I found that with this book I couldn't follow along easily. As soon as you start the book its straight into something. Its very fast paced but to me it doesn't flow through. It seems disjointed at times. There is a sound story concept but I just didn't really enjoy this book. But that doesn't mean others won't.

In an effort to respect this author and the title, because I do understand how much work goes into a book, I will not be posting a public review of this book. I DNF'd the book because there was a serious disconnect between the synopsis and the story. I was really excited about this book but I found the file formatting so horrendous that it was difficult to read and the plot holes were so numerous that it was laughable.

I understand that an ARC copy will have grammar and spelling errors but how this story was released with glaring plot holes and character actions/behaviors that seemed to have no basis given your prior knowledge of them was beyond me. I also struggled to keep up with the story because it jumps from one thing to the next with minimal (if any) transition between scenes.

Overall, there's potential here but I think that edits way beyond grammar and spelling are needed before this gets released to the public.

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way influenced my opinion of this book.

DNF @ 40%

Before I continue with my review, let me tell you I barely ever don't finish a book. In my life, I've only DNF'ed three out of the hundreds I've read. I'm quite easily pleased and like a whole lot of things! It was actually hard for me to DNF this, but I wasn't interest in this story at all. Other than that, I'm in a reading slump and I've just finished a few books that I also didn't like. All those things on top of each other made me decided to stop reading Forgotten Violets.

The cover is beautiful and the synopsis sounds great. Based on that alone, I think I would've rated this book 4/5 stars. It sounds like a mystery mixed with some fantasy and that honestly one of my favourite things! Unfortunately, it didn't deliver.

The plot and characters didn't interest me at all. I think that's mostly due to the gaps in the plot and the info dump in the beginning. It goes beyond being a mysterious story. Instead, it's just missing important bits and pieces that I needed to connect with this book. We jumped from one thing to another and it was way too confusing. Also, a woman in the story was described as "anorexic and pale" and I just had to but the book down for a minute. Why did it have to say "anorexic" specifically? Couldn't she just have been thin? I did pick it up again, but it stayed in my mind and it's probably another reading I decided to put it down.

The setting was really confusing, and there was a lack of world building. Honestly, I expected some present day big city, while in fact it felt a bit historical with all the swords and arrows? I also don't have a clue about how this world "works". We got bits and pieces here and there, that felt a bit too info dumpy. Honestly, I think it could've worked if where was a map of the world or something.

I felt like it was poorly written. On top of all the gaps in the plot and lack of world building, the writing just felt off. English isn't my first language, but I'm skilled enough to notice mistakes and errors. So many sentences ended with a period and there was a lack of commas, too. I still understood what it said, but was this book even edited? Because if I can see the mistakes, how can an editor miss them?

I believe this book couldn't been so much better, starting by adding some periods and commas, really. Without all the plot holes, I think it would've worked out much better and become more interesting. Obviously, characters and world building are important, too. But by just changing half of these things,Forgotten Violets could have so much more potential.

The cover and the synopsis got me very interested.
As I started reading, I found the book a bit confunsing. Everything was happening so fast that I couldn't keep up. Lots of character but little explanation about them. Same as the place where they were.
On the bright side, the main plot had a lot of potencial and author's writing was easygoing.

I received this ARC copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. So thank you netgalley and publishers.
This is a story about a girl named Meadow who was captured by a man and escaped. She was Found, then imprisoned, the local city's people dont trust or believe her. Except for one official named Quinn. I really wanted to like this book but it just fell flat for me. The story had amazing potential, sadly it just didn't live up to it. It was faced paced at first but then it seems like alot was missing and made for choppy writing. I was confused at times and i do not like books that confuse me.
This was my first book from this author and I can tell you it will be my last! 2 stars.

This book starts out really exciting. Right off the bat you have the mystery of where did Meadow and her friends come from and what happened to them while they were in the cellar. Sadly, the book felt like it was missing key pieces of the book to where it made the book seem choppy. I felt like there could have been some more transition paragraphs to help the reader understand what was happening. I did really like the mystery aspect of the book. It kept me guessing to the very end and the ending really was a huge surprise. Overall, while this book was confusing at times it did keep me interested to know more about Aiden Rose, Meadow's missing memory, and what happened in the cellar.

I wanted to like this. Truly.
Forgotten Violets is a tale about a girl named Meadow who was captured by a man/monster and escaped. Found, then imprisoned, the local city's people neither trust nor believe her. Except for one suspicious, untrustworthy official named Quinn who knows more than he let's on.
The story has potential I think, but there's too much blundering for me to wade through. I only made it 20% through before DNF'ing it. The problems, for me, are infodumps, lazy characterization, and emotion. The main character did nothing the first 20% of the book to make me like her, or care for that matter. She's hiding the truth of the situation from her new captors and friends, but gives nothing away to the reader but empty reiterations of her past. She says that she's best friends with Elizabeth, another girl who was captured, that they're like sisters, but they barely exchange two sentences of dialogue. sigh.
It had potential but It seems like this is a first or second draft in need of some serious overhaul, and not something nearing it's publication.

2.5 rounded up to 3 stars. I received an ARC of this novel from NetGalley and Smith Publicity in exchange for an honest review.

After escaping a cellar in a tundra wasteland, Meadow Noone finds herself thrown into custody in a neighboring town. Meadow, along with her two friends Parker and Elizabeth, is being charged with crimes they did not commit. Meadow is determined to keep her secrets including her addiction to a fruit called Elsyn which seems to have magical abilities.
Aiden Rose is the monster who held her captive in her cellar but everyone presumes him dead. Now Meadow must traverse this strange land seeking answers while questioning everyone and everything around her.

The cover is beautifully done and the synopsis hooked me immediately as something I would enjoy. The novel however felt disconnected and I struggled to have any kind of connection with the characters. I felt that this novel had a lot of potential with its original concept but was a little too mysterious to be intriguing. Although this book was not for me personally it might be enjoyable for anyone who enjoys platonic romance fantasy.

The book moved a bit too quickly for me. I felt like I was missing part of the story as I read it.
