Alexandra 'Aly' Ryans escaped to the U.S the moment she believed she ruined her friendships with the three princes she grew up with. But with a royal wedding coming up and everyone expecting her to be there, Aly is returning home to England. However, mingling with royalty means being in the spotlight; something Aly hates and when they discover some things about her past, will it cause her to run again or will she finally stay and face the music so she and Oliver Dudley can finally have their shot at happy ever after?

This is the first story I've read by Ms. Truitt and I've got to say that I loved this book, despite the fact that I thought the hero was an immature brat that needed to grow up and I wished that Aly would have ended up with Aiden instead, even though I knew Oliver was the hero in this book. The way this story started had me empathizing with the heroine, as going home gives her a mix of trepidation and exhilaration in seeing her friends and family. Will things be the same or different? However, it was from the moment that the hero and heroine came face-to-face for the first time in this story that had me feeling sorry for Aly, as it still seems Oliver is still an immature jerk that doesn't know a thing about responsibility and would rather have fun by pulling pranks.

As for the dialogue, it was intense due to the main characters back stories, because Aly was caught between two men in the past in Aiden and Oliver. However, there were certainly some really good light-hearted moments where the main and secondary characters reminisce about the past and tease the heroine when it comes to Aly and her use of british slang. Furthermore, the heroine is resilient and courageous in being able to face the past and hopefully make things right. I also liked the tight bonds she shares with the three princes and how they pretty much welcome her back with open arms, because they've missed her. Seriously, there's so much to like about the secondary characters in two of the princes - Freddie and Aiden; their bodyguard Liam and the prince's governess, Mrs. Wright. While the hero, he's an immature brat at times, but his desire for attention and being in the spotlight is for personal reasons; reasons that are good and a way to help his family. I also liked how determined he was to get the heroine to fight for their relationship, even though there's so much she dislikes about his life, especially how he's always hounded by the media and how he never has any expectations.

Overall, Ms. Truitt has delivered a fascinating and delightful read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance explosive and illustrates just how right these two are for each other; and the ending had me wondering whether Aly would ever be able to forgive herself for her past and fight for her happy ever after with Oliver. Yet, in saying that, I liked her courage and how far she was willing to go to be with the hero, even if it meant facing her fears. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely and had me wanting to laugh because of the surprise the hero has for the heroine and her reaction to the moment, as she's unprepared for what he wants her to do. I would recommend Royal Attraction by Tiffany Truitt, if you enjoy the friends to lovers trope or books by authors Stacy Kestwick, Willow Winters, Staci Hart and Erin Watt.

Usually I'm a big fan of plots about modern fairy tales. All the magic - not so true - about someone of royalty who falls in love with a commoner, and despite all the mishaps, love always triumphs.
In this case here, although the plot is something of the sort, the story didn't make me feel thrilled.
I'm not sure if it was the behavior of the female main character. Although in the end it is given a strong and plausible reason for her habitual behavior.
The Royal family was even interesting, but the romance of the main couple didn't convince me.

I'll confess, I couldn't care less about the actual Royals, but it was hella entertaining reading about the fictional Dudley brothers! I loved how this story progressed: with Aly growing up with the royal Dudley boys, her crushing on one, the events that led to her running away from them, the royal wedding that brought her back, and finally the journey to HEA with Ollie. I love how Aly was sporty and fun, yet shy. And Ollie - oh Ollie!!! I did appreciate the glimpse of what horrors the kind of notoriety that comes with the immense fame of being a royal, or even associated with the royal family bring, and it made Aly's concerns and insecurities so real and sympathetic. This was my first book by Tiffany Truitt and I sincerely look forward to reading more. I give Royal Attraction 3.75 out of 5 wine glasses.

3.5 “Rebel Royal” Stars

ARC via NetGalley.

Thank you, Entangled (Embrace)!

This was a fun read, and a lot less "triangly" (I know that's not a word) than I thought.

I went into this book thinking I'd get a royal love triangle, and while there were some flashback scenes that showed a little of that, the scenes set in the present made it clear that the focus of the romance were Alexandra and Oliver.

The story starts with Alexandra, an American girl raised with the British royal family due to her father's friendship with the King, returning to England for a royal wedding. It's clear early on that she had feelings for two of the King's sons and that caused enough trouble between the brothers that she "ran away" to America.

