Concise and organized information that's a definite go-to for someone who's trying to save time with meal planning. The only downer is the lack of pictures. I know they cost more to produce, but I'm a stickler for pics. Still this is a great book for a novice meal planner or someone who wants some new ideas.

This yummy book of 150 recipes that will make dinner time so much easier was awesome. i love how simple this book makes tasty meals so much easier for me. Yes the prep day is a kind of a pain but once it's done you can eat well in very little time. You gather all the ingredients, put them in freezer containers or bags toss them in the freezer and when you know you are looking at a busy day set one of the meals out over night in the refrigerator, toss in a pan when you arrive home and in under 30 minutes you have a home cooked meal ready to serve and eat. Some of the meals are ready crockpot ready as well, just dump the bag or bowl in and when you arrive home you house smells amazing and you can feed your family a yummy home cooked meal, without getting your hands dirty.

I travel a good bit and my poor hubby stays at home. I just returned from a trip and while I was gone I used some of the recipes in this book. I made up the bags and bowls before I left and he was able to have fresh cooked meals without any fuss while I was gone.

Some of the recipes make several meals with one prep. For us since it's just him and I home now, I got 10 to 12 meals instead of 6. On some I just cut the recipe down by halves or quarters, since I do not have a deep freeze anymore to store so many meals. I also cut some way back just to try and see if we liked them or not before I make the full recipe. Waste not want not.

The mango-cranberry chicken is to die for. It was delicious. Next time I will make the full recipe so I can have this on hand. It does have a tiny bite to it but is mild enough even for smaller children. The recipe make 4 meals of 4 servings, and takes 15 to 20 minutes to cook and serve.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

"Fix, Freeze, Feast" is a timely cookbook because meal prepping is all the rage at the moment. I think it's a cookbook that would be useful and well-liked for many people, however, it's not the best cookbook for me personally. I have a two person household, don't really meal prep, and don't eat meat so only the last quarter of the recipes were potentially applicable for me. I'm interested enough in the two sizes of the vegetable lasagna to make one but there is no photo. I hate when there isn't a photo showing the finished recipe for each recipe!

Fix, Freeze, Feast, 2nd Edition by Kati Neville: Lindsay Ahrens is a great book of recipes to stock your freezer. Instructions are excellent, and the recipes sound really good and not too difficult for the average person. I wish there was a color photo for each recipe. The recipes that do have a photo are beautiful, just wish there were more.

I own a lot of cookery books but this is something a little different. The book shows an easy way to plan ahead and prepare meals in advance, using a freezer to store them. By cooking in larger batches, you can save time and money. The recipes are tasty and easy to follow. It's nicely written and includes personal anecdotes relating to how some of the recipes came about. There is a huge selection of different dishes to try, plus a whole range of different sauces and marinades to add flavour to your food.

This book has some very good recipes. There are also simple ideas for easier ways to do things, such as putting a baggie into a cup for filling it with a liquid such as soup or gravy. I was disappointed that the meals in the book weren’t all cooked and then frozen as a heat up meal. Rather it was doing all the preparation at once of the ingredients and freezing them for a future meal. This can still be helpful, though. #netgalley,#goodreads, #fixfreezefeast,

i guess it's just me because other people seem to love this book. I found most of the recipes to be rather boring. Like most working women I would love to have some healthy easy meals when I get home from work but these recipes probably won't do that. Take the recipe for Urban Garlic Chicken. Chicken, a few spices, garlic, carrots, celery, onion, olive oil and red wine vinegar. I buy minced garlic in a jar (so that I always have it on hand). It takes maybe 5 mins to chop celery, onion and carrots and you have to preheat the oven anyway. Also most of the recipes are not complete meals but a main course. Now if you give me a main course I might be interested. I would love to see the recipes a little more modern as well. I guess I'm disappointed because I was expecting so much more. I think you will probably find something that you will like though.

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this title. I've actually already purchased a paper copy for myself. I enjoyed it that much. I like that this book gives choices which are realistic and healthy. I loved the warehouse tips, because I am all about saving time and money.

Finally a book that has made my crazy life just a little bit simpler! I've head of freezer meals but never knew how to make it work for me. Thanks to this book I've figured out what all the hype is about. I've saved time and money with these easy tips and amazing recipes! My favorite recipe so far is David's Swamp Blues BBQ Chicken! So yummy! I also liked the chili-lime butter on my salmon! There is so much variety that you will not be disappointed!
Enjoy!

I was intrigued by this book because of the simple, nutritious meals you can prepare ahead of time. Who wouldn't want that, especially if you're trying to eat healthy and have a busy lifestyle? However, I wasn't convinced that the meals are nutritious, once I started looking at the ingredients and the lack of nutrition information. I was also underwhelmed by the suggested pairings of other foods to add to these meals. As a health-conscious reader, I like to know what nutrients are going into the meals I plan and I like my meals to be very well-rounded. I think this book could be improved upon to support its claims by providing nutrition information on every page and offering better food pairings. On a positive note, the book is very well laid out and I thought the pictures of the food were very enticing.

Cookbooks containing freezer recipes are available by the hundreds, and most have a recipe or two that is worth making. However, Fix, Freeze, Feast, 2nd Edition: The Delicious, Money-Saving Way to Feed Your Family; Stock Your Freezer with Ready-to-Cook Meals; 150 Recipes, has dozens of great recipes for busy modern cooks that are not only appealing, but simple to make. It’s no wonder that the first edition of this excellent cookbook is a bestseller and this 2nd edition will most likely be another bestseller.

