I am a fan of Davide Cali's books, and went into this great anticipation and high expectations. It was sweet, funny, and surprising. The illustrations were minimalist, bright, detailed and lovely. The text and illustrations worked together beautifully to create a charming story for children. I will certainly be buying this for our library.

Great Dog was one of those books that I can see myself giving children as a gift for years to come. It has encouragement flowing throughout the book. As a young dog walks with his father down the hall of family photos, they talk about what each dog had done that was important and amazing. The young dog kept asking, "Will I do something great one day?" The father's response was one that you hope all parents are capable and willing to give to their children. I couldn't wait to share this story with my own children and encourage them to do something great, no matter what they thought that would be.

This is a real cute, short story....captured by cute drawings that kind of remind me of a Paris type style of pictures.....& a surprise too! I'd definitely share this with little ones!
