I went through a whole range of emotions with this novel.....Garrett is just trying to survive after learning that his fiancé was kidnapped and killed in Thailand. A year later while on a rescue mission he finds his beloved Sage alive. Now Garrett has to learned to reconnect with Sage all over again after becoming a dominant. Things get rocky and Sage gets kidnapped again and Garrett's heart sinks. While he pretends to buy her at an auction they both discover the joys and pleasures that the BDSM lifestyle can bring.

This story surprised me by pulling all of my emotional strings. Garrett, unyielding in his dedication and devotion to being part of a Special Forces Unit. Built like a tank, but also a prisoner to his dark desires, he finds himself in a constant struggle to come to terms with them. His will to live in almost non-existence after finding out his fiancée Sage was kidnapped and killed in the jungles of Thailand while on an aid mission. The guilt he feels in not being able to protect and save her have left him devastated.

One year later, Garrett volunteers to go on a search and rescue mission. He really does not care if he lives or dies at this point in his life. The love of his life is gone, he is an empty shell and his only goal is getting the job done. He is shocked to find Sage amongst the prisoners.

They are both home safe and sound but the two of them each now have demons that have surfaced as a result of both their experiences. Garrett believing that Sage was dead and is now alive, and Sage definitely fighting the demons and horror she had to endure for over a year. Garrett has closed off his true self to Sage because if he reveals it to her , he believes she will no longer want or love him. He does not want to risk that now that she is safe with him again.

We go through their difficult journey together with the hope that they will find each other again. He wants to keep her safe and for him to remain her hero. This was an emotional rollercoaster ride, and one you do not want to miss.....

This story got me in from the first page. I loved the premise and the writing in the first chapter. yet it lacked something. The writing and storyline lagged in the middle, but by the end, the good writing was back. Perhaps a lack of editing? I’m not sure. What I can say is the story finished strong. I think Ms. Payne is an author to watch.

This book was very captivating to read. Garret had lost Sage when she was kidnapped and killed over a year ago. He turned his feelings off and became ruthless in his job. He was always one of the first ones in when a dangerous situation came up. He really didn't care if he lived or died. He kept having very erotic dreams of Sage and him together. He goes on another rescue mission and he finds that she is not dead, just captive and being sold into slavery. Once she is rescued, he won't touch her as he is now into hard line kink and won't subject her to it. She tries so hard to connect with him and he isn't having it. This is where the story gets difficult to read. Garrett is soooo stubborn and won't even tell her she is still in danger. I would have been furious with him for that alone. More drama happens and keeps you involved to the end. It's a story that has a lot happening, but you can't put it down until you finish.

This couple went through so much. I love that the woman was strong even though it would have been easy to break. I highly recommend this book

When I read a romance novel, I'm not expecting reality, I'm reading for entertainment. However, this book was just so far off from reality that I found myself constantly shaking my head. I did finish the book just to see where it would go but honestly I don't get what this author was thinking with her plot lines.
First we have Sage who is declared dead by the Army when in fact she has been held by rebel leaders and human traffickers for over a year. During that time, she was never violated and only came close to being so on the night of her rescue. She is rescued by a Special Forces group that includes her fiance, Garret. He is so happy to get her back from the dead that he spends her first night back in a bar, with a prostitute??? All because he can't handle his desire to dominate Sage. Which would be understandable if he was doing it in deference to her possible trauma but he's not thinking of her at all! Then the first time they do engage in a dom/sub scene its while Sage is yet again being held prisoner by the traffickers and they are all watching? Seriously?
I get that the author was trying to deal with some of the mixed feelings of BDSM, but I feel like this was the wrong way to go about it. Perhaps it would have been better to have him question his feelings without having Sage kidnapped. Dealing with his issues while never addressing Sage just seemed weird.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

Saved by Angel Payne is a story about Sergeant Garette Hawkins and his fiance Sage Weston's love, kidnapping, sexual desires and denials and ultimately their fight with King.
I was very excited with this ARC and dived straight into it with the belief to complete it in a day but alas! I couldn't. Not for my poor reading speed or other distractions but for some let downs in it.
As for the beginning, it is good as far as they were in Thailand but quickly started to pick its downfall for me when they were in the States. For one, Sage didn't tried to coax Garette out of his shell. Garette didn't explain the factors involving his behavior and most importantly, nothing (expect for the some wasted hots in the jungle) sexually happened between the two of them until of the 90% if the book. Although the ending was a little too abrupt, I like the fighting that Sage did.
I absolutely love the connection, love, devotion, adoration that Garette and Sage had. In supporting Zeke, Rayna, Wyatt, Josie and last but not the least, King were good in their part.
So, in short, this book was full of highs and lows for me but still, I await the arrival of next book in this series.
I would recommend you to give this one a shot.

