If you want to read a romance author who will always touch your heart with her words this is the author for you. In this book you'll be delighted with two stories of people in search of marriage. Neither is conventional but both will have you cheering for love in the end. Happiness could be a billboard away so jump in and see where the romance takes you and if each couple will end up with their happily ever after!!!

This book seems to be a bit different from what you normally expect from Debbie Macomber. It was interesting, I liked it.

This book caught my eye because of a man advertising for a bride on a billboard. But what kept me reading was the way he treated her with so much kindness and genuine interest in her. But likewise what keeps me from giving this more than 3 stars was partially how well he treated her. She was constantly doing her own thing and never treated him as well and that really bothered me. In the end I was also frustrated with how fast everything moved. I guess I just enjoy the courtship more than I enjoy the intimate scenes.

I received a copy of this through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

An Engagement in Seattle: Groom Wanted\Bride Wanted
by Debbie Macomber

Not exactly her best ever book. However, the one story with the billboard... and Chase----- I liked a lot.. the other was so so. I must say I was a little disappointed for this is one of my favorite authors. So..... I backed up and read it again. This time, I can say I gave it four stars instead of 2. I liked her characters and her way of writing the stories. I absolutely adored the billboard romance. It was different and had twists I did not expect! I would of liked more on this one. As for the other... it is interesting but just not my taste. you will not lose buying this book. Both are of interest and both are well written. It could not be otherwise with this author. I was given this book in return for an honest review. Anna

Debbie Macomber's books are always enjoyable and well written. I really enjoyed Bride Wanted. Fun modern mail order bride story!

A cute story though slightly predictable ending. When Lesley is mugged and Chase assists in taking down the thief much does she know that he will steal her heart. Chase has come to Seattle to find a bride, he decides to take out a billboard ad to hopefully find "Mrs. Right". When he rescues Lesley, she rescues his heart. Thank you Harlequin for this advance copy. I look forward to putting in on a Valentines display.

Debbie Macomber really knows how to tell a story. She pulls her readers into her stories with characters that are genuine and slightly flawed. Her storytelling moves quickly without getting bogged down in details and we want her characters to find their happily ever afters.
Chase Goodman works for the pipeline in Alaska. He is tired of spending the seemingly endless winters alone and is looking for a woman to share his life with. Chase gives himself 3 weeks in Seattle to find the perfect bride. To help him do this, he takes out an advertisement on a billboard. Chase never expected to get an overwhelming response or to find a woman he wants to be with in a grocery store parking lot.
Lesley Campbell is a teacher who has been dumped by her fiancé for another woman. Lesley struggles with seeing her ex and his new wife daily since they all teach at the same school. She knows that she should move on, but Lesley is finding that hard to do. On what was to be her wedding day, Lesley never expected to find a man whom she is immediately drawn to while being mugged in a grocery store parking lot.
Lesley and Chase may have an immediate connection, but they also have baggage to contend with. Lesley isn’t sure she is over her ex and Chase knows the type of life he would be asking a wife to share. They have a lot to figure out and only a few short weeks to do so. Watching them come together and realize that love sometime does happen quickly is a heartwarming story.
I found this book to be a quick read that kept me interested. Yes, falling in love in a few weeks seems impossible, but Ms. Macomber makes it seem reasonable. I think fans of her stories will love this one

Chase wants a wife to take back to Alaska. He has an unusual way to find one. He advertises on a billboard. Lesley is the only woman who interests him so he hires her.

This was not exactly my cup of tea. Lesley hit one of my pet peeves. She was a whiney woman, something that really gets on my nerves. In the end I didn’t really care if they got together. Thank you to net galley for a copy of this book.

This was a quickie romance in every sense. The book (a reissue of an older edition) focuses on the romance between Chase and Lesley, which happens very quickly, and not much else. There isn't so much character development in this book as in others of Debbie Macomber, nor is there much storyline.

I realize after adding this book to my list it was not new(got it from netgalley) but a reissue of book originally printed in 2011. Chase has come to Seattle from Alaska to find himself a bride. He puts up a billboard advertising a wife only to have found a love interest saving Lesley from being mugged. As with Ms. Macomber book you cannot go wrong. Her books are uplifting and sweet. Review on Amazon and netgalley.

I opened An Engagement in Seattle on my Kindle. Imagine my surprise when I discovered a different book! It is Say My Name by Allegra Huston. How do I get Debbie Macomber’s book?

Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite authors. Her stories are always heartwarming and sweet with characters you can't help but adore. This book was no exception! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Leslie is left stunned and heartbroken after her fiance breaks off their engagement and marries someone else. Then on the day her wedding was supposed to take place, her purse is snatched in a store parking lot. Desperate to retrieve her belongings, she runs after the thief but is unable to catch him. An unknown hero rushes in to save the day. That hero is none other than Chase Goodman. Chase had come to Seattle from his home in Alaska to find a wife. He had such a short time to do just that, so he advertised on a billboard "Bride Wanted".

Although she didn't know at first that Chase was the man behind the billboard, Leslie soon became interested in this man and a warm relationship soon developed. Things did not go smoothly however! Tony, Leslie's ex-fiance created problems and Leslie's mother wasn't all too keen on this relationship either. But a HEA prevailed!

I have to say that the romance in this book gave me tingles, and oh how I love those tingles! There was enough steam to let you know what was happening without having it thrown in your face (if you know what I mean). It definitely gives you a good dose of romance!

Another great Christmas romance by Debbie. Read each one every year

An Engagement in Seattle was an average read with a decent supporting cast. Chase and Lesley are likable, but she is way too boring a character to actually care about, I wish that there was more character development. However it was nice to see their HEA in the end.

Debbie Macomber delivers a wonderful novel yet again.

I absolutely love most of Debbie Macomber's books, but this one was just okay to me. The relationship between Chase and Lesley felt so rushed. It was almost like insta-love. Chase was an amazing guy and Lesley deserved some happiness after what her ex did, but it was just too fast. I wanted more of a build-up so that I could fall in love with the characters as they fell in love, and I never quite felt as though they did fall in love. I just never really connected with them. I found myself wanting to know more about Daisy, and I really wanted her to find love with a good man. She was more interesting than Lesley. I also would have liked for April, Lesley's ex-fiance's wife, to have been involved in the story. I wanted her to show up and dump his sorry behind. I liked the overall idea of the story but the plot wasn't as fleshed out as it should have been.

According to the back cover copy above, this book has two stories; my NetGalley only had one, and it was about what you would expect from a romance novel bundled with another in one volume.

Chase was a man on a mission--he wanted a bride and was advertising for one. In the mean time, he met Lesley whose snatched purse he rescued, and he fell hard and quick. Lesley was recovering from having her heart broken when her fiance of several years dropped her just before the wedding, to marry a co-worker. She decides she will marry him and go with him to Alaska. Of course once they get there she realizes just how small the town is...but this is a romance novel so...

About the best grade I give these short formula romances is a B-, so that's what this one gets.

This is sweet and clean and like the romances from years ago. A kind-hearted "bear" of a man needs a wife and meets her in Seattle.

I love Debbie Macomber and this book was no exception. Pure love and romance with quite a twist. A love story that was accidental and even more beautiful because of that. Started with a broken heart and haven't we all been there? Good dialogue, well drawn characters. I enjoyed it all.

I didn't know going into this book that I was going to get two books in one... what a nice surprise!! Both of these books were typical Debbie Macomber style- which is a good thing. Her books are always to fun, light-hearted, sexy, and just a good read!
