The book was good. I liked both main characters as they went through the story. Both characters were well written. I enjoyed the plot. I recommend.

It was a quick read but didn't really do much for me. Luke comes across pretty awfully at the end and Greer takes him back without too much groveling. The ending just seemed a bit rushed and too neat.

I received a ARC for this book via Netgalley and I am leaving a voluntary review.  I can't wait to read more from Elizabeth and her other work.  I just couldn't put this book down once I started reading it.  I so can't wait to go back and read the other three books to this series either.  You will love reading Luck and Greer's story.  They shouldn't be together but one night ruined that cause they both want more.

Shocking the Medic was a sweet & sexy read. I loved the friendship between Luke & Greer. And their sexual chemistry pretty much jumped off the page. 

I liked the setting of both being paramedics- something I haven't read much about. The author did a great job of creating a very engaging work place & friends to lovers story.

Shocking the Medic is the 4th book in thE Pulse series but can be read as a stand alone.

I really loved the strength of the relationship between Greer and Luke. I liked the steamy chemistry between them. Mostly I liked that they were friends from way back and that they each always wished for more from their relationship. Good story, strong writing.

Luke and Greer are best friends since childhood and while they were neighbors, his parents lived in the neighborhood by default, having inherited the house from the grandmother. Greer's mother is an attorney and a regular witch on a broom. She never thought Luke was good enough for Greer and Luke pretty much felt the same way. Greer did go to Law school but it wasn't a good fit for her and she missed her best friend Luke. So after a couple years of practice, she returned to school to become a Paramedic, like him. She does really well and he's teamed with her to be her partner in training.
Luke and Greer grow closer, Luke has his sights set on the Directors job, seeing that as a big step up and a way for him to provide for Greer. He and Greer grow closer until one day when their feelings just overflow and wow do these two ever steam up the pages. They know they can't really be seen together but they do their best to stay off the radar. Neither one wants to compromise the chances for his new position.
And like all good things, there's always a resident jack hat in the mix, who likes to stir the pot and wow is he offensive. Ugh! And then there's the moment when the turn out gear hits the station house floor and Luke shuts Greer down. Greer doesn't know what she's done wrong.

I enjoyed this read but at times was frustrated with both of the main characters. The medic aspect was great and the tension between the main characters rocked. There were a few instances that were a little beyond the suspension of disbelief, however. A good read. Fun and I really loved the way the author presented medics with the artistic bent of angels. That was great.

Shocking the Medic could have been so much better. It had a few things going for it - a likable heroine with an interesting job and steamy, sexy times, but the hero is a bit of a douche, and is so hot and cold with Greer that she had to have gotten whiplash from all that he put her through.

Luke and Greer have been best friends since they were children. She's the daughter of a rich, snobby lawyer for a mother and he's the son of a blue collar couple who only lived in Greer's neighborhood because his grandmother willed them her house when she passed. Luke has spent their whole friendship feeling not good enough for Greer, even though Greer never made him feel that way. No, that feeling was all because of Greer's snobby mom, and Luke's own insecurities. Now that Greer has left her law degree behind and has started working as a paramedic at Luke's station, the two are finally back together again, and Greer's ecstatic. She missed Luke while she was in college, and she wants him back in her life and this job is just the way to make that happen. She's spent their entire friendship in love with Luke, pining for him and wanting him with an intensity she has no idea is mutual. When things come to an explosive head one night after a tragic event while they're off duty, he agrees to a night in the sheets to make Greer feel better. But, he makes it clear that it's a one night only kind of thing, and after that, they go back to friends only. Not only is fraternizing against their station's rules, it will harm Luke's chances for the promotion he's been angling for.

Poor Greer, though, because even though Luke insisted it was a one night only thing, he can't seem to keep his hands off her, and constantly sexes her up, further clouding her mind and her heart, giving her the idea that there's a chance for them to be together, even if they have to keep it a secret. But, when he blows her off, in a really cruel way, at her mother's birthday party, she finally has her answer - Luke doesn't love her like she does him, and he doesn't want to be in her life, at all, not even as friends, that their time in the sheets together was just his way of blowing off steam the way he's always done, and further proof that his manwhore reputation is justly deserved.

I was hurting for Greer. She didn't deserve the way Luke blew her off. Yes, she was a bit naive and lacked a bit of spine before that, but she most definitely didn't deserve what he did to her. So, I was really hoping she'd stick to her guns and keep ignoring his halfhearted attempts at talking. Because, honestly, after what he said to her, nothing short of groveling at her feet and kissing said feet AND her ass, would have been enough for her to even consider talking to him again. Unfortunately, Greer's soft heart, and the love she had for him, as undeserved as it was, wouldn't let her keep him in the doghouse. Then came the abrupt epilogue and the 180⁰ move by one of the most ridiculous characters in the story, and then it was over, and I was left thinking, what?! That's it?!