For me, Alexandra was likable and relatable, despite being super rich and having been raised among royals. I liked that she was into sports (soccer fan here!) and wasn't interested in exposing her life to the media. Her voice was fun and young, and her reasons for staying away from the people she loved seemed valid enough.

Like I said, there are a lot of flashback scenes that showed Alexandra's friendship with the boys and how she began to develop feelings for them. I'm usually not a fan of this going back and forth thing, but it didn't bother me here. I actually liked seeing more of how Alexandra went from dreaming about the older brother (the one who would one day become King) to falling for Oliver, the youngest prince, who also happened to be the one mostly liked to embarass the British crown.

While Alexandra was a little more Pippa Middleton than Kate, Oliver was a lot like Prince Harry in his more troublesome years. The third in the line for the throne, Oliver didn't care too much about ruling, so he focused his energy on being the one the media wrote and talked about (we later learn he has good reasons for acting that way). For me, that made him more interesting, because he knew how to shake things up and make them more fun.

In fact, one of the things I enjoyed most about this story was how it made the "less princely" guy the love interest. He wasn't as well-behaved or serious as his older brother, or as smart as the one getting married, but Oliver had a lot going for him and it was obvious he was the right guy for Alexandra.

I also liked seeing a little bit of the friends to lovers trope I love so much, especially in the flashbacks. I was rooting for Oliver and Alexandra to end up together from the very start and I was happy to get that happy ending.

This is the first time I have read any of this authors work, and it will certainly not be the last. Aly grew up with the Dudley boys, and Oliver always had a special place in her heart. Oliver is somebody who is pretty wild and does not care if the tabloids report his antics. When Aly returns after 3 years away, Oliver feels that his life is once again complete. These two are perfect together, but can secrets destroy their relationship? No spoilers; this is a must read, you will not be disappointed!
This is a well written storyline which flows seamlessly, and is also heartbreaking, humorous, emotional, sweet, and romantic. I recommend this authors work for all romance readers.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book!

Thoroughly enjoyed this one! Aly and Ollie were such a cute pair and a great opposites attract couple. Aly is the daughter of a former ambassador. A little shy, athletic, and what's nothing to do with the press. Oliver (Ollie) is the third in line to the crown. His brothers have all the pressure. He's the fun one. The jokester, And Aly's best friend. Three years ago everything changed and Aly too off. Now she's coming back to the castle to attend Ollie's brothers wedding and he plans to get her to stay. They find themselves trying to deal with the past, the press, and their feelings for each other. Can they get through all the bad to get to the good??

A great story that I highly recommend.

Ideal for anyone wanting to escape from reality into a modern day royal fairy tale romance!

Alexander Ryans has been brought up for most of her life living with the British Royal family where her Dad works as an advisor to the King after previously being the American Ambassador. She’s grown up with the three Princes, having her first crush on the eldest son, Aiden, but having Oliver, the youngest son, as her best friend and the one who both supports and challenges her most. At the start of the story, the reader is unaware of the reasons why Alexander (aka Aly or Ryans) left the palace to return to her American homeland. She is now returning to attend the royal wedding of the middle prince, Freddie, to the delightful Sophie. Aly has stayed away from the palace for years and is reluctant to return, especially after having problems in College that she doesn’t want to impact on anyone in the royal household. She only does so after being encouraged to do so by ‘Santa’, who has other roles within the story!

Well written, the story has great characters, plenty of turmoil and twists and turns. The pressures of the press, expectations and so much more are explored through the story which is also packed with wit and humour, making it an enjoyable read and a delightful one to lighten your mood and have you laughing. I hope the author is write another similar story for the only unattached Prince and definitely hope to read that if she does!

I requested and was given a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it.

Damn book made me cry!

Once again, I'm reminded that I'm an only child and I still long for an older brother.

SPOILER FREE REVIEW

I swear I picked up this book because it has modern princes, and it's set in a palace, the palace.

