After a great tragedy Margaret needs a change of environment and decides to go to Affriva of all places. Not only is she a woman traveling alone, but she is also a doctor! Here she meets many obstacles in her path, Lyon included. In his opinion, a petite white woman has no business going into the jungle, but she surprises him and the attraction between them flares up. But being in the jungle can be dangeros in many ways, something these two of course will discover.

Both MCs have experienced great loss and are struggling to move on and not let it affect their lifes too much. The story is about acceptance, discovering strengths in yourself and open up your heart to new people and places after heartache. The setting in 1910 Africa was believable, the descriptions of the wilderness and tribes were detailed and vivid. The romance part is somewhat chaste, fitting that time's accepted behaviour on the subject, but itis also sprinkled with the freedom and boldness you can find in the African jungle where western societyrules have no influence.

A charming read that can be recommended. Reviews will also be posted on Amazon and Goodreads.

An unimaginable tragedy sends Dr Margaret Boynton running to the African jungle in 1909. There she faces creatures of all sizes, witch doctors, cannibals and Jeremiah Lyon. Here she battles for her place in this strange foreign land and heals her heart in the process.

This is a light, well written historical romance. I enjoyed the depiction of the people Margaret encountered, her sass and independence (she’s an upper class 20th Century British woman) and Lyon the strong, gruff, fierce protector.

Pure romance isn’t usually my style but this was a sweet, quick read and the foreign land added an element of extra interest.