Saved is a book I received from netgalley and publisher to give an honest review.
Garret a special forces operative lost Sage the love of his life 12 month previously when working as an aid worker she was kidnapped and murdered. Since then he has drowned in Grief and only his aggression and volunteering for the most dangerous missions have kept him going. One such mission now is to rescue some woman who are being used as sex slaves.
Sage is one of the women he rescues, their love is as strong as ever but Garret has changed so much he cannot connect the same with Sage as he feels the need to dominate and control her. So begins the story of how they work through these difficulties, with some added adventures thrown in.
I afraid I found the beginning rather confusing and it took me a while to get into this book, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would, I think mainly because I couldn't connect with Garret, nothing was really explained fully enough for my liking, that said I have read other reviews which are a lot more positive than mine.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for opportunity to review this book.

Got this book through Netgalley in exchange for a review.

To be honest, I was expecting something quite different, but the mention of Thailand in the description just made me want to read this book. However it was a huge disappointment.

The story is not well constructed, not believable, and was unable to keep my interest at all. Not very keen to try other books by this author.

I really enjoyed this book. It made me see and learn things from a different perspective. This book had everything I want in a story. Author Angel Payne really did great with this one! Alpha males. Military hero/es. BDSM. Black market. Perfect read! I recommend this book to everyone especially the erotica and military romance lovers out there.

I received an ARC from NetGalley to read and review. The below is my honest, unbiased opinion. Thank you, Angel Payne, the publisher, and NetGalley, for allowing me to review.

He saved her life… she saved his soul. Garrett Hawkins is the most valuable asset to his Special Forces unit, because, frankly, the guy doesn’t care if he lives or dies anymore. Since the love of his life, Sage Weston, was kidnapped and killed with her medical unit a year ago, Garrett has turned the shell of his soul into the armor of a finely tuned fighting machine. Being the first tapped for the unit’s craziest missions is just fine by him. The less time for memories and the agony they carve into his soul, the better. It’s a plan that works, until Garrett’s world is upended one night in the jungles of Thailand. Memories become reality when the unit is called to rescue a group of kidnapped aid workers, and they discover Sage and her teammate among the retrieved women. Now that Sage is back in his arms, Garrett doesn’t know what to do. He has changed in dramatic ways, especially in the darker tastes of his passion. If he touches Sage again, he’ll want to claim her, restrain her...dominate her. Is Sage’s love strong enough to let Garrett back in, not only as her fiancé but her Dominant? Can she trust that visiting the new shadows of his life will lead her to ecstasy and not ruin? Or can Garrett’s discipline be exactly what her soul needs to find its way back to life—and love—again?

My first Angel Payne read was MISADVENTURES WITH A SUPER HERO, where she BOLTED me awestruck, and SAVED, her latest novel, didn't disappoint either. This fast-paced read is wicked sexy, with the right amount of action to keep you clinging to your Kindles until the very end. I adore Payne's storytelling; she writes in a way that's completely captivating and with the perfect amount of detail to make you feel complete submersed in the world she's creating. I can't wait to dive into the next HONOR BOUND novel; Payne is quickly becoming my latest auto-buy author.

Tantalizing. Hot. Sexy. Scorching. Badass. Strength. Are just a few words I would use to describe Saved. Just wow and this is only book one of the Honor Bound Series. Saved is all Garrett and Sage. Let me tell you this hold onto your seats and your panties and enjoy the roller coaster. After all this time being held I'm amazed by Sage's strength and courage to keep going. She not only fought for herself and her friends while being held captive but she also ends up fighting for Garrett. After Sage was taken you get the sense that Garrett is propelled into a dark place he doesn't know how to handle it. You get the dominate just waiting to come out. You feel his struggle to handle the BDSM lifestyle with all that Sage has gone through. I loved how she accepted everything. I love them as a couple. I really can't wait to see what Angel Payne has in stored for Zeke, Rayne, Ethan and the rest of the crew. I have a feeling this series is just going to get hotter and more gripping. If you haven't had a chance to read Angel yet then this may be a great place to start.

Sage Weston who has been missing for over a year is found and rescued by her fiance Garrett Hawkins. Garrett, who is Special Forces, has been grieving over her murder by drinking and taking on dangerous life threatening missions. Felt the reunion of this couple was just unbelievable. Payne spend more time and effort on Garrett's issues and not much on Sage's who had been brutalized during her captivity. Elements of erotic and BDSM is included so if this is not your reading preference you might want to skip this. "A copy of this book was provided by Waterhouse Press via Netgalley with no requirement for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."

Wow. This was not an easy read, many triggers that might send some to therapy, it the story is truly one of redemption for both lead characters. An hoping for a Sequel even though this does have an HEA.