One of the biggest differences in cookbooks where you prepare a large amount of something, freeze it, and cook it when convenient, and this cookbook is the fact that the recipes are for dishes that people actually want to make and they will be appealing to couples, families with children, and guests. There is a variety of flavors in these dishes – Thai, Mediterranean, Caribbean, Italian, Mexican, Chinese to name a few, and the advance prep is very simple so it is suitable for beginning cooks as well as those with a little more experience.

Many of the recipes focus on saving money, which is helpful for young families and those on fixed incomes. By following the recipes and taking the authors’ advice, it is possible to avoid waste and still serve mouthwatering meals.

Some favorites include Sesame Soy Sirloin (there are several dishes where marinades are poured over fresh meats and frozen, allowing the marinade to seep into the meats as they thaw), a flavorful and budget-wise Pork Loin Ragout, and Pepper Jelly Pork Chops. There are also side dishes and several big-batch cookie recipes where the dough can be frozen and ready for last minute baking. The Bourbon Marinated Salmon is fabulous, as is the Swimming Rama (an easy Thai chicken coconut curry) and Mariachi Chicken Rolls.

The only drawback to this book is the fact that even though there are some nice photographs, not all of the dishes are pictured. The book is well-organized and the recipes are easy to follow. This is one book that will be used over and over. It also makes a great gift for friends and family who struggle with trying to get dinner on the table after long days at work. Highly recommended.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

An excellent book for beginner and experienced make-ahead cooks alike. Plenty of front matter on tips for make-ahead meals including fixing cooking mistakes. Easy to read, fun layout and, centrally important, a variety of recipes for all tastes.

Extremely comprehensive family cookbook that includes both freezable meals and meals to be eaten immediately after preparation.

Fix, Freeze, Feast has a huge variety of recipes. It has 84 meat-based main dishes: 37 with chicken, 23 with beef and 24 with pork. There are 24 seafood and vegetable main and side dishes. 25 sauces and 16 breakfast, snacks and sweets finish up the book. Most of the recipes are family-sized but a few are for only two servings. It would be easy to scale up or down any of the recipes to fit any size of household. It was also easy to make most of recipes gluten-free by just using gluten-free flours, thickeners (like arrowroot), and breadcrumbs.

I tried the Chicken-Broccoli Bake, Vegetable Lasagna (small pan), Basic Red Sauce (small batch) and the Mama’s Pizza Sauce. I used the red sauce for the lasagna as suggested. The results for all of the recipes were outstanding. The best part of this book is the clear directions for how to package for the freezer and how to reheat the food. Packaging varies depending on the item being packaged. Most use either plastic freezer zipper bags or baking dishes. The author has a great idea to buy foil baking pans for no clean up after the meal is reheated. This works especially well when the item will be taken to a potluck or party.

About a tenth of the recipes are labeled with “Feast Tonight” and don’t contain a freezing step. While I was fine with those being included, I wish they were all located at the end of each section to make them easier to find. In addition, I would have liked nutritional information including calories to be provided.

Overall, this is a good book for people trying to cook weekday meals in advance. It would definitely be good for the family budget especially if shopping is done at Costco or Sam’s Club.

Thanks to the publisher, Storey Publishing LLC, and NetGalley for an advanced copy.

i think the receipes are great if you eat pretty much anything there is at least one option for you. I don't think it had enough receipes that told me I needed to buy it. I love the breakfast sandwich option but didn't care for most of the red meat options. I don't eat pork either so 1/2 the book was of no use to me .. which is fine! I just don't think most recipes were a success.

I would like to thank NetGalley for a free copy of this book I suppose we have moved beyond teaching home economics in school today, but I think this book serves as a new textbook for economizing both time and money in the endless demand of preparing meals on a busy schedule. The recipes are enticing and the photography is very appealing. Each recipe makes two or three servings and specifies how long the meal will stay fresh while frozen. The recipes are nicely varied, some grilled while others are sauted or baked, and there are a good number of vegetarian options. I was worried that a book on freezer meals would make heavy use of preservatives, but most of the sauces are specified in recipes that don't use a lot of sugar. The authors even include label printing templates! I have been cooking from a meal plan service for years and I am anxious to see how setting back some freezer meals can make that easier. I'm also preparing my son for college life, and working on freezer meals together could be a way of stocking his freezer while teaching him some life skills. We also camp in an RV a lot and I love the idea of simply collecting those meals in a cooler before we go!

I really liked the diversity presented in this book. It can work for families or single people on the go. Suggestions are given on how things freeze, and how to store them without mess or problem. My mom makes meals like this all the time, and this book would be a good addition to her bookshelf. As some one who already freezes cheese in a cramped freezer, I liked the storage suggestions for spacing, and how to expect an item to freeze. Worth checking out@

I own an earlier version of this cookbook, and I have made several recipes from it. I like it very much. The new version is significantly expanded with some exciting new recipes, and I plan to buy it once published.

A wonderful tip and recipe book, with a different twist. I have tried a couple of the recipes now, and they make a quick and easy way to have meals ready quickly, especially after a busy day at work. Nice to be able to have a nice and hearty meal within a short time. I have also taken a couple of smaller portions into work, and reheated in the microwave. Easy! The only thing I wish there would have been more of is photos, but overall a well designed and detailed book. Highly recommend for the busy and not so busy, that want to be able to quickly get a good meal on the table.
