The pictures in this book are exceptional. I have Wanda’s other cookbook and this one exceeds that by miles. Love how the book is tied to the cooking class series. There’s some back info from the books included in this book connecting it even more! There is a lot of basic cooking info for the beginning cook (which I think is appropriate seeing as the book is connected to the novels). The recipes are easy to follow, well laid out on the page, and delicious! I’ve tries quite a few recipes and have loved them all. There is quite a wide variety of recipes and definitely something for everyone.
I received a copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Loved this cookbook! I received a digital advanced preview copy from the publisher and Netgalley for review. The recipes included are great and easy to follow, with lots of different types of recipes for every occasion. I loved how each section began with information about the Amish and tips for cooking. The pictures included were nice as well. I will definitely be ordering a physical copy of this cookbook for my kitchen!

I was eagerly awaiting notice of being granted permission to review this book and I was excited to receive it. I don't know the author, so the characters from her other books were unknown, but I loved how she tied everything in. The book, is like a master class on amish cooking, from beverages, breakfast, lunch dishes and desserts. From my extended preview there are a couple of things I want to try making the dinner rolls and the sourdough. AND SO MANY PIES!!! I was given an extended preview and I will be preordering the book ASAP.

The Amish Cooking Class Cookbook by Wanda E. Brunsetter is a add-on book that fleshes out the Amish Cooking Classes novels. If you've read the Amish Cooking Class books, you will recognize the characters found in this cookbook. While you don't need to be familiar with the Amish Cooking Class book series, the recipes stand alone, it is a nice touch to have read the books as you feel like you are sharing cooking experiences with characters you know.

Some of the recipes you'll find in her cookbook include:

Amish Dinner Rolls
Baked Oatmeal
French Toast Casserole
Butternut Squash Brownies
German Chocolate Pound Cake
Bavarian Mint Coffee
Maple Hot Chocolate

You will find color photos illustrating the recipes.

I was unable to review the canning recipes portion of the book as there was only an introduction. Based on the thoroughness of the cookbook's research, I expect the canning instructions to be top-notch.

Recommend.

Review written after downloading a galley from Net Galley.

This book is a great companion to the Amish Cooking Class series. If you haven't read the books, Wanda has a very nice section where she introduces each of the characters and tells a little bit about them and what their favorite foods are.
The book then goes to explain Amish cooking and what is in the kitchen. The recipes come next and they are varied and easy to make. She will also include the Cooking Class meals! The sections go through breakfast to dessert. The ebook only covered breakfast and dessert recipes. There are many other topics highlighted, Wanda thought of everything!
I plan to purchase a book copy (when it is available) for my own use. I don't normally collect cookbooks, but this one I love! It is one I am sure I will put to good use!

This book wasn’t what I thought it would be. That’s not a bad thing. It just took me by surprise. See, I haven’t read any of author Wanda E. Brustetter’s books. I simply thought this to be an Amish cookbook. However, it is based on Ms. Brustetter’s Amish Cooking Class novels. Fiction. So this book is a product of the many recipes shared in her three book series. (And if you like Amish fiction, I suggest you look the author up. She has written so many books!).

The chapters include The Amish Kitchen . . . Bread and Rolls, Mornings . . . Breakfast Foods, Sweets . . . Desserts, Canning . . . Spread and Pickles, Gatherings and Events . . . Main Dishes, Slow and Steady Wins the Race . . . Soups, Skill Sharing . . . Miscellaneous, Gardens . . . Salads and Sliders, General Store . . . Snacks, Dips, and Spices, Children in the Kitchen . . . Recipes for Children.

Following the chapter index the author explains her Cooking Class series, and introduces the characters. The book then goes into handy tips like making a Tender Roast Beef, Keeping Potatoes White, DIY Buttermilk, and many others.

Lovely photos, and verses of scripture accompany easy to follow recipes. Many of which I look forward to trying in my kitchen soon. Delicious sounding offering such as . . . Almond Milk, Root Beer, Country Breakfast, Angel Biscuits, Johnnycakes, Amish Country Breakfast, Blueberry Pancake Pizza, Butternut Squash Brownies, Lazy Daisy Cake, Cashew Brittle, Divinity, Coconut Love Bars, Cream Cheese Maple Frosting . . .

Sadly, since this was a preview of the book, I can’t share any of savory/main courses with you, because they weren’t in my preview.

All in all, I did enjoy the AMISH COOKING CLASS COOKBOOK. If you’re a fan of Amish culture, and/or simple cooking, I think you’ll really enjoy it too.

Oh my goodness, I think this may just be my new favorite cookbook! I fell in love with the characters in Wanda Brunstetter's Amish Cooking Class series so it is such a sweet treat to be able to recreate their favorite recipes. The cooking and household tips from the characters and those used in Amish homes are new and just plain awesome. I really love the tip to soak pasta previous to cooking. I've never heard that one! It is plumb delicious to get to sneak a peek inside the Amish kitchen to glean from their expertise in cooking. Bible verses are interspersed throughout the cookbook.

Many of the favorite Amish dishes are in the cookbook including Amish friendship bread including directions for making and storing the starter. I can't wait to get to cooking.

I am delighted to give this cookbook a 5 star rating.

I received an ebook of this cookbook from netgalley and Shiloh Run Press in exchange for my honest review.

I received a copy of Amish Cooking Class Cookbook (Extended Preview) by Wanda E. Brunstetter from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I had never read a book by Wanda E. Brunstetter previously so the heavy (and frequent) character references did not hit their mark with me. They seemed very out of place in a cookbook and unnecessary.

For the actual recipes, I'm not sure how many Amish use some of the ingredients (ex.: boxed cake mix) so those seem rather suspect for an Amish cookbook. Rather expected less...processed things.

I haven't tried the recipes so I cannot speak to how they might turn out, but based on my preview of this cookbook, I would pass and instead search for a more authentic-seeming Amish cookbook.

I  recieved a free digital copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

In all honesty, I was expecting more. The first part of the book included references to the characters in her novels. I'm sure there are people who would find this interesting, I'm just not one of them. There's a lot of Amish background in the book that's neat.
A few of the recipes are interesting but there aren't many that will be added to my list.
All in all it is an alright cookbook. I enjoyed the storage tips and cooking hints.

The author Wanda Brunstetter is a very popular author of Amish fiction and nonfiction. This short book is one about the simple homemade goodness readers would expect of the Amish lifestyle. Suggest more explanations of, for example, what Angel Cream is. One recipe says use this instead of cream of tartar while another one said use this OR cream of tartar. Experienced cooks could figure this out but anyone new to cooking might panic. Found many of these recipes on Pinterest but I believe that having recipes conveniently located in a book priceless. T might. It might be the editing, but I found the book hard to read and I love cookbooks.

Sorry. I did not see that this is an extended preview. I will not read it because I won't be able to judge its quality.

This is a great cookbook for beginners and beyond. Since I live near an Amish Community it was also an interesting read.

This book is, mostly, a collection of the recipes from the Amish Cooking School series of novels. They are divided into chapters with short essays on Amish life in between them.

In addition there are some recipes from actual Amish cooks. Many of the recipes look good, but the people who will find the book most useful are the fans of this series.
