I have read a previous book in this series. The “crimes” are different but the DI stays the same (Lottie Parker).

If you read them out of order it’s fine, however you will miss out and have to piece together Lotties life. What a colourful character she is!

The plot is both gripping and “not put downable “ as it really does grip you.

It’s been over a year since I’ve read a Detective story as I was getting bogged down with the samesness.

It’s nice to take a break from a genre now and again. Well, was for me.

Gripping read.

The Lost Child Detective Lottie Parker Book 3 by Patricia Gibney.
They placed me in here and threw away the key. I look down at the gown they’ve put on me. I want my own clothes. I don’t know how long I’ve been here..
A very good read with good characters. I do like this author and series. 4*.

I have recently started this series and was pleased to move onto book 3. Lottie Parker is a character that I really enjoy reading about even though she has serious issues and isn’t actually a pretty selfish and screwed up woman (but in a likeable way if you know what I mean). Her colleague Boyd is back alongside her other colleagues Kirby and Lynch and they are as usual assigned to the newest murder. In this case its the death of an elderly woman who is found in her daughters house.

I have to say I enjoyed the actual murder case storyline less than the last two in this book, however the personal elements of the story mad up for that in my opinion. In addition to the murder enquiry we see Lottie’s friend Annabelle in her own crisis of a situation. IN addition we see Lottie’s relationship and more development of this in terms of her Mother, three kids and grandchild.

The murder case they are working made the story at times a little muddled as there was so much going on, but eventually it gained traction. Boyd her colleague is as usual taking the abuse that Lottie dishes out, but by the end of the book he was the best person to be there for her. The ending was a corker and made me want to just go straight through to book 4, but I’m trying to pace myself. I think this read was a little more middle of the road but the series is definitely one I am keen to continue.

This is the third in the Lottie Parker series and in my opinion is the best one yet . Here she investigates the death of an elderly lady which becomes more interesting when it is revealed that the womans daughter is missing. We also get to find out more about Lottie's family and her interesting backstory. A gritty roller coaster with plenty of twists, another great read from Patricia Gibney.

A mystery, crime thriller with a female heroine you can root for. This thriller is surprisingly interesting and kept me guessing throughout. I’d highly recommend to readers who enjoy crime thrillers.

This is already the 3rd book in the Lottie Parker series and bloody hell, they just get better and better.
I love the way Lottie doesn't take nonsense from criminals, and even though this book became a little personal with her and her life, the way she handled it was so well done!! Brilliantly written, and highly recommended.

I have to admit one of the greatest thing I’m finding about this series is that all the books are so different (Previous gushes on Ms. Gibney’s books-The Missing Ones is here and The Stolen Girls here ) and memorable. Also from the second I pick one up, and put it down, just hours/ a day or two later, I’m looking forward to the next. Again a Lottie Parker that never disappointed.

There’s so much going on in this book, with Lottie floundering as she struggles with her mother (who I love by the way) and a tough back story of neglect and abuse of a girl we don’t know as well as the startings of domestic abuse now, in Lottie’s juristiction. This meant there were various threads going on at the same time, stories that you couldn’t fathom would all end up being connected and my eyes ingested every last word.

We are of course back in Ragmullin (makes zippy uppy action with fingers-I will not say it;)), and in the brilliantly done police station where there’s general chaos and sometimes disinterest too and I beyond savoured these pages.

I will admit that firstly, this was a little bit of a tougher read for me in terms of descriptions and secondly that there was the odd time near the start of the book that I had to re-read as I found it confusing. Saying that, well, look, 448 pages and as a book blogger I generally head to the shorter books quicker than the longer ones (I know-Lengthest, but I do do it), but this is a series I will ALWAYS go to first and if the others and this one are anything to go by, I will always be gutted when I’m done. Excellent book, perfection in setting, characters, mystery, and the now trademark sarcasm and comedy thrown in by Parker and Boyd. Loved it.

Thanks so much to Bookouture and Netgalley for this book in return for an honest review.

Book 3 in the DI Lottie Parker series and I can honestly say this series just keeps getting better and better. I was completely glued to this book from the first page . It is an absolute rollercoaster of a read and by the end I was left reeling . A well deserved five star read in my opinion.

The third book in this series and the best one yet! I really think Gibney has hit her stride with this one. Lottie is getting stronger as a character --even though , st first I thought she was kinds bitchy at the beginning of this story. As for the syory, I thought it was a great mystery . Lottie and her team find themselves solving murders and a possible drug ring. The story takes place in present time but we also get glimpses of the past through the pov of twins 40 years ago. Somehow everything is connected . ..but how? Lottie has her work cut out but will she have a meltdown before she solves the crime? Highly addictive with an ending you won't see coming!

Wow, wow, wow. This is easily Patricia’s best book yet and without doubt one of the best books that I have read in 2017. There’s so many twists, layers and intricacies in the story that by the near end of the book my brain almost exploded. I am in awe of the tale that Patricia has spun here and just how well she kept me guessing right up until the end. Cannot recommend it more highly.