The story was really fascinating. They're three British royal brothers and an American girl who grew up together. They even have their own hangout place outside the palace just to feel normal once in a while. But truly the story points back to Aly who doesn't believe in herself. She thinks all she does is break things, she never does the right things, and she wants to be perfect for the perfect image that the press wants from her. But its's not just Aly who has problems, all four of them do. They're forced to give up a part of their soul for the crown and pretend to be people who they're not. That's always the main problem when one has responsibilities on their shoulder and a role to play. There was a lot of conflict and issues all throughout but the resolution for this book was more than what I could have expected.

Each of the main characters are well created with certain personalities that make them different from each other yet they have some points in common. My favorite character is Oliver (Ollie) Dudley, and not just because he's smoking hot and utterly sexy but he does things for a purpose. He may seem reckless but they are actually well calculated actions. Compared to Aly who's almost like a little whimp and all she knows is how to run away.

I love how this book is written in one person's point of view but it is divided between the past and the present. Also it is labeled at what age, month, and day it happened and there are also the early morning events where it's labeled are 'barely' it makes me laugh sometimes. Shifting from past to present are one of the types of writing style I adore because then it'd be very thrilling when they meet and tie in the end. The writing is also light and easy to read, though sometimes I look up a couple of words. It does uses a lot of British slang that I do not know the meaning off but that doesn't bother me at all.

I would recommend this to those who enjoy reading about princes, or book set in a royal palace and if one is curious about what goes on behind closed doors. If you want your heart to be crumpled a bit, and perhaps a little sweet fun then this is for you. It does have a bit of sexual activities here and there but nothing major since this is a romance and not an erotica.

"Be human. Be honest. Be you."

Best advice ever.

Royal Attraction is the first book I’ve read by Tiffany Truitt. And I fell in love with it. I chose it because I was excited about a royal romance. It’s a trope I really enjoy. Plus, something about the cover just called to me. It’s the best gamble I’ve ever taken because the book was so fantastic!

Alexandra Ryans or Aly, is the daughter of the former American ambassador to England. After the death of her mother and the death of the King’s wife, Aly and her father moved into the Royal Castle. She literally grew up with the three royal sons. They were her best friends, her partners in crime, her constant companions. Aiden is first in line to the throne, the studious Freddie second, and the jokester or wild card of the three, Oliver, third in line. Aly hates being in the spot light, hates being the focus of the press. The only time she is truly comfortable is when she is in motion. Aly is an athlete and she excels at it. Especially the British sport of futball.

Three years ago something happened which changed everything. It ruined everything. And Aly ran. It also opened her eyes to the one brother that she truly loved, had always loved. She just never realized it. Now, Freddie is getting married, and Aly is forced to return to England. While she was gone, she made some poor choices and is coming back embarrassed. She is no good for the Dudley brothers, her reputation is tarnished. So she would attend the wedding, spend time with her father, then leave. It’s what she had to do.

“They never tell you what happens to the girls the prince doesn't pick in the fairy tales. All the girls he danced with and made hope. What happens to all the girls the glass slipper just didn't fit?”

Ollie Dudley was always the fun one of the three brothers. As they grew older and Aiden was being prepared for his future role as next in line for the throne, Ollie didn’t mind giving the press something to talk about with his antics. He was constantly in the tabloids. It’s been three years since Aly left, three years that he has felt lost. Even if it’s just as his friend, he wants his Aly back, his best friend, the only woman he’s ever loved.

“No, Ollie. I’m embarrassed when I think back to those days, but not because I wish it was him in this room with me. I blush because of all the time I wasted. How foolish I was to not realize it was always you. You who always made it so easy to be me.”

As Ollie and Aly try to find their way to each other, the press is ready. They dredge up both untrue statements and also, some that are true. Things that Aly didn’t want to tarnish this special time for Freddie and his fiance. Things she didn’t want to tarnish the Royal Family. It’s just a reminder that she doesn’t belong here. That she’s a commoner. That she is no good for any of the Dudley brothers.

I just fell in love with this book, with Oliver and Alexandra. With all of the characters, really. There were so many heartbreaking moments as Aly and the Dudley brothers struggled for their places in life, where they truly belonged. And there were so many sweet moments as well. I loved that they were the Royal Family of England instead of a made up country. It just made it all the more believable. And I loved that the issues they dealt with were so true to real life, the paparazzi, the tabloids, friends who can’t be trusted. This book was just a wonderful read. I loved it and I hope that you do as well.

