This is the fourth book in Radclyffes ‘Rivers Community Novels’ and she again doesn’t disappoint. We first met Carrie Longmire in ‘Against Doctors Orders’ when she moves, along with her boss Presley Worth to help revive a community hospital. ‘Rivers Community Hospital. Throughout the first three RCN’s we kept getting glimpses into the life she led. Now Radclyffe has decided it’s her turn to find love. Gina Antonelli is the contractor hired to build an an expansion to the Emergency Department, who has some issues she hasn’t been able to let go of doesn’t think she’s capable of being in love. Radclyffe also give us a update into the lives of Presley and her wife Harper, Harper’s sister Flann and Abby, Carrie’s consin Mari and her love Glenn. Abby’s son Blake is trans and about to have his first surgery in his journey to become the man he knows he’s meant to be. Harper and Flann’s younger sister Margie is Blake's best friend who is helping him grow. I really love Radclyffes writing. Her books are always fun and interesting. Already looking forward to book number five. |

Does everything Radclyffe touch turn to gold? Another Rivers installment and one I was glad to read. It's about time the feisty Carrie got her love interest. And who better than the dark mysterious butch Gina. But also, I just love reading Blake's story and how the community is rallying around him with support and love. Then there is Maggie. She is an absolute treasure. I really enjoy Radclyffe's writing. She has a way of drawing you in and really liking her characters. Even the obnoxious ones. I know this book has varying reviews but I really did enjoy it. Maybe I'm just a sap for happy endings. Hey we can all dream. Maybe there really is someone for everyone. I like to feel there is so I live vicariously through the books I read. Ok, you can stop laughing now. Carrie is the super assistant of Presley who is now married to Harper from the first Rivers book. Gina is the dark, mysterious construction worker who is working on the hospital and somehow making improvements to Carries home. They meet, they fall in love and have incredible sex. Interested yet? Carrie is also the Rivers baseball teams star pitcher. Come on whats not to love. Gina is the total opposite of Carrie. She is stuck in her unhappy past. Maybe together they can figure it all out. There is a slight addition to this story and that is Blake. He is transgender and undergoing major surgery. This part of the book really what gripped my attention. Mainly his bravery. Also the bravery of his best friend Maggie and her nonjudgmental attitude. It truly was a breathe of fresh air. So, yes in my opinion this book deserved 5 stars. Also, yes I would recommend it. You could read this as a stand alone but honestly I wouldn't advise it. By reading the 3 previous Rivers novels you'll gain a greater understanding to the dynamics of the community. Enjoy! *ARC provided by publisher via NetGalley* https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2160908298 https://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R1E6VLWDJAJADC/ref=pe_1572281_66412651_cm_rv_eml_rv0_rv |

Two very different characters Kassandra Hayden and Jayden Beaumont meet after Jayden rescues Kassandra's runaway dog Lula. They both have to learn to step beyond their protective boundaries and trust, not an easy thing to do for either of them. An enjoyable, heart warming romance. |
This is a typical Radclyffe book, but I'm not saying it in a negative way, quite the opposite, because I'm a big fan of her stories. So a typical Radclyffe book is for me a romance that completely fulfills my expectations. In this case, the book is the fourth in the series dedicated to the Rivers family and friends, which shows the life of the community around Rivers Hospital. All books in the series can be read independently. The characters of previous books have an appearance, but they do so as secondary characters. In any case, it is exciting to know about all of them, for me it is perfect. The two women protagonists of this part are Carrie, a hospital executive administrative assistant, and Gina, a contractor of the company who must take charge of an extension of the hospital. The first meeting between them is heated, to say the least. After that, the romance develops little by little, with some difficulties due to a dramatic situation experienced by Gina in her youth and that has left her damaged both physically and mentally. But as in all good romances, love triumphs over all things. I have to say that I would have liked more and more extended sex scenes but anyway this is a book highly recommendable. |

