I LOVED this book. It's so cute. The format is not really made for kindle though. I will definitely seek out a hardback cover of this book.

This is a very simple book that my grandson liked. Each farm animal is featured in silhouette with repeated words asking where their coat is and can you tell what animal we are. My grandson liked the guessing part. I can't wait until my granddaughter is a little older to read this with her and teach her about farm animals. The illustrations going from black and white silhouettes to coloured pictures provided a great contrast. The only complaint we had was that it was not long enough. He kept asking for more animals to guess. A good book for a nursery/preschool.

Where Is My Coat? Farm Animals by Anita Bijsterbosch is a cute board book for very young children who like to play fun and simple guessing games with pictures of cozy-colored animals at play. It is a a pleasant and easy read.

Animal shapes are shown and you are asked what they are. It is very interactive. Kids will need to use their visual skills to figure out what type of animal is depicted. The illustrations are super cute and the colors draw you in. This is a good book to use for teaching animals to small children.

I received this ARC from Clavis Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Here is another "Where Is My Coat" book from Clavis. This time, horses, ducks, cows, sheep, and pigs are shown in black silhouettes, inviting the child to guess which animals are missing coats. Following the silhouettes are engaging colorful illustrations of the "mystery" animals. Cute and fun.

This book is just adorable! I really enjoyed sitting down with my 2-year-old and seeing just how much he knows about animals. He readily identified the shadows, as the author/illustrator included just enough of the animal's characteristics to be helpful. My son was really proud of himself after being able to guess all of the animals!

This book is adorable and received several "one more"s from my 2 year old son. The way the author uses a strong question for each silhouette page so the child can tell which animal is being shown is excellent. The illustrations are fun and there are opportunities for counting too. I did find the end a little abrupt but we just hopped back to the beginning. This would be great as a physical book too.

Thanks to NetGalley for the chance to check out this fun book!

This baby and toddler book prompts the child to figure out what the animal is based on its silhouette.

At a Glance:

Age Range: Newborn through toddler

Plot: Farm animal lose their coats and the reader must guess why type of animal they are.

Pros:
creative take on a common board book type
illustrations are fun and vibrant

Cons:
I wish the text was more varied, but there is something to be said for repetition in board books

Would I recommend this title: Yes!

Anytime someone can take a board book and make it fresh is a win for me. Bijsterbosch does just that with this book. On each page, the animals are presented in silhouette, and the reader must guess what the animal is. Then the reader turns the page for the big reveal. I like the high contrast between the black and white images and the the full color spreads of the animals. I think that this book would hold a baby's attention.

Where is my coat is a guessing game book. The outlines of animals are provided and the reader must help the animals find their coats. Great book for little kids who enjoy a fun activity while reading.

I loved this book, I have a daughter who I am looking to build up a little library of first books for and this one will be ideal to get her used to identifying animals and their noises - cannot wait to get to share it with her properly - 5 stars from me!!

When I read the first book of this series I didn’t like it because I was taking a “coat” as an article of clothinging. Now after book 3 a a duh moment, I remember that a “coat” can also be skin, or fur. So no complaints. A book that would work well for young kids story time.

This one is a toddler's book about identifying animals based on their silhouette (without their coat). I really liked it, my little cousin sure did enjoy it. Would have liked to see a few more animals though.

A sequel to Jungle Animals, this one figures to be more familiar, and probably less exciting because of it. Like the first one, there’s black silhouettes and the reader has to figure out what animal it is.
It’s only 12 pages, and not all of them are story. It’s over in a flash, and if the kids like it they’ll instantly want more.

This book doesn't work for me. It's more of a book of guess what animal the shapes are. I'd have to guess that maybe 4 year old would recognize the shapes of the animals, but where's my coat? makes no sense to me. What animal is this? does. Illustrations are very nice tho'., so little animal lovers may enjoy it. I'd pass myself.

First up is Where is My Coat? by Anita Bijsterbosch that will be published on November 15th, 2017. In this adorable board books, children are challenged to name what the animals are based on their silhouettes with answers provided on the second page. This book will help work with children who are just learning their farm animals or animals in general, teaching them to recognize shapes of animals.

I suggest if you're in need of some new board books in your classroom or library, this book should potentially be in that collection.

A book aimed at toddlers to stimulate development, it helpfully provides black-and-white silhouettes to encourage awareness and identification of shapes, as well as the same pictures in full colour. A fun idea which allows for a bit of guessing and game-play at story time. This is the same concept as the 'jungle animals' version, but as this features farm animals, it may be much easier for young eyes to recognise the animals; after all, youngsters are more likely to have seen farm animals than jungle animals at that point in their lives. A great aid to learning and development.

This is a great board book! It offers lots of opportunities for interaction with your children. You can work on color identification, animal identification, and animal sounds. The illustrations are brightly colored and cute. They are perfect for the title's target audience of 12 months and over.