“You make everyone better at anything they do, Ryans. You see greatness in even the most inadequate of people and inspire them to believe in it themselves.”

I had high hopes for this book and went into it expecting it to wow me but I’ll be honest it didn’t. It was kind of okay in the beginning and I thought it would get better as the story developed and improved. However I couldn’t get into it as it lacked the interesting story hook that usually gets me into a book.

The characters were likeable but the story itself in my honest opinion let it down. I do think this book is going to be a hit or miss with readers. Some may love this book for how its written and others won’t. I just was not one of those people who liked or loved it.

However I will say this whilst I could not engage with the plot or the story, it was not badly written, it just was not for me. I would say give it a go and see whether it suits you or not.

⭐ Goodreads ⭐ Amazon ⭐

Alexandra Ryans grew up with the British royal family. As the daughter of an American ambassador, one of the King of England’s most trusted advisors, Aly’s life was, from a young age, intertwined with that of the princes. In her teens, Aly harbored a not-so-secret crush on Aiden, the oldest prince, first in line for the throne. But it was the youngest prince, Oliver, who became her best friend. It was Oliver who was always there for her. And it was Oliver who snuck into her heart without her even noticing.

Now, years after fleeing England to avoid a scandal (and embroiled in a scandal of her own back home), Aly is back in town for a royal wedding. She’s avoided both Ollie and Aiden for three years, but now she’ll need to face her feelings -- and her fears -- head on.

Last summer, I read and absolutely adored Tiffany Truitt’s Seven Ways to Lose Your Heart. It was the perfect combination of sexy and swoony and heartbreaking and is still one of my favorite new adult books. I talked about that book so much that I even annoyed myself, so when I saw a new ROYAL ROMANCE by Tiffany Truitt, I knew that I had to request it. I might have had like eight other ARCs that I had to read first, but I finally got to it and it was good! I might have liked SWtLYH a tad bit more, but a good road trip/music-based book will always win my heart. (Pardon my pun.)

As the book begins, we have no idea what happened between Aly and the royal family. All we know is that she’s been summoned home for her childhood friend’s wedding and she is just dreading going back. The night in question comes back in bits and pieces through flashbacks from Aly’s point of view. An argument here. A kiss there. A couple princes acting swoony. It’s pretty easy to piece together the general gist of what happened, but it’s not until the end of the book that we get all of the details.

I, for one, could not decide who I liked more: responsible, selfless Aiden or wild, heartbroken Ollie. Both of them have their own reasons for acting the way they do and for the various decisions they’ve made over the years. Although I normally despise love triangles, Tiffany Truitt gave us two strong contenders in Aiden and Oliver.

I’m going to divert into music for a little bit here, but it’ll all make sense in the end. (I hope.) I went for a long walk today and was in a nostalgic mood, so I put on All Time Low’s So Wrong It’s Right, which has been one of my favorite albums for a good decade now. When Shameless started playing, I was a little dumbfounded by how well some of the verses fit this book. Take a listen, if you’d like:

Okay, I just fell into a YouTube black hole of All Time Low songs. I was seventeen years old again for a little while there. I’m back now, and here we go.

Aly spends a lot of time denying what Ollie’s words and actions mean. Even when Ollie makes a blatantly obvious move, she finds another possible interpretation:

Tonight I’m finding a way
To make the things that you say
Just a little less obvious

And then there’s Ollie, who has a love/hate relationship with the press. The press jumps on everything he does. He can’t stand next to a woman without sixteen articles about his newest girlfriend popping up. He can’t go to a party without a new article about his alcoholism or drug addiction coming out. Ollie can always rely on the press to say something about him and he knows how to use that to his advantage, but that doesn’t mean he likes the attention:

I walk a fine line
Between the right and the real
They watch me closely
But talk is cheap here
Like a weightless currency
Your words don’t mean shit to me
I’m always cashing out
Anyway. I hope that tangent made some sense. Back to the review.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Tiffany Truitt successfully messed with my heart again and I’m not even mad. The only real criticism I have is that both guys were so great that I wasn’t even sure who I was supposed to be rooting for. I hope the other brothers end up with their own books.

