I didn't realize that this was the second in a series, but even without reading the first book I quite enjoyed this one. This is definitely a romance driven novel - with a nice build up of two very different women who have a strong attraction but a bit of baggage. Emerson has dropped out of medical school to follow her passion to become an artist and is finding some success. Darcy is a single mother of an 8 year old son and wants to protect both herself and Liam from becoming attached to someone who may not stick around. This is a bit of a slow build, with Emerson building a relationship with Darcy and her son and I really liked the interactions between Emerson and Liam. Darcy was a bit too protective at times and there were a few times where her reactions/actions were a bit over the top. Overall, I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading the next in the series.

I've really enjoyed Aurora Rey's other books, so I looked forward to this one's release. I was happily surprised to see that it contained characters from WINTERS HARBOR. Although it can be read as a stand-alone story, it was nice to see a little continuation of Alex and Lia's story too.
I really liked getting to know Darcy more in this book, and I loved Emerson's character. The dynamic of their relationship was sweet and there was hot sex too. Emerson was extremely patient and I respect Darcy for making all efforts to be a great Mom. All in all, this is a great story that I had trouble putting down. I won't hesitate to purchase anything Aurora Rey puts out.

I have read all of Ms. Rey’s books and have thoroughly enjoyed them. This one is the second book in the Cape End romance series. The storyline of “Summer’s Cove” begins about 2 years after “Winter’s Harbor”. In “Winter’s Harbor” Lia and Alex meet and fall in love. This second book begins with Lia and Alex’s wedding.

There are three main characters. Darcy Belo, who is a single mother and chef at Lia and Alex’s restaurant, is very reserved about mixing her family life with her dating life. Darcy’s 9-year son Liam is a very precocious, likeable boy. Emerson Lang is an artist and a very good friend of Lia and Alex. Darcy and Alex meet at Lia and Alex’s wedding. Although it was just a brief encounter, the sparks fly.

Ms. Rey writes a very nice romance. It is well developed and smooth. The story is very believable and makes you feel good. You are not presented with inappropriate language or excessive sex.

I recommend this romance and give this book 4-1/2 out of 5 stars.

Apparently this is the second book of an ongoing series. Guess I didn't read that one but it in no way prevented me from enjoying this one. I can't say anything really grabbed me in this book but equally I couldn't say I disliked it. Sometimes I wonder why authors add kids into the mix. Don't get me wrong sometimes they really do work. Other times? well I'm not so sure.

I honestly felt that the two main characters didn't really gel, and that's where the kid came in. I felt he had more chemistry with his mother's partner. No that isn't weird until you reread it. What I mean is that he got on really well with his mother's partner. They seemed to really connect.

It is a really nice story. Being from the UK I have to admit Provincetown does bring out the curiosity in me. Overall it was a decent enough story but I don't think I would read. Enjoy!

I was unable to review this book because of a conflict in my schedule. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused the publisher or the author of the work. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to review for you and I look forward to reviewing for you in the future.

Sorry I wasn't really into this book and I couldn't force myself to read it. The writing is good but I couldn't connect with the characters, sorry.

3.5 stars

I was captured by the characters and the setting, but the lack of palpable chemistry and significant conflict made the read a little flat. Emerson and Darcy liked each other from their first meeting and their dating process was relatively smooth.

I liked both Emerson and Darcy, and Darcy's son Liam. I have an 8 year old and I thought Liam was written realistically, bright for his age and nerdy, but still in need of cuddles and attention.

First I have an admission to make. I may have given this book three fourths of a star simply because it had a Myrtle the Turtle mention in it. (What can I say, I love Myrtle!!!)

But, to the story itself. It's about Emerson and Darcy. They both live in/around Provincetown on the Cape and know people in common although they're not friends. Then their friends Alex and Lia get married, or more specifically have their wedding, and Darcy is the caterer for the reception, and meets Emerson, who is the photographer for the wedding (although she's usually a painter).

They get closer, but there are multiple road blocks in their way, like the fact that Darcy has the cutest kid, Liam, and is very very compartmentalized because of it.

Emerson on the other hand can sometimes get really lost in her head and that doesn't go great with Darcy's issues.

It was cool seeing Lia and Alex again (from the previous book Winter's Harbor). And them being there thankfully didn't overwhelm the new burgeoning romance between Emerson and Darcy.

And woo, it's a series (or at least a trilogy I think) but even if we only get these two books, they've been totally awesome.

I was given this ARC by Netgalley on behalf of Bold Strokes Books.

Emerson Lange knows that life comes with no guarantees. After her parents’ unexpected deaths, she drops out of medical school and moves to Provincetown to pursue her real passion—art. Darcy Belo is also no stranger to life’s unexpected twists and turns. She never expected to become a single mother at twenty-two, but she has no regrets over moving back home or the life she’s built with her son.

A chance meeting at a wedding sparks an instant attraction between them, but pursuing it is not without complications. Neither woman is looking for love, but when their summer romance reveals the promise of so much more, each of them must confront their notions of love, the future, and what it means to be a family.

I actually enjoyed this book so, so much! The first few chapters gave off an Imagine Me & You vibe, and, since this movie is a guilty pleasure of mine (seriously, just watch it for Lena Headey), I was really excited to see where the story was going. And it did not disappoint.

What I didn’t know going into this book was that it’s the second in a series; but, worry not, it works perfectly well as a stand-alone and the characters and overall plot can hold their own.

Was it a life-changing read? Probably not, but it was so fun -and liberating- to see two queer women falling in love, not dealing with any form of hate or homophobia, and just get a cheesy, romantic story. I loved that it was a story about two women in their late 20s- early 30s, and that the story put a biracial woman and a single mother in the spotlight. I especially loved Darcy’s scenes with Liam, and Emerson’s developing relationship and bonding with him almost had me in tears. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I am a sucker for good, well-developed family dynamics, and this book is no exception.

