In Boomerang Boyfriend, we meet Delia and Jack, as they are working together at the local burger joint. Jack is the brother of Delia's best friend, Zoe, and has always treated her as something like another sister, so she knows he would never go for her, and she would never have wanted him to, but with them being forced to work together, he's starting to grow on her, and soon the attraction becomes a bit too much. Can they get over their initial apprehensions to make a proper go at a relationship.

This was by first book by this author, and I found myself really enjoying it. Reading it in the middle of summer, this was the perfect time, as it was definitely cute and fun. Both characters were real, and relatable, and I definitely found myself like the whole dual pov aspect of the book. Yeah, there was some unnecessary drama, but that's to be expected if I'm honest, and all in all, I'm happy I read this one. Definitely a quick read, with excellent chemistry, perfect for the summer time.

Enjoyable easy read

The existential musings in the beginning were a huge turn off. The critical time when an author should be trying to hook a reader is spent talking about the vastness of New York and their little world. I was bored at 1%. 

I can’t stand Eve and I’m waiting patiently hoping Ben will come in and turn this ship around... he doesn’t show until halfway through. By then I just don’t care. 

Sadly, this didn’t work for me at all.

In any teen drama you need a few things. Family conflict, emotionally charged kids, and some average problems that seem like totally so much worse. This book hits all key items for this teen drama where the little sisters bestfriend and the older brother start to fall for each other. This is one of those taboo teen things. You don't fall for your bestfriends brother or sister. It can just become too awkward. Even just being regular friends can be tough if the siblings are just little kids. I've seen it happen with my brother and his girlfriend, they broke up and not only broke each others heart but also our little sisters. 

The characters were interesting in this book because they weren't made to sound so overly dramatic that teens tend to be. Jack is a mostly content kid who from time to time deals with his grief over his father and grandfather by lashing out at those closest to him. Delia is Jack's little sister Zoe's best friend. She's an artsy type that pretty much lives at Jack and Zoe's house because her parents are always away working nights. So she is mostly alone. 

I did receive a free e-copy of this book from the publisher so my review is going to be based off that and I bring that up because the following criticism might not be valid in the finalized version of the book. 

This was a nice story to read, but I do feel like there are some things that could be improved upon. One thing is the scene changes feel clunky and snapped into place. For an example Jack was upset at one point and he just walks off. He doesn't notice anyone else around him. It's like Jack "blah blah…" and he walks away. There's was nothing like "he noticed the sad look his mother gave him as he turned away" or anything like that. As an adult reader I can assume because of the mothers feelings being expressed in other scenes of the book but I feel like things like that could have added so much more to the story.

I thought this book was cute and funny at times. This book is told from two different point of views. Delia and Jack. I enjoyed this quick fun book. Delia who doesn't seem to be having much like in the boyfriend department.  Has just about given up when she starts to actually take notice in her best friend's brother Jack. She doesn't understand how she could be thinking of him in any other way except as a jerk brother. Jack who has always thought his sister's best friend was annoying. Is starting to see Delia in a different light. When both end up working together and having to share an art class together start looking at each as more then just semi friends. 
But then it seems I think they worry to much about Zoe, Jack's sister. Because it's funny how everyone already see's them as perfect together. Now I don't want to give away any spoilers so just get this book and read it. It's quick and fun.

This was such a cute and easy read that I loved and made me squeal. Being a lover of character development, I loved the change of personalities and can I work in a retro diner, because that is so cool! The snark, the wit....I LOVED!

This was a cute, fun read. Delia and Jack were an adorable couple that kept fighting their attraction (which I am a sucker for) but in the end they figured stuff out!

3.5 Stars – Cute and Fun

I love reading Entangled Teen (Crush) books. They’re fun, adorable, and easy to read. This book sounded very cute and fluffy, so of course I had to request for it. Plus the cover immediately gave me swoony feels. 

The plot was fast-paced and humorous. I had a few laughs here and there and loved it. However, there were some parts that just irked me. There’s some drama too, but it just didn’t work for me. Oh, but there were a lot of entertaining moments with dogs. And I love dogs… so I really enjoyed those parts. 

The characters were decent and somewhat relatable. I really liked Delia. She’s confident, artistic and not afraid to stand out. She’s definitely my favorite. Not sure how I feel about Jack. He’s guarded, incredibly moody, and a bit of a jerk sometimes. I know he had valid reasons, but I just couldn’t feel for him. Trevor was so funny and I liked him a lot. He kept the story interesting and fun. I didn’t care much for Aidan or Zoe. Actually, Aidan annoyed me. I see why he acted the way he did, but I just couldn’t connect with him. 