Also, I’d like to start an informal petition to get someone who looks more like the Oliver that’s described in the book on the cover. I’ll nominate Andre Hamann.

Final rating: ★★★★☆

MY RATING: 5/5

I was provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Where do I start with how amazing this book this was?

While I confess that I have a weird infatuation and love for the Royal Family (hello, Kate Middleton!), I'm obsessed with books about royalty as well. Enter Royal Attraction with characters like the womanizer, Oliver Dudley, and the misguided, Aly Ryans. Both have grown up together as best friends behind the palace doors. While Aly loved or adored, Oliver's older and much more responsible brother, Aiden, Oliver was secretly falling in love with Aly as the years pass by. When one night spent together forces Aly and Oliver to confront their feelings for each other, Aly decides to flee, opting for the easier solution to things. After all, running away is easier than trying to figure out what feelings they have for each other.

What I absolutely loved about this book was the flashbacks. The flashbacks were told in such a compelling way that it made the story so much juicer than it was. What happened that night? Did Aiden share the same feelings? Is Oliver lying? Is he a jerk just like what the media paints him as?

Now, let's talk about the characters. Both Oliver and Aly are very similar. They're both very stubborn. Once Oliver's mind is set on something, he's not going to back down from it. If it means that he's going to try his best to convince Aly, he's the one right for her, he's not going to stop the next chapter. Next, we have Aly. She's stubborn and doesn't like to confront her feelings. It got pretty frustrating at one point because she kept running away from Oliver and it was just like can you please just try to hear him out! For once! Please! Just talk it out!

Aside from Oliver and Aly, I fell in love with all the characters involved especially, Aiden and Oliver's brother, Freddie, and his fiance, Sophie. Freddie and Sophie were so adorable with each other. I swooned every time they interacted. In fact, I  was so convinced that Freddie and Sophie had their own story together so I was actually ready  to search and download as soon as I finished but was severely disappointed when Tiffany Truitt told me that there was actually no series???? My heart broke. I want to read how Freddie and Sophie reached their happiness. I want to read how Aiden finds his happiness. I just want my babies to be happy.

MY RECOMMENDATION:

READ IT RIGHT NOW WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE IF YOU'RE NOT READING THIS BOOK????

Perfect, just perfect. Exactly what I needed when I was so busy with work and I needed to get my mind off things!
I loved it from the first page to the last one and I still wanted more!

The characters are wonderful, the story really lovely and it has been all brought together thanks to Tiffany's fantastic story telling!

I laughed, I chocked up a little and finally melted into a puddle!

I loved it and highly recommend it! It pushes all the right buttons, and I could not put it down!

Royal Attraction is the perfect book for someone who loves royal romances but is looking for something a little different. Alexandra's relationship with the Dudley brothers is a really different take on the traditional tropes, and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Let's start with Alex. I loved her character, mostly because she is incredibly flawed. She is haunted by her past mistakes and feels inadequate not because of her looks or anything but because she has a learning disability and I really appreciated that part of her. I liked the solace and friendship she has with the male characters in this story, like if they were the boys next door - except they are princes. The voice is hilarious and fraught with doubts and I enjoyed getting a look inside her mind.

Then there's Ollie. Oh, how I love Ollie. I love him more because he is like the boy next door, her best friend, and a prince, all in one. The way that he is portrayed as the playboy but not in a super vulgar way is refreshing. I liked that he struggles with the pressure of being a prince and being the younger brother, and why he does the things he does. I liked that the fact that he is a prince is also not really the main point, but rather a part of his internal and external conflicts. It's more focused on young adults coming-of-age than anything, with the added pressure of royal obligations.

This story is all about relationships, romantic or otherwise, and I thought they were all incredibly well-developed and adorable and great. The flashbacks to when they were children, then teenagers, did a lot to build upon a familial relationship that you immediately believe once Alex reunites with the Dudley brothers. The way the characters grow in the flashbacks, and then the way they grow in the present, is fantastic, and I think adds a depth that is sometimes lacking in other royal romance stories. You are really invested in these character's pasts and growth and friendships and just want them all to be happy.

Royal Attraction was an incredibly refreshing, romantic, hilarious story, with well-developed and believable characters that I fell in love with.