Overall, Summer’s Cove is just a very enjoyable read. A cute, light read, perfect for a lazy weekend.

Great follow up to Winters Harbor. Great characters and dialouge; could not put this one down. Highly recommend.

Summer's Cover was a quick read, but it really elicited nothing special in me, as the reader.

I didn't fall in love with the characters and didn't much care for one of them enough to want to know what happened and root for her.

My biggest pet peeve in LGBT books is that all the characters are lesbian or gay. While I can understand and appreciate the thought of spending time with people like yourself, it really makes you suspend reality so much that it becomes a bit annoying.

I really enjoy this author and this series. When I read the first book I had no idea it would become a series so I was pleasantly surprised. Now the next one she writes needs to be about Will!

You don't really need to read Winter's Harbor to read this book but it does help put you in the mood and vibe of P-Town. Plus, this book starts off with the wedding of Lia and Alex which was nice to see. I do wish she had said how much time has passed. Obviously the last book was Winter and this is Summer but was it the following Summer...a year later...two years?? My OCD with timelines needs to know!

As the description says, this book centers on Alex's cook Darcy and her photographer friend Emerson. Both characters were great but I loved Liam, Darcy's son, the best. He was adorable and his interactions with Emerson were both hilarious and heartwarming. I did want Darcy to break down her walls more than she did, but they were still cute together and the relationship blossomed pretty well.

I'd definetly recommend this book. Great new series!

I think this is the first lesbian love story I've read. It had a story line I liked about a single mother that worked hard to make a good living for her young son. I found it a little strange that Emerson and her sister were both gay, the bakery owner where Darcy worked was gay and the father of Darcy's son was gay. I'm not familiar with gay culture so I don't know if this is typical or not.

This is the second book in the series A Cape end but it reads fine as a stand alone novel. It's the story of Darcy, a single-mother of an 8 year-old boy and Emerson, a single artist and photographer. As their attraction develops, so does Darcy's reluctance to open up to a relationship that could potentially expose her son Liam and herself to a heartbreak. Darcy decides to keep Emerson at arm's length but everything backfires when her son and Emerson become friends. Will Darcy see through her own fears and overprotective instincts to welcome Emerson to their lives?

The story has an interesting potential and, generally speaking, the book is well written. Unfortunately, for me it wasn't enough to enjoy it or to move me emotionally. Why? A big part of this is due to the way Ms. Rey presents her main characters. As a mother of an 8 year-old boy myself, I understand Darcy's protection instincts but I was annoyed with her obsession to control their emotions. Additionally, the events of the last few chapters are a big change of heart for the character and feels a bit unrealistic. Emerson, on the other hand, is portrayed as an stoic glorious butch who develops a rather fast attachment to Darcy and Liam, probably due to her own family history. Emerson is believable and definitely more likeable, so much so that in some parts I wanted her to run away from Darcy. Not a very good feeling when reading a romance. However, the intimate scenes describe all the chemistry that is absent outside the bed. But the transition from casual to committed relationship just didn't work for me.

Overall, 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. An ok read.

Darcy Belo is a single mom, works as a chef and has no intentions of falling in love again. Tried once to not only having her heart broke but even worse having her son’s broke also. Emerson Lange was on a path to become a doctor but after the death of her parents she has decided to follow her dream of becoming a artist. She’s happy but lonely having never found “the one”, the woman she wants to spend her life with.and never did she see herself falling for a ready made family. Follow Darcy and Emerson as they travel from possible friendship to finding the love they have both been looking for.Very nice read. This isn’t the first book I’ve read by AR and hopefully it won’t be the last. Her writing just keeps getting better. Nice read.

I've read the authors previous books and they are all a nice balance of romance, fun and just the right amount of angst. The characters are fleshed out and Darcy's kid adds another dimension to her relationship with Emerson. Darcy and Emerson are very different people yet attracted to each other. While the main characters in many books tend to find each other perfect, both Darcy and Emerson had their doubts about each others personality. Especially Emerson did not like Darcy's strictness from the beginning. It adds a bit more reality to the story. The side story of Lia and Alex is also a nice touch. I look forward to another book from this author.

A very good romance with nice plot and setting and some well done characters. The kid character was amazingly good. I liked a lot the relational dynamics between him and one of the leads. It's the best part of this story. The other lead, kid's mom, was a control freak most of the time and kind of a pain to deal with. I didn't like her much and knocked one star off because of her.
Recommended to all fans of romance novels with a kid in tow

This book deals with the doubts of a single mother to start a relationship, then allow it to become serious and trust the woman she is dating to be part of her and her son's life.
The book developes the romantic relationship between Darcy, the single mother, and Emerson,  who is a woman who decided to live her dream of being an artist after losing her parents.
The lives of both women are very different. Darcy prioritizes everything to the needs of his son Liam, who is an almost perfect child. Emerson has no worries in her life and she lives it carelessly and without too much order or routines. The crash of both lifestyles causes some dramatic, although not unbearable situations, and Darcy ends up lowering the barriers that she has created around her and Liam.
Slightly slow in some parts, in short, the book has been interesting enough for me.

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. I do recommend reading the first book in the series. First, you do not have to, but it will get you to know the characters and situations before you start this book. This was a good romance; I just felt the lack of chemistry between the two female leads. I loved how Darcy had a son, this little boy is fantastic and is part of the reason I liked the book. I loved how he and Emerson had such a connection and similarities. This is a good feel good romance.