So, unlikable, douchy hero and rushed ending left me very unsatisfied. Greer deserved better, the reader deserved better, and neither of us got what we deserved. Hence the 3 stars that really should be 2, but I liked Greer, so I'll stick with 3 stars.

This is a friends to lovers story. Luke is a paramedic who is trying to get a chiefs position, and even though he wants his best friend and temporary partner bad, he knows he shouldn't go their with Greer. Greer has just finished law school but decided to become a paramedic instead, she doesn't know what she wants to do, only that she missed her best friend and has always been attracted to him. What do they do? Do they give in, does Luke finally get a clue or will it finally be too late?

I'll start my review with saying that the writing was good. I didn't like Luke because he was very immature. I don't like heroes who think they are not good enough for the heroine, and then they proceed to whore themselves for years before finally coming to their senses. Greer on the other hand was great and I loved her. There story is not too bad and sexy times are done ok it's just Luke I had problems with.
I would still recommend this book!

What a fantastic book! Luke and Greer were one of those couples that stole your heart from the beginning. I felt part of their struggle and was constantly rooting for them. The forbidden love that they fought made it so I couldn’t put it  down. There is angst, action, and passion. Everything rolled into one book! Elizabeth Otto...you have another winner. This was an ok enough read for me. It was short and fast, but it didn't blow me away.

I enjoyed Luke and Greer's story,best friend since children when they lived next to each other Greer came from money where Luke's family inherited their home and worked really hard to keep it.Luke did not think he was good enough for her and her mother agreed which really annoyed me.When they end up working together things change and they spend the night together.

Luke, a paramedic, is hoping to become the leader of his station, and as such needs to make sure he's above reproach. However, when Greer joins his station instead of pursuing the lawyer career as the rest of her family has, he knows denying their feelings is going to be almost impossible.

When Greer seeks comfort from Luke following a bad day, apparently his bed has healing powers, he bluntly tells her it's a one time thing because he wants the promotion. Yeah, he just told his best friend, the woman he's always wanted and loved, that she's essentially a ONS, and not as important as a job title. Nice. Grr.

Greer knows who and what she wants, and that's Greer and to live her life as she sees fit, not according to her family's wishes. Of course, according to her family, Luke isn't good enough for her and she's wasting her time as a paramedic.

Will Greer finally get everyone in her life to see it's her choice to live it the way she wants? Will Luke stop hiding behind excuses and go after who he wants? Is a HEA possible?

Shocking the Medic by Elizabeth Otto was a good friends to lovers read.

The writing is well done, the storyline was entertaining all throughout the book and I loved watching Luke and Greer's relationship unfold.
They were likable, relatable characters and the chemistry between them was hot!
You will definitely want to read this one.
Shocking the Medic is a good addition to the Pulse series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them.

I am a huge fan of stories on best friends to lovers and this one does not disappoint.  Luke being very proud, doesnt think he is good enough for his best friend Greer.  Greer a lawyer gives it all up to work with Luke as a paramedic and with the no fraternizing rule on the job they have to sneak around with each other.  With pressure coming from Greers mother and Lukes hope for a promotion can their love survive or ate the destined to be apart forever. You will just have to read it to find out.

Great book! I have always been a sucker for a friends to lovers storyline. Shocking the Medic does not disappoint. The author has a way of making the characters come to life and making you feel apart of the story. Who doesn't love a story where a girl has loved a boy her whole life and good things come to those who wait! Don't pass this one up, you will enjoy it!

greer has been in love with luke since she was a kid. and when she leaves behind a promising law career to work alongside luke as an emt in shocking the medic her mother thinks she's crazy. and she is crazy, about luke. luke has also been in love with greer since forever. but he's always felt inferior to her, given her family's wealth and the much lower social status of his. when she joins the paramedic unit, he finds himself on equal ground with her for the first time ever. and given his aspirations and the opportunity for advancement he might just feel worthy enough to pursue her.

and he totally would, except there's a strict no-fraternization policy that he can't breach because it would endanger the very opportunity that makes him feel like he has a chance of pursuing greer.

there's a lot of silly circular logic keeping these two apart. i should say that it's not that they stay apart, but more that they don't actually admit the breadth of their feelings for one another. sometimes the fact that the problems these two leads face are mostly in their heads makes for some frustrating moments. but the story moves quickly so in the end you aren't left feeling too frustrated by the characters. this is an enjoyable steamy category romance.
