The Lady Who Loved Lightning is a fun easy read which makes for a nice change.
The author gives the reader an interesting take on the usual type of book in this category stretching the imagination as they delve into a fascinating alternative existence way into the future
I feel like I'm missing something important to fully enjoy this story. It was a fun read, but I continually felt like I was missing a piece. The style was a bit odd but enjoyable, and I think had I read the other books this would have been an easier read. I'll have to read the other books in the series and re-read this one. I think getting used to the author's style would also help as I was sometimes lost. Will revisit after I get a chance to read the previous books.
Having not read the previous novels I struggled at first with the characters and storyline.
The story itself felt old fashioned and left me feeling that this was a edit of stories told years ago.
A disappointing ending to the story.

An interesting premise that falls flat due to stylistic issues. The problem is purely stylistic as it reads like a script dashed out for a Sci-Fi television series or movie with absolutely no description, time frame (other than established in the book) or sense of place. Also, the speakers in this attempt at rapid fire dialogue that is used to create the feeling of crisis or future, have no definable sense of voice, causing the reader to constantly track back to the speaker tags to determine what is going on.
The story is lost, characters (including the world the write should be building), and any connections the reader should have to them is completely destroyed.
Also, putting a book 4 that requires a reviewer to have read books 1-3is disingenuous.

Very interesting take on the future with an eclectic group of people. The writing style took awhile to get used to, but about 2/3 into it I finally had a grip on who was who and the flow of the story. There were many details that were alluded to but never clarified. I kept wondering what I had missed. The ending was really bazaar. But if you like futuristic sci-fi, you will probably enjoy the book...I did by the end.
