In order to restore order in his home, Ethan offers Harriet a large sum of money to live in his home and care for the puppy. Soon Harriet is doing what she does best, baking cookies, cooking dinner creating a home out of his sterile apartment.
Even as he resents and tries to keep her at arms length her sad funny stories of creating an independent life without her twin touch his heart and her beauty touches other chords in his body. The author brings alive how lonely a big city full of people can be especially around the holidays. Harriet with her care and nurturing warmth is a treasure that readers know Ethan is going to mess with. He's a man and they're selfish to boot and when his fellow ER doc has an accident and fights for her life Ethan retreats and closes himself up.
This is a great Christmas story that will touch hearts and restore faith in love.

I loved this book. I have read almost all of Ms. Morgan’s From Manhattan With Love books and each one gets better and better. I liked seeing Harriet Knight come out of her shell and Dr. Ethan Black find out that there was more to life than work. I don’t know what is going to happen next in the series, but I look forward to it.
Harriet Knight is painfully shy due to a stutter when she was younger. Although she has found a way to control her stutter, she is fearful that it will come back when she is in a high anxiety situation. That is one of the reasons why her sister handles most of the clients for their dog walking business and Harriet walks the dogs. When she is put into a situation that rattles her, Harriet finds a way to overcome and succeed.
Dr. Ethan Black thrives on the chaos and adrenaline of working in the ER department of a city hospital. He is able to compartmentalize his emotions and focus on the task at hand. Ethan likes to think he has everything under control until he agrees to take in his sister’s dog and returns home to a mess. Yelling at the dog walker is not the best solution, but Ethan isn’t sure what to do.
Watching Ethan and Harriet both work to figure out how to take care of a dog with her own issues while avoiding the growing attraction between them makes for a delightful story. I loved seeing each of them come to terms with their own issues and figure out how to make things work. There were definitely some comedic moments.

This was the perfect Christmas story. Ethan the sexy doctor who’s weary of love. Harriet was kinda and venerable. I love how this story built upon their friendship and didn’t just jump in a romance.

I love, love this book! A must read for the romance readers in search for something during the coming Holiday season. Harriet and Ethan are a great couple and they are just perfect for each other. I was cheering for them the whole book. Please, pick this book to get in the mood for Christmas and you will not be disappointed.