Thoroughly enjoyed this book!!. Once again, Radclyffe brings together a great group of characters, an awesome story, and some steamy scenes to make for a great read. I liked the main characters alot. They had good depth, some funny quirks, and deep emotions that ran long into the past. This made for great interaction amongst them. The author also touched on some very sensitive topics experienced today in both the Trans/LGBTQ community. She handled them very well IMO, even down to the parents and how they continuously supported their kids through it all. In the end, i found this to be great and as alwayys looked forward to the nexts to come!! |
Another great addition to the Rivers Community. Can't wait for the next installment! |
Typical Radclyffe novel, great romance and updates of stories in previous books. I particularly liked the transgender storyline which I thought was a bit different. |

I loved all the Rivers story. I loved that the books update us on what's been happening with characters from previous books.his new book focuses on Carrie Longmire, Presley's executive assistant and Gina, who is in charge of the construction of the new hospital wing. The characters are well described and very likable,Their relationship begins to grow once Gina is hired to do the renovations at her (Harper's) home. |
This one was a sweet slow burner that has the same family feel of the previous Rivers stories. This time the romance revolves around Carrie, Presley’s executive admin assistant and best friend. She’s super organised and brilliant at her job and has her whole life planned down to the second. In walks building contractor Gina Antonelli and she finds herself unable to stop thinking about her. Their story is tentative and highly erotically charged. It really worked for me. One of the main strengths of this series of books is the inclusion of characters with family and romantic connections. Abby and Flann are planning to get married and Blake is going through his transition. Presley and Harper are blissfully married and the warm cosy feel of people who love each other and are there for the whole community is perfect. As ever Radclyffe’s books are beautifully written and are the perfect way to while away a few hours in front of the fire. I was given this ARC by Netgalley and Bold Strokes Books in return for an honest review. |

ARc received from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. This book fits with the others in the series in that it’s a fast burn with a HEA. I think this might be the fastest yet, I’m not sure it spanned even two weeks. I honestly have no idea why Rad couldn’t have spaced these books out, all four have taken place in less than a year. Would it really have hurt anything to space them even six moths apart? As with the others, two women meet, are instantly attracted, although perhaps reluctantly, and then they run into each other constantly and end up falling for each other. This book especially needed the longer time frame, because I just didn’t believe that after moping around for so long Gina was all over her issues after such a short time with Carrie. More time to build the romance would have made that more believable. Character wise, I enjoyed Carrie, as I have in each of the books, but Gina was a bit harder to like. She was condescending when they first met, then she’s sweet and flirty, then she’s weighed down by her past love. I also found it hard to believe that they’d never met before, given that both have an interest in softball, Gina’s brother works at the hospital, and Gina herself lives locally, she’s not an import as the other love interests have been. She also doesn’t spend any real time with the other characters in the main core of the group, which each of the other pairings have done, which left her outside of the story a bit. That aside, I did like their chemistry, just wish they’d had more time to develop it. All of the previous pairings are here again, to varying degrees, as are the other secondary characters, Blake and Margie form a large part of the secondary storyline, and it was quite interesting, although I had to question the realism of Flan being allowed to perform Blake’s surgery. There’s not too many trans characters in lesfic stories, so kudos to Rad for including Blake here. I said in my review of the previous book that it felt like Rad had done the same format three times, here makes four. She really does need to break her mould, a little variety never killed anyone. |
Radclyffe returns to the Rivers Community and the characters are all here. The story this time is predominantly about Carrie Longmire (Presley's Executive Assistant) and Gina, the contractor called in to build an extension to the hospital and to Carrie's home. The setting is as lesbian filled as ever with a couple of straight people and although idyllic and always a joy to read, the setting seems less credible to me in the English Home Counties with nothing similar to compare it to. I'm not aware of any softball league either :-) But the story also involves an update on Blake and his top surgery and the growing relationship with Margie. This is well handled and interesting how Blake is starting to think about his future and how he is perceived. Overall I enjoyed the book, but the ending felt a bit rushed. I will continue to read Radclyffe's books because, well it's Radclyffe, and I know I'll get some escapism for a few hours. I was given a copy of this book by Netgalley in return for an honest review. |