I liked Delia and Jack together, but I wasn’t crazily swooning over them. I thought their chemistry was a bit lacking and missing all the feels. I just wanted more oomph, more build-up, more intensity… just more FEELS. Nevertheless, I thought the romance was still cute and enjoyable. There were a few sweet moments between them that I really liked. They also brought out the good in each other and I liked that about them too. 

Overall, Boomerang Boyfriend by Chris Cannon is a quick, entertaining, and cute read. Even though this isn’t my favorite Entangled Teen (Crush) book and I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would, I still enjoyed it and had fun. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a nice YA contemporary that can be finished in a day or so.

This book was a really cute story! However I did have a problem with how the main character went back and forth thinking about guys when something didn't go how she wanted. It wasn't fair to those involved but did like the little bit of LGBT+ thrown in and her personality.

Gah! I loved this book so much. It is exactly the kind of book I like to read. I loved watching Jack and Delia struggle with the feelings they start feeling toward each other. I loved watching Delia slowly begin to realize that maybe Jack wasn't such a jerk after all. Chris Cannon did an excellent job showing Jack's flaws and inner struggles with the death of his father and grandfather. His reaction felt realistic and broke my heart a little bit. I just wanted so badly for him to let Delia into his life to help cheer him up a little. 

Also, the dogs in this book were SO FUN. They were the best comic relief. I loved the themes of family, togetherness, and healing. Boomerang Boyfriend left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling that lasted for days after reading.

Boomerang Boyfriend was such a cute story and just what I needed to get a break from heavier issues.

I love this kind of story. Two people who have known eachother forever and have now just realized they both have grown up. In this case it’s Delia and her best friends brother. Which brings a layer of complications since Delia is like part of their family already.

There were times that Delia’s personality was a little too much for me but at the same time I really liked that she didn’t care what people thought of her. She’s willing to be adventurous and fun and go after what she wants. She doesn’t wait for a guy to make the move, she’s not afraid to put herself out there so that she doesn’t waste her energy on something not worth it.

Jack was kind of a jerk and sourpuss in the beginning but he also lost his dad and grandpa. I think he was just struggling to living with all girls and dealing with his grief. He was rough around the edges but I think he has a good heart and Delia brings out a fun side to him. Although he was a little bit on the jealous side.

I live in Chicagoland but the setting of Canton, IL sounded familiar and I realized my husband was actually born in Canton. I actually have family that lives a little southwest from there so it is always to fun to have a setting in an area you are familiar with.

The story has some great side characters. It would be nice to see more books featuring them in their own stories. Maybe finding their own loves. I really liked how involved the parents are as well. Even Delia’s parents who work too much still have a presence. It’s always nice to see.

I really enjoyed this book and it was the fun light read I was looking for.

I just loved this couple. I loved that there was no drama. I could relate to Delia when it came to keeping her friends secret, actually have been in a situation EXACTLY like this one, and I was feeling bad for her. I think author did a great job. Her characters were real, not too perfect, not too bet, just actual average teenagers. I think many people will relate to this. To their love story, to how they know each other, to their lives, to their problems. Those were very accurate and common nowadays. 

I once again applaud the author, for not being cliché, and being real.

So this was about Delia who's falls for her best friend brother. They hated each other for years but when she starts working with him it soon seems like they might just like each other. I thought the characters were okay, I just felt as if it happened so quickly. One minute they hate each other and the next all they can think about is the other person. Its dual POV between Delia and Jack, It wasn't really much depth or character development in this story. It was really cliche and super predictable. 

Overall it was a quick cute read, just not something that wowed me.

I really enjoyed reading this book even though it was a fast read. This book is the third book in The Boyfriend Chronicles Series but can easily be read has a standalone novel. Cannon writes so that the characters seem unbelievably realistic with flaws and struggles that most teenagers go through. Even the characters reactions feel realistic and pulled at my heart strings. I really enjoyed reading about Jack and Delia as they struggle with their feelings for each other. This book is full of first love, hope, happiness, and friendship. You will laugh one minute and cry the next. I finished reading the book with a warm, fuzzy feeling that left me wanting to read more in this book series. I recommend this book for anyone who loves a good young adult romance novel.

This was a YA contemporary romance, between a girl and her best friends brother.

Delia was quite a sparkly character, and I liked her unique sense of style. Jack was a little rougher around the edges, but it was clear that they were attracted to each other.

