The facts of the story of two brothers, each half of a pair of identical twins, switched at birth and raised in very different environments is fascinating. This would have made a good article. There was not enough information for a full book, so other twin stories were stuck in awkwardly, which made the book hard to follow. |

The whole “nature vs nurture “enigma gets another worthwhile chapter with this book. I found the book fascinating. Dr Segal is a recognized authority in this field and her expertise shines through here in the quality of her work. My thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an arc in exchange for my honest review. |

Accidental Brothers is another engrossing book from Nancy L. Segal, Ph.D., the 2013 William James Book Award winner. Although a non-fiction account of the only known switch of two identical twins, it often reads like a novel. Especially fascinating is the account of how the two pairs of twins, now young men, discover each other and how they deal with the transformations of their relationships. A must read for anyone interested in twins or in questions of nature and nurture. |

This is a fascinating book by one of the leading scholars on twins and behavior and the effects of genes and the environment.. No one else could have described the story of the 2 sets of twins better. This book will be of interest to scientists and the general population alike. |

This book addresses a fascinating subject, two sets of identical twins, one of each pair switched at birth and raised in different families. The story of how the error happened, how the boys were raised and how they subsequently discovered their true identities is rich with human emotion. The flow and rhythm of the book is somewhat choppy and, at times, difficult to follow, but the surprising information uncovered makes it well worth the read. |
While this was a very fascinating book, it was very hard to read. I had to look back quite a bit and figure out which twin went with each. It made the book not very fun to read, and more of a chore. I was impressed with all the research that went into the book. The twin phenomena is quite something. Thank you to author, St. Martin's Press, and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free, it had no bearing on the rating I gave it. |