I'm a big Rivers Family romance fan and this one didn't disappoint. I found the main characters relatable and realistic. I loved that the books update us on what's been happening with characters from previous books. The journey that Blake is on is really interesting and I feel that perhaps this could have been explored a bit more, Let's hope there is another Rivers book soon to wrap that all up. All the Rivers books could have been a bit longer, just when you get really into it you have to let them go. Just a really nice, relaxed read that will leave you suddenly wanting to renovate your kitchen ;) . |
This fourth book in A Rivers Community Romance series features Carrie Longmire, Presley’s admin, and the star pitcher for the Rivers softball team. Her love interest is Gina Antonelli, a woman who has no interest in investing time in a relationship thanks to events in her past hinted at in the blurb. Radclyffe returns to formula in this series giving us another dark and brooding butch who resists but can’t help falling for the dynamic Carrie. I enjoyed watching the clashes between these two in the opening scenes. I was almost sorry when misunderstandings were sorted out and longing glances replaced their fiery introduction. It may have taken a good majority of the book to get these two to acknowledge their attraction, but it seemed almost too quick when they finally got together. Why? A lot of page time was dedicated to events surrounding other characters in the series and little one on one time was built in for our leading ladies. I enjoyed catching up with Blake and Margie and marveled at Blake’s support network of friends and doting lesbians. I found myself drawn to his story and the impact his top surgery would have on his and Margie’s lives. Blake and his bravery captured my interest and pushed Gina and Carrie to the background. The bucolic life the author now enjoys seems to be slipping into her series books. More time was spent on renovation discussions and admiring the view from the back porch than on building the relationship between Carrie and Gina. None of this takes away from the quality of the writing or the talent Radclyffe has for putting the reader into every scene she writes. I’ll always be a fan of Radclyffe’s books. I cut my lesfic teeth on the Provincetown and Honor series. I loved her standalone novel The Color of Love and continue to enjoy the First Responders series because the focus is on the couple, their careers and their challenges. Sometimes too many familiar faces from previous novels in a series become a distraction, not an asset. ARC received with thanks from BSB via NetGalley for review. |

I am enjoying this series from Radclyffe! I do love the little community that has started to grow with each book and had been waiting for Carrie's story to come along. I wasn't disappointed! I liked the chemistry between the two and you could really feel it through the pages at the start. Gina definitely pushed my buttons and did get under my skin at the start. I thought it was well done and Radclyffe was able to really show the push and pull between the two. I am enjoying Margie and Blake's story as well and wonder if there is a full book on them coming in the future or if they will continue to be a side story in each book. Enjoyable read! |
I enjoy reading the Rivers family's stories. It is like inviting old friends over (if all my friends were doctors). While the books all tie together each one could be read as a stand alone story...but I suggest reading them all so you can get the complete back story on all the main players. This book centers on Carrie and gives us a deeper look into her past and future, |

I enjoyed the fourth read in the Rivers Community romance. The continuation of characters from previous books in the series proved to be interesting and engaging. Blake and Margie are so cute watching their friendship and relationship grow. Did not hear much from Mari and Glenn. The softball tournament was an interesting background to not only tell the story but to get to know Carrie Longmire and Gina Antonelli. What a likable and talented person Carrie is in the office and on the field. Gina is carrying much guilt that is difficult to shake. When she meets Carrie, she opens up a little. This is a read about moving on after an unfortunate event. This read is also about taking a chance at happiness. |
I love the Rivers Community Hospital and all its characters. Carrie, the last single one in the group meets construction worker Gina. They start out on the wrong foot with each other, but soon become friends when Gina gets a last minute job working on Carries place. Carrie seemed a bit too perfect and flat to me. Gina was more real, with flaws, past hurts and her charming personality. Blake's story also gets more flashed out. His and Maggie's relationship gets more defined. It will be interesting to see where these two are headed. All the characters of the previous book are more or less part of the story line. The only down side of that is that there is less "room" to flesh out the main characters and their story line. The first book in a series is always the one with the "meatier" character development. This book should be considered more as a follow up to to the series than only about Carrie and Gina. If you are into all the characters of Rivers Community you will like this book. |
