Smith writes with pace and provides another great read in the Bastard Legion series. Miska is a fantastic character, and the adventures of the Hangman's Daughter are so much fun to follow, with action, dark humour and a multitude of characters with shades of grey that make for great storylines.

A slow-cooker of a story that explodes into a full on war across space. What sets this aside from other books I've read in this genre is the Interesting concept of human embedded tech which on the whole does not seem so unrealistic these days. Took a while to get into the story, but maybe as its the first in this series I've read maybe I'd had the backstory it would have engaged me quicker, bit I do think I'll read other books in this series. Fully enjoyed the book and would recommend to others.
