As per usual these Buzz Books are SO helpful! I am always able to find so many books that I end up loving thanks to these publications. I also love that I'm able to get a better idea of books that may not be the right fit for me thereby saving some serious time!

Are you curious about what new books are being published in January 2018? Then this is the guide for you. It certainly is the guide I look forward to for new books to read. I can't tell you how rewarding it has been for me to find new authors or authors I haven't read. It gives me a chance to see if I like the story to read to buy and finish reading the story. Don't miss out!

I enjoyed this synopsis of upcoming book releases! A must read that I thoroughly enjoyed reading is The Woman in the Window. My review of it which can be found on Goodreads:

Our mind has a way of playing tricks on us; after all- it's been said that one persons perception is often another's reality.

Dr. Anna Fox, lives alone plagued by agoraphobia, she spends her days drowning her sorrows with medication, in endless glasses of merlot, classic black and white movies and rounds of online chess.

Separated from her husband Ed and daughter Olivia; Anna carries on with her life and lives it through voyeurism. Anna watches through the lens of her camera into the streets, homes, windows and peers into the lives of her neighbors. However, when a new family the Russell's move into the neighborhood, Anna sees something that she can never unsee - a murder. Or was it?

This book hooks you and pulls you under; leaving you gasping for breath! 5 stars; yet another "fav" to add to my list!! Trust me, it's a must read - you won't be disappointed!!❤️

I am looking forward to reading The Girfriend. A sampler of the book is in this issue of Buzz Books Monthlies!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for sending me a digital arc of these books. There are some fantastic stories coming out this year. I am so excited to read "Thunderhead" by Neal Shusterman. Many of my students loved the first book in this series and I know they will be happy with this second story. I will definitely be purchasing it.

This is the first time I have checked out one of the Buzz Books because, honestly, I didn't realize what it was.
I LOVED this!
Sometimes, blurbs just don't do a book justice, or they lead the reader to believe the story is going to be one thing, and it turns out to be another. I HATE THAT!
These excerpts are just long enough to give the reader a taste of the writing style and the promise of the plot. As blogger/reviewer, this was great for deciding what books I want to request and recommend. I was quite surprised that one of the books I have been DYING to get my hands on, did not excite me at all in the excerpt. But, even though that book clearly isn't for me, I know which of my friends would love it, and I will still recommend it to them.
I will definitely be consulting the Buzz Books in the future!

Nothing stood out in this set of excerpts that made me want to pick any of them up; but of course, they're only excerpts.

Book Review
Title: January Buzz Books Monthly
Author: Publishers Lunch
Genre: Anthology
Rating: ****
Review: Two books in this collection Before I Let go and Everless, I have already read excerpts of so I won’t be commenting on them in this collection.
The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin – In this excerpt about the four Gold children; Simon, Daniel, Klara and Varya go to visit a woman who can supposed predict the day people are going to die. After their individual readings most of the children seem fine except Simon who seems utterly shaken by the woman. We are reading from Varya’s perspective as she is told she will live until 2044 making her 88 as the novel is set in 1969. This period is a great time to read from as both the 1st and 2nd world wars have passed but there is still so much that is going to happen in the coming years. This book was really gripping despite not much happening and I will definitely be picking it up.
The Woman in the Window by A. J. Finn – All I can gather from the blurb is that this story is a thriller about an agoraphobic woman who believes she witnessed a crime in a neighbouring house, intriguing to say the least. We follow our protagonist as she deals with her new life trapped indoors and dealing with PTSD, why we don’t know yet. However, we follow her as she watches her neighbours and we really get inside her head and learn what kind of people her neighbours are from the interracial family to the cheating wife to the new family consisting of Alistair and Jane Russell and their son but what strikes her as odd is apart from the day they moved in she hasn’t seen the wife once but regularly sees the son and husband. This story has a really creepy and ominous vibe from the offset and something I will definitely consider reading.
The Girlfriend by Michelle Frances – So, the blurb describes this book as A girl. A boy. His mother. And the lie she’ll wish she’d never told... We know the three main characters are Laura, her son Daniel and Daniel’s girlfriend Cherry. We are introduced to Laura who is an extremely possessive woman especially when it comes to her son and she puts this down to her husbands’ numerous affairs with the same woman and the death of her daughter Rose ten months before Daniel was born. However, when Daniel tells her he is dating a young real estate agent called Cherry she is conflicted because she wants him to be happy, but she doesn’t want this other woman to take her precious son away.
Everything Here is Beautiful by Mira T. Lee – This is the story of two sisters; Miranda and Lucia who are polar opposites, Miranda is very sensible and down to Earth while Lucia is very carefree. We see some scene from their childhood to highlight and then jump forward to when Lucia has decided to marry a much older man called Yonah and their early married life seems very happy, but something happens. While this excerpt wasn’t that interesting or intriguing it seems like a family drama that I might actually read.
The Black Painting by Neil Olson – This story from what I can gather centres around four cousins; Kenny, James, Audrey and Tessa and a missing painting. All we learn in this excerpt is the relationship between the cousins and that they have been summoned to the family mansion Owl’s Point by their grandfather for an unknown reason. This one didn’t appeal to me at all and I won’t be reading it.