I have been enjoying my time with detective Lottie Parker so far, and this third book The Lost Child has been one of my most anticipated releases last year. Why? Lottie Parker somehow never fails to deliver another suspenseful and thrilling adventure, and both the writing and plot development have always been excellent. The Lost Child is no exception. Book number three is without doubt another great read and provides us with yet another exciting story and more mystery around what really happened to the main character’s father. And while I do think I enjoyed it a tiny bit less than the first two books for reasons I can’t exactly put my fingers on, I had a great time reading The Lost Child and any fan of the genre will probably feel the same. I’m looking forward to the fourth book, which is scheduled to be published in March!

I have read all the books in the Lottie Parker series thus far, and each one is a gritty, substantial read. This particular book was no exception.

Lottie finds herself involved in a case that seems to have so many threads, that it is almost impossible to keep track of. There are murders, family mysteries, relationship shocks, mental illness and addictions in this book, so far from an easy read. Nevertheless, it was intense in a good way and had me turning the pages faster and faster, until I got to the very end, where a huge secret is revealed. A secret I had no clue about until I read about it, so clearly the author knows her stuff!

I can't wait to read the next book in the series, it really is brilliant. 5 well deserved stars :)

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

The Lost Child is book 3 in the Lottie Parker series. A series well worth reading. And as I always say the series is better when read in order, but that again is just my opinion.
It's not so long ago I read the first book by this very talented story teller, and here I am reading book 3. It's safe to say, each book get's better and better, as we learn more about the characters it really helps build up the stories.
I'm loving the character of Lottie Parker. This is one of those stories though that it could be so easy to say to much about the story. I'm worried of giving to much away so will just keep it brief.
When Tessa Ball is found murdered, its down to Detective Lottie Parker and her partner Detective Boyd to investigate. They soon discover that the victim’s daughter is missing as well, they start to fear for the safety of the whole family.
The investigation takes them on huge journey, and it turns up a lot more along the way.
Lottie certainly puts in the work, a mother and a Detective this is one busy woman. How she copes is not ideal and Lottie really does have some serious issues, this I find makes her a much more realistic character.
We also learn a lot more in this book about Lottie's mother and father, and the back history of what has happened is thrilling.
This is another great read, and I really do feel that this series of books will become huge, the more we get to know the characters, the more interesting the books seem to be.

This is a busy, twisty mystery with a lot of characters and a lot of things to follow and keep in mind. While I think the writing is good, there is a lot going on.

Deective Lottie Parker and her team are called in when a woman’s body is found her own home. It’s believed to Marian Russell, the homeowner, discovered by her teenage daughter Emma. It turns out to be Tessa Ball. - Marian’s mother = so where is Marian. A complex investigation follows with more bodies and no clear motive. Lottie is struggling to juggle her work and home life and is still determined to find out the truth about her father’s suicide. This case might just help her discover more but will she like what she finds out? Absolutely love this series and cant wait for book number 4.

Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Patricia Gibney for the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

After an elderly woman was found murdered in her home, Detective Parker and her partner Detective Boyd investigate. Thinking it is an open and shut case, a classic blame the ex-husband, DI Parker assumes it will be easy to prove guilt especially since his daughter (granddaughter of the murdered woman) goes missing.

Add the fact that two days after murder, a nearby house goes up in flames with a dead body count that is hard to keep track of! Is there a connection? Does DI parker really want to start digging deeper only to find answers she might not be willing to hear?

This was a great page turning classic Detective/Murder case with many twists that keeps you guessing until the end. We liked it a lot and received it through NetGalley for an honest review. We didn’t realize that this is book #3 in the Detective Lottie Parker series so we look forward to reading others!

Detective inspector Lottie Parker and detective Sergeant Boyd get the call to investigate the murder of a woman found dead in her daughter’s home. The daughter Marion is...well, nowhere to be found. Naturally, all eyes are on her as suspect Number 1. But is Marion’s life actually in grave danger as well?

This is book three in the very popular series, but could easily be a stand-alone. Although I must admit, this was my least favorite so far. The story seemed overly complex, with too many characters jumping back and forth between timelines. It takes a lot to lose me in a storyline but I just couldn’t keep up with this one. By the time the big reveals took place, I had completely checked-out.

On the positive side...is Lottie and her family. With three growing children and a grand baby filling the house, Lottie has her hands full (again) keeping everyone safe and happy. With each successive book, it seems she’s got to face down more and more demons. And she may have just met her match here.

I know I will be an outlier for this one. There are many fantastic reviews out there by very loyal fans to this series. So please, Judge for yourself and I hope it works better for you than it did for me. I hope to be back on board with loving the series with the release of book four!

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Patricia Gibney for an ARC to review.

An woman is found murdered in her daughter's home, discovered by her teenage granddaughter and Lottie Parker and Detective Boyd are on the case. Then they discover that her daughter is missing too.

A fire a few days later adds to the growing body count and they soon realise the crimes are connected not just to eachother but possibly to Lottie's father's suicide years before...

Part three of this already in less than a year. To be honest that did worry me a little. Even more so in that these aren't particularly short novels. Was this going to be a case of quantity over quality? Well all I can say is either Patricia Gibney has been sat on these books and is drip feeding them to us or she's a power house of writing. Because the quality hasn't slipped. She's had three bloody good novels in less than twelve months. I can barely write an email in that time. There's a few questionable moments (would there really be a romantic moment in a barn while looking for a missing girl - it jarred a wee bit) but on the whole it's an enjoyable thriller with a great cast of characters. I'll be looking out for part four (it'll probably be out next week!).
