This is a quick fun read, very Bridget Jones like. The story takes place in London. Ashleigh stays behind to be with her boyfriend while her family moves to America. Then she breaks it off with said boyfriend. Her no good cheating ex wants her back and will stop at nothing for another chance. When she meets Dave he is too good to be true. Everything is going great then her girl's weekend comes along. Now she is worried he will cheat on her on while she is gone thanks to her cheating ex. While she is gone Dave is sexually assaulted while he is asleep by a drunk girl that his flatmate brought home. Now what? Does he tell her? Does he pretend it never happened? How will she react? Good read.

Gut Feeling is a lovely story about friends and second chance. Ashley is afraid to trust a man after a heartbreak. She must decide whether or not she's ready. With the love and support of her friends, it's an engaging story. The characters are loveable and fun. The plot is intriguing and unfolds at a good pace. Good read!

Cute book that shows how a women starts gaining confidence in herself and allows herself to ask for what she deserves when it comes to a romantic relationship. The ending tied up the plot a little too quickly at the end for my liking, but overall I liked it.

Got very boring very quickly and the main character was so self pitying it was pathetic. Very disappointing

A good book has you so engaged with the characters that you find yourself talking to them and/or thinking about their situation when you're away from the book. This was my experience reading Victoria Browne's latest offering. Gut Feeling was actually gut wrenching for me due to the drawn out development of the plot. The main character did strike me as being a little too melodramatic, and I found her quite frustrating toward the end, but overall, the book was a nice read.

Not for me, unfortunately. An easy read, that seems to start off with so much potential but just fizzles. There isn't much character development or any real description to be honest. The main character is understandably gun shy when it comes to relationships but then jumps into a seemingly serious one right away? Not believable at all. It really did have so much potential.

Thanks to NetGalley and Neville House Publishing for the review copy of Gut Feeling by Victoria Browne.

When Ashleigh’s relationship with boyfriend Lee breaks down after he cheats on her, she finds herself spiralling into a cycle of drinking too much and being hungover. Her family have moved to the US, leaving her feeling alone in London, especially missing her sister Kelly. When she agrees to do overtime at the dental practice she works in, she doesn’t expect to meet Dave. The two quickly hit it off and begin a relationship. But when Ashleigh goes on a girl’s holiday to Ibiza, she wonders if she can trust Dave to remain faithful to her. When she gets home and hears rumours of an incident between Dave and another girl, Ashleigh fears this will be a case of history repeating itself.

Although this was an easy read, unfortunately, I didn’t get on with this book very well. I found the characters to be very flat, and found Ashleigh especially irritating. With chick-lit, I think you always need to root for the main character, but I found myself getting annoyed with her instead. I understand the idea is that she’s been burned before, and so she is worried about jeopardising her new relationship, but honestly, it was all too much. Forget making mountains out of mole-hills, she was making mountains out of ant-hills. More than once I found myself saying out loud “Oh, come ON!” Dave was unfortunately just as bad. For a romantic lead, he was a bit of a wet blanket.

I also found the writing a bit strange. Around halfway through the book, Dave’s brother Pete went from speaking perfectly normal English to being all “Alright bruv”, “Nah, she weren’t ‘ere”, etc. I felt like I’d been transported to the set of Eastenders. Very odd.

It’s a real shame, because this book follows the standard chick-lit formula, and could have been so much better.

2 stars out of 5

Gut Feeling is out now.

Gut Feeling is a cute book about doubting yourself, your feelings and your significant other. It moves at a comfortable enough pace that allows the reader to understand the why’s of the doubts and to hope for a happy ending.
The main female character, Ashleigh, stayed in London when her family moved to the US. Her reason for staying was to be with her boyfriend but he dumps her and leaves her devastated. Enter Dave who she meets when he comes to fix a window at her work. They hit it off but complications and misunderstandings mar the path to a whole relationship.

A great little chic-lit holiday read for me - not my usual genre of book as I love psychological thrillers, but this does the job nicely of taking you away into another world!

Fairly typical love story with an annoying ex lurking in the background, new love, trust issues, break ups and finally love wins out. Yes a simple story but enjoyable none the less!

Many thanks to netgalley for an arc of this book in return for my honest review.

Gut Feeling by Victoria Browne is your typical chick lit romantic comedy.

Ashleigh is a dental nurse who has fled New York and lives in London.. She has also been cheated by her ex boyfriend and after too many parties and hangovers decides it is time to turn her life around. She meets Dave and love is borne. Along the way we get to meet her friends and go on a holiday to Ibiza.

Even though this is usually genre I like I found this book a bit bland. Nothing to distinguish it from millions of others of its kind.
I also though main character too indecisive and a bit needy. There was also constant repetition of her musings that I didn't particularly appreciate.
I felt that love scenes were somehow cut short while other scenes were necessarily put into the book.
I liked how we got to see both of Ashleigh's and Dave's perspective.

I enjoyed the storyline, even as it stretched believability from time to time. I didn't notice any typos as another reviewer mentioned, however my book came from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a lovely happy read, perfect for those days when one just needs something positive. I read it in a single sitting, and the action moves quickly. I love Ashleigh's friends - their personalities are well drawn and add to the sense that I am hearing this story from my 20-something neighbor.

It was a very cute read. Typical chick lit kind of story with relationship drama and trying to discover oneself. I had a hard time getting into the book, because I like the main characters I can envision myself being friends with and that was not Ash. Her last relationship left her feeling a bit insecure and I just wanted to shake her from time to time and tell her to ironically "trust your gut, girl". Like I said, cute book. If you need a quick summer read pick this up.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a great story and the author did a fantastic job of keeping me locked in this one. The main character (Ashleigh) is a U.S. native living in England and like most women, looking for Mr. Right. She is independently living a life away from her family and thinks she has found what she so desperately seeks but there are few obstacles that she must first face where she has learned to trust her instincts (her gut).
This is my first read from this author and I after reading this one I would like to read more. Thank you for this wonderful read. It was quite memorable!

This is basically a story about learning to trust your on instinct AKA gut feeling. It does hit on a few topics that should have trigger warnings though; rape, and abusive relationships. I liked that these were included as it was done in a way that makes you think about the dangers, and highlighted related issues that aren't often mentioned in other books. e.g. male rape victims, and the dangers of sharing other people's information without their consent.

The main character Ashleigh was a bit too pathetic at times. I really wanted to grab her and give her a good slap to snap her out of it. I loved when she showed just how a good a friend she was though. I had a bit of a love/hate relationship with her character. I also felt that more could have been done with Lee, especially considering what a big role he had in the plot of the book.

Dave was great, but the real stars were the extra characters. Strangely the "extras" were stronger characters than the main characters.

Over all it was a good read.

I found this book to be just okay read. The plot looks very cliched. It is a very standard story. The girl suffers heartbreak , wallow in her sorrow and tries to find her identity. I could not find much novelty in the plot and was slightly disappointed.

I enjoyed this book, it’s an easy read, light hearted and full of humour. I like that the story is told from Ashleigh’s and Daves perspective too. It’s a bit predictable but, you know, sometimes you just want a happy ending!

Following Ashleigh's life in London, looking into a new relationship and having an old one still hanging around. The book follows her on a journey, away from her family, as she tries to find her own way in life. A good holiday read!

Enjoyable read. It stared out a little slow, got some better in the middle and slowed down again. I read it but was glad I got to review it. Nothing too heavy so I would consider this book a little read with no a lot of plot.