The storyline in this was about Delia developing feelings for her best friend’s brother Jack after starting to work at the same place as him. It was quite sweet how nervous Jack was though, and how neither of them wanted to jeopardise the relationship between Delia and Jack’s sister Zoe. 

The ending to this was okay, and things seemed to work out for the best in the end.

Sweet romance, principles, and strength of character despite the pain it brings all come together in this heart-warming young adult story.

Delia is free-spirited, loves art, practically lives with her best friend, Zoe, and has no time for Zoe's orderly and annoying brother, Jack. But when Delia and Jack-the-jerk start working together, something shifts between them. Too bad there's Aidan, Delia's crush, waiting in the sidelines with a secret that threatens not only Delia's relationship with Jack, but with Zoe too...

A cute, sweet, and well-plotted story, written convincingly from an immature teen's perspective. The characters were relatable and imperfect in an authentic manner. And the romance was believable and tangible. I felt that the pacing could have been better, with fewer scenes that took you outside the main plot. An overall fun read.

I don’t particularly care about books being cliched and predictable as long as the story is really well done, this wasn’t one of those however, something was lacking for me.
I didn’t like Delia right from the get go, it felt like the author was trying way too hard to make her “not like other girls” and it has quickly become my biggest pet peeve in YA fiction. Add in the fact she was super selfish and immature - not a good mix. She also had poor coping skills and I just wanted to shake her for how she dealt with almost every single thing in the book.
Jack however, I had high hopes for. I was fully invested in all the chapters which were his POV. For about 80% of the story he seemed like the most perfect book boyfriend. He was sweet, sensitive, caring, funny and most importantly, a huge dog lover. Then my fondness for him came to a screeching halt, he started to get jealous and act out because he felt like Delia was keeping something from him…I WAS ROOTING FOR YOU. WE WERE ALL ROOTING FOR YOU. HOW DARE YOU! It was hard to come back from that for me.
I wasn’t believing the chemistry between the two main characters either, it was lacklustre. I would’ve like for there to have been more moments of them together, which really made us as the reader see why they were attracted to one another. It felt very superficial. There definitely were some cutesy moments but I would’ve liked more. 
One a positive, I loved every single part that involved the two dogs. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a Trevor and Rocky follow up! 
My three stars is purely for pre-80% Jack and the dogs.

Delia has been best friends with Zoe for forever. With both parents constantly working odd hours she has practically grown up at Zoe's house, making Zoe's family basically her family. That is, until suddenly, Zoe's jerky older brother Jack isn't so jerky. Boomerang Boyfriend uses the I-like-my-best-friend's-brother trope...and beats it with a stick. That's it, that's literally the story.

The Story-So I usually am okay with cliche story lines, as long as they are done well. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough going on in this story to bring in some stars on my rating. The story bounced between both Delia & Jack's POV, and even that didn't add much depth to the story. 

"My life would be so much easier if I liked someone who wasn't my best friend's brother. Or if he didn't like me. And who knows? Maybe he didn't."

"Holding her like this felt oddly comfortable. I realized if I leaned down just a little bit, I'd be in the perfect position to kiss her. Wait. Where is that thought coming from? I needed to snap back to reality."

Now rewrite this a few different times, alternate the points of view, throw in a lot of doggy scenes & MINOR just-a-friend drama and you have the book.

In between all that there was a lot of inconsequential filler such as

The Characters- All the characters seemed fairly believable and it was nice to just have normal characters. Everyone had their own issues going on, however, it wasn't used as a major driving factor as a character trait. Unfortunately, no one had any memorable personalities either. What I came out of thinking was that Jack's best friend Trevor's family are really irresponsible dog owners (they constantly left out food when the dog was notorious for getting into, eating, then pooping/vomiting snacks)

The Connection-I think this book would have been a lot better if it was told from just one point of view. For me with a YA romance the biggest factor besides actual plot/characters is the part that makes my heart feel like its being wrung out. Reading about how rational both characters were with dealing with their feelings sadly ruined it for me. There were no moments of miscommunication or confusion that I didn't instantly know the other side, letting me know that it will probably get worked out.

Look, pretty much anyone who knows me knows that I am a sucker for a cheesy teen romance. And that is exactly what I found here. Boomerang Boyfriend was truly a really enjoyable, light and somewhat fluffy read. I loved the characters and the way they were portrayed. Delia was such a fun character to read about - fun and spunky; and Jack was a great love interest - swoony and multi-faceted. Overall I really enjoyed this novel, it was fun to read and while it was 'cliche' it wasn't overly so.
