Received this book through net galley telling two different stories of generations of different lives and war! Very personal story that was written so well you get yourself lost in this moving history story! A lot of work you can tell went into this story where the characters you will so much enjoy! |

A telling and evocative story of the author's family history and the impact it had upon the lives of his predecessors and himself. A family saga that tells of emotions, turmoil, and the coming of age. |
The story covers two wars, civil and Vietnam, relating the experience of the Simpson family participants in each. Emphasis for me was on the later, Vietnam participants as they are my contemporaries. It is an enlightening and interesting tale which is easily read, thought provoking and enjoyable. Anyone with an interest in the era of the Vietnam war from a familial view will find it enlightening. I'm sure you'll enjoy reading it. |
Thankyou to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and Michael A Simpson for the opportunity to read a copy of Sins Of My Fathers in exchange for an honest review. What an incredible story. I thought it was extremely well written. The novel intertwines 2 stories of the Simpson family set one hundred years apart. One set in the time of the Civil War and the other during the Vietnam War. Thankyou Mr Simpson for sharing your story. I was deeply moved and I think it will stay with me for a long time to come. |

Interesting story, but the writing is uninspiring. The events are interesting, but they're narrated in a very uninterested way - almost like a history book, or news article. There are no spelling mistakes or grammatical errors that jumped out at me. I'm far from being a writer, but I'll say that this doesn't remotely follow the "don't say what happened, show it" rule. |
