I have always been fascinated with Michal’s story in the Bible. I thought it portrayedMichal as a strong protagonist. She has to choose between her father or David. My only complaint was that I wish it was longer. Still, I recommend this for fans of Jill Eileen Smith, India Edgehill, and Angela Hunt.

I really enjoyed reading this book, although there were some things I didn't appreciate. The author has made this story come to life, and stuck very closely to the Biblical account, which I liked very much. Michal is a much more vivid character to me now! The only part I didn't like was the occasional, somewhat explicit, references to marital intimacy. If those had not been included, I would have highly recommended this book to my friends. That being said, I did appreciate and enjoy much of the book, especially a conversation between Michale and Mephibosheth, when he sarcastically said, “I missed the part where God is supposed to comply with our wishes.”

Daughter of the King is a very well written biblical story of King Saul's daughter Michal and her love for David. If you love biblical fiction I recommend this book.

Daughter of the King is an amazing story of Princess Michal - King David's wife - who wasn't a King at the time - when Saul went a little mad - he wanted to kill David - so she helped him escape and so her father - King Saul - well lets just say she became a wife to a war lord - yrs go by and David becomes King and wants his first wife back and he sends for her return and this is where this book starts off - Roman soldiers show up and the evil warlord's house and demanded to take her - he wasn't going to do it but you don't say no to a contingent of soldiers - she was afraid to death - she had no idea if she was going to be taken and killed because of her father - she didn't know what had happened to her father - she didn't care she wanted out of that awful house - anywho - she goes and then things are wonderful then there are so many twists and turns and hurts - my heart just broke to death for her - and then ........I shall not say anymore to ruin it - but this book was phenomenal - it was amazingly intelligently thought out - you felt like you were there with her - astoundingly accurate when it came to Biblical storyline. I loved it - yup I used the L word. You will too.

I received this ARC copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. So thank you netgalley and publishers.
This is a story about a beautiful princess, a king that God chose, and what might have happened back in those days, a lot of Biblical story's don't give us a lot of detail so that leaves plenty of room for us to imagine how they would have handled things back then.
The title and cover art is what attracted me to this book, then I realized it was biblical I knew I had to have it! I adore biblical time periods and biblical stories!! Princess Michal daughter of King Saul, recounts the love she shared with David on his journey from shepherd to King of Israel. I recommend this book to all readers, especially those who love historical romances and the bible ♡ This is my first book by this author and I can tell you now it won't be my last!!! I will be buying the hard copy so I can pass it down to my daughter one day ♡ 5 stars ♡

“Scripture is truth. Daughter of the king is fiction”

The story follows Michal the daughter of King Saul, growing up as a princess: having to deal with her father slipping in and out of his sanity, her budding love for David, puberty and getting married at young age.

The story doesn’t derail from the scripture account of how Michal’s story unfolded. A princess in every right but it didn’t shield Michal from suffering. Her love for David ruled her life. She made sacrifices for him that almost caused her to be rejected by her father.
Something we have accepted that things never go as planned as someone’s dream is cut short; a new pact is made in the middle of this there is hope.
Michal gets reunited with her first love but life does not remain the same. How does she survive losing something, getting it back but does not seem like it? This book is about love, survival, betrayal, broken hearts, letting go and God.

“I should have told Tirzah to thank God for the gift of poverty. She may not understand what a great blessing it is that Joash would never be able to support an additional wife. Will she know to cherish that her husband belongs to her alone?”

MY OPINION

“Bida was particularly mean to Michal often referring to her contemptuously as ‘Her Royal Lowness’

This book is beautiful. There is no other word that comes to my head than ‘beautiful’. I must say it is carefully written. I think one of the hardest things to write is Christian fiction. The writers should be applauded for carefully segueing from one chapter to another. The rhythmic flow of bible verses subtly developed into chapters provides a rich knowledge of the book.
I wish I had a physical copy of this book; I would have drawn heart shapes all over.

“There used to be poetry in our union”

This book is beautifully written. It is a compelling book that you cannot put down until the last page. I like that every chapter starts with a bible verse. The connection between different events in the bible is outstanding.
Honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The authors didn’t try too hard. They make me want to develop love for Christian fiction.
Prior to reading this book, I had a nebulous knowledge about David and Michal, the old testament in general. This book will help you know things. Its fiction you might say but it is carefully written. It is not like the scriptures were thrown out of the whole book.
The saddest part of the book was chapter thirty-six Bible Verse:

“And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart” II Samuel 6:16

I was like Michal; “ I was rooting for you”. With this book, I was happy and wanted to know more about David.

SHOULD I READ?
Please, totally read this book. 4.5/5
